Beware the starter menu! Tempting, but the main courses (all around the £20 mark) are colossal - and very tasty - with a real range of tastes. Very friendly service, with Latin music playing throughout bit never at an intrusive level. We are already planning our next visit!

I'm Venezuelan and we overlap in some of our cusine with Colombia + a lot my family lived in Colombia whilst I grew up so I spent a some time in Cúcuta and have tried bits and bob of Colombian food near the border :) . This place is authentic and delicious the arepa with butter took me back to my child hood :'( so incredible and the empanadas are the only ones of this type that I have found in London (this style is only found in the north of south america, mainly Colombia and Venezuela I think).

My favourite Latin food restaurant in London, and arguably the best one. I’ve been coming here for 3 years, ever since they were inside Brixton Market, and I must say that they are not only consistent with the quality, it’s constantly improving. The service is always warm and friendly, the food always tasty and warm. Don Lalo is always here looking after every customer, making us feel at home.

Little more to the higher side as an average order can go up to £25-30 but the food matches expectations. Very impressive 😊

Great service, food and atmosphere. Had booked a table for 12.30pm Saturday 9th march however I was told in arrival that the booking was not made however the swift service I received was fabulous and a table was given to me and my party of 5. Waited a while for the food however the wait was worth it. Delicious soup with mussels, prawns, squid on the specials menu 🙌

I rarely write reviews, but this Colombian restaurant in London deserves all the praise! It was a far cry from the "average" Colombian places I've tried before. From the moment I walked in, the welcoming atmosphere transported me back to my childhood in Colombia. Vibrant colors, lively music, and the aroma of spices all contributed to the authentic experience. The food was simply phenomenal! My mother recommended the Casuela de Mariscos, and it was truly heavenly. Fresh seafood simmered in a flavorful broth with perfectly cooked rice and vegetables – it was a taste explosion! Every bite brought back memories of family gatherings and delicious home-cooked meals. I also loved the chuleta de pescado "cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and the presentation beautiful. But what truly elevated this experience was the exceptional service. Sebastian, our waiter, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made us feel genuinely welcome and even shared some interesting facts about Colombian cuisine. It's rare to find service this good, even in high-end restaurants. Overall, this restaurant was a revelation! It exceeded my expectations in every way. I finally found my Colombian food heaven in London, and I can't wait to return and try more dishes. A huge thank you to Sebastian and the entire team for making it such a memorable experience!

The food was nice, but the chicharron and the beef steak tasted plain, and should have more flavour. But everything else on the plate tasted yummy. Especially the sausage. The empanada was good. The rice pudding dessert was amazing! The portion was perfect and filled me up.

Delicious lunch! We absolutely loved having lunch at this restaurant. From starters, to mains and to desserts everything tasted really good and fresh. It’s an explosion of flavours very well combined. The drinks are also very nice and the desserts also delicious. Portions of the mains are huge, if we knew it before, we would probably have ordered only one main as it was too much food and we ended up bringing some of the meat home. The staff is very friendly, there’s lots of staff members, and the service is incredibly fast. I don’t remember of being served as fast as in this restaurant and the food arrived very fast too. The only negative side is that there are no updated information about this restaurant on google, they don’t have an website and the prices are very different then anything I’ve found online. The prices are a bit on the higher side, we’ve paid £84 pounds for 2 people. The only thing that I wasn’t very happy about it is that on the receipt it says “gratuity not included”, but they will add a 10% of the bill that they will write on the receipt. I didn’t feel that this is the way that should be done, because it should either be on the receipt or not there at all and the costumer would give whatever they feel that would be fair. You can see on the receipt how it looks like. The owner is very nice and kind, came to say goodbye at the door, we felt very welcome. We’ll certainly be back as we loved the experience.

Era la primera vez que mi novia venía a UK y evidentemente le lleve a cenar donde Lalo, la atención fue increíble, la señora que nos atendió fue muy amable, Lalo por su parte se acerco a la mesa a tener una atención más cercana, un hombre muy amable y con una energía muy buena. Como yo tenía resaca pedí la sopa que tenían del día, me devolvió la vida! Y de segundos yo pedí sobre barriga y ella bandeja paisa. Mientras esperábamos comimos empanada y chorizo con arepa, todo ello me recordó por un momento estar en Cali. La verdad es que sitios como donde Lalo hacen que uno sienta la tierrita un poquito cerca aunque sea por un momento. Mi chica quedó muy feliz y eso fue para mi una gran satisfacción. Gracias a todo el staff del Rancho de Lalo y gracias especialmente por continuar brindandonos un poquito de recuerdos de Colombia.

Had the set lunch. It was really delicious. The soup was amazing as well. The only downside was one of the waitress kept speaking to us in Spanish knowing well that we didn't speak the language.

This place is amazing! Delicious food, affordable prices, friendly staff, and the service is the fastest I have ever seen. Literally the second you finish your starter they are bringing your main. The soup is exceptionally delicious 🤤 I wish it had more meat and stuff in it, then i would definitely take an extra portion to go.

very good food, but their menu it’s not up to date, in the menu says clearly they’re serving breakfast until 1 pm on saturdays and went there before 12.30 and they said they don’t anymore, also the staff use to be much friendlier and polite when they were in the Brixton village

Hicimos una reserva para el día jueves cenar mis amigas y yo después del trabajo, pero no me dijeron que el restaurante cerraba a las 7pm y llegamos a las 6.30 solo tuvimos una hora y no sabíamos que cerraban tan temprano tuvimos que comer rápido y salir a las 7.30 casi echadas porque ni postre pudimos comer. Tenían que haberme explicado cuando hice la reserva que sólo está abierto de las 12.00 hasta las 19.00 horas estuve muy sorprendida porque cenar rápido después de un largo día de trabajo no fue buena experiencia

As a Muslim from Colombia, I personally have not come across another Colombian restaurant that serves Halal meat. Luckily, El Rancho De Lalo has changed that for me and I am now able to eat and enjoy my favourite dishes here. The service is good and the atmosphere is nice and diverse. I haven’t stopped returning since I discovered this place. Gracias Lalo and Team, Dios los bendiga because you’ll never understand how happy I am to be able to sit down and enjoy everything.

Amazing Colombian food. The sopa de plátano and carne de res con frijoles was like my mother-in-law makes them. And the limonada de panela was refreshing. Great service as always. Already planning my return trip. My only suggestion is to add papa rellena to the menu. It's the only thing missing. :)

Authentic Colombian cuisine, I had the menu of the day including Sancocho soup and a big plate with steak with rice, frijoles and salad, which was delicious and my partner had bistec a caballo also really good, also empanadas as a starter. The staff super friendly and attentive always making sure we had a good experience.

On the other hand, patacones and arepa were cold and flavourless. £20 for el rancharito main is slightly more expensive than expected in this area, though sides are included. Fast service. Unclear whether gratuity can be added when you pay by card (no service charge applied by default), better bring cash just in case.

This Colombian restaurant is a crowd pleaser. I have always had a good experience when I have been here. The service is good, they have both Spanish and English speaking staff. Every day there is a special menu, which gives you an option of a soup, main and drink for a great price. Small to large meals for all different size palettes.

El Rancho De Lalo is unquestionably the best Colombian Restaurant in the Central Brixton area, located on Buckner Road, right behind the Brixton Town Hall. I’m so thankful that finally, I was able to find this spot for some good coffee (Latté) and Colombian food just in time. The atmosphere inside this restaurant is very vibrant and relaxing. Amazing Columbian cuisine. If you love meat and BBQ, this is the place. Big plates of charcoal grilled meat. Big portions. Quite cheap for the quality and the amount food served. Friendly staff.

El menú tiene buenos platillos, algunas comidas saben muy bien, otras no tanto, el servicio al comensal pésimo, eran 5 personas (con reserva), el restaurante estaba vacío cuando llegamos apenas tenía 2 mesas con dos personas cada una, lo cual nos contento pues supusimos que sería rápida la entrega de nuestra comida, bastante sencillo lo que pedimos, no hicimos cambios al menú, ni pedimos nada especial o particular, 5 bebidas, 5 entradas, 5 platos principales. La razón de darle 1 estrella es porque a pesar de tener un dispositivo inteligente a la hora de tomar la orden, no la tomaron correctamente, de hecho 1 persona de la mesa quedó sin poder comer su entrada ya que no la pusieron en la orden, las entradas todas en diferentes momentos, y con bastante diferencia, solo nos ofrecieron bebidas al llegar, pedí hablar con el encargado, ya que los platos principales también llegaban a la mesa con una diferencia de entre 5 ~ 10 minutos cada 1, lo cual nos molestó mucho ya que quería obviamente comer simultáneamente que es a lo que se va a un restaurante si vas en grupo, el encargado solo se excusó en falta de personal, lo cual llamo excusa ya que vi que tenían 5 personas en la cocina y 3 mesoneros, más que suficiente para la cantidad de gente que había en el restaurante en ese momento, aproveche para decirle que de igual modo no era un argumento válido para entregarnos los platillos 1 cada 10 minutos, vimos personas llegar hasta 30 - 40 minutos después y les llegaban los platos primero que al último de los nuestros, era mi cumpleaños y me tenían una torta sorpresa, la cual una amiga me dijo al final del día que se levanto 3 veces a pedirla y no la llevaban cuando se paró la tercera vez, la mesonera se acerca la deja en la orilla de la mesa y se retira sin decir nada, cantamos cumpleaños y de inmediato todos nos miramos las caras, porque no trajeron cubiertos, ni platos ni el cuchillo, esperamos un poco y como no lo traían pues nos rendimos ante tantos infortunios consecutivos , y nos paramos de la mesa para irnos de allí, cuando se acerca mi amigo al mostrador a pedir la caja, allí estaban los platos/cubiertos, y nunca los llevaron. Decidimos juntarnos allí porque otra amiga había celebrado su cumpleaños allí, fuimos y fue todo genial, 5 estrellas ese día. Se que es un testamento y no todo el mundo lo va a leer , pero mi consejo es ve tu, y vive la experiencia ya que no es un mal sitio, y tal vez ya han cambiado al personal o lo han entrenado mejor.
