Eric's Fish and Chips Thornham in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

I chose the fish burger with a Japanese twist. The cod was chunky & juicy and the batter delicious & the pickle adds a different interest which works really well. I hesitated over my choice as it was an unknown option for me but I was not disappointed as it was delicious. The rest of the family had the cod & chips were again first class. Only warning…….go easy when ordering the size of chips as the portions are very generous. When next in Norfolk will definitely pay a return visit.

Fresh and very tasty. The mushy peas and curry sauce were sublime and topped flavoursome fish. (We had both the cod and haddock) The homemade lemonade was also a hit. Very hearty servings (could have gone small chips with the large haddock 😬) that set us all up very well for our beach walk at Brancaster and we needed it!😀

The fish and chips were totally acceptable but the experience was spoilt but their misunderstanding of allergen contamination. We ordered one normal fish and one gluten free fish and chips, the chips would be shared. This was made clear when ordering and noted on the ticket. When we got back to the holiday cottage the chips were in the box which was not labelled gluten free. So we didn't know if the label was wrong or the chips were in the wrong box. We range to ask and struggled to get the staff to understand that gluten free chips on a 'normal' fish would no longer be gluten free. we were eventually offered a credit on our next order but we had lost confidence so did not return.

Excellent fish and chips. The best my wife and I ever had. Fried in beef dripping. So tasty, salt and vinegar wasn't required. Complimented by a glass or two of homemade lemonade, we can't wait to return next time we're in the area. Great customer service from Sarah, great cooking by 'the batter boys'. Next time I want to try a battered gherkin. My taste buds are already up for it.

Good find love the set up just like a traditional fish and chip shop, was very busy when we arrived and as you can’t book you certainly can’t always guarantee a table. Both are Fish were delicious light batter and shared a portion of chips as they were so big between the three of us. Sadly didn’t have any room for the fried Mars bar but would’ve liked to have tried it. I must to try if you were in the area.

Ok food stop, if, you are hungry and need to eat. If, you can wait try somewhere else. That said the homemade lemonade was delicious.

Eric’s fish and chips is top notch and evidently cooked very fresh. Unfortunately, the ordering system was less impressive and we waited a long while for our order to be taken.

Been going to Eric’s for 9 years and absolutely love the place. The homemade tartar sauce is amazing. Service is always good. Sometimes slow when busy but that’s to be expected as everything is cooked to order. Great play park for children, my soon loves the park. After ordering, on line, nearly £80 worth of food. It was very disappointing to arrive at our allocated time to find you didn’t have two pieces to our order (buffalo wings) Would we like an alternative or a reimbursement? What was the matter with calling on the details you have to leave when ordering on line? The alternative we chose was cod, which was so so.

Fresh fish (haddock) but batter and chips left a lot to be desired. Have been here before and had a great experience two years ago so was disappointed.

Eric's Fish and Chips are a real treat, literally some of the best fish and chips I've tasted and when ever we're up on the Norfolk coast Eric's is a must visit!

We went as a large family group…our fish was ok but or chips were very dry and believe it or not they’d run out of mushy peas… Some of our group had pizzas which they all said were brilliant.

Poor, unhelpful and rude service. food was dreadful. Haddock in greasy, soggy batter. Chips served cold or luck warm. Curry sce. and peas tasteless. A dreadful and very expensive experience in a place that I shall never recommend or go to again. when I asked for a slice lemon in my gin and tonic, a rude waitress said she had run out of that as well. Have you ever been to a fish and chip shop, let alone an so called upmarket fish and chip shop, that had run out of tomato ketchup and mayonnaise, What a crap hole. close it down then knock it down and rebuild a decent retail shop or at lest a good alternative to what is there at the moment.

Gluten free haddock superb. My other half now chooses gluten free even though she is not allergic. The sauces and peas were perfect. Next time small chips to share as medium between two was too much!

The service was extremely slow. We had to ask to order, the waitress didn’t know the menu. We ordered chicken wings to start then fish and chips 30mins later our fish and chips arrived then five mins later the chicken wings but not in the sauce ordered, they said they had run out of the sauce we wanted. Surely they should have asked first instead of just assuming it would be ok? Then at around 7pm the front door was closed and the air conditioner was switched on we had to battle to eat our food before it got cold. The food was good when it came

We stumbled accross Erics Fish and Chips on way back from Brancaster. Ordered at the counter x2 Fish and Chips and a few sausages. The fish was tasty and the batter was spot on. The sausages tasted good. This time round we got a bit savvy and used their online app to put our order in at the beach. You can order the drinks via the app too Literally ready to take away within minutes of arriving there. You can order the drinks via the app too. Just as tasty second time round. Little tip, add in a bottle of ketchup when ordering as sachets give you less for the same price.

It's a good set-up at Eric's, there's a restaurant inside, seating outside or you can order at the window (as we did) and takeaway (back to Thornham in our case). But that's where the goodness ended I'm afraid. We waited 15 minutes for our large chips, medium haddock, pineapple fritter, mushy peas and curry sauce to be prepared, which wouldn't have been too bad were it not for the poor quality of the food. The fish & chips are cooked 'the traditional way' at Eric's, and that means in beef dripping. This is fine if you like doing things the traditional way but like I prefer to wash my clothes in a washing machine rather than beat them on a rock by the river, I prefer my fish & chips to be done in sunflower oil and not 'twangy' beef dripping. The fish was just passable but the batter was wanting, and the chips looked and tasted like re-heats from the night before (although I'm sure they were fresh). Ughh. How do they get away with chips like this...? The curry sauce was more like a paste than a sauce as well. I must have been spoilt during my life eating F&C, the only saving grace was the mushy peas which were good. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Having so much looked forward to another trip to Eric’s I was so disappointed to discover standards have slipped. No longer spotless facilities, there were old chips on the restaurant floor & the toilets hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned for ages. When my medium cod arrived I took it back and explained it was much smaller than I had experienced previously (just a small tail). Having taken my plate to the counter I was simply dismissed by being told “all portions are weighed” - didn’t even look at my plate. The batter looked and tasted as though it had been fried in old dripping that needed changing and chips were warm at best. Shame, as I had previously been such a fan and recommended Eric’s to anyone I knew coming to the area. Not good this time, but appalling that my face to face complaint was simply dismissed.
