Ordered Balmoral Chicken with "Baby potatoes". However it came with large potatoes and well overcooked veg. The chicken was very tough and overcooked. Not the greatest of experiences. Nice venue and staff were pleasant but will think twice about a return visit.

Appalling service, 18 minutes to get a drink. Staff totally uninterested. Heaven knows how long to get food. I walked out before then.

We've had breakfast/brunch here a few times and its always outstanding. This time we tried lunch, I may have chosen badly or I may have had high expectations but either way I was left disappointed.

liked this restaurant but I don't want a meal next to the queue, reserved table for window and yes it wasn't a definite but I work hard for my money and its a rare occasion, you shouldn't have a table there. it's the usual greed at Xmas don't want to put 2 people on a 4 seated table .

Have eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Today the food was good but nothing special. The waitress who took our drinks order was warm & friendly, the food came quickly and was nice and hot. However the service thereafter was terrible. Plates not cleared for ages & had to ask for this to be done and then ask again for menus so we could order desserts. At least 3 waitresses standing behind the bar all chatting and laughing and not looking particularly busy! Over all, disappointing family lunch. No tip given as it wasn’t warranted.

I have been visiting this restaurant for many years for lunch and dinner, mainly for a catchup with friends. I always used to recommend it to friends, but over the last few years the customer service has declined along with quality of food and the portion sizes reduced. Over the last 6-12 months I have been turned away from the restaurant with the staff saying they had NO availability, despite the restaurant looking quite ! I understand that prior booking would be the best option to secure a table however I would have thought more effort could have been made for me as a regular I know of other friends and family that have had a similar experience to me. We visited on the 08.10.23 and we are both quite picky eaters so checked the up to date menu on the website, looking forward to what we saw turns out the menu was incorrect and they no longer did the options we wanted, this was a bit annoying, but since we were already there we managed to find something else we could have, the food was definitely very good quality and the staff were nice and friendly, would be good if they had the vegan chicken burger like before as would be good with more options for vegetarians and vegans, the food has went up in price but the portions were not to bad.

The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. The menu has a range of dishes to suit all palates and the four of us all opted for something different. Despite the restaurant being busy the food arrived quickly and all dishes were well presented with generous portion sizes. I opted for the smoked haddock pancake which was served with a cheese sauce and was absolutely delicious. A very enjoyable dining experience and one we’d certainly recommend to potential diners.

Saturday lunch and not one person in the place should have been enough to tell you everything Really poor food with no excuse of being busy Baked potato with cheese and pickle , came with no pickle and overcooked dry as a old shoe potato suggest it was made the day before and stuck in a microwave Steak ciabatta was soaking wet and the steak was not sliced just stick on and was like leather. Wet salad clearly run under a tap and just really poor We would say the young waitress was really nice but clearly used to complaints Shame as it could be nice but we wouldn’t recommend and won’t return

Fantastic food, very good choices available. I had Cajun chicken which was served on a sizzle plate, with chips and veg. All cooked beautifully. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Family lunch out with 2 children, age 10 and 2. Our adult meals were all fine and enjoyed by everyone. But was shocked to see the price of a kids meal. £8! The toddler in our company would only eat a few spoonfuls of macaroni and we asked for just a small teacup of this, one scoop of ice-cream was their dessert as part of the kid's meal deal. Still charged at £8, which is excessive even for the normal sized kids meal. Would not be my choice again for a family lunch out.

Met friends for breakfast, been here before and menus have changed. A wee bit dearer now but thats to be expected as everwhere is. Freshly made, a clean plate but didnt enjoy the haggis. Service was good and will go back.

We come for breakfast regularly here and have not been disappointed yet. The breakfast today tasted good, wasn't greasy, and came at a reasonable price. The servers were polite, prompt, and well presented. There is a golf shop, putting green, small pitch and putt course and a driving range if you fancy some golf after or before eating. Beware of the junction coming in or out of the car park, the Standing Stane Road is very fast, and there have been quite a lot of accidents.

The food was nicely cooked, I had the daily special, smoked haddock deep fried, delicious. The scampi was good too, good portions on both plates. Staff were attentive, clean and presentable tables

Went here with my husband and daughter after Meeting the Animals at Wellsgreen. Was a lovely day out and food was really good. Customer service was great.

With disabled parking and access, wheelchair users, push buggies or those with walking difficulties can easily access the restaurant through easy opening doors and a flat surface. The initial entrance within is a golf shop, turning to the right gives open views of the restaurant which has a large and well spaced out seating plan with large windows overlooking both the golf driving range, the Firth of Forth and beyond. The service is great though I do advise you to book a table for lunch or evening meal as it's very popular. The staff are very polite and friendly, the service is fantastic and the food is of a very nice quality and of good portion size. The prices are average however when you compare with the quality you'll agree the prices are indeed very good. Everything is on the level, the carpeted floor is free from trip hazards and the lighting is more than ample for everyone to navigate their way to and fro. The tables for 2 are large, the tables for four are generous and the corner suites are huge. There's no preference to cash or card.

We stopped off here ,hadn't booked so table was in the foyer so had people passing through. Service was good , the fish was cooked perfectly, the warm chicken salad , the chicken was dry and tasteless and the chips were under cooked. Wouldn't go out my way to go back.

A catch up with friends rescheduled from Christmas, great surroundings and good food as always however the server ( supervisor) was having great problems preparing our bill. Our group of 7 paid by card separately and I have never seen such a shambles! I told her my order 3 times and she had great difficulty with this , my card was overcharged and she had to refund some money back , the other members of our group had the same problem. I can't believe we are the only group of people paying separately, some serious p.o.s. training is required.

What a hidden gem. This restaurant offers a range of traditional "pub grub" at great value. The staff are great l, quick to checknin and the food is served quickly. Highly recommend.

Excellent lunch today, the haddock fillet pancake is delicious, iv3 had it the last 4 times I’ve been here. Service is good, price very reasonable, food delicious. Can’t fault anything

We revisited a family favourite place and were not disappointed. Three adults opted for smaller main meals and these were still generous and perfectly cooked. The kids' meals were good value and couldnt come fast enough. We were all tempted by the sweet of the day and they were yummy. Highly recommended

4 of us ate here last night. Ordered drinks and asked for a jug of tap water. Drinks arrived but no water. One of us had chicken Balmoral with chips. I had steak pie with chips but got about half the amount and after pointing this out, more chips were brought. My granddaughter had ordered a burger but couldn't finish it so I took a piece. It was perfectly cooked on one side but burnt (not just chargrilled) on the other. Brought this to attention of waitress but no explanation or apology offered. I have eaten here on several occasions in the past and been perfectly happy. Last night was a disappointment

Delicious food. Balmoral chicken and haggis. The half portion option to suit smaller appetites was much appreciated.

Went here for a meal last night and was really underwhelmed. As drinks were being ordered I asked what they had on draught and they replied nothing at the moment. Not good enough in my opinion what’s the point of a bar lunch when you can’t even have a pint? Not to mention one of the vodka soda water and lime drinks we ordered turned up with tap water in it instead of soda I’m still baffled at that a day later but I digress… Frozen veg, mediocre chips and a shocking lack of gravy in the steak pie for my main. That being said other people at the table enjoyed their meals in particular the battered fish looked lovely and done perfectly golden brown so credit where it’s due. Overall if I was you I’d walk past the restaurant, go upstairs and hit 50 balls instead.

We had a good business lunch. Some good options on the menu and the food was tasty and generous portions. Friendly and efficient service. Loads of free parking. The restaurant was busy which is a good sign!

Very busy lunch times, separate seating areas depending if you have a meal or snack. Staff friendly, helpful and approachable. Food run of the mill. I had the battered haddock with chips and peas, rather bland and boring unless you pour a good amount of sauce over it all, shame just no flavour. The cauliflower burger was delicious though. Great big windows for viewing golfers. TV screen for watching golf and a small shop to buy all things golf.

Been here loads before and after covid. There today....ridiculous prices and portions. Charged £4.35 for a bowl of that's charged at £2 when ordered with a sandwich. A tiny half filled bowl not a full portion which should come with bread and butter. £7.35 for a toastie. I did get in touch but their not interested in replying.

We were given a table in the restaurant this afternoon around 2pm.we sat down and decide what we would have to eat, we waited and waited and waited. Meanwhile , 2 other tables arrived, they were served drinks, their orders taken and we were totally ignored. Other tables were being served coffees, desserts ,etc. There were at least 2 waitresses, maybe 3. After 20 minutes we got up and left, I did speak to the waitress who seemed to be in charge, she did apologise but that is hardly good enough. Sorry we won't be back and cannot recommend this restaurant as we did not get a chance to taste the food so cannot comment.

Had family dinner here tonight very disappointing 2 burnt roast potatoes I boiled roast beef no tast bland tiny spat of gravy not sure what's changed here but certainly not the same

Hi my family and I had our dinner here tonight roast potatoes burnt hardly any gray very disappointed on my plate was 2 burnt roast potatoes 1 boiled potatoe 2 slice roast beef not great 2 bits of carrots and bit broccoli rubbish tasted no taste we all had a chippy when we left didn't bother with pudding if this what dinner r now used love coming here for dinner

Called here for tea and cake, first visit, lovely comfortable, peaceful place, friendly helpful staff, perfect pot of tea, my friend tells me that they serve a wonderful breakfast! I will definitely be back!!

Attended this restaurant with my partner tonight to use a voucher we received for Christmas. Understandably they had a Christmas menu on which was reduced but still several choices. Eventually after waiting a while and slow service, finally we got our drinks order taken. I asked for a pint of Diet Coke which barely came as more than a half pint and a corona for my partner which was barely cold and didn’t even come with the option of lime. After waiting another 15 minutes our food order was eventually taken. I ordered the chicken balmoral with chips and my partner the Mac and cheese with garlic bread and a side of fries. Less than 5 minutes later our food arrived- so obviously was not cooked fresh. My chicken barely warm with chips that had looked like they had been under a hot plate for hours. My partners Mac and cheese looked alright but had no taste whatsoever- the garlic bread was dry and harder than a hockey puck and again his chips dry and well over cooked. After getting a little through my chicken balmoral I found a long grey hair strand in my food- normally I’d let this slip but in my next bite I found a bone in the chicken. By this point I was put right off my food. It ruined our whole experience. Not to mention the portions were very small! Not worth the money at all! Due to still being starving after our poor main courses I thought surely we can’t go wrong with a dessert. I ordered the chocolate fudge cake. Oh how wrong I was. The cake had been microwaved within an inch of its life to the point it was dry, hard and difficult to get the spoon through. The sauce was grilled onto the plate and the ice cream wasn’t even ice cream- it was a puddle of cream. After trying to get the attention of the servers in 3 occasions we eventually gave up and took ourselves to the bar to pay. We used our voucher and left- I’m glad we didn’t have to pay anything because I would not have been paying and that was said to the young female server. Poor service. Unwelcoming and very poor food quality. Extremely disappointed in our meal and this service. Would NOT recommend !!

Booked a table for 4 at the last minute..food was delicious...pulled pork burger was to die for....only problem was we are up here for a wee break and it's a bit of a drive for us...Next time we're passing defo.

Have eated here a few times over the years, but found the quality this time to be not to the previous standard. It was as if they are buying more pre cooked food from the like of Brakes Food. Certainly wont be rushing back.

Called today to say i was unable to book in advance as i am a support worker and wanted to bring a service user in for something to eat so would be unsure of when i would be arriving. Staff on the phone were extremely helpful and said if i just gave them a bit of notice they would try to accomodate us. I called just 20/25 minutes before arriving. The staff and the service was absolutely fantastic. The food was brilliant. After our meal I explained to the staff that i was very impressed with how fast the food was served and i also heard another table say how quick the service was. I will absolutely be back, we had a lovely day here and i cannot reccommend enough! Thank you!
