Worst experience we have encountered. shabby establishment. Dirty tables and floor. Standard of food the lowest we have encountered ever. Carvery very limited and quite frankly disgusting.

Me and my friend had just missed out on the buffet breakfast on Saturday but we managed to get the 11:30am Carvey. Boy was it good! It all looked amazing I wish I had taken a picture but I was too hungry. The carvery veg was to die for probably the best it’s ever been. And the Carvery chef Alex was lovely! We hope next time we come it’s the exact same cos this was the best I’ve ever seen or tasted it he’s definitely doing something right!

Absolutely fantastic breakfast this morning. Full buffet all looked fresh and all tasted great and very hot. All the staff were lovely and we got some lattes as well which were pipping hot just how we like them

Extremely busy lunch here on a Thursday, felt sorry for the girls working they apologised many times of the waits. But we throughly enjoyed our time and glad we weren’t the ones working! Looks hard work. Food was good and we took so cakes to go home

We were here yesterday morning and had a great time. We ended up coming to the tale end of breakfast so a couple of us got the buffet and others got the small item menu. We were looked after by the staff and enjoyed our visit

Ordered 2 meals from the “Weekday Set Menu” - two courses for £8.49. I expected it to be a small portion, but it was all very bland. Ordered the fish and chips. The peas were tasteless and the fish really small. The chips were OK, but nothing more. We also ordered a starter on its own - it came separate from the other two starters. It was Nachos and came with the tortilla chips, cheese and sauces, but the jalapeños were missing and we had to ask for them to be brought. We ordered 2 soft drinks, but on checking the receipt had been charged for 4. We had to speak to them about this and get that rectified. I am now sitting having us all finished 3 starters and 2 mains, and all the dishes are still on the crowded table - I would have expected them to clear the dishes from the starter when they delivered the mains - but no. Food of a basic standard, but nothing special. Staff very inattentive, which is unexpected as they aren’t exactly busy.

Probably the worst meal I have had in a very long time. My burger was cold, my wife's "luxury" macaroni wasa white bowl of slop. On the upside, the staff were nice

We both got eggs Benedict and it tasted really nice normally we go for the all you can eat buffet changed it up this morning. We didn’t know what to expect but it tasted very good. Shannon got our blue light working on the app and got us on the wifi which was very helpful. Miha served us at the buffet and was very nice

Came in on Tuesday morning it was a lot calmer for breakfast than the one we had at the Easter weekend. Was fantastic the girls working were attentive. Food was hot and plenty there to choose from.

Visiting twice on our Easter Weekend away as the food and the staff are amazing 👏. Gotta say the carvery is the best I have ever had. The roasties and the gravy where just perfect 👌... just like my mum's roast. So thank you for every thing. Huge shout out to the chefs for a beautiful meal 😋 and to David who was funny and looked after us .... 😀 will deffo come next time we are in Edinburgh

We had a table booked for eight people and everything was perfect. Friendly and helpful staff, wheelchair access was excellent. David was our waiter and he was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended for good food and excellent service.

Knew the place could be busy but Friday breakfasts definitely are!! So pre warning. Other than that it was a great breakfast all you can eat and add the unlimited tea and coffee. Fantastic service we got handed a little review card and thought that was a great easy way to do it

Wow we had a large party booked in for breakfast today and we were looked after so well by all the team. Got seated fast, juice and coffees arrived fast. Food was hot and tasty and you could go up as many time. Nice way to break up for the Easter holidays thanks again to the staff working this morning

Came for breakfast on a Good Friday and it was sooo busy. Breakfast was hot and tasty and was quick and easy to get. It’s help yourself so you can have as much as u like. The guys working and the manger were all working hard and all very nice

Busy at times and always best too book even on a week day. Got seated fairly fast was a little wait for drinks but the food came quickly. Girl who brought our food and the young boy who cleared our table was nice. The kids area is great and kept our wee one occupied.

Dinner tonight was lovely we did have to wait a wee bit for our drinks but the manger who brought us the food was so kind and got it sorted right away. We filled our plates too full and ended up not eating it all but Carvey was nice. Took cake home for another day

Had the carvery and meat was well cooked, veggies were a bit overcooked but tasty. Staff were friendly and efficient and the table areas were well laid out and clean

Popped in on Tuesday For some cake away! The manger was really helpful and knew her stuff about the cakes! So made it easy for us to choose and then we grabbed some scoops of ice cream as well all tasted amazing

Worse lasagne I've ever had felt like eating soaked rubber swimming in grease. Friends chose the luxury macaroni. They also said the worse they've ever had. The luxury part was supposedly the roasted French onions side that we had to wait on as they hadn't...

The food here was great the meat just melted in your mouth the veg was cook perfectly, The only problem I had was finding it on the sat nav lol

Was served by a young lady Cloe, nothing was too much trouble. She had great knowledge of full menu and helped with our choices. Will definitely make sure we deal with her again on our next visit.

Been for breakfast and what a deal! Buffet style & including tea/coffee & toast. Even with covid measures it can't be beaten. Busy at weekends so make sure you book to avoid disappointment.

I have not being going out much after lockdown but was very impressed by the standards that this place had put in place to not only protect their customers but also their own staff. Despite everything going on the team here were friendly, informative & happy and it is such a shame that pubs like this have had to close.Hopefully it will not be for long as I for one are keen to visit again very soon.

States bottomless coffee yet upon going to get my second coffee I was told it had been taking away for setting up lunch granted we came in 5 minutes before 11 but the coffe or and alternative should have been available as the breakfast does state that

Went as a family of 4 very good carvery was good but more meat would have not gone a miss otherwise very good veg plenty to choose from beats Toby by far will be our new carvery from now on recommend the cake and ice crème as well very clean place !

Was well impressed with the amazing attitude of Sean our host, he was very friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure everything was OK and our experience was a good one.Also Daniel behind the bar had an excellent customer service and very friendly and helpful. And one other thing the food was delivered quick and accurate and tasted pretty good for the price and the cakes are fab!!!!

Me and the family popped by for breakfast, we were shown to our seats and the process was explained.It was a buffet style breakfast, there was plenty of choice and the food was cooked well and was nice and hot. Coffee/tea and toast was also included in the price. Overall it was thoroughly good value for money, good service and we will definitely be seeking a Farmhouse Inn when were next on our travels.

Have been in a few times, has gone down hill since first opened. Very average . Baked potato was still hard, carvery bland. Staff are very good and work hard but think menu to big to be done to a good quality

Family Sunday dinner ; good carvery and decent portions , veg a bit overdone but for the cost all was good , kids loved it and the cakes

Relatively ‘cheap and cheerful’ but lacked atmosphere and quality. Toaster didn’t work, food a bit mass produced and greasy. Nowhere near as good as the Dobbies breakfast across the road.

The Carvery was disappointing especially when the chef only gave wafer thin slices of beef and turkey but good choice of veggies albeit some were a little on the hard side so not able to eat them. Wouldn’t chose this option again 🙁

We booked the Elginhaugh for a family meal. We were left waiting for our table for 10 minutes as numerous members of staff walked past us and ignored us. Eventually we managed to get the manager to seat us. We were seated at a dirty table and asked him to clean it which he said he would. 20 minutes later, we decided to clean the table ourselves. The food arrived and was ok but the food was never cleared away- we had to clear the table again before our deserts came. The restaurant was by no means busy and overall service was very bad. Manager was aware of us not being happy but did not make an effort to improve our experience.

Visited elganhaugh farm food was lovely makes a change to actually have hot food on the carvery some places have cold dried out veg , but here it was fresh & hot , staff were pleasant especially the guy on the bar Scott his customer service was excellent ,he was very welcoming, very approachable nothing was too much bother for him, I would recommend this place .

Very healthy portion sizes and very friendly staff, a great place to come for a meal, we will definitely be back.

My family and I are just home from elginhaugh, this place is becoming a favourite with my boys aged 10 and 7 the menu has a great variety of meals that the boys can choose from alongside the choice of carvery. I love the kids area as the boys don't have to sit at the table 'bored' if dad and I are still eating. On our visits the food has always been great, I LOVE THE CARVERY! the roast beef was cooked to perfection ❤ the staff were all very welcoming and pleasant, my son was fair chuffed he was asked if he wanted to take his cake home although it wasn't in the best state (as you can imagine after a child's been hacking at it) The only thing I would say is the meat carvers could use a little smile, i fully understand its a long day standing behind that counter over heating, but it's a pleasant place and you kinda feel like your being a nuisance going up and asking for your meal.

Went here on Thursday 1st November. As soon as we walked in, we should have just turned and walked out. But we decided to give them the benefit of our doubts. Queue was about 25 people waiting to place orders for dr8nks and food. There were at the point 2 members of staff behind the bar, but very quickly, this went down to 1 staff member. Staff were running around trying to clear tables , running with plates of hot food, all.while trying dodge kids using this place as their own playground. After getting the wrong order, I went to speak to duty manager, who just kept repeating, "We're short staffed and only have 4 front of house servers". If that was the case the place should not have been open. Having said all that, it is good value for breakfast, nothing like the shambles in the evening. One further point worth stating, some adults dump there kids in the play area and use it as a creche. My 3 year old grandson was assaulted by 2 horrible people old age I might add, but because they were regulars, staff refused to give the police the offenders names.

A large free car park. Nicely welcomed and shown to table. Food served nice and hot. Nice views. The menu had lots of choices.

Food has always been highly enjoyable with several dishes I would recommend. Great customer service and a nice dining environment.

Buffet style breakfast for under £5 along with your bacon,sausages, fried egg ect.you get as much eggs scrambled, baked beans hash browms.toast,tomato as you can eat.

The menu is fairly comprehensive and we chose a smoked bacon and cheese burger & the smothered chicken. Both we very tasty and excellent value for money. Only one ery minor issue with the food - the onion rings were cold and as tough as old boots ☹️. They did offer to replace them but with such a full plate already I declined. Highly recommended.

I must admit to being a "regular" but of late becoming increasingly disappointed with the Elginhaugh. On a recent visit, Saturday lunch time, we had to wait 20 minutes in line to be served at the carvery. There was no apparent good reason for the delay other than that the fellow who was carving was ridiculously slow in carving and constantly left the area to pick up plates. knives, vegetables, meat, etc. There was no management around who should have been able to organise the situation better. I did ask one of the waiting staff about the delay and was surprised to be told that if I come on a Sunday the line is twice as long! Dishes from the menu are perfectly acceptable but if too many customers take this option then I am afraid the problem is only moved along and not necessarily solved. I noted that they are taking bookings for Christmas, if the Elginhaugh can not cope on a Saturday lunchtime in October, there is definitely no way they could cope with Christmas!

We ordered a mixed grill but could not get it as they were out of steaks. Bit disappointing as it was our reason for choosing there. We got all day breakfasts instead. The portions are big and the food is tasty. The menu is varied and has lots to suit all budgets. Their cake selection looks amazing. Miss their banana splits from the dessert menu. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of seats to pick from. We would recommend.

Arrived and got shown a table right away, staff here are always so nice, loads to choose from on menu, had fish chips, was great, couple us had carvery, which was sooooo good, will definitely return,

Food was ok. Had to wait at the carvery section for at least ten minutes before anyone acknowledged us even though the place was over staffed. I spilled my drink over and received no help whatsoever with cleaning it up, yet a staff member came and stood a meter away from our table just to stare at my girlfriend (she’s heavily tattooed) for what felt like forever. So so so rude and awkward. We promptly left.

We stopped here on our way back to FIFE. We had a lovely lunch. Good menu choice at very reasonable prices. Food was good

Wetherspoons system pay at the bar. Feel sorry for waiting staff for tips are seldom. Foods good and poisoning is plentiful.

Came for lunch had the Farmhouse burger and Hunters chicken. Plenty of choice on the menu and staff are excellent.

We've been here a few times, most recently in December. Had no issues the first couple times but most recently we came in and enjoyed our starters, then waited a long time for mains. Our waitress walked past our table and realised we still didn't have them and then (presumably) went to get another waiter to bring them over. We soon realised that these mains had been sitting out for a long time as I assume they had been forgotten about and the food was getting cold. My mother and I both ordered scampi which although wasn't as hot anymore as we'd have liked, it was still perfectly edible and it was tasty as usual. However, ,my Dad had ordered steak which came out lukewarm and the sauce had been sitting out for so long that a film had formed over the top of it. We told a waitress who said she'd take back the steak to re-heat it. It came back and now was more done than my Dad would have liked however he ate it anyway with no complaints. At the end the manager (i assume) came and spoke to us. He was very friendly and apologized profusely and took the steak off the bill. The food itself is always great, and good value! however it was the communication between staff that let it down this most recent time. I still give it 4 stars though, considering every other time we've been we've never had an issue, and I'm sure we'll be back soon to give it another try.

Have now visited on a few occasions. Used to go to Dobbies but this is now our breakfast of choice. The food is well cooked, hot and tasty. Sometimes in buffets they compromise on items such as bread but in Elginhaugh the bread is top notch. Staff are simply fabulous and as we are seniors we like the idea we can eat in a different part of the restaurant from the kids.

Visited here many times excellent choice of dishes the carvery one of the best the staff are helpful. Cheery. Efficient wonderful also caters for kids wonderfully

Came for our first breakfast as mr & Mrs the morning after our wedding, it was absolutely delicious and generous portions, been many times for breakfast couples meals and family meals always great food and reasonably priced

Great restaurant with a lovely play area. Really nice food and reasonably priced. Nice play are for the kids to spend time in. They do a carvery, as well as an extensive menu which is all reasonably priced and very nice.

We don’t go out much as my daughter suffers quite badly from allergies. I called ahead to check that the pub could accommodate us and they were very helpful. On the night when we turned up they couldn’t do enough to help us and make sure that my daughter got everything she needed.

Hi we went with family on arrival was quite and seated yourselfs .struggle to get soup of day not on board when you do find board and no staff to ask.seated at kids bit .quite floor duty with food and lot of tables not clean we cleaned table.1 tall sweeper and food picked up in a minute ?.to start with 6 cans of diet coke £12.60 I reckon this is the dearest in Scotland even George street Edinburgh do not charge this.soup a bit restless .kids meal basic but is cheap.3 got carvelery not to bad it a couple things left.steak terrible never again .this is not all fresh food I know this but is poor some of it and was left .there was lots of plates on tables with left food on it.everyone does ha e an opinion but this is deff not 4 or 5 star I do have my suspicion with all the 5 star and 4 star reviews with people's 1st review ?.could be cleaner and lots of prepacked and not fresh even 1 of the fish we got was not fresh.dobbies is fresh .Sun inn 4 or 5 star and black bull fresh .I will not be back through choice.

Had to choose somewhere for a birthday lunch and really happy we chose here. Service was lovely, very friendly and seemed to actually care that you were happy.

Went for a meal on Monday night and was served quickly. Staff very friendly and food served fast and it was tasty. Really nice desserts and you can take away if you have no room which is fab.

I’m not really a big fan of carvery as I always feel the food sits out too long but this is not the case at Elginhaugh. 3 lovely meats to choose from and loads of veg and potatoes and you can have as much of these as you can fit on your plate.

Went on a really busy evening so there was a little wait at the bar but the staff are really nice and friendly so that helps. Ordered main menu even though the carvery seemed nice I just really wanted a burger and I wasn’t disappointed. Food didn’t take long but you could tell it was fresh.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat, it was pretty busy but staff were still happy and pleased to serve. Bit of a wait on the carvery but it was well worth it, the food was lovely and the desserts to die for.

I love this place but I came here Saturday 27th and it was crazy. I come here very often because the food is good and expensive so good to bring a big bunch of people. However recently the shortage in staff has not be beneficial for them they will end up losing more customers than keeping them. Which is a shame because I’ve known a lot of the staff for a while but they look like they are taking on way too much. The service I have always great from all the staff and the food is great and the cakes are great. We hope it gets easier for all the staff and we will always come back here. We will see you soon

Honestly love coming here don’t see why people bash it. It’s not too expensive and it’s great food. The staff work so hard sometimes they don’t have as much staff on and they still are great and really go out there way to help. Place could do with Freshining up however it is still looking great and defo can’t fault the place. Will be back soon

Absolutely loved the cavary as is was delicious. The cakeaway was yummy too. The stuffing was a bit hard though.

On way back from our jaunt down south we stopped off here for something more substantial than the earlier muffins. Both Mrs and me had the (large) cod and chips and both agreed the quality was good and portions generous. No desserts, but took advantage of the cakeaway for later. ☺

Had a good time when we visited for a meal on New Year’s Day. The staff looked after our large party very well, and dealt with our differing dietary requirements with the minimum of fuss.

Only 2 serving at the till and hots meals so waited 15 minutes to order and at least 30 minutes for our meals that were luke warm. Would have sent back but we waited long enough. Only have sachets of ketchup which is bad but especially if you have kids with you. Gone down hill. Won't be back

We visited this restaurant before xmas after seeing on their website that they do takeaways cavery's as well. We expected that it would be fully booked for xmas day, but as it clearly states that they do takeaway cavery meals, that we could still have a meal from Elginhaugh Farm.But we found out that this is not possible, they said no.Why advertise something if it's not availble, and all it would of taken is 5 mins for one of your staff to provide a takeaway meal on xmas day anyway.Can you update your website.

Been meaning to try this place out for months and it didn’t disappoint! It was fantastic. Menu was great and the cavery was fantastic. Kids loved the food! Even popped back for lunch during the week! Very impressed
