Equi's in South Lanarkshire

As always, the food was good and the service was warm and friendly. I got black pudding and chips and my partner got fish and chips. Great value for money and they're always happy to accommodate our table request ie in the far away corner away from the door. The ice cream is always a highlight. My new number choice is Dimwle bar crunch. Laura who served us and Michaela (not working yesterday but has served us loads of times) are excellent at their jobs. Looking forward to going again soon.

I have always loved the food in Equis and raved to people to come here. Unfortunately tonight I have to say this is the worst fish I have ever had very thin and batter tough & dry. Once we said to the girl serving she said the fish they are using has now changed. If I had been told this at time of order I would not have had the fish. If this is going to be the servce and quailty of Equis now I will definitely not be back very disappointing. We had brought a relative tonight after telling her about how good the food was aswell.

called in to pick up two suppers at lunchtime, its a busy shop so wouldn think that they would fry a full batch of chips at once rather then individual orders. Evereytime you go in, you have to wait on chips. Its a joke. If in a hurry go elsewhere. As for the staff, a course on customer service wouldn't go a miss.. i

well why do we keep going back. Went and used the take away and surprisingly CHIPS WERE READY......,but it gave us enough time to watch just eat couriers walking in picking their noses, not wearing facemasks, and barging past customers. Equis get it sorted.

Worst chip shop in Cambuslang. Chips tasted like cooked from stagnant water, tried disguising the taste with plenty of salt and vinegar

I can't rate the food as I didn't even get that far. I tried to order via "Just Eat" but it wasn't on the app. Went through the website to be told, "This restaurant is not taking orders at this time" so I phoned. The incredibly rude woman barked at me to go through "Just Eat" and when I told her why I'd called she told me that they WERE on the app (basically calling me a liar) and they don't do phone orders then hung up on me. I have previously had both take away & dine in meals and they were always delicious but I will NEVER use an Equi's again.

Twice in the last month we have used the take away and been completely unsatisfied, the first occasion we found hair on the chips, the old grumpy one behind the counter who normally deals with restaurant bookings was cheeky and when we asked to speak to the manager her reply was, i dont know who the manager is or whose in charge, eventually the order was replaced without as much as an explanation or an apology. Second time was this evening, we order 4 or 5 different suppers then asked for a gluten free fish supper, again the staff looked around and decided, dispite 3 customers in the shop that they couldnt b bothered doing a gluten free supper. If its too much hassle they should advertise that. We left and went to The Codfather, they have said a few customers have stopped going to equis because if customer service. Really dissatisfied with recent service, especially when the old grumpy one is on

Just called in for ice cream not one member of staff had a mask on a man followed me into the shop to order hot food he DROPPED his dirty mask on top of counter and placed his order nothing was said ? .We spend around £100.00 in hear a month Never again!! .

The best fish and chips I have tasted in a long time. Well done. Staff excellent and so friendly. Try it and be amazed.

Well I was pleasantly surprised when we went for our fish and chips, The staff were good,and very attentive no problem waiting. The fish was excellent and the plates were full. Plus you got your tea,bread and butter,and finally you got your Ice cream (fantastic).The cost was very reasonable and yes we will be back. Excellent.

A treat tonight fish and chips terrible the fish was dry as a bone chips crispy and hard very bad fish was like reheat from an hour before I bought it never again And I am quite regular 👎

Customers travel form all corners to get a scoop of the famous Equis ice-cream, many wonderful flavours to choose form and cue out the door overtime, they are definitely doing something right.

So I had a little read through the other reviews before posting mine and I can’t get my head around some points - Rude staff - I have never had an issue, the young school kids serving takeaway are quiet but not rude and the girls in the restaurant are lovely and chatty! - Poor Food - eh? What you lot smoking. The chippy food out of here is to DIE for The only negative I’ll agree to is sometimes slow but what do you expect when you arrive at dinner time. Any takeaway will be slow between 1630 and say 1900 due to increase in orders! My experience now is both takeaway and restaurant. The food is always piping hot and delicious. I’d highly recommend the restaurant, it is relaxed and very good quality and you’ve got to follow it up with a SUPERSIZED sundae! Anyone who is thinking of coming here, believe this review and don’t be put off by other negative ones!

We nipped in here on the off chance for a table girls could not have been nicer we did not book but they sorted us out... We have been here before but did not review we have always had the best fish dinners here and even better Ice Cream.

I am a big fan of Equis Hamilton and having recently commenced work in Rutherglen thought I would try out the Cambuslang branch.The customer service from one of the female staff was appalling. Our takeaway order comprised of fritters and chips and curry sauce for lunch. The fritters given looked burnt and one portion was very small when I asked the female member of staff to change them I was spoken to in a very curt and hostile manner telling me they were all the same. I challenged her comment only to have her turn her back pick out another fritter and throw it onto the counter. I could not believe her attitude especially in front of who appeared to be the manager - male member of staff. Upon return to the workplace the food was so greasy and inedible it was thrown into the bin - £10.00 for a terrible lunch and hostile service.Maybe you have to learn from your Hamilton colleagues.

Always nice tasty food, milkshakes, ice cream and macaroni are amazing. Lovely staff always happy to help.

A fantastic wee siting chippy the quality and quantity is good and the staff can’t do enough for you the breaded fish is exceptionally good and always cooked to perfection and the chips are the best in the area

This one of my favourite restaurants in the whole world , I always have the fish & chips and my daughter has a pizza. The fish & chips are to die for as well as the ice cream you will be greeting with warmth by the waiting staff and the owner ( Tony ) always pops out to say hello. It’s a must visit for fish&chips.

Cant really eat there after seeing about every member of serving staffs fingers over the food in the hot plate..ignorise is bliss

Just literally walked out of Equis in Cambuslang with my son and I really can’t speak highly enough of the lady who served us. From the second we walked in she was brilliant and was really friendly with my three year old. She helped him chose what he wanted with his ice cram and gave him an extra special wafer. I had the lentil soup which was lovely, so much so my son finished the rest of it. The place itself is spotless and couldn’t have faulted the food or the service. The menu looked fabulous and very reasonably priced. Will definitely return even if it is for a wee cheeky family ice cream on a Sunday.

The gluten free fish and chips are the best I’ve had. BUT...don’t go at the dinner hour because they’re so busy they don’t have time to make the gluten free food. We’ve had to leave on at least 3 occasions because we were told they were too busy to do the gluten free versions.Why have a gluten free menu if you’re too busy to make the food???? How about hiring more staff.

Great eatery, clean, lovely decor, food is fantastic, never had a bad meal from many visits. My whole family love it. Waiting staff are always friendly and helpful. Portions are huge, and all freshly cooked to order. I'm not a fan of ice cream, but many a sundae have been consumed by my family. Booking recommend so as not to be disappointed as it's a very popular place. Pricing is brilliant, especially for a sit in diner. You can hardly buy a takeaway supper from other fish and chip shops for what you pay to sit in, get served fresh food, salad and coleslaw and other extras. The OAP fish is great for my elderly parents, served with tea, bread and butter and a choice of ice cream. Superb value, it's no wonder you are busy!

Nice selection of ice cream and hot food all served fast and quickly on a busy Saturday evening. Jelly bean and Ferrero Rocher ice cream was fab!

Great staff always very friendly highly recommend as they also do kids meals and OAP specials the fish and chips comes with salad + coleslaw kids get a free ice cream of their choice

Hubby and l took my daughter and her friend for something to eat. The staff were so welcoming, the food was delicious and well portioned. The deserts were scrumptious. Only thing that let it down was the small bottles of juice were £2.00 each , my hubby and l had 2 each my daughter and friend had 3 each so the juice alone came to £20 apart from that everything else was perfect. Will definitely be back. Girls loved it.

I visit this restaurant and have never had a bad experience. I was there on Saturday 28th April with two friends - one who had come up from London (she is Scottish) for a few days. They had never been before and to say they were impressed is an understatement. The food, as usual, was fantastic. The waitress was wonderful - nothing was a bother. My friend dines out regularly when in Rutherglen - took your number and I am sure you will be fed up seeing her - as the food and prices really amazed her. Well done everyone.

Went tonight for a takeaway. It was very busy so we had a long wait. We asked if our order had been forgotten as others who had come in after us were all being served. We were told we were waiting on items which was fine but the way it was said and the girls face was not good customer service. She also then proceeded to make faces at other customers not realising I was watching. The only reason we go to equis is the food is good but the blonde girls customer service is shocking and reading previous reviews it looks like I'm not the only one to find this. This has been the same for years now and I think good food or not we are done. Shame one person can put you right off as all the other staff seem great.

What used to be a lovely local chippy, is now a horrible place to visit. We should have remembered the last time we visited, but we that was a one off, but alas it wasn’t. What an rude arrogant counter assistant, the blonde one. I placed my order and she was feeding it into the till as I spoke, I had to repeat it until she told me how much it would be. It wasn’t until my husband added it up and we realised she had charged us for two suppers instead do 1 supper and a single and two fritters. When we asked about it the difference was slammed back at us, as if to say don’t blame me for the mistake. Food when we got it home was not what we were used to. So next time no we won’t be back, we will return to our favourite chippy where we know we are not getting ripped off and tastier food. Ok we will have to travel for it but it will be worth it.

One of the best fish restaurants in the area. The fish tea is the best and great value for money....and the ice cream?....wonderful!

Arrived at very busy time without having booked a table (5.40 on a Saturday). Staff could not have been more helpful. We were given a reserved table after being asked if 45mins was sufficient time. The place was buzzing and people continued to arrive. Despite being rushed off their feet, the waitresses were polite and friendly. This is what good service looks like. The food arrived quickly and was obviously fresh. Tasted delicious too. Can’t fault a single thing...... I even loved the background music. Very enjoyable experience. Well done ladies serving and all the background staff

This small, unassuming fish & chip shop restaurant could be easily missed if you didn't know where it was but it's a hidden gem. The food in the restaurant and the take-away is the same. The portions are very generous and delicious. I'd recommend the fish supper and the pepperoni pizza with its handmade base. Give yourself a great.

Live in the area and visit this place regularly. Complete change of restaurant staff about a year to 18 months ago. Young girls who were brilliant, friendly and fast service, unfortunately had to ALL leave. Visited this evening and when my daughters chicken goujons arrived she tried to eat them and the breadcrumbs were just really greasy. My daughter said to the girl that she didn't mind paying for something else, On saying to the waitress she took them away and offered something else and she would void this item. Two minutes later she came back and said the owner disagreed they were greasy and he was not substituting them. On asking to speak to him, he came out full of attitude and insinuated we were lying about the grease. On trying to discuss this with him his answer was as he walked away "don't come back". Well after all these years what a shocking attitude. On leaving the shop I informed him he was a rude arrogant man, He again became abusive and arrogant, at which point my 85 hear old mother got stressed and told him what she thought.Very poor attitude and no we won't be back. There is far too much restaurant competition out there to put up with this attitude when you spending nearly 40 pounds on fish and chips!!!!!

Fish & chips, pizza is great. Mac & Cheese yummy, Spaghetti bolognaise ,Great. really good ice -cream a bit pricey but very yummy. These are my favourites. Staff are nice.

Over £5 for what is clearly a half portion of chips and chicken. The place is a shambles 95% of the time but you're limited for choice in the area. Will venture to the chippy in Cambuslang main st. next time.

Took grandchildren for dinner (again). Husband and I really liked the fish. Children enjoyed the pizza followed by huge ice cream deserts which they struggled to finish, but persevered. Good food, friendly staff, good value.

We went here at my dads request for a fish tea some of us had fish teas some had Italian. I had pizza which was lovely all food was delicious restaurant very clean would thoroughly recommend and will definitely go back

Been going to Equis for years now and its taken me this long to review the place.Have sat in for family meals and big ice cream treats. Food is always great. Can never fault it or the ice cream. However sitting in is very over priced and means we dont go that often because we can eat else where a lot cheaper.Take aways are awesome and Equis is our local chippy of choice. Never disappointed where the food is concerned.However this cant be said about the counter staff at the take away section!!! Tonight I went for a Saturday night take away and came away thinking "that was different??"Then I realised the counter staff had changed. Lovely smiley girls who were super efficient but really friendly.... and smiling!!!! What a refreshing changed from the usual growling and barking you used to get from staff who just seemed stressed out all the time and pissed off having to serve you!!! It was really busy tonight too but the staff were happy at there work and got you your order without you feeling like you had just interupted them from a deep sleep!!So tonight I decided to finally write my review to thank the staff for making my shopping experience one I would expect and to make sure Equis gets the review it deserve for its amazing food.

Great to have a local chippy like Equis for their delicious fish and chips and ice creams. Also great to be able to sit in for their "Fish Teas" with tea and bread/butter, and it comes with salad and coleslaw. My mouth is watering just writing this! They do other things like lasagna but fish tea is my favourite. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is comfy and clean. My husband and I go a lot and always very good.

Excellent fish tea. If you want large, they will give you large 👍🏼You definitely get what you pay for. Small restaurant which caters for young and old. Great pensioners fish tea offer too. Ice cream to takeaway topped off the dinner. Worth a visit.

Absolutely adore the chips here, and have it with fish or sausage or curry sauce - everything is gorgeous! And the ice cream is actually to die for! Nutella is the best or Ferrero rocher, but all of the flavours are heavenly!

We used to go to Equi's but it had gone down hill a few years ago in my opinion. A friend had been recently and said it was much improved so decided to give it a try again and am so glad I did. They were almost full and that was at 4.30 on a Sunday afternoon, a good sign. The waitress was very friendly and fitted us in with a table that was needed back in an hour, no problem. The fish and chips were fresh (only minus was that the skin was still on the fish but minor point) and the lasagne was a good tasty portion, will definitely return.

The restaurant was reserved for our party. There was an excellent menu available of authentic Italian meals, although I chose lentil soup, battered fish and ice cream. A lot of the others chose the Italian meals, all the meals were cooked to perfection and the service was excellent . We would recommend the ice creams they are delicious.

Had a lovely meal here with my family. The fish suppers were good value for money & the ice cream is worthy of its high regard (I especially loved the Turkish Delight).The stand out though was the service. Our waitress was incredibly friendly & very helpful towards my baby son & my Grampa, who has hearing difficulties.

We took our grandchildren to Equis for dinner between Christmas and New Year, mainly because of their excellent ice creams. Having been before, we knew what to expect and we weren't disappointed. Pizza and fish, all of which were excellent, followed by an assortment of ice cream desserts (for the grandchildren) and coffees (for the grandparents). Great value. Great service. Well worth a visit.

Went here with members of family and close friends just before Christmas. No Christmas menu was a plus point, and we looked forward to chippie grub. Equi's didn't disappoint. I had the lentil soup, a must-have on a winter's day. Tasted great. I then had the pasta bolognaise. It was huge, piping hot, covered with melted cheese, and tasted fantastic. Lots of minced beef through it. Equi's own tablet ice-cream to finish went down a treat. The others had either prawn cocktail, bruschetta or chicken strips to start, then a chip-supper, pizza or pasta (the special fish went down a storm with those who had it). Choice if 20-odd ice-cream flavours meant that everyone got their favourite. Great food, and the price was not much more than a takeaway, so fantastic value. The restaurant was full, and the service was good considering our large party all needing to be served together. Whether for a party of two or forty-two, if you like pizza, pasta or fish 'n chips, I'd suggest you try Equi's in Cambuslang.

Well what can I say this is our local so we go nowhere else and wouldnt want to have tried others in the past but cant beat Equis!We order pizzas etc when having events such as today for son in laws birthday also often give vouchers for anniversaries and xmas so they can enjoy when suits .Sitting in or carry out staff always polite and very efficient. Food always hot and huge portions and well presented (photos in reviews dont do justice)

Well equis is not just famous for there ice cream which is brilliant.but also there chip shop there fish suppers are brilliant too.they have a restaurant too but can't comment on it just there children shop if u haven't tried it well it's worth a visit I don't think you will be disappointed

Equis is a small, casual cafe style restaurant serving typical fish and chip style food along with Italian and other items too, it is a first class ice cream parlour too and a special wee gem selling lots of award winning ice cream all at very reasonable prices.

i have used Equi's a number of times as a take away, everything is always cooked well, tastes good and good value for money also the ice cream is amazing i have tryed many of the flavours and they all taste great

Took two grandchildren for dinner on the last night of a week's visit because we wanted to give them a treat. We booked in advance, a good idea as it's not too big and, even on a Thursday night, was pretty busy. I ordered fish, excellent, freshly cooked. my wife had scampi, and the kids spaghetti Bolognese and pizza respectively. All went down well (literally as well as metaphorically). The pizza didn't look too exciting, though my grandson thought it was ok.For desert we had some of Equi's excellent ice cream. My granddaughter ordered a banana split. When the staff realised they had no bananas, someone was sent to the local supermarket to get some (gold star here).All in all, a great evening. good food, attentive staff and a friendly atmosphere.

Once again we had a carry out family tea supplied by Equi's chippie. We had various meals ranging from fish and chips, chicken and chips and haggis and chips. As usual everything was fresh and tasty and good value for money. Our sweet was Equi's delicious ice cream various flavours and as we have come to expect up to their usual standard. Never had a bad carry out from Equi's !

Had Dime Bar Ice Cream - I usually play safe and have vanilla or venture out and have mint choc chip; but I decided to be adventurous and have dime bar and it was delicious! I'll definitely be having that again. And the girl at the counter also complimented me on my jumper haha!

This Equis is in Cambuslang and is smaller than its sister in Hamilton so I advise booking to avoid disappointment. It is a takeaway fish and chip shop as well as a sit in restaurant and ice-cream parlour. The restaurant is small,bright,clean,lovely decor with some booths as well as tables. The staff are always friendly and will do anything for you. The food is always perfect( the special fish),the ice-cream to die for and the prices are decent too. We are here at least once a week for takeaway or sit in as our Grandsons love the place and its local to us. Recommend this wee hidden gem

Nipped in for a cheeky lunch and took advantage of the lunch menu which offered great portion sizes and discounted rates. We had pizza, fish supper, kids meal and sausage. All gorgeous and piping hot and bill was around 35 but we had loads to east and a few beers too.Great Wee place and food lovely.

Having travelled from Hampshire I stopped over for a bite to eat. Thank god I was hungry as the portion size is immense. Forget all your celebrity chefs who pontificate about the perfect fish and chips. Equis is the real deal. I had frequented their Hamilton outlet during my university years and this one has maintained the high standard of food. The fish is fresh and the batter immense. The fish is not dripping oil and the meal is well presented. My only complaint is the portion was so big I could only order a small ice cream (the ice cream deserves a post all of its own ) So if carlsberg ever decide to make fish and chips best they get in touch with these guys.

Really good chip shop food in a nice welcoming setting! The staff were nice and very friendly. You have to have ice cream after your food, that is what they are famous for. Nice big portions and for not much over £10 for a main, desert and a soft drink o thought it was very good value.I had the haggis followed by salted caramel ice cream. Will be back.

Food and service are consistently fantastic here! EXCELLENT value for money!!! Love going! Go often. Never had a bad meal yet! Why do SO MANY fish'n'chip shops serve up thin, gnarled, obviously bought in frozen, deep fried fish full of tiny bones???I have been using Equi's almost since it opened and have NEVER been disappointed. I'm the kind of person who could find bones in a jellyfish, but the fish from Equi's is always filleted properly. It's always as fresh as if it has just come off the boat. The frying oil is always fresh - not a hint of staleness - and the chips are never reheated. The food tastes wonderful, the portions humongous, and VERY reasonably priced. Lots of sides available such as mushy peas (again very generously portioned) and complimentary tubs of delicious coleslaw. AND they have a huge range of Company-made ice creams. You can buy fish'n'chip either as a standard or 'large' portion. Unless I'm ravenous, the standard size usually suffices. They have a nice little restaurant at the back, where they serve an extensive range of meals, including beautifully cooked Italian dishes. The service - especially in the diner - is extremely friendly and quick. You might have to wait a few minutes out front but far better that than being served something that has been left under the hot canopies. Trust me - the very reasonable waiting time will be WELL worth it!Cannot fault this place. It's wonderful to have such an excellent fish'n'chip shop in our area. Every bit as good as the places you tend to find only in the smaller seaside resorts.Highly recommended.

The food is always delicious especially the breaded fish.I have frequented this restaurant since it opened previously I went to Equis Hamilton The staff have always been very attentive and nothing is is to much bother.I have always discovered that staff are polite and and uniforms are spotless.

They have a big selection of dairy ice cream, lots of flavours, good serving size. The chip shop has all the normal items, well cooked and reasonably priced.

Equis is famous for their ice cream, but they also have a nice wee sit-in restaurant. Staff are friendly and the food is always fresh and well served. They also do takeaway. Good stuff !

My daughter and I went here to get a take-away but as we weren't in a hurry we decided to eat in the restaurant instead. We hadn't booked a table but we were accommodated fine. The 2 young ladies who were our waitresses were a pleasure to deal with, polite, friendly and cheery. After our order was taken our meal arrived about 10 minutes later, perfect. I had the fish & chips and ordered mushy peas, the waitress asked if I'd like coleslaw and salad and as usual eyes bigger than belly said yes, needless to say the coleslaw or the peas weren't finished. The portion size was fab, plenty of chips and the best crispy battered fish I've tasted. My daughter chose the penne pasta and she said it was delicious. 2 large meals and 3 soft drinks for under £20 - excellent value. Would recommend this to anyone and we'll definitely be back.

Equi's always lives up to expectations. They are a great "fish supper" restaurant, although the straightforward menu by no means confines your choice to fish and chips. The takeaway ice cream and chippie counter are always busy, as is the small restaurant (booking recommended). The service is friendly, and the fish always fresh and well-cooked. The chips are light , crisp and tasty. What more could one ask? Oh, they do a good glass of wine, too. Not being an ice-cream lover I can't comment on their ices, but Equi's ice cream is much loved and eaten, so others will no doubt review favourably.

Its a nice small place, good for lunch deal during weekdays. Can get very busy during the weekend. I like this place cos it is walking distance to where we live, nice selections of desserts. Good food too. Friendly staff.

Went to Equis cambuslang for dinner, Fish was the nicest I've had in a long time,chips were lovely too, Disappointed that I didn't have room for a pudding as every one I saw looked amazimg, My dad had macaroni ,it was a massive portion

Don't be put off by the fact that it is part of a chip shop take away, (which you might want to test out before you decide if the attached restaurant is to your liking).Nice wee local italian place for good and handy decent grub.

Family group of 7 visiting on a sunday - never been able to get a table until now so all good there. Very deceiving as you wouldn't expect a restaurant where it is. Fantastic food and all enjoyed it so will be back. The girl who was serving was very good and helpful. Saturday lunch, no reservation was seated promptly. The menu had good choices.service was prompt and the meals all came out together. Portions were good, but not too big - which is a good thing considering this restaurant makes its own ice cream. Fish and Chips for us, and burgers for the boys went down well.The desserts were fantastic - ice cream from every flavour you can want, Tablet, turkish delight, caramel shortcake jelly bean and bubblegum to name a few.Prices were also reasonable. Will go back

Sister lives locally and visits here on a regular basis. Best to book in advance as the restaurant is only small and is very popular - tables can be reserved or be prepared to wait.Food is nicely prepared and good value. Ice cream for afters is a must and the family visit for family occasions eg birthdays. Unusual ice cream flavour choices however best to choose before going in to sit down for your meal as the staff cannot remember all the flavours and there is not a list of them written down.There is a take away ice cream parlour in Motherwell where you can purchase sized tubs etc. with more than one flavour Recommend the Scottish Tablet flavour - gorgeous.

chose to dine for second week running first week service was very slow but put this down to being a Friday lunch time, on entering the second time we asked to be seated in one of their booths to which the young waitress was not impressed as all the empty dishes had to be shifted so we had to sit somewhere else, the young girl eventually arrived to take our order and after waiting for half an hour for two plates of pensioners fish and chips we asked about the delay to which some person called Tony came out and shouted this is not a fast food place and told us to leave the premises. I' am a lady in her late 70s and I have never been asked to leave anywhere before. DISGUSTING SERVICE

Our friends treated us to a meal here when we were visiting them recently.Living near Whitby, I was not expecting the fish to be much, as it is so very good in this area as a rule, but was pleasantly surprised at the good quality fish, chips, and salad.The tea-pots and menus have seen better days, and the 'background music' was rather too loud, but the meal was fresh and tasty.We had the double cream ice-cream which was absolutely delicious, and we look forward to trying other flavours another time. Altogether, a pleasant surprise.

This is a very popular restaurant with an unrivalled reputation for the quality of the food in particular fish. Along with my brother I went there in the afternoon of 27 March. The restaurant was very busy and we got the last free table. Despite this there was a single waitress taking and serving orders, settling bills, clearing and resetting tables.There are around a dozen tables so she was extremely busy but despite her workload she was very efficient and displayed a very friendly and pleasant temperament but was clearly under pressure.Considering the waitresses workload our meals were served quickly.Well worth a visit but come on management/owners give your staff a break and take the pressure of them and give this particular waitress a bonus. She earned it that shift.

Hadn't been here for quite a while but my wife and I decided to call in today for lunch and that was one of the best decisions we've made for some time. Forgot just how good this place was. I had fish and chips with coleslaw and salad, my wife had haggis, chips, coleslaw and salad. Everything was done to perfection and the batter was amazing. Service was excellent and the bill was very acceptable. We won't leave as much time before our next visit.

Went to this restaurant recently for a Seniors fish tea which was very good and great value.the only thing wrong with our visit was the state of the menus which were all dirty. Perhaps if they were laminated it would help the problem.

Decided to go for dinner last minute when we realised we had a Equi's 10min drive from the house. The waitress was fantastic she made sure every table was see to and they where all full nobody seamed to be waiting for anything. Was so full after dinner we decided to get ice cream for at home later ! Everything is good value would highly recommend it to all.

My friend and I are regular visitors here. The value of the lunch menu is great, especially if having a pizza or the fish, it's a good saving and they certainly don't scrimp on portion size! And of course it's always delicious! I've never had a bad meal at Equis!I've noticed most of the reviews criticise the staff or speed of service. I agree it can be a bit hit or miss with the waiting staff, some are more attentive than others. Although in fairness, if we had wanted fast food, we would buy from the take away counter. We are normally not in a rush and quite happy to take our time and have a good chat.Another comment, although we know the menus very well, it's about time you got some new ones printed that weren't either falling apart, pages missing or covered in salt / ketchup!

If you want to visit at the weekend, make sure you phone ahead and book a table. The staff in this place are amazing, very friendly service. They are fast and efficient and nothing is too much bother for them. The fish and chips are amazing and if you don't fancy that they have a reasonable selection of other meals. The seafood pizza is amazing. They also have a fantastic selection of ice-cream sundaes. If your looking for a takeaway, it's every bit a s good. Worth a visit.

Lovely restaurant staff really friendly order freshly made and you don't have long to wait.they also have a take away which always has fresh food .ice cream lovely x

After being ignored for 5 minutes because there was a wait on for fish and chips, I had to ask if I could place my order. The girl who serves the food was busy biting her finger and scratching her head!The fish and chips is good value and is delicious but the management need to take a good look at the servers customer service as it is disgraceful.More pleasant servers will bring in extra sales!You don't even get a please it a thank you!

It's a good job the food is good because the service is terrible. Everyone seems permanently on edge and the atmosphere is basically 'stop bothering us'. The blonde woman at the till is always fuming - no idea what her deal is but please get her into anger management therapy asap.

Service is shocking but food is great. Do not go and sit in if you are in a rush as they are very slow for taking orders and also getting the bill to you. Prices are ok and Fish bread crumbs and chips are amazing but would rather take away and feel unwelcome!

Attempted to order two large chips and gravy. Advised two members of staff of this and was told they were making gravy. After 10 minutes, the gravy appeared and they started putting the chips into a small container...."we don't do large chips and gravy as the gravy goes everywhere" - I thought he was joking but no, he was deadly serious. Not even an offer to put it in a separate container - obviously they are not interested in new custom. Travelled 5 mins down the road to another chip shop and bought my large chips and gravy there.

Equis is an old established fish and chip shop. The sit-in area is a good size. Service is excellent and the fish and chips are top quality. The take away food quality is the same as the restaurant. Great ! Great value too.

The Fish & Chips were excellent, the kids loved their meals, and afterwards we had an ice cream each from the ice cream section of the take awy.There were around 2 dozen flavours to choose from so it was pretty hard to make a decision, but don't worry as we've tried a dozen flavours between us and they're all excellent. And Cheap!
