El Mexicana in Elmbridge

Stopped for some food and this place looked really good. The quesadilla and burrito was amazing and my iced latte was also great! The lady who served us was so lovely and friendly and would highly recommend you try this place.

A spontaneous decision to try something different. Brilliant decision. Fresh, tasty and love the fact you can select your own ingredients Definitely value for money

We have been to El Mexicana at Cobham Services on the M25 often. This time the staff were new to us and not as friendly. Amongst what we ordered was chicken and black beans. The chicken was tough and the black beans like bullets. We have never had food of such poor quality there before and it was very disappointing.

Today around 11, I went to mexicana cobham and ordered a naked burrito from the screen. My order didn’t go through.. however my payment did. The lady (Agnus or Aimee) who spoke to me by the kiosk, was rude and overall made this an unpleasant experience. I can’t believe mexicana would hire such a rude individual like her. I would definitely come back for the food, but if I see her I will opt for a Mac Donald’s.

I got fed up of watching my chips go cold while the rest was slowly made. 20 minutes later they started cooking my chicken. I left without the food.

Wife and I ordered different fillings; chilli and Jack fruit. We ate each others because there was so little jackfruit she didn't find it until the last bite. I found a kidney bean half way through. The filling is mush. I ordered large but there was no size difference. £2 extra for nothing. Sweet potato fries looked good and might have been had they not been so salty that I couldn't take the sweet potato, the only clue they weren't regular fries was the colour and texture. I will not bother with this again, waste of money £18 for two mush filled wraps and salty indistinguishable fries.

Stopped here for lunch today. Ordering is by touch screen so it’s easy to see options and make selections. There was a good variety on the menu, service was friendly and portion sizes were good. A lot better value than expected and teadty food too!

Myself and another 2 friends had the best burrito ever. And the churros after the are so amazing. The most excellent service and some fun. Thank you guys for your work during this difficult time 🙂🙂

The nachos chips are stale and chewy. These are not fresh ingredients. And the meat is cold (like fridge cold) they don't keep it warm. They are also stingy with food. For instance the worker put a small dollop of sour cream on my large nachos, I asked for more and he said 60p extra LOL! Therefore, they are quite overpriced for the quality and quantity you get. For instance, my large nachos with chicken was between £8 and £8.50. Finally, staff are sometimes rude, other times not paying attention and incompetent. Can't roll a burrito properly to save their life. There's a chain called "Tortilla" which is way better and cheaper.

Disgusting place. unhealthy. unclean. needs to be shut down. unprofessional manager or owner whoever the guy that was running the place tonight. Stopped by this placr last Sunday evening Feb 2nd on my way from London to Brussels Belgium for busibess meetings. bought a Burrito take away. almost swallowed a big piece of metal that was inside it while eating it. it was life threatening. on my way back to London tonight Feb 7th, I made sure to stop by, showed the guy running the place what I found in the burrito. the guy had an attitude, disrespectfull, unprofessional, in denial. This place needs to be shut down. health and hygiene services should investigate it!

Visited this a few times when passing and it's tasty but sneaky extra charges for most items (not even extras) seem to have been added making it feel like they're just trying to rip you off. Shame and I will use one of the other places from now on.

Stoped over for a KFC, but as we walked pass El mexicana one of our kids asked for nachos as he saw it advertised, so went over to get him a nachos, after having the nachos, my son said he doesn’t want to eat it as it’s too cold, I thought my son was having me on and as I checked the temperature of the chilli beef with my finger, yes my son was right there is a lump of ice in the meat, I took the Nachos back to the person who served us and I said to him it’s icecold the person at the beginning started arguing with me any saying yes of course it will be as all the sauces is served cold, as I stared screaming at him saying the undeniably is iced cold and got lump of ice in it, he turned around and said oh sorry this is how we receive it we receive it frozen and then we serve it. So I asked him the question are you telling me this beef is not freshly cooked, he said no it comes in frozen and we microwave it.

Popped in for a quick bite with my wife. First server looked bored stiff and indifferent. Other two staff further down the counter seemed ok although I wasn’t sure what one of them actually did. Ordered some tacos with chilli beef and this is what I got but my word, the amount of beef over three wasn’t even enough to fill one of tacos. I mentioned it and was told that ‘they are small’! One if the tacos literally had a spoonful of chilli beef in it. Come on! £5 plus for three taco shells, a hand full of Doritos, about 10ml of beef and another handful of chopped onions. At least wear a mask if you are going to rob me. I did try to complain politely but was met with indifference and basically ignored. Appalling and will never return. It is a cheap fast food place but doesn’t excuse the attitude.

with plenty of choice at cobham, this was a great preference as it caters to vegans well and is a slightly healthier alternative to KFC or McD

Called here for lunch on our way to Kent . We had 1 regular chicken burrito and 1 large chicken tinga burrito,with extra chorizo and Mexican fries .All a bit bland but best part was the fries!

I was really disappointed. I fancied Mexican. You need to do more staff training. It was not busy food looked unappetizing but stupidly I carried on once deciding I was going to have it. It managed to be tasteless and too spicy. They need to work on the presentation and not sure why it was so bad, It was the worst Mexican I have eaten. onexstaff member friendly the other one surly. This place will close unless sorted

It is such a pity that this place is so let down by their loyalty card system and that is just unacceptable in this day and age of mobile phone apps.I had a large number of points on my app and showed this to the staff who stated what I could have. I ordered a burrito and went to the counter again to have this scannedThe staff then stated that I didn't have sufficient points even though it showed on my app that there were plenty of points to cover the burritoThe staff were good and stated that this is not a one off issue with the app and pointsI have sent a number of communications to El Mexicana but to date have had no replies about this issue and does make me cautious about using them again which is a great shame.

Arrived at Cobham and saw the queues for MacDonalds/KFC etc and wondered why people always go for the obvious, especially when there’s such a variety at this services. Thought Mexican sounded nice so I got myself a couple of tacos. Problem was, they aren’t really tacos. They are open burritos. Bland, tasteless mush in basically a pancake. I now know why other people are at KFC. I’m off to get me a bucket. Not going to waste my life chewing this rubbish.

Food is good and not expensive. Service is friendly. Only problem is every time we go here we have a problem Using our loyalty points. Wish they would sort this out.

We have tried this Branch of food elsewhere, so thought it might be good to have lunch here.

An excellent selection of fare well cooked and superbly presented. Restaurant is separated from the pub area affording you peaceful dining.

Todo lo que puedo decir es que su dominio de la cocina mexicana parece estar a la par con su conocimiento de la gramática española.. no existía! (El nombre, El Mexicana, es una imposibilidad gramaticales en español). La comida era sencillamente horrible; tibio y sin sabor. No comer allí de nuevo.

Great litte concession at the back of the service station, plenty to choose from and quick service. Had the shredded chicken burrito which was delicious.

Cuando finalmente no te sirven las relleno eran mínimas porciones y si queríamos una cucharada de guacamole fue un 80 p. . . ! Después de todo lo que el burrito estaba fría. . :

Range offered at this stand rather limited. Our food portions were of a reasonable side and hot. Wouldn't say it was extremely tasty though. It's the services and you don't expect much. I'd say it lived up to expectation - expectation was not high.

Staff stood about chatting rather than serve myself and another person so walked off unnoticed to another establishment. Very poor

Stopped here on way home, El Mexicana seemed to be the only place offering a reasonable Vegetarian option, although service was quick, the portion of vegetable chilli was Luke warm, had limp lettuce and the size for a so called large option was more like a child's portion, to top it of its wrapped in a piece of tin foil that is pointless because the contents are cold.Wouldn't bother wasting my money here again!

I've been to this little Mexican restaurant in the services many times, their Burrito's are delicious!I'd told my wife a few times how good they were, anyway yesterday I was passing on the way back from a business meeting and decided to pull in. I bought my wife a veggie burrito and I had a spicy chicken one and took them away for our tea.They were lovely and we both really enjoyed them.I've recently visited a Tex Mex restaurant in Burgess Hill for a take away, which was rubbish. I suggest on tripadvisor the management visit the services to try El Mexicana!!

El Mexicana is situated in the Cobham services on the M25. On a ridiculously busy day during half-term holidays, I went there and had a great burrito, nacho and churros in less time than it would have taken to queue for the McDonalds / KFC etc. Better still, the quality of the food was many times better! This was proper fast food - quick, tasty and served with a smile!**** My review of 4/5 is relative to the other fast food restaurants at a motorway service station, not a comparison with other restaurants around the world!

Good selection of food, served very quickly and its very well priced for what you get.I will return to try more things.

Just a fast food with some Mexican-ish offer. After choosing beef Chili with nachos, finished with average size carton box of nachos, half spoon of been, some dead veggie and literary a touch of beef. All paid £8 is just about. Not complaining but next time will try something else.

I had tacos with chargrill chicken. There is a great selection and the system is really simple to follow. The tacos were really tasty and they were happy to accommodate my choices. I also had the churros (sugary doughnuts) which tasted amazing - nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, sprinkled in sugar and with a dip, they were amazing and worth the £1.50 for 3 of them - next time I'll get the larger option.Cobham services is generally packed so it does help to speak up when you are ordering. They did bring my food to the table as well and there are cleaners going round which were helpful. Overall I would come back here again and try more of the food as it was very nice.

If you can imagine a Subway-style buffet of food choices to choose from, but without the chemical-filled Subway bread, and with Mexican choices instead, you get El Mexicana. At these services I've tried different places to eat over time, but this is still my favourite. It's not difficult to choose something healthy and tasty here, especially if you take a salad as the basis of your meal, and it isn't expensive.

Needed a pit stop for dinner on a journey to the coast. Wanted a hangs change from from the usual burger or fried chicken options so picked El Mexicana. Pick and mix your fillings to tailor make a burrito, taco or some nachos. For was freshly prepared, hot and tasty. Good for a quick meal on the go.

Came here for lunch burritos were lovely, sweet potato fries perfect. However the churros are discusting! Under cooked and tasteless, completely ruined the meal!!!!

Myself and my wife and our twin 8 year-old granddaughters were on a short break in Buckinghamshire at the beginning of September and as we live in Worthing in West Sussex we had a fair bit of motorway driving to do one way and the other to get to Buckinghamshire. On the journey up we stopped at Cobham services, and as usual were pestered for a 'McD' and 'KFC' (one each), and being good grandparents we obliged (usual old stuff on offer, but hey ho). However on the return journey we stopped again at Cobham, only this time the girls were too tired to be particular, so we thought we would try something different. We went to 'El Mexicana and were served by a guy by the name of Iqbal. He was very patient and helpful and despite the queue forming behind us because we did not know what we wanted he carefully explained everything and let the girls try things to help them decide. The place was clean and tidy and well presented, the food was very good indeed, his service was excellent and it was a very enjoyable experience overall. A genuine 'welcome break' from the dull food offerings and poor service that you usually find at motorway services! Well done El Mexicana and very well done Iqbal! We would recommend anyone to give it a try!

Experienced the best possible customer service from Iqbal, great smile and conversation as the Burritos were crafted so expertly. He took the time to explain the ingredients to my daughter so that she was able to order one herself. Whenever we are passing Extra Cobham we will dive in there for a Burrito. Great job.

I like a Burrito, and I was pleased to find one here. the choices of meats etc are good, the same with the other fillings.The large one is smaller than I am used to but it was good and filling! A darn sight better than the McDs next to it, OK. its not the cheapest but again its a motorway service station, what do you expect?The coffee was decent too.I would definitely recommend over the usual KFC, McDs etc!Shame its not 24hrs like its fast food neighbour.

This is a great place for burritos that you can choose what you wish to go into them from a variety of the usual Mexican ingredients, from mild to hot (yes I'm sure that there's medium in there as well).They are quick to serve which is what you need when you are in the middle of a journey and are priced fairly reasonably as well.Definitely more filling than most fast food outlets and probably better for you as well - try the vegetarian option. Use their loyalty card/app loyalty for a free one after you have had a few of them!!!!Enjiy

As good as all the other burrito places in the UK with a few exceptions. Proper refried beans and a better price! Well done Mexicana!! You win the badge of goodness! Unlimited drink as well and excellent service. I'd go here at the Cobham Services over all the other choices.

I like Mexican food, and this one is a lot better than others I've tried around where I live. The coffee's good too!

Pass Cobham services at least twice a month, and often stop here for a break - convenient at about 90 mins travel time from Dover. If hungry usually grab a burrito from El Mexicana - in fact it's something I look forward to. Always tasty and well prepared. Infinitely better than all other options at the services.

I was excited to see a burrito bar open up in a service station. Sadly, it's not very good. I have a few problems with El Mexicana:1) The ingredients aren't fresh (or at least don't taste fresh - the guacamole feels like it is from a jar). Being based in a service station, I can understand why, but it does take away from the taste of the burrito.2) The peppers are woeful - they have been boiled to oblivion and don't taste good at all.3) The price for what you get is poor.4) The service is ok, but nothing special. In particular, the server just threw on the ingredients ad hoc resulting in beans on one side, rice on the other, lettuce somewhere else etc. They need to take a bit of care when making a burrito - place the ingredients, don't just throw them on!The only redeeming factor is the hot salsa which is quite tasting. Apart from that, give this place a miss.

Trip back from Leicester had an el mexicana oh my god yummy two big fat burritos cost just over eleven quid then kids meal for free so yum and cheap there is nothing else to say apart from having would travel the sixty miles from where I live to just buy that all over again five star without a doubt!!!

As Mexican food should be, you can choose your base and toppings. Taste wonderful and has great vegetarian options as well. Most of ingredients were very fresh and staff were very helpful. Sweet potato chips were good. Definitely recommend trying and I will visit many more times.

The value and food quality are spot on, the concept easy and the menu understandable. Now for something that should be systematic ( select your base, your topping, garnish and salsa) well at least have the display in that order we were back a forward in a completely illogical order, the staff need not look quite so bored and fed up but the speed of service and food quality was spot on. Still miles better than any other motorway service station for the whole food court concept.

Ate here for a break while stuck in traffic on the M25. Situated in the new, better than average Cobham services, this a simple outlet, offering remarkably tasty basic Mexican food. First choose the "base" - choice of a burrito (2 sizes), tacos, nachos, crispy edible tortilla basket, or a simple salad, then a choice of chicken, pork, beef, chilli or vegetarian filling, then all the usual accompaniments.We all chose the burrito and then watched as they stuffed it with ingredients, followed by a remarkably skilfull stretching and folding to get it all to fit, without leaking. The pork was simply delicious, but son's reported that the veggie chilli and chicken options were good too. Good tasty food, way better than the average service station options.

There really aren't enough good Mexican restaurants in England. So after many trips to Cobham services, we finally decided to give it a try for lunch. Looking over the counter, I was not expecting much, however the friendly staff member prepared my burrito with surprising speed and expertise. One will be pleasantly surprised, after sitting down, at the quality of the food. A sizeable portion, full of flavour, and relatively inexpensive. I will definitely eat here again when travelling, El Mexicana really should expand and open a branch near me, because the food is seriously good. Why anyone would eat at KFC, McDonald's or even Greggs or Marks & Spencers when this is available in the same building is beyond me.
