Emma provided a FABULOUS spread for 120 people following a funeral at Stoke Gabriel church. Everyone was catered for and the food was exceptional, most notably the crab cakes, samosas and scones, with jam and cream of course. Aunt and uncle have lived in the village for more than 50 years and have dined at Emma’s many times, always speaking MOST highly of the restaurant, food and Emma herself. Thank you!

Another fabulous meal here. An excellent range of meals with a few specials. We had soup, scallops, slow cooked lamb and the hake special followed by banana split and banoffee pie. All of which were delicious, presented beautifully and well cooked. The staff are really pleasant, the service is spot on and there’s a nice ambiance. This was our third visit and we will return again.

This is a fantastic restaurant in every way. The staff are amazing and friendly, the food is beautifully cooked/presented and it is great value for money. We enjoyed a family birthday there and each of us said what a fantastic meal we’d had. I had scallops to start and pork belly for main. Absolutely top class - please support this small family-run business, you will not be disappointed.

A truly exquisite culinary delight in the village of Stoke Gabriel. My wife and I were fortunate enough to visit this lovely restaurant. From the minute you walk into this restaurant, you become keenly aware of a whole new level of both service and food. The portions are generous, the presentation of the food is inviting, and the flavours are out of this world. The scallops are divine, as was the roast lamb. I cannot recommend this place more. Emma and her team are outstanding. We will be back!

Whilst on holiday, we had both a takeaway and a meal in the restaurant at Emma's. The takeaway of a seafood platter was excellent. When eating in, the food was also superb - excellent scallops and cured trout as starters and, for main, a lovely piece of salmon and the most wonderful ribeye steak from the local South Devon herd from 2 miles up the road. Thoroughly recommended but you need to book as it is very popular with locals as well as holidaymakers.

Just how does she do it? The most amazing food cooked with so much passion, it’s been almost a year to get back to Emma’s and my god the wait was 1000% worth it, super relaxing atmosphere, happy charming staff, now onto the food, soup is beyond words absolutely amazing then onto the pork belly well another level of taste and texture the crackling was perfect and as always the wonderful variety of perfectly cooked vegetables complement a fantastic meal. John and Emma it’s such a shame covid caused your amazing little restaurant so much stress and changes but the Saturday evening we had tonight just reiterated why you guys deserve the right to choose your destiny. I was staying in Stoke Gabriel, a tiny village in Devon, over this last weekend and mine hosts recommended Emma's restaurant as the prime place to eat. I was not disappointed. A warm welcome to a walk in singleton, un-booked prospective guest on a busy Friday night, a quick review of availability, and I was quickly seated amidst lush Christmas decorations to savour the pleasant atmosphere. Having been advised by mine hosts that the restaurant was not licenced, I had armed myself with a bottle of white wine from the next door shop, this was immediately placed in an ice bucket. It was refreshing to read that, as agreed by Emma and the landlord of the Church Inn opposite, one could pop out and collect drinks at the inn and bring them back in and Emma's staff would return the glasses at the end of the night. No corkage, now that's got to be a USP! Despite it being bustling, I was quickly served, not, I take pains to say in any sort of rush to free up a table, but so I could satisfy the hunger pangs which had assailed my nostrils immediately on entry. I cannot recollect in my three score years and 10+, visiting a restaurant which offered three sizes of local leg of lamb meals with all the trimmings, small, medium or large, at such reasonable prices. I probably couldn't have home cooked it at that price! I of course ordered the large, a delicious convening of tender, tasty lamb in a fantastic sauce, all the trimmings, and a separate bowl of such crispy roast potatoes that I had to ask the waiter how they had been cooked. Sadly, he would not reveal that secret. My wine having been speedily consumed, I tested the arrangements with the inn across the road and returned with a large glass of port to go with my traditional desert. After all, I only had to weave my way back on foot across the road to my digs at the Post Box. Well done Emma, you thoroughly deserve your well earned reputation.

Food excellent. Staff pleasant polite & courteous. Ambience lovely. Setting ( next to the pub) wonderful. Why the dropped star? Smoking! On a balmy evening as it was on our visit, it was lovely to have the patio doors open to let some air through. It was also great to have the option to order a smaller portion size which gave me room for a fantastic crab starter! Very understated entrance and overall appearance belies the excellent food and service that so many people have rightly commented on. This is our second time there as we first visited a couple of years ago and happy to say things are as good, if not better than we remembered. The food is excellent and the portions are generous to say the least. They do not have an alcohol licence so you are openly encouraged to BYO wine or beer etc or you can even bring a drink in from the pub across the road. It's only open as a restaurant a couple of evenings a week so check and make sure you book well in advance.

We've been coming to Emma's for such a long time, for lunch, dinner, and have even been for breakfast, and we always have a nice meal. Really charming garden and full of fresh flowers, very pretty even just for a coffee or tea. Service is slow, if you are in a hurry, may not be the correct place.

We really enjoyed our dinner here on a Saturday night. Lovely ambiance and we like the fact that you can BYO alcohol and they will give you a cooler for white wine. We ate scallops for a starter, for the mains we had a special monkfish and hake dish, crab salad and pavlova. All the food was delicious! Highly recommended!!

Booked for a Saturday night, popped in with a bottle of wine half hour before the booking to ask if they could chill it for us - not a problem. We were seated in the conservatory which was really nice, food was of a very high standard enjoying fillet steak and home made faggots with fish starters, would definitely recommend.

We were recommended to Emma's by friends and visited the lovely Stoke Gabriel and Emma's for Sunday Lunch. The restaurant is very well laid out with lovely décor and is light and airy. We had two waitress attend to us who were friendly and knowledgeable about the extensive menu and were happy to make some recommendations. We opted for a starter, mains and desert and all were sublime. The restaurant caters for seafood and meat eaters alike and the portions are very generous and well presented. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing local produce. At the end of the meal which was very reasonably priced, we met the proprietors who were very friendly and were very gracious to our feedback. We will be eating here again!

Great wagyu burgers whatever the time of day! Fantastic friendly service by someone so enthusiastic about burgers. Not normally a burger fan but these... other worldly. I am yet to try the Halloumi burgers but I'm sure they are also awesome.

Very clean, organised barn stop offering a good selection of cakes and snacks. Also a great variety of drink choices. Clean and tidy tables and toilets. All offered on an honesty basis. I hope people respect this trust and pay for a lovely place to stop and refuel.

Fabulous and fun evening Went with friends and made more Love the sharing table The food was superb as always Struggled to eat the main courses as very full from the many starters. Desserts were delicious too Good wine Great service Would be lovely to say hello to Jane as we’ve been a few times but appreciate she is hot and tired after cooking soooo much and just likes to slip away.

We arrived in Dartmouth for a weeks holiday and after reading the reviews thought Bushell’s Upper Deck sounded great so we walked down to give it a go. It’s a pop up restaurant and it was its last night of the summer. They welcomed us, explained as it was their last night there was a limited menu. We had a super meal, starters of squid and garlic flatbread, followed by seafood risotto and American pizza, finished off with tiramisu and ice cream. Fabulous food, great service, very friendly and welcoming and fabulous views. We certainly struck lucky! Thank you!
