Stopped by for dinner, food was excellent and well priced. Staff were all great.

Nice experience. Not all the meals were available though. But there was plenty options.

After a long day of activities we decided to stick close for dinner, but wish we hadn't. The eating area was clean, which was appreciated. Started with 'focaccia', but calling it that feels like an insult to bakers everywhere. It didn't taste fresh and the texture was dense and awful. Fish and chips had a decent cook, but horribly bland. Made the mistake of giving 1 more opportunity for dessert, but the belgian waffle was hard and stale as well. Cannot recommend.

This is part of the Apex hotel . There restaurant was recently renovated. The service was excellent , very attentive. We were here twice on our trip to Scotland and the food was good . The restaurant was not very busy so it was easy to get a table but we were there slightly off season. The first night we ordered the Fish n Chips and Pan Fried Stone Bass, both dishes were delicious. The second night we both ordered the Roast Chicken which would have been great as well except the tarragon oil overpowered the dish . I would recommend less oil or have it on the side . I would return to try the other dishes.

On booking the hotel I was advised to book The Brasserie as it was likely to be busy, The booking was at 7.00 p.m. on a Friday night, all tables were cleared by 8.30 p.m. and the restaurant was less than half full. What I was not informed was that it was a 'soft launch' following their refurb., so it may getter better once they are more settled. The service was very good. Unfortunately the food was 'ok', small portion size for cost.

We had a lovely evening meal here while on Holiday in Edinburgh. The food was really good and our waitress Nanda was really friendly and welcoming. 10/10

Bang average. Two starters each included as part of a spa package. They were okay - one involved a truffle butter that hadn't been fully defrosted so was hard as a rock. Ordered two drinks, received two different ones. Ordered truffle fries, received plain fries. Burger was good. Wasn't particularly cheap considering four small dishes were included... Won't be coming back in a hurry.

We were lucky to find thus restaurant! So good we went back more than once! Food delicious and friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend.

What a lovely find! The staff were incredible and could not do enough for us even creating a dessert for my friend who has an allergy. The surroundings are beautiful and although you are right in the centre of Edinburgh it feels like a welcome escape from the busyness of Princes Street.

Visited last night (16th March). Food was great, really tasty but it was the service from Struan which really stood out. He was really informative and helpful, made the night even more enjoyable.

We loved it here. We are not hotel restaurant people just because of the wonderful choice around Edinburgh we like to venture out. But a couple of times we were too tired to leave the hotel and this place was a great option for us. The lemon chicken starter was so delicious. We got it to share but quickly realised we should've ordered two!! My partner had the pizza (for both sittings, which was freshly handmade and a good size pizza with generous topping) I had the fish and steak which were so flavoursome. I high recommend the Cullen Skink it was so delicious and such a unique way of serving it. Sticky toffee pudding was very nice. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful, they adjusted a cocktail for me which was so nice.

We went here for my brother birthday before going to the playhouse for wicked. Absolutely amazing service, outstanding food and I couldn’t believe the prices. We had 2 courses and the portion was great. Service was great, checking everything was ok for us and trying to make the experience perfect. My brother has special needs and they made his birthday very special. We all had a complimentary glass of bubbles including him. Very inclusive which we appreciated as a family. We had brought our own birthday cake however were all too full. They then brought us over a complimentary fruit plate. We go to Edinburgh for shows a lot but never tried here. We will be back! I’ve always found customer service in the capital quite poor. Elliot’s has restored my faith! Thank you so much for a lovely experience

Denne restauranten leverer ikke . Vi bestilte vanlig burger og asiatisk krydret kylling burger. Vi ventet i ca 40 min på maten og det var ikke masse mennesker der . Kyllingburger hadde ingen smaker og var så tørr at det knaste i tennene. Den vanlige burgeren var laget med litt smak men smakte som en vanlig norsk kjøttkake. Vi klagde på kyllingen og slapp å betale denne . Vi så også flere som klagde på maten . Så styr unna denne restauranten

Waited 40 minutes to be served for drinks. Waited a further 30 minutes for steaks. Mediocre at best.

Food awful. Haggis ravioli starter was lukewarm at best. Fish and chip main course awful. Fish overcooked and batter very hard. Scottish Burger looked horrible and my friend left most if it. Very poor experience. Very disappointing and would not recommend. I ordered a drink from the bar and was charged 10% for delivery of drink as well as a service charge being added to food bill. Won't be back any time soon. Restaurant has definitely gone down hill.

Last minute plans for dinner and it was a welcomed surprise. Garlic Pizza and Sticky Lemon Chicken starters were delicious. Had the Peppercorn Steak as a main and that was pretty solid as well! Also loved the Breast Cancer Charity when buying drinks. Can be a little hard to find since there wasn't a sign with the name anywhere but it's in the Apex Hotel passed the front desk to the right. Hopefully that helps!

NOT DOG-FRIENDLY. We walked for 20 minutes to find this restaurant because it was listed as dog-friendly. You don't see the name Eliot's anywhere. We entered through Apex Hotel. The menu says Tony's road trip or Singh's road trip. My husband went in to find the restaurant and make sure it would be OK to have lunch with our miniature poodle. A girl from the staff said it was OK. We went in and sat at a table only to be told by a young waiter that we couldn't stay because of the dog. The manager came out to confirm dogs are not allowed and apologised. Still not impressed. Train your staff better. Change the listing of your business on Google.

Tony's Road Trip Excellent food and wonderful staff Mayada couldn't do enough for us, she is lovely. If you've not been, you've missed out.

After seeing much hype about Tony Singhs Indian street food promotion we booked it for dinner but had a very mediocre meal served on cold plates. Underwhelming at best.

Masala Dosa Chatt unbelievably tasty. Huge as a side probably have as a main next time. Flavours jumping around my mouth!

This was a pleasant surprise. After a day of travel and then being caught out in the rain trying to find food we stumbled across this place. Though it was called Tony’s and was hosting a pop up chef. The menu was interesting with a wide range of street food that was an excellent value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed how kind they were. It was a pleasure talking to them. The food was full of flavour and we ate some interesting takes on street food classics. The tacos were slightly disappointing as they were hard shell, but otherwise I cannot fault most of the meal.

I enjoyed my food, but the service was a bit disorganized. The restaurant was rolling out a menu exploring Indian street food. Entrees were good, but drinks and ordering took too long and items we ordered were missed. Staff was friendly and tried hard.

The menu offered a rather limited variety of options and my soup was only warm and was served in an odd sort of triangular dish, with a moderate slice of bread. Service friendly but slow. - However, all the usual options were available for breakfast, for which I would give at least 4 stars.

Ate here before going to a show at Edinburgh Playhouse. Good variety on the menu at reasonable prices. Food was excellent and served by an efficient friendly waiter (Michael). We'll certainly come here again.

Found this place purely by accident as it was near our group's respective bus stops. Decided to stay for dinner. Great atmosphere in the more chilled and sophisticated sense, excellent service from the team led by Christian who helped with the wine selection, it's a place you could take a date to impress them; quiet and intimate but bang in the centre. They also do a deal for dinner which is great value. Our guests loved the food and it made a fine farewell dinner for them before we packed them off to the Highlands. Desserts were unusual in that they not too sickly sweet [I rarely bother with dessert for that reason but these were lovely] and i loved my Laksa which felt very healthy. They have local craft beers too.The other diners' food all looked amazing. Will keep this place in mind,

First class in all departments, highly recommend this place the food is fabulous far better than the Dome and the front of house Michael from Cuba was a pleasure to meet .

My husband and I dined here on our first night in Edinburgh. We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived at 7.30. We were seated at a nice, well lit table, although when a party of 6 arrived half an later, they were sat a row back where there is no lighting. I had soup which was nice followed by fish and chips which was disappointing. The small piece of fish was cooked in flavourless, undercooked soggy batter which I did not eat. Crispy batter is a must for fish and chips! My husband had squid followed by steak. He raved about both of his courses, and highly recommended both. The cheese board was also disappointing. 4/5 exactly the same oat crackers with 3 pieces of flavoured soft cheese which all tasted the same. An assortment of cheeses and biscuits would have been nice. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely visit again.

My partner and I had a pre theatre dinner here, the food was beautiful, cooked to perfection.

Me and my girlfriend were here for Valentine’s Day and were not disappointed at all! The food was amazing and unbelievably well priced. For starters we had the squid rings and haggis Bon bons, both were delicious and really well presented. Our mains were perfect I took a risk and got steak but it was so worth it! Cooked to perfection. My girlfriend also got a steak which she loved (also absolutely banging pepper corn sauce) The cocktails were 10/10 especially the espresso martinis. Good beer selection too. Our server Kieran was really friendly and attentive and even managed to crack a smile at my terrible jokes. Me and my girlfriend will definitely be back

I booked in four days out for Christmas lunch via the website. As it was a few days out I also called and spoke to them to confirm set menu and prices. I arrived and it was breakfast only, no set menu as promised and the service and food was average. Lucky I’m not a big Christmas person like a lot are or it would have ‘ruined the special day’. Food was average. Very much mass produced style. Waitresses were also average. Would not recommend

Nice hotel with loads of charm. In a COVID world some places have done well others appear to have struggled. This place is somewhere between. First night in Edinburgh and I was looking forward to kicking off in style. Somehow things did not feel right. Menu choice ok but somehow was not special, very much a feeling of an ok restaurant. I had well done Steak and my wife very rare. They turned up the same! Nothing really wrong but for that money and setting there was no wow factor, as we had on subsequent nights from lower standard eateries.

I had an amazing experience at this restraint while staying at APEX hotel. The food was amazing quality, fast service and the waiters were really friendly. Highly recommend the steak if you are a steak lover like me! 10/10

This place has had some mixed reviews which were actually from 2019 and doesn’t seem to get many reviews now, the previous reviews sounded good so were keen to try it again as it’s usually our go to place in Edinburgh! It is in a hotel! Menu Scan the QR code on your table by using phone camera - this is not track and trace, if you scan it it brings up the menu, this is for covid reasons but waitress seemed happy for those struggling with this to give a paper menu! Plenty choice on menu - we had fish and chips which I thought was a rather small portion but surprised as to how filling it really was! For dessert we had a vanilla cheesecake which was also lovely! The booking process for this restaurant is simple just book online which is what we did and loads of times left! We felt safe here, tables were well spaced out and it wasn’t very busy, the main thing is as long as the food doesn’t make you unwell I’m pleased and it didn’t!

Really poor experience, which is a shame because the Apex Hotel is superb. The waiter greeted me with “I’m not qualified to seat people”. What???!!! I was served by 5 waiters, including the manager, and none of them made me feel welcome or looked after. Waiters spoke to me across the restaurant floor “have you ordered” instead of coming up to the table. I wasn’t asked if I wanted any condiments or how my food was… Food isn’t brilliant. I had a beer burger which was poor, especially for the price (McDonalds is better). The patty still had a bit of foil on so it’s clearly not cooked to order, instead cooked in advance and kept warm - its a burger they’re supposed to be freshly cooked!!! My chips had more salt than the Dead Sea. Salt and pepper are a personal choice to add. My partners risotto with the fish just tasted to vegetable stock and had no other flavour. We paid £50 for two, two course meals and two cocktails and for me, and most, that’s a lot of money and it certainly wasn’t worth it. I honestly would’ve had a better experience at a Wetherspoons and I wish I went. Do not go to this restaurant.

Awful. Possibly the worst dining experience of my life. Would leave 0 stars if possible. We arrived at a table we highly suspect had not been cleaned and reset, owing to the fact that half of the cutlery on the table was missing and that couple that had been sat next to us had moved across from our table and had all of the items we were missing (napkins, wine glasses etc). The beef teriyaki starter we ordered was lukewarm at best, but mostly cold. We ordered a cosmopolitan which was tasteless and seasoned chips with no seasoning on them. No food checks during the meal so we had to physically find people to make aware of the problems. To top it all off, during the dessert, we ordered a creme brulee which arrived with MOULD on the raspberries. Then we were made to wait 20 minutes to pay the bill, even though the restaurant was dead Absolutely would not recommend under any circumstances

Elliots Restaurant in Edinburgh is always a must when in the area doing some shopping, quick & easy to book a table online and the staff are always fantastic! I was down visiting some family in the area from Aberdeen and fancied a spot of dinner, so booked for 7:15pm, upon arriving we were greeted with a very helpful & polite waitress who showed us to our table. They no longer have menus to view it can all be done via your mobile, which is easy and very covid friendly. Our drinks order was taken first by the manager, she was so friendly & bubbly, and had a very good sense of humour which is what you want when dining out. Myself, Dad & Brother all had the Burger and asked for Cheese & Bacon as an extra to which the waitress had to issue with doing, my Mum then had the Steak Sandwich. Around half an hour later our food was served, roasting hot & well presented. I would definietly give the food 10/10, the burger was just right & the steak sandwich was delicious. The restaurant is modern, classy & bright, with tables spread out & served with a jug of water as you are seated. Elliots Restaurant has not once let us down, the food is always to a high standard, staff are great and its centrally located to Edinburgh Waverley making it the right choice for an evening meal. Highly Recommend!

Was very lucky to find this place and it's amazing set menu. Three courses for £22.50. Haggis, neaps and tatties bonbon in a whisky mayonnaise, sea bream and lemon risotto main followed by choclate fondant with rhubarb and ginger ice cream. Beautifully cooked and presented food. Lovely wine. Fabulous evening.

Typical posh superfucial but devoid cafe in Edinburgh. Arogent assistant served me an espresso in a large cup , then tried to palm the blame back to me when I'd stressed in clearly that I wanted it the tradional way. Making and serving a decent espresso is not rocket science. The cheeky co w had the termancity to swear at me when I got up to leave. These people are a joke they charge loads of money for a small coffee but cant even switch their mind on for the basics. The gormless manager then came on the scene and offered to pour the already made shot into a smaller cup. If you just want to go somwhere to come and look self important on your lap tap and not too bothered about quality this is the place for you. I've had coffee in here before and its always hit and miss .

Visited with friends for our Xmas get together and everything that could have went wrong did. 40/45 minutes after arriving before we got a drink and we had to prompt staff to take our order as nobody asked. Then the first drink that arrived was something that had not been ordered. Some of the starters arrived shortly after but most of them were lukewarm at best and two of them didn't appear until at least 15 minutes after the rest had been finished. Mains started arriving before the starter plates had been removed and none of the staff seemed to be in any hurry to clean the table. One of the burgers was completely raw, one undercooked and one came with plain fries instead of cajun. When we mentioned to staff the plate was taken away for a few minutes then reappeared with the same fries only it looked like one had been covered in black pepper. When we questioned if this made them cajun the waiter just kind of shrugged his shoulders. 2 fish mains never turned up for about 20/30 minutes after the other main courses. One came with thai mash potato despite being ordered with plain mash. Waitress went to speak to chef only to return 10/15 minutes later saying that is the only way the potatoes came and would we like to order something else. She then reappeared saying that it turned out steamed potatoes were an option. When these finally arrived the potatoes were hard. Staff started to take away the finished main course plates before my grilled plaice had been served. When it arrived the fish was ok but the wild rice tasted like a bowl of salt and the mussels were horribly overcooked. In between this we managed to order a second round of drinks. A bottle of beer and soda water were served without the bottle tops being removed. It was about 5 minutes between the beer being taken away and brought back open. In general staff seemed disinterested and one of the more senior members of staff was almost argumentative when we asked why the service was so poor. Thankfully following a number of discussions and negotiating we ended up only effectively paying for 1 round of drinks and the rest of the bill was waived but this didn't really make up for what was a terrible experience.

We ate breakfast here while staying at the hotel. We had an amazing meal with our children and the range of options was very good. My granny requires gluten free food and they couldn't do enough for her. Kim, our waitress was outstanding!

Nominalmente un restaurante, Elliot's es ante todo un comedor para las personas en los recorridos en autobús que se hospedan en el Apex Waterloo Place Hotel. Mi esposo y yo nos estábamos quedando en el hotel por nuestra cuenta, sin el beneficio de un recorrido en autobús. Habíamos reservado a través de Expedia y nos dieron un 25% de descuento en nuestras comidas en el restaurante, lo que pensamos que aprovecharíamos. Fui al restaurante a eso de las 5 p. metro. No había nadie alrededor, pero finalmente apareció una mujer joven y le pregunté acerca de hacer una reserva. Parecía confundida de que quisiera hacer esto (la primera señal de problemas) y me dijo que no necesitaba hacer una reserva pero que podía hacerlo si quería. En retrospectiva, entiendo que ella asumió que estaba con un recorrido en autobús como todos los demás cenando esa noche en Elliot's. Así que hice una reserva para las 7:00 p. metro. Cuando nos presentamos a las 7:00 de la mañana, el muy nervioso maitre d 'nos dijo que no había mesa para nosotros, podríamos tener un asiento en el bar y nos llamarían cuando hubiera una mesa. Nos dieron una bebida gratis, lo cual fue amable de su parte, pero, sinceramente. Nos alojamos en el Apex Waterloo Hotel y decidimos probar el bistro del hotel. Es un entorno contemporáneo y el personal fue muy amable. El menú es la comida normal de un bistro: risotto, pescado, aperitivos creativos, como ravioles deconstruidos y una deliciosa sopa del día. Me temo que ofendí al camarero al pedir más hielo para mi gin-tonic, pero él pareció tratar de ocultar su consternación.El servicio se interrumpió debido a un pequeño incendio en la cocina (no se dispararon las alarmas) y los camareros se disculparon por la demora e hicieron todo lo posible por atender a todos una vez que la crisis terminó.

Lo más destacado de la visita aquí fue el maravilloso servicio de la señora en el bar que terminó alrededor de 1. 15 . Parecía inmaculada y era muy profesional. Ella hizo que nuestra visita fuera muy agradable con su atención al detalle con respecto a los vasos refrigerados para nuestro vino blanco y su manera encantadora. La joven que se hizo cargo realmente necesita mirar su ropa como el traje parecía manchado y bastante apretado, pero estaba muy atenta. La comida que tuvimos estuvo bien, pero el entrante no estaba caliente. El plato principal era encantador, pero el postre fue un poco decepcionante. Mis amigos estaban llenos de un trozo de hielo y no eran comestibles. El servicio fue bueno y el vino blanco era bueno. Una experiencia bastante decente para 40. 00 para dos personas, pero no creo que volvamos a aceptar la oferta. Visitaremos el bar nuevamente y esperamos experimentar el mismo gran servicio y desearía haberle preguntado el nombre de las damas.

Normalmente no me gusta comer en el restaurante del hotel de ningún hotel, pero esta vez, estábamos bastante comprometidos.Desayunamos en tres mañanas. We had a late lunch for two couples. We ate around 2:30 and there were only 3 tables occupied. I actually think that there were more staff than guests. Therefore, I think it lacked atmosphereThe food was ok; I found my pork and black pudding main course tasty but unfortunately rather cold. On the plus side it was very good value for money.

Eight of us had a fantastic meal last night. Service was great and the food exceeded all our expectations. The wine is a favourite of mine so I was in heaven.Time was taken to help me with my gluten free choices and nothing seemed too much trouble. I've been before many times and always love the experience. The girls I was with were very impressed. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Booked midweek for 2 on a 5pm deal which included 3 courses each and a bottle of wine. Great choice with food well presented and very tasty. All staff attentive, friendly and courteous. Great experience and will return.

Fantastic meal in lovely setting within the Apex Hotel right off Princes Street. Great choice and value for money. Four couples were in our party and we were all delighted and would return soon. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great find!

We had a delicious meal at this beautiful restaurant. The Staff were so attentive, especially our waiter... didn't get his name, but he went above and beyond to ensure everything was ok with our meal.

The welcome, the service, the ambience, the food, the price. All of it ... simply brilliant. Consistent service regardless of waiter or waitress, chilled and relaxed but still served and attended to quickly and professionally. Just awesome.

All 3 people in our party thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Elliot’s. The starter of haggis, neeps and tatties was especially delicious. Perhaps the chef should consider a larger portion as a main course. The mushroom tartlet, while very tasty, had a crust that was a bit on the brittle side. The whole experience was relaxing and aided by a very attentive staff. I’m sorry I didn’t make a note of everyone’s name, but our interaction with Rory was delightful.

We had the 2 course special, even though we had ordered the 3 course, we were full after the 2. Service is great with a nice contemporary atmosphere, well worth trying.

Nothing fancy, Food was good. Not the cheapest but not overly expensive either. One thing I was missing was a set menu price or a today's special.

The waiter we had when we first sat down was very attentive. When he left everything went down hill. So my family and I were not very happy with the service. We were not asked it we wanted dessert or coffee or even more wine, had to wait until we asked for our bill did they remove our dirty dishes. Found the area where we were sitting a bit dirty.

A shambles But the breakfast was nice and hot and reasonably tasty. Full British Breakfast. Make your own toast using conveyor toaster passing bread through twice not brown enough pass through three times it was black!

Elliot's at the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel is one of the best breakfast I had during my stay in Scotland. I had booked a breakfast with my stay and had a wonderful time eating away to glory. The menu selection was great and I had 'Harbourmasters breakfast' i.e. grilled Loch Fyne Kipper with melted butter. A great way to start a day. The service and the food was great. Loved it.

Restuarant expensive but nothing standout. Some discounting available, check online. Appears to be mainly hotel residents.

Maybe we just ordered poorly on an off night, but the food was just so-so. Enjoyed several other restaurants in the area much, much more.

Si vienes en agosto, asegúrate de reservar con antelación ya que suelen estar completos para cada comida y hay una razón por la cual. SERVICIO y CALIDAD, quisiera agradecer personalmente al hotel y al personal por todo lo que hicieron para que nuestra estancia fuera tan increíble.

Comimos en un Elliot's 5:00; 3 campos de oferta y una botella de vino para 2, 40 libras, gran relación calidad-precio, la comida era deliciosa y el personal muy atento. Pero por desgracia, el vino de la casa un italiano White fue espantoso y desprestigia un poco. Comimos temprano, sobre las 4:00 y el lugar estaba vacío, que era triste porque la comida era muy sabrosa.

We've eaten here a few times and love coming back as the food is tremendous and good value for money. The service can be a hit or a miss but tonight it was excellent.

More than Nice! It was very enjoyable, the food was very well presented and tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed the chicken which was very tender and my guests loved their Burgers & Fish mains. Downside was the heavy Bread & Butter pudding. Overall, three courses was excellent value for money £40 for two incl. bottle of wine. Will return.

Como alguien que ha visitado el Edinburgh Playhouse en innumerables ocasiones es genial encontrar un lugar diferente para una comida antes. Elliot en Apex ofrece una ubicación a sólo unos minutos a pie del teatro con una gran variedad de comida y, por suerte, local y beveridges escocesa. Un poco "escondido fuera del camino", a pesar del tamaño del edificio, ya que no está en la calle Princess y el ojo público obvio. Dar una oportunidad a este restaurante ya que los precios son razonables, la comida consumida era genial y disfrutamos muchísimo y el personal amable. Un entorno bien también y un paso hacia el teatro. Volver aquí!

This is the restaurant in the Apex hotel. The food is really excellent - from the soup to the home made apple pie. Really good prices for such a lovely restaurant and great staff - worth a visit

Booked Saturday night, 3 courses and a bottle of wine on 5pm.....So glad I did! Excellent food and staff were very attentive. Highly recommended. I was surprised how quiet the restaurant was but I didn't know it was there either! A hidden gem!

Spent a lovely Saturday evening in beautiful surroundings enjoying delicious food and very nice wine on the 3 course dinner and wine for 2 for £40 deal what a bargain staff were friendly and helpful 😊

Here on a 5pm deal. 3 courses and a bottle of wine £40 for 2 people. Food was delicious, very nicely presented. Staff attentive without being in your way. Nice decoration would go back.
