This is a lovely small hotel, with rich art deco decor. The rooms are warm, the bed is the best I’ve been in, in the week I’ve been in the UK. Feather pillows, thank you! The staff is stellar. I am a solo woman traveler, and I have been made to feel welcome, valued, and safe. It’s a 10 minute walk to the Micklegate entrance to the historic center of York. I decided to stay an extra day because I am so comfortable in this hotel, in this lovely old city. Highly recommend.

Room absolutely freezing. Heating system not up to scratch. Couldn't even change rooms and cut stay short by one day at own expense!

Really enjoyed our stay and the grand Elmbank York, a class above as part of the Tapestry collection. Beautiful, impressive public areas, well kept. Staff friendly, attentive, nothing too much trouble, thank you Maja and the gentleman who helped us with coffee on arrival Friday afternoon (sorry didn't get you name). Rooms well appointed, great air con! Hotel quiet, beds comfy so good night's sleep. Cooked breakfast was to order, so fresher and tastier than buffet style. Good selection of continental. Good coffee. Great location, a short manageable walk into the city. Not loads of parking, so plan an alternative. I would definitely stay again.

One of only 2 Tapestry Hilton's in the UK. 15 mins walk to the city centre. I was upgraded to a deluxe room and the quality of the finish was fantastic. Food was as expected, communal areas are beautifully decorated.

They should clarify that the beds aren't actually king size but 2 singles pushed together with a mattress topper. It's very obvious and did affect my sleep, had we known we'd have stayed at the premier inn 2 minutes away. Parking is limited but we got lucky, it's £10 per night and you pay when you check out.

Having stayed here a few times before it was always great. This time however not the case at all. Heating was on full and was like an oven everywhere... Very uncomfortable. Windows were sealed shut. Room was not serviced. Very poor . Will never stay again.

The Elmbank hotel offered a blend of experiences that left us with mixed feelings. The interior is beautifully decorated and furnished, all within the charm of a listed building. However, it's important to note that the absence of a lift, due to the building's historical status, presents a challenge. Our stay in the King George Walton Junior Suite, located on the ground floor, revealed some significant drawbacks. Despite being in the main building, the room was quite chilly during our visit. Thankfully, an electric heater was provided, which helped alleviate some of the discomfort. The en-suite bathroom, while stunning, lacked heating and featured single-paned windows, making it uncomfortably cold—this is not an exaggeration. I would caution that this room may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with sensitivities to cold temperatures. We booked our stay through the Hilton app, and Evie, who was delightful over the phone, answered all my inquiries. Unfortunately, she was on leave during our stay, but Caitlin, who took over, was equally pleasant. However, on our first night, I discovered some dried makeup stains on the bed linens, which was quite off-putting. Caitlin promptly addressed the issue and changed the sheets, even at 10 PM. The next morning, while enjoying the fantastic walk-in rain shower, I noticed several blood-like stains on the tiles at knee level. I made a mental note to mention this at checkout, as I believe it's best to avoid constant complaints during a stay. As seasoned travelers who review hotels and restaurants, I've come to accept that British housekeeping standards often fall short compared to higher-end establishments in Europe and the Middle East. Breakfast was a rather subdued experience. There were no Weetabix or fruit yogurts available, and the first slice of white bread I chose was hard. I opted for fried eggs instead. However, I must commend a charming Scottish gentleman on duty who was very engaging and added a touch of warmth to the morning. The dining room during dinner was quite charming, yet the hotel management should consider enhancing the visibility of the menu by placing it in more prominent locations. While parking is available, it is limited and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with a fee of £10 per night. However, as a gesture of goodwill for disabled blue badge holders, I was pleased to have this charge waived. At checkout, I brought to the staff's attention the stained tiles and bed sheets. The receptionist was very understanding and promptly called the Operations Manager to address my concerns. He was equally compassionate, and when I requested a discretionary discount on my final bill, it was granted to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, the issues with the cold environment are disappointing, as this is the primary reason my family and I may reconsider staying here in the future.

Good location. Good food (breakfast) BUT no kids menu so a walk to town for evening meal. Not really a kid or pensioner friendly hotel. If you get a room in the Lodge over the road be prepared to climb a lot of stairs. NO ELEVATOR IN THE LODGE. We booked three rooms, unfortunately they had them wrong but it was soon sorted. Limited parking and you have to pay to park on their own property if you get a space. Excellent staff members, very polite and can't do enough for guests.

Upon arrival, greeted by a lovely host at reception. She gave us all information needed for the short stay and we then went to our room which was lovely, Very comfortable bed. 1 dirty towel and a contact lense from past guests on the floor of the bathroom. The stay overnight was comfortable, with a 10 minute walk from city centre if you would like to dine out. The next morning breakfast for me was disappointing as the bacon looked like it had been in a bay Marie all morning, although my partner opted for the salmon which she quite enjoyed. All round 4/5 for me.

The hotel is lovely and oldy worldy and the staff a very nice and very helpful. Unfortunately a few things have let this down. The rooms were really well decorated and the bathroom was great . We stayed for 3 nights and every day our shower was tepid . The room wasn’t cleaned and cups was still in our room from Friday. The bed was made on the Sunday. Dust was around the room . One tiny bin in the bathroom. Also the noise in other rooms and landing was loud and you could hear every footstep . Toilets in the main hotel wasn’t cleaned either . I don’t believe the food is cooked fresh either and if you’re paying these prices it should be . I think these things are an easy fix and this hotel would be a stunning stay .

I visted on a Thursday for one night booked by my wife and I must say I was a little disappointed in the engagement of the staff as soon as we arrived there was no conversation didn't offer us breakfast or tell us anything about the restaurant, room was very dusty. went to the bar again no engagement from the barman asked if they were busy twice and ignored and rum and coke tasted like rum and water awful. the lady on the desk in the morning however complete different wanted to know what we were doing how we had been and even offered to look after our bags while we in town she definitely saved it from a one star.

Spacious room in the Lodge not maim hotel. Good price and in my opinion much better than the standard city centre type of b&b type hotels. Didn't use any services. Location is very good. Spot on for the racecourse and only a few minutes walk from the city. Lovely old style hotel. One word of caution, the room was too warm when l got back in the evening. I switched heating off when l went to bed. Because the heating is provided by hot air from a ceiling vent it took hours to warm up again. I'd certainly use it again.

We only stayed one night but immediately felt welcome on arrival with a super friendly hotel team. The hotel is grade 2 listed and the interior of the hotel has a beautiful art deco appearance. The bedroom we stayed in was lovely, modern and with everything you needed (with super comfy bed), but also managed to keep that period feel of the hotel. We were really blown away by how friendly and helpful both the reception and bar staff were and the bar area itself was cosy and relaxing. The hotel is just a little walk out of the centre of town (about 10mins), but is a very easy straight route (with some nice cafe’s and bar’s to stop off at along the way). Would definitely stay here again!

Great stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast options were good with the English Breakfast the better option. Found the room a little "tight" but bathroom spacious. A couple of minutes walk to either the racecourse or the city centre. Would certainly revisit given the opportunity.

Amazing hotel with amazing attentive staff, the room was really nice with every extra you can think of, we managed to get parking right outside but there is a public car park across the road. We didn’t eat there but had a few drinks in the bar which was like an old authentic bar and the seating are where you go in is like a stately home with lots of seating and a nice fire. Keep up the good work

An overall enjoyable stay. A classic hotel, that is timelessly refurbished to a high quality. My room was spacious and comfortable, and well suited to this old school hotel. A nice big comfy bed, and room to work with a good sized desk. The rooms were cool and quiet, however they took quite a while to get warm. The staff were polite and pleasant, with plenty of smiles to go around. It was nice to see them over the two nights I was there enjoying their jobs too. The restaurant menu was a bit limited, but the food was okay. It was cooked up quickly and was hot. Breakfast was continental, with a hot breakfast ordered on demand. Parking is paid for on checkout and VERY limited. EV charging is also onsite, but often blocked as it’s some of the few spaces available and cannot be reserved. Would stay again on my next visit.

Came for a murder mystery night and all the staff were so polite and welcoming. We missed our afternoon tea but the receptionist with cherry red hair and glasses was extremely helpful and got us it for the next day. The hotel is so gorgeous everything made us feel like we were in a movie. The food was delicious even as the picky eater I am I enjoyed it all. The hotel was also so cosy in every room was the perfect warm temperature to contrast the cold rainy weather outside. Once we got into the bed we fell asleep instantly as they were so soft! There was also a rainfall shower with separate shampoo, conditioner and shower gel instead the 3 in 1 in most 3 stars. Honestly can’t believe it’s only 3 stars should be 5!

Excellent hotel with brilliant staff. Nice breakfast. Very fast WiFi. Only negative is there’s only around ten parking spaces and none available when we arrived (£10 per night). There’s also a school directly opposite where you can park (again, if spaces are available but this is a rather hefty £18 per night). We parked in Knavesmire Road though which is free and 5 min walk from the hotel. It’s around a 25 min stroll into the city centre so the hotel is in a great location and pretty quiet. There’s the main building/the Courtyard and also the lodge across the road. I make hotel vids for YouTube and will be making one of this hotel soon. Search YouTube for Mark Richards Hilton for this and all my hotel vids.

We stayed at the Elmbank York, Tapestry Collection by Hilton on our way to Edinburgh, and we had a fantastic experience! It feels like you're staying in a house from a mystery novel. The rooms were modern, clean, and very spacious; they had the largest hotel bathrooms we have ever seen! The staff was incredibly helpful and consistently went above and beyond to assist us. The location was excellent, just a short walk from the main area of York, which made for a quieter stay. Overall, it was a fantastic trip!

My cats and I stayed in this lovely hotel, the staff was very welcoming and helped me out accommodating my cats. Located walking distance to the city centre and the room are new, clean, not noisy. Went to the restaurant here and there was only one staff member running whole restaurant and bar by themselves! As a result of this the service was slow but the main point is the staff member looked so stressed I felt so sorry for them! Definitely needs some improvement on how many staff they are putting on because it seems unfair leaving all this work to one singular person. Consider this if you’re planning on going here.

Wonderful Art Deco-style hotel very close to York city centre and train station. Great food and service. We love this place! We had a huge family room complete with velvet sofa and easy chairs. Big bathroom and walk-in shower. Comfiest hotel bed I have ever slept in. Fridge in our room - a big bonus. Decorated with exceptional attention to detail and delightful Art Deco features. Staff work incredibly hard around the clock. Really great breakfast choice and quality. We enjoyed our fresh fruit and yoghurt, fresh bread & croissants and delicious poached eggs with our breakfast. It was also lovely to sit on the balcony in the spring sun yesterday evening and enjoy a drink. We will definitely come back to the Elmbank! Thanks so much to all the staff for their tireless hard work! ❤️

The Tiger lnn is a traditional two roomed village pub. It is a Sam Smith pub, so there is the usual range of Sam Smith's beer, including the brewery bitter on hand pumps. As it's Sam Smith's pub, there are the usual rules no laptops, no mobile phones, and no music. Dogs are not allowed in the pub.

I signed a one-month co-working office space contract with Regus at York Tower Court with the contractual understanding that I would be able to park my vehicle every day without incurring charges. I have since however received dozens of parking charge notices from Ardpark, totalling in thousands of pounds worth of charges. I have been trying to dispute these charges with both ArdPark and Regus as my contract states that I should not be liable, but the parking company continues to harrass me and send debt collectors chasing the money. Both companies claim the other is at fault, meanwhile I am left holding the bag. I am having to get York Council and the local courts involved to resolve this shambles and my family has suffered a great deal of intimidation and harrassment at the hands of this predatory parking company. I expect Regus to resolve this matter for me but it has been 2 months now without resolution.
