Food was nice but want to highly rate two of the staff. Sorry I don’t know the name of the blonde lady, who was very welcoming and another young lady named Helen. She was very attentive and pleasant

Booked lunch here, not only was the food delicious but it was a very large plateful & reasonably priced. Good atmosphere, relaxed, waiter was singing which you don't often see! Overall a lovely experience.

The outside of the hotel/bar doesn’t do it justice & definitely needs some TLC. The bar area is a lovely little space with a small quiet area too if the bar area is a little too much, which I think is a brilliant idea. The reception area as well is lovely and very cozy with some lovey and warm welcoming members of staff. The room itself is small however very clean and comfy. The only problem is that because it is on a main room when you open the window you feel like you’re on the pavement with the cars going past (can get very noisy). The dining area is very dated however the food was gorgeous and offered a wide range of selection as well as deals for the elderly. The continental breakfast was perfect, the selection was great and was available 24 hours. Plus the birds out the back were a nice added touch. Thank you for a lovely stay ❤️

This was an easy and simple stay for us on the last day of our trip. The room was clean had good temperature. Yes it was a little noisy but you're above a local pub so that's just something you need to be okay with and it didn't bother us at all and we slept the whole night the patrons are generally polite and go home from the pub at a good hour or if they're staying the night in the hotel go to bed at a reasonable time. Hotel had all the things we needed before we went. Had only a small issue with the internet. It either needs to be boosted or reset as we had loads of interruptions with it.

Another fabulous weekend staying at the Elbow Rooms in Kirkcaldy. Great food and a great atmosphere followed by karaoke and the bedrooms are spotless.

Managed to get a booking for 3 people at short notice. The staff were lovely and the food delicious. I had the mixed salad and was amazed at the amount of meats, cheese and coleslaw (which deserves a special mention). The chips were lovely and fluffy but crispy on the outside, the best I've had in a long time. I also ordered the apple pie with custard but had to admit defeat. My companions also enjoyed their food. Very good prices too. It won't be long before we come back.

Went for a laid back family lunch for four, having been at The Kitchin (Leith, Edinburgh) and Boar's Head (Auchtermuchty) earlier in the week so it was always going to be a case of the sublime to the ridiculous.....! You really have to appreciate walking into the dining room - I was not sure if I stumbled into the set from Goodnight Sweetheart or literally had gone back in time to the war. We were all but the only customers when we arrived and were put through a very orderly, controlled, borderline aggressive and hilariously characterful process from the Waitress / Commandant who has apparently worked there for 327 years. The menu experience is fascinating. There is a big menu and a small (luttle) menu. Apparently the small menu is for old people and you get your food on a small plate. I think that you pay a little less. And you receive a little less. But fundamentally it is the same food. With every order the Sergeant Major, I mean waitress demands whether you want chups (chips), salad, vegetables or peas. I don't think that anyone orders either the vegetables or the salad. You are directed towards the chups and the peas. The choice is actually reasonable and expect traditional old school pub classics. The advice is to order smart and don't have high expectations. I had scampi (old school shrimp covered in a yellow breading / batter) and of course chups and peas. It was perfectly tasty. Who could mess that up? The other members of our party had omelettes.....they looked terrible but apparently tasted fine and a roast which was very large indeed. They didn't ask about the cooking temperature and I wouldn't risk enquiring if I were you. The appetizers included mushrooms (fried) soup (canned) and halloumi cheese (grilled - surprisingly well) with a drizzle of......drizzle and an innovative salad of lettuce (iceberg), tomato (quartered) and cucumber (thicker than I have seen previously). They were fine. It is very inexpensive. The food is fine or even slightly better than that - I went to Scotts in South Queensferry which has pretensions of grandeur based simply on location earlier in the week and got food poisoning. You don't get food poisoning at The Elbow Room. The germs wouldn't dare. Go there. Tip generously and enjoy.

Lovely room, with a brilliant selection for breakfast, lovely food served in the restaurant, and the bar is very welcoming Muriel and all her staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Can't wait to return for another break in Fife

Stayed in this hotel for an Ice Hockey game which is round the corner. Room was quite small but ok for a couple. Very nice with a balcony/seating area. Probably nice in the summer but bit cold in the winter! Dinner was nice served in a large room which had a few locals in which is a good sign! Breakfast is continental which is laid out in the corridor...bit strange at first but you just help your self and take back to the room. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here Friday to Monday as we travelled to watch the ice hockey. The room had everything we needed to enjoy the weekend. Continental breakfast provided was lovely, the food served in the restaurant was fantastic - highly recommend and the bar was a nice place to sit and have a pint. Staff were fab and welcoming will definitely be back next year!

We stayed from Friday to Monday and it was fantastic. The family room we had was perfect. The food there is amazing as are all the staff. We will definitely be staying again. 10/10

We had stopped here for lunch on way home. Was extremely busy but managed to get us a table. The food was delicious. Portions were massive. Plenty to choose from menu and they have a pensioners menu with smaller portions. Staff were lovely and friendly and chatty. Was so good we had family visit the same week and we took them for lunch. Excellent value for money

Best Hotel I have stayed in for a long time, I have been staying at the Hotel for the last 7 months, All the staff were very friendly, Home cooked food was brilliant tasty and very hot, I stayed in all the rooms during my stay all were very comfy and clean, I met in with some of the locals who were all very friendly had a few pints with them, I would definitely recommend this hotel as my experience staying there was EXCELLENT THANKS to ALL (to many to mention) Graeme

It was my 60th birthday, and Scott was amazing made sure everything ran smoothly, the other staff were great to, but Scott stole the show, highly recommend.

Stayed at the Elbow Room for 3 nights with my sister and teenage daughter. The room was immaculate, very well designed and thought out. Beds really comfortable and everything there that you could possibly need. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Although it’s above a busy pub there was very little noise. The balcony off the room was a massive tick in the box for us as smokers. Room cleaned and things replenished every day. And the birds in the yard were an added bonus. Will definitely be staying again and would recommend it to anybody.

Cannot fault the food, it is fabulous. However, I phoned Sunday 25th June to enquire if table available for dinner was told by, I think, a young male, no. Asked if perhaps one would become available later, was told Nut! What? How rude! Who speaks to potential customers like that? Anyway we decided to drive along 10 minutes later and we got a table. There was actually 4 tables available, 2 for 4 people and 2 for 2 people. So why was I told Nut? Could have been lost business. Fortunately, food is good as are the staff so will return but strangers might not!

A small group of friends called for our lunch on Father's Day. We were greeted warmly, our drinks order was taken and we were given time to check out the menu. Having eaten here previously we knew the standard and what to expect, as before the food was well presented, simple and tasty. I really enjoyed the black pudding bites with apple sauce that I had for my starter. A couple of us had roast silverside for our main course. The meat was lean and incredibly tender, (if you enjoy rare meat this maybe not for you!). This was served with carrots, cabbage broccoli and a choice of potatoes. I had it with roast pots. All of our plates were emptied. We will be back as it is very reliable, tasty and reasonably priced.

Central Fife. Great for a stay in the area. Comfortable and clean. Good value. Nice little bar with a very friendly team. There is no doubt you will be made feel welcome here. Continental breakfast available all hours. Ample off road parking. Dogs welcome.

2nd vist to the elbow room. Room we were allocated was very large and comfortable, bathroom was gorgeous with a big bath tub and separate shower. We had dinner steak pie was lovely as was the lasagne. Remained in hotel for the evening entertainmane, staff are very friendly as are the locals. Breakfast is a continental which you help yourself to in the corridor outside the rooms an excellent idea. This is our go to place when we are in kirkcaldy

Stayed for one night with our 2 dogs plus points: Friendly welcome. Had a very tasty lunch when we arrived. Room and bathroom was a fair size. Basic but clean. Staff stripped the single bed in the room and covered with a throw so the dogs could be comfy too. Very good continental breakfast selection. Minus points: The double bed was very uncomfortable and on inspection it appeared broken and had been mended with what look like a piece of pallet wood. There was a strange smell, which we could only describe as a mixture of damp and disinfectant. While in our room, the door was opened by a man who claimed we were in his room. When we went to clear the matter up with the management, we were advised that he had the room for 2 weeks prior to our arrival had been moved to another room but they had forgotten to tell him or take the key back! Could have been very scary if this had happened to a woman travelling alone.

Dog friendly, small charge. Big car park at the back. Rooms have separate entrance to pub. Room has balcony, quiet fridge, extras inc. bottled water. Pleasant staff. We didn't eat there (breakfast is extra). Quiet night's sleep (it was Tuesday). Just over a mile from Kirkcaldy centre.Very reasonable.

Have been a few times before for lunch,it was empty when we arrived but it soon filled up,the , staff are very friendly ,I ordered roast beef veg and mashed potatoes with Yorkshire pudding ,it was delicious,I then ordered ginger pudding and custard was lovely,all four of us enjoyed our food ,price wise very good two courses £7.50 which is very reasonable,have never had a bad meal here would definitely recommend it.

We dropped by for a bar lunch, this is one of our favourite places to eat in Kirkcaldy as we have never had a bad meal here and today was no exception. We sat down and ordered our food and drinks. Shortly thereafter the food and drinks came to the table. All the food that came to the table was excellent, no complaints about any of it, I can recommend the large fish, cleaned plates all round. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. Great meal at a great price.

Went here with another three adults and all meals were first class I had a roast dinner which was huge and delicious My husband had the salad and chips which was lovely The other dish was macaroni which was well presented with chips and salad The last meal was curry with half chips and half rice again another huge portion All meals were piping hot and served by a very pleasant young lady.The sweet menu looked very nice but we were unable to have one as we were full with the main meal This is definitely good value and would recommend it

The food here is excellent !!! A real nice place to go for a lunch. We liked it so much we went twice and we had different foods from the menu and everything was tasty and well prepared. Right down to the butter being soft enough to spread on the bread. Soup was great, black pudding bites also super tasty. Steak Pie is also very very good and the beef cooked amazing. Can’t praise this place enough. Service is also very friendly.

Visited the Elbow Room last night for a high tea and what a disappointment! When we arrived and said we’d booked for high tea we were told to “just sit anywhere “ . We sat down at a table and we had to ask for tea and coffee which eventually came lukewarm. We asked if we could get more which we did get but the coffee was very poor quality. We waited for a bit then had our order taken but still no toast,we then asked for some which arrived at same time as our meal. Also we had to ask for butter and jam. The meal itself was ok not bad just ok. After our meal we got a plate with a selection of sponge cakes and caramel shortbread. Nice but not your traditional cakes you’d get and no scones which was a disappointment. The boy that served us tried his best I think but no guidance from other staff. We were made to feel it was time to go at the end very clearly,my friend had her plate taken away from her as she was still eating. A thumbs down from me. Very disappointed.

Stayed here for two nights had breakfast and dinner. I'm milk and gluten intolerant. Staff could not have been more helpful, what they didn't have on site they purchased especially for me. Assisted in helping me organise celebration for friends birthday. Nothing was to much trouble, so kind, caring and friendly. Portions big and delicious. Definitely be back.

Visited the other night & went for cajun chicken on the specials board. Wrong choice. In reality it was chicken cubes lost in a syrupy savouryish sauce. Partners fish and chips was fine.Service was good.

Visited The Elbow Room tonight for tea with friends. The food was lovely. I had chicken in a sweet chilli sauce, potatoes and veg. My friends had freshly made omelettes, chips and veg. Nice puddings too. Specials board available. It was £40 and lovely.

Visited with the family, we've been before on previous visits & never been disappointed. A good value delicious meal in a pleasant room.The children especially liked to see the aviary with the cockatiels.

Early tea for two. Home made mushroom soup and breaded fish for auntie off the pensioners menu. Battered mushrooms and the roast of the day, which had three thick slices of Silverside, for me. Never disappointed and great value for money.

Just returned from a few nights at this hotel. Don't be fooled by the exterior the rooms are lovely. Clean and well presented. Everything you need is provided even bath sheets . Everyone is really friendly and can't do enough for you. We ate in the restaurant and the food delicious. Breakfast which is extra was lovely. We didn't mind paying extra as the rooms were very reasonable. Went to Edinburgh on the train takes about 40 mins but worth the effort. We were even offered a lift to the station . Give this place a go it's worth it.

We booked for 5 for lunch this was my first visit,, the menu was excellent great variety the service was good very pleasant staff, I had the steak pie which I would highly recommend , for pudding I had the rhubarb sponge & Custard which was lovely overall our group were very happy with all the food we had will definitely return .

Mi Grand mi hija y yo nos alojamos aquí hace unas pocas semanas. La habitación era muy limpia y las camas eran muy cómodas. No desayunamos ya que no habíamos pedido con antelación. Fue una reserva de última hora, pero sin duda los de nuevo. Aunque no comimos creo de amigos las comidas son muy buenas.

Rooms are clean if a little small, good price but be aware this faces on to a very busy junction, traffic starts at 5am!

Visited the Elbow Room for a bar lunch. It hadn't changed since my last visit many moons ago.Service was quick order taken and drinks delivered within minutes of sitting down. Good was good. The only problem l had was pre cooked puff pastry on my steak pie. If l had know it was going to be pre cooked l would have ordered something else. Overall, it was a good experience and will be going back again. Well done.

I meant to leave this review before now. I visited the Elbow room with my mum and a family friend just before Christmas. The food was excellent as was the service. It was also very good value for money. The steak pie was amazing as was The Banana Spilt which I must add was a proper Banana spilt. I'm originally from Fife and this was my first visit to The Elbow room.Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

What a lovely meal we had as always all 7 of us could find all we wanted on the menu although the food is plain it is very tastey they have attentive waiting staff which is very good. Some guest bitters such as John Smiths are welcome by family who come from Yorkshire.

Popped in here today for a bar lunch and as expected the meal was very good, the servers were polite, well presented and very helpful. Free parking around the back. If you are in Kirkcaldy give the Elbow Room a try.

Stayed here for 1 night on a 3 day trip to Scotland. Lovely hotel . Great staff who had moved us from a double room to a larger family room with seating area in the room and a massive bathroom. If your in the area this is the place to stay

At first I was concerned we had made a mistake as the restaurant was rather empty but I needn't have worried. The room soon began to buzz and the atmosphere was great. The food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lovely place to eat. Will definitely return.

i've eaten here many times over a number of years. on my latest visit my sister made a group booking for a joint birthday party. the staff were very very good serving drinks taking orders and serving the excellent food. an all round great evening.

Have visited the elbow room now a few times for meals and it's always lovely.On this occasion there was just the 2 of us,both had 3 courses and a couple of drinks and was just over £50 so really good value.I had the soup which was one of the only things I wasn't impressed with,described as lentil but more like vegetable.No taste of lentil and with big chunks of carrot and potato,don't get me wrong it was still nice!Partner had the burger and it was that big he had to eat it with a knife and fork,for me I had the large fish and with 2 slices of fresh haddock chips and peas it was really enjoyable,whilst the portions r massive they r always served on a tiny plate,I know some places do this to make the portions look bigger but here u don't have to they r actually massive.Puddings were also lovely.Another small disappointment was after my dad had joined us for a drink he went to order a beer and it must have took the young lad a good 5 mins before even acknowledging him.However they were just a couple of small niggles on what was as always a great meal.Be back soon.

Went here for the first time on Friday at 4pm for an early dinner with my 5 year old daughter. Really enjoyed it and will be going back. Friendly staff, good food, and relaxing atmosphere. I had nachos for a starter and then steak and ale pie for my main and they were delicious. My daughter had the chicken dippers kids meal. I also had a point of lager and the entire bill was less than 20 pounds.

Our family continually frequent the Elbow Room, especially at weekends. There is an adequate menu to suit most tastes and purses. Food is always well prepared and PLENTIFUL. Parking is available to the rear of the restaurant.

I have been hear a number of times with either friends family or my children who are all under 8 years old. The goods brilliant and staff are very happy and friendly. My parter also uses the bar facility every few weeks with ha best friend for a catch up and they love it. Great atmosphere and great selection of alcohol

Lovely friendly people. Even brought our dogs some water and treats while we had lunch. Food was lovely service was excellent very accommodating and reasonable priced. Would highly recommend.

I've visited the Elbow Room many times, and have always been very happy with the warm welcome, friendly informal service and the value and quality of the food. I was there tonight with the kids, and there was a good selection of the usual pub style food, plus a couple of specials. It's nothing fancy, but very well priced and freshly cooked. I always notice that the place improves with every visit, but retains a lot of original character. I will certainly continue to support this local, and happy to recommend it for a visit.

I was in Kirkcaldy for the day with my wife and fiends , the woman went shopping and the men went to the elbow room with our maltese terrier dog. The welcome we got from the bar staff and customers was excellent , everyone was so friendly and the dog got a lot of attention with treats from behind the bar, i just like to thank all for making us feel at home in my local , its the best welcome ive had in a long time going into a strange pub in a different town

Lunch menu is excellent. Come here often. Haven't tried evening so can't comment but delicious home cooked grubb.

one of our party asked if the soup was gluten free the waitress went to check and confirmed it was but when it was brought to the table she also brought bread on the same plate for his main course he told the waitress no coleslaw as it has dairy but when it came to the table it had to be taken back as it had coleslaw on it, another of our party ordered gammon steak but had to leave it as it was smoked but there was no mention of smoked on the menu when the waitress collected the plates and she was informed of this she just smiled not what you expect from a catering establishment.

I have spent quite a few nights at this place over the years and didn't hesitate to book again. What a shock I was in for. Firstly there was no milk in the fridge to go with all the tea and coffee that was left. The restaurant was closed on arrival. We were told it would be open. Once settled and had eaten out we returned for a drink in the snug as we didn't want to join in the karaoke. We witnessed staff shouting at customers. Staff that weren't in duty and drunk. Only then to add insult to injury the staff member then asked us to take her side. Diabolical to say the least. We decided to return to our room to get out the way and retire for the night. Upon getting into bed we discovered holes in the sheets and duvet cover. Photos added. There was also no heating and it was only 1 degree outside. To top off the poor quality of the service we got no breakfast. There wasn't even anyone there to take our keys when we left at 10am. Doors were all locked and no one in sight. We were told the chef didn't start till 10am but that there would be cereals and milk in our room. We are still waiting. Such a disappointment when we have been here a few times previously and the service was perfect before. Have all the good staff deserted a sinking ship coz for me it has well and truly sunk and will not be returning.

Spent 1 night here and have to say was very impressed. We got the family room, which was huge, had 2 single beds and 1 double, there was also a couch and chair in the room. The bathroom was fabulous, very spacious, with separate shower and bath. The accommodation also has separate entry from the main pub. Free wifi in the room and large sky tv package. There is also a fridge in the room. Beds were very comfortable. Staff welcoming and friendly. Didnt get the chance to eat there but would go back as heard many good reviews.

The table for 5 adults was pre-booked.Friendly and polite staff. The wine we wanted was not cold and the staff member put the wine in the chiller for 10 minutes.We placed our order. Food was average. Depending on what your order for the size of the portions. Chefs salad ok. Lasagne you need a side order of chips and the stroganoff and rice, order a side dish aswell ...As mentioned by others the surroundings are tired.

Very good pub grub, excellent service very pleased with our visitsurroundings a wee bit tired but the food and service we received more than made up for decor
