Ellys Cafe in Croydon

2025 update, still visiting regularly and even though the prices went up so much everywhere, this place is almost not different pricewise years later. Origiginal review: Had a very nice English breakfast. Nicest staff, the best food and reasonable price. Will definitely visit again!

A proper treat of a south London cafe. The menu is wide ranging (applause for avocado and halloumi alongside more traditional treats), the food is delicious and consistently served quickly and to a very high standard. Staff could not be more friendly and welcoming, even to a new face like me who has only been coming for a few weeks. Well worth a visit or two!!

We have been coming to Ellie’s off and on for about 5 years. We visited last Saturday, after not having been for almost a year. The lovely and cheerful waiter remembered our usual order even after all this time. This level of customer service is hard to find. The food was delicious as usual.

I had yet another all round 5 star experience in Elly's cafe again today with a set 5 breakfast that was cooked fast and served with care and love. It seems that the staff know everyone who enter or at least make you feel special and an old friend. I'm astonished how hard they work as a team & gel well even when the cafe is busy & almost full. The presence of many regular bus drivers who have a long walk to the cafe from the depot confirms the quality of the food and the attraction of the 'Elly experience'. Most of the local traders on Brighton Rd choose to eat here too. I'm amazed how the family do it so well because the menu is extensive and it can get v busy to full.. Well done everyone!

Every couple weeks I come here with my boyfriend. The staff are very friendly and attentive but also give you your space as well. The breakfast arrives quickly and hot and they are reasonably priced. The outside of the cafe has a mini balcony. I sit there eating my meal. On a sunny day The sun hits the cafe beautifully and you can watch the cars and people walk by. It reminds me of a holiday cafe.

I have wanted to eat here for quite some time and found myself walking through the door on Saturday afternoon. I was greeted as an old friend and was shown to an available table at the front with my partner. We both chose a fry up option and I was able to change a few ingredients without any issues. I have eaten in a few cafes but honestly this was one of the best. Each ingredient tasted lovely and I was very happy with my selection - though I was unable to finish the plate.. I will definitely come back and try the rest of their menu.

This is my first time coming here and the staff made me feel like I've been going there for years. Scrambled eggs felt as soft as the pillows that I imagine are in heaven 🤩🤩... Decent portion too!. *Sigh*.... I feel guilty because I know I'm absolutely cheating on my fav cafe with Elly's cafe🤤

You know from the outset this is a great place. It's really busy, people coming and going all the time. Had full English breakfast and it was a very generous portion at a good price. Customer service out of this world. Best cafe I have tried in Croydon!

Standard English breakfast for a good price served with a pot of tea. Place was quite busy around lunchtime, but staff had been very attentive and friendly.

The most family friendly and warm welcomes at Elly's the staff are so delightful and attentive Food is always a photo finish and delicious (hot plates coming through) The magicians in the kitchen and my favs Tom x unice are wonderful Just a light breakfast today was too excited to take a pic ..had to eat up but I must say I'm so impressed With the frothest cappuccino ever with Oat Milk too.... yum!

The food was nice but they waited for me to finish eating before telling me they can only take cash because the machine isn't working. With a baby certainly was an inconvenience having to go to the petrol station to get cash.

Excellent customer service, great tasting food and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Good portion sizes and great value for money. Highly recommend the Spanish omelette. I'll definitely be back!

This cafe excels in all areas because the staff are very hard working, friendly, fast and the food menu is extensive. I cant fathom how they can maintain such delivery on a daily basis. The best endorsement is given by all the bus drivers who are prepared to walk 200yds to eat here. A discerning client base indeed!

Stopped with my partner for a breakfast the quality off food was terrible and very cheap everything on the plate had different temperatures worst breakfast I’ve ever had first and last time

What a fantastic, proper cafe. I love a great cooked breakfast. I am 58, had breakfasts all over the UK. In every type of establishment. This was outstanding. Absolutely outstanding. Service, choice, quality of food. Staff really friendly, helpful and understanding (took my old dad) cannot recommend Elly’s enough. Unfortunately I live in North Yorkshire but will definitely return when able to do so. So great to have fabulous bubble and squeak available. Fried bread amazing and tons of mushrooms. If you love a cooked breakfast, this is the place for you! Thank you Elly’s! Full of local people and workers. Great atmosphere.
