Had an absolutely brilliant time dining here! The new menu concept is fantastic — everything we tried was delicious, but the gnocchi in particular was outstanding. You could really tell a lot of thought and care has gone into the dishes. The atmosphere was lively and full of energy, making the whole experience even better. Service was spectacular from start to finish. Special mention to Emma, Ryan and Thya, who were all incredibly friendly, professional, and made us feel so well looked after. Can’t wait to come back!!

Phenomenal new menu at Mitchell's, shared a few dishes with my partner and received excellent service from Olivia. The little cocktails in teapots are a must try and the bartender Ryan poured them perfectly, We'll definitely be back soon!

I’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled, and flat out deceived. Firstly, who came up with this menu? Rubbish. 20 quid for 3 pieces of unseasoned cod and basically mayo underneath. Give your head a wobble. The staff are nice and it’s not their fault but I’d prefer to get trapped inside a vice. Come here if you want to buy some plants (for some reason) get underfed and professionally laughed at when they bring the bill. Absolute poison.

Not impressed over breakfast, wrong order, food over salted, canned pineapple on granola instead of fresh fruit as per menu, coffee cold and service just as cold.

Went here for brunch, the pancakes and coffee were decently priced (for St Andrews) and were of good quality. We were sat upstairs which had a nice, quiet atmosphere, though not sure if the same can be said for the downstairs seating which was much busier. Overall, nice meal and probably would come again

Came in for a takeaway coffee, i was served by noah, very fast and efficient and we had a great conversation.

A cute and cosy space for a casual breakfast/lunch/dinner. I’ve been on a number of occasions and had all three there. Sadly the food quality is poor, the wraps are dry, the scones are very dry (I even saw someone return their scone after banging it on the table). The Buddha bowl is ok, shame it is cold though. The pancakes are good - but they should be anywhere you get them. Although the English breakfast is pretty good. Most of the service is friendly and warm, but one member of staff is rude and abrupt and you feel as though you’ve put them out. Any of the takeaway bits from the counter are sadly not worth eating (the salads are particularly underwhelming given they are advertised outside). A lot of the tables by the window are very wobbly (and often aren’t cleaned properly). However, the drinks are lovely and I enjoy their different specials! And the flower options outside are delightful. I absolutely love that it’s dog friendly, you get some very cute dogs there. In general, it’s a great ambience, and if you’re not looking for culinary excellence, it’s a great spot for a coffee and catch up.

We stopped here for brunch during a brief visit to St Andrews. Some brunch options were displayed outside that tempted us in, but we quickly realised all the options were not actually available and the signage was out of date. We raised this with our waitress, but she seemed annoyed by us for having asked. As though it was our fault for asking for for food they had advertised to us... We were able to adapt, however, and we could put our lunch orders through early to compensate. We ordered a spicy chicken wrap and eggs florentine, both if which were very nice. The wrap was well stuffed with quality ingredients, and the eggs floretnine were rich with an albeit soggy spinach base. The place has a dark wooden interior that provides a calming ambience. There are plenty of seating spaces: beside a long window facing the street, tables in the centre of the restaurant, or more secluded booths. It was generally very relaxing, but the presence of mirrors beside the widow seats we sat at were distracting. We would likely visit again if we return to St Andrews.

Went to Mitchell’s over the weekend for dinner, loved every moment of it. Our server Noah was great, knowledgeable and saw to all our needs. The live music was fabulous! Really brought up the atmosphere. Will definitely be returning :)

Thank you both! Aesthetically pleasing ambience (great lighting, cozy, comfortable). We happened upon it on a Friday evening, which meant live music beginning at 7 pm. The artist had a lovely, pleasing voice, and played acoustic guitar, and I'm sorry I didn't catch his name. Truly a wonderful and enjoyable place!

Visited Mitchell’s St Andrews for cocktail week. Had the Japanese Sipper made by Noah, which was delightful. Live music provided a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend this place - thank you Noah !

Hi, I chose Mitchell's Deli for a birthday dinner as I had been there before and knew that the dinner would be great. We took our little dog along with us and were welcomed by Noah and Regan, who both delivered exceptional service—way beyond what I expected—even to the extent of a little birthday cake for my son. I genuinely wish all restaurants could offer service this good. Great atmosphere and great food with exceptional service - what's not to like!

Noah was such a amazing guy, service was good friendly, made sure we had everything we needed and checked if we required anything else. There was live music, who sang a variety of songs.

The family and I decided to come here for a dinner night during our first night in Scotland. I can confidently say the food went above and beyond expectation. From the pasta, to the lasagna, to the leek pie, to the steak, they were all some of the best we’ve had of this trip thus far. Also, our waiters went above and beyond taking care of us! Great food and drinks, with plenty of options to choose from. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and Noah who served our table was polite and efficient. We had in fact visited for cocktails the night before, which were delicious, when Noah had accommodated us sitting in the quieter bar, The Hide, upstairs where he delivered cocktails as we ordered on them via the app. Freshly made wraps and sandwiches were excellent, served with fries, and the soup was lovely too. Great atmosphere and dining experience when visiting St Andrews.

went for dinner the food was really good, had the fish & chips. there was live music on which was lovely & our server noah was great. definitely recommend!

Went for lunch and ordered a chicken wrap and a pastrami panini. Fast friendly service. The panini was lovely with a nice crunch to the bread. The wrap was disappointing with the use of chicken thigh meat. Too much sauce making it very wet inside turning it in to a bit of a sloppy unenjoyable mess.

Attended a large dinner for over 20 in one of the private dining areas and everything was outstanding; from food to drink to atmosphere and service. Would highly recommend to locals, students, and tourists alike.

Visited Mitchell’s after a works event and had the most amazing burger! Cannot recommend the house burger enough. What a stunning venue. It’s like its own little world inside. Just beautiful. The wonderful team gave us a private area and looked after us so well. We had tasty starters and nibbles and I had probably the best Prosecco I’ve ever had and I’m not usually a Prosecco drinker but it was stunning. Huge thanks to the team for looking after us. St Andrews is such a stunning place and now we’ve found a little gem for our future visits. It’s an absolute must for anyone visiting. See you again soon.

Had a large group dinner in the private room in Mitchell's which was stunning. The food was very tasty and fresh. The staff were very attentive and made the experience fantastic. It was great having the private space for our party to enjoy and make the most of our experience. Will be back.

Went here for food with some colleagues, we hired the private room upstairs and it was absolutely stunning. We were there for dinner however there was lots of space and a bar in the room so would be ideal for a small party too! Food was great and the vibe was spot on to have a blether with the group. I'd recommend giving this one a try!

We had a private dinner in The Hide at Mitchell's and it was lovely. The staff were attentive but not overbearing, the drinks & food were brilliant & they catered so well to our party's dietary requirements. Would definitely recommend!

We went in for a drink and cake and it's got to be said that the cakes were awful and were dry even our 8 year old noticed it was dry! We won't be back in was going to have fish and chips but decided against it and I'm glad I think we've dodged a bullet here! Trying to be jack of all trades and literally master of none! Avoid at all costs.

Lovely breakfast, very efficient service and a wonderful, warming atmosphere!

Food was okay, nothing to complain about. However, after just finishing our food we were told that they needed the table back asap as there was people who had booking that had been waiting 15 mins for our table. We had been in the restaurant for one hour at that point, so did not understand why we were being rushed out as the booking confirmation claimed we had the table for an hour and a half. Also tables that were in before us were still sitting and we had waited a while to get served/ receive our food.

We popped in to Mitchell, St Andrews for lunch on a cold afternoon. Staff right away explained they’d had a problem with their heating, which had just been repaired. It was still slightly chilly but not uncomfortable. However the staff were very warm & cheery in their manner, especially Courtney, who was particularly so. Our food arrived in good time, was freshly prepared and delicious. Will definitely be back soon, thanks.

I had afternoon tea here with my daughter and her partner for my birthday. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fabulous. Thank you Noah and Courtney for the fabulous service will be back for mothers day.

We had brunch here on a Sunday morning in early January. Service was friendly and fast, the place had a nice atmosphere, and the food was really fresh and high quality. We had a few changes requested to the kids breakfasts, including subbing out menu items like beans for non-menu bacon. Waitress could not have been more helpful, and they customised our order without any issue whatsoever, and executed it perfectly. Just really good. Will defo go again next time we are visiting at Andrews.

We had a lovely family lunch at Mitchell’s shortly before New Year’s. We were served by Courtney, who was prompt, courteous and friendly! Food was delicious and service was spot on. Highly recommend!

After a beautiful walk along West Sands to see the sunrise, how better to cap it off, but a perfect b'fast experience. From the moment we walked in Courtney and Noah were welcoming and brilliant hosts, this was complimented by the food. Great job team.

Visited on the 27th December, in that time between Christmas and New Year. We don't visit St. Andrews very often, and we didn't have plans on where to eat. Walking along Market Street, the outdoor decorations and window display at Mitchell's caught our eye and we decided to try it out. Service was attentive and fine, our only issue was asking for the bill and being forgotten about so we had to ask another person after a time (not a big problem on the grand scale of things). However - the food! I ordered the Caesar Salad, and sat regretting my decision at spending £14 on a salad instead of a burger or breakfast, whilst it was being prepared. However, when it arrived I instantly knew I had picked well. The taste was fantastic, and the ingredients were high quality. Loved the anchovies, and the size of the dish made sure it was very filling. When we return in a few weeks, I will order the same. My son (8) ordered the fish and chips, and for someone with a big appetite, he could only get through half the dish before he was full. I had a try of the leftover fish, and the quality of the fillet and the batter would rival many good quality fish restaurants. Mitchell's for me was a place where you get what you paid for. A high-quality deli, with really delicious and well thought-out dishes which will surely satisfy most customers. Prices are not crazy expensive, but 'above average' shall we say. As mentioned earlier, we have already made plans to return later this month!

Visited with my husband and adult daughter. We had a burger, fish and chips and a wrap. The wrap wasn't very impressive but the other 2 dishes were tasty. A nice place for a quick bite to eat. Served by Eden and Courtney who were very pleasant. It did seem that they may have been a little short staffed though it WAS quite busy.

We had the beef brisket hash, and it was exceptional. So tasty! Our servers Eden and Courtney were so attentive and welcoming. It is very dog friendly too which is a bonus, our doggy enjoyed a bowl of water and lots of attention

The eggs benedict at Hotel Mitchell were perfectly cooked, with rich hollandaise sauce. The fish and chips were crispy and delicious, making for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended!

My friend and I came for brunch Friday 6th December around 12ish. I ordered full Scottish breakfast and my friend ordered eggs benedict.I have been here many times before for different meals at all times and I can honestly say my breakfast was terrible sausage had been recooked along with hash brown and potato scone.Half a slice of fatty dried bacon.Bread was so hard i couldn't attempt it. In fact I only ate tomato and egg.Very Very poor.Quality of food for SCOTTISH food embarrassing!!! I really think the owners of this establishment must have changed and are definitely struggling with something.To be in centre of one of our well known Scottish towns visited by many locals and holidaymakers alike REALLY BAD. So come on and get improving your food or people will certainly not be interested when there are other places to go with better standards.Paid nearly £15.00 for the privilege!!

There is a trend on the reviews here, with one very obvious trend ; poor customer service. Our experience follows this trend. It was a mid-afternoon visit in Nov 2024 with tables available. Upon entering it was not until the third waitress did we get any indication that we were a waiting customer. At this point, it should have raised an alarm bell, but we continued and were led to a shared table. Our order was taken and the tea we ordered came within 5 mins. All seemed ok, but then we waited and waited and waited...several tables who came in after us got served before us, another table had to ask where their food was, and another table did not even get approached for an order. After more than 30 mins of waiting no food had arrived so we decided to leave, being told an excuse that the ticket had been lost (after a waitress told us the order would arrive in a few mins!). Overall, a bad experience that ruined our day, with a clear organisational problem with how orders are taken and who does what when it comes to welcoming customers.

Quite disappointed with the service, I phoned to buy a bottle of processco for my parents who were celebrating their anniversary explaining the surprise. Once I had paid for this they received a confirmation email regarding this and also the pending amount on their credit card although i had already paid for this. I called back to explain and was apologised too which I accepted as a genuine error and was pleased to be told they will make sure they do “something nice” for my parents.. this did not happen they received no “nice” gesture. To top it off Once they were giving the bill the processco I had bought was included which my parents had to explain had already been paid for. Very disappointing service!

I had two experiences here, one average and one terrible (although for the terrible, some blame rests with me for coming in 20 minutes before they closed their kitchen). They definitely take a long time to get food out.

Coffee from Noah was excellent, came out very hot and quick, the food was great and service was good, especially our server, Eden, she was lovely and very friendly. I loved their xmas decorations, I will visit again.

Such a nice place to go and eat! My boyfriend and I went for dinner and our food was perfect, the atmosphere was lovely, and very reasonably priced considering how much we enjoyed it. Regan was our server and he made the experience - super friendly and couldn’t have been nicer - we’ll definitely be back!

Had afternoon tea at Mitchell yesterday. The food was excellent, the service was offhand and not at all welcoming. Which was a pity!

Location and Service are great but our food was really bad + overpriced. We had the Bhudda Bowl for 14£ which tasted like nothing (the tofu wasn‘t seasoned at all and soggy - not crispy at all) - we were very disappointed.

Ate here recently with a group of friend's. I ordered the chicken and leek pie which was quite bland but edible. One of my friends ordered a chicken breast burger, which was not chicken breast and another ordered cod (I think) with mussels, however, a significant number of the mussels were still closed. A little disappointed that the chef left the wait staff to explain his decisions. They did take the meals off the bill, which was the least they could do.

Had a great experience here with very tasty food in a clean, friendly and well run restaurant . We were well looked after by Regan who was attentive and knowledgeable. We would highly recommend and will definitely eat here again soon.

We had a booking where we requested to be seated if possible where the music was being played. We arrived five minutes before our booking. Three people who didnt’t have a booking were seated near the music while we were taken upstairs where you couldn’t even hear the music. As this was a special birthday I was very disappointed.

We walked past here today but unfortunately we had already eaten. I just wanted to say how beautiful the shop looked outside and had to take a picture. The food looked lush and the atmosphere looked like a scene from a book.

We were served by Thya and we had a pleasant time. The atmosphere is warm, and the dishes are varied and very good. Thya even welcomed us with very good French and recommended some places to visit in St Andrews.

Dog friendly ! There is a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options. Although we didn’t have booking the staff quickly provided us with a table. Quite popular spot in the Main Street of our town.

We visited on 15th August 2024 - an early supper. Our server Noah looked after us very well. He was attentive but not intrusive and responded to our needs with good humour and courtesy. Congratulations Noah - you made a (good) difference to our evening. Food was good as it usually is - we live locally so visit often.

35 mins for brunch to arrive when the restaurant was quiet. Hot drinks long finished before food arrived. 2 out of 3 brunches severely burnt (eg black sausages, leather-like bacon and tomatoes & toast burnt), but served to us nevertheless. The ambience/feel of the restaurant is nice and location convenient but unfortunately the food (ex cakes) is generally underwhelming. Shame really.

Lovely breakfast at Mitchells before attending the Scottish Womens Open Golf. Great choice of breakfast options and lovely coffee. All served by Iona who was very pleasant and very customer friendly.

This is a great spot and have visited before , disappointing experience today , we were seated around 11.20 , waitress was really nice and pleasant , we had a toddler with us , when we ordered we waited 40 mins for eggs B and sourdough toast so our child was on 1 with the long wait and although the food was presented lovely and it tasted great it was on the cold side so it was probably sitting . Don’t let this put you off a visit but this is an honest review in hope it is better for others .

Food was good, service a little slow but nice polite, helpful people. Nice atmosphere. Visited for lunch. There was a mixed clientele families, freshers, tourists and oldies too.

The breakfast was a nice combination of food. However, the fried egg was cold which was disappointing. The coffee was good and the staff pleasant.

The food is painfully ordinary, but there are dishes that are difficult to eat, the service is nice, you can satisfy your hunger here, but nothing more.

Outstanding fish and chips, daily menu pork belly was great too (super crispy roast potatoes although quite oily). Perhaps a little pricey for fish and chips but we would return anyway. The chunky chips were excellent and our waiter was very attentive!

We've come here often but yesterday found the standard had slipped considerably. Not enough staff, one vegan option which was a burger with fries served without garnish. There is a lot of competition in St Andrews so doubt if we will be back.

We visited for brunch as we had seen that this place offered an array of options for gluten free. We could not believe that the full breakfast was available fully gluten free. Such a delight. We had to double check with our server who had helped us the whole way, his name was Regan and he was great. We still can’t believe how much was available. The food was delicious and came as a large serving. Another great point for this place is they are very dog friendly! We will need to come back for the evening and sample the other menu as I have high hopes it will be just as good if not better!

Atmosphere good. That’s where it ended. ASIC hamburger with chips turned up 30 minutes later, both were cold. Plenty of staff on the floor but no one bringing the food out. Suggest you don’t go here… so disappointing.

We made an impromptu stop in St. Andrew’s while road tripping around Scotland. The hostess Kaelah was able to find us a table despite the restaurant being quite busy and us not having a booking. Food was all delicious!

What a lovely place! Thanks to Frankie and the rest of the staff for the excellent service and taking great care of us even though it was pretty busy (maybe call ahead if you're going for lunch to avoid disappointment). We were tired and our youngest family member was getting a little stressed while we dithered on where to go. I found this randomly on Google maps and we made a bee line for it. So glad we did! Sat in this wonderful deli, surrounded by beautiful plants - also for sale - we ate and drank a delicious lunch that satisfied a slightly fussy family of 5 (inc. 2 vegans and a 9 yr old).

The food was OK but overpriced and the service... "absolute car crash" - as someone put it in an earlier comment - sums it up perfectly. We waited terribly long for drinks as well as food, the Buddha bowl was a joke (the crispy tofu was actually soggy), the salad was soaked in a weird mayo sauce, there were no pickles in the pastrami sandwich and so on and so forth. Never again.

Mitchel’s in St Andrews chilled atmosphere . Lovely Bloody Mary’s and Iona was a very attentive server :) Other cocktails looked good too and not over priced .
