En el puerto de Newhaven encontramos este restaurante no muy lejos de donde sale el tender a los cruceristas. El restaurante estaba bien presentado y tenía mesas libres y nos vimos tentados por el fish & chips en el menú. El restaurante sirve una variedad de comida (mexicana, india, además de algunos platos de pescado y carne). Muy contentos de que elegimos el fish & chips porque era una buena porción, el pescado estaba muy fresco, bien cocinado y la masa estaba bien hecha. El lugar está muy bien decorado y estaba bien climatizado para el día frío. El proyecto de ley era muy razonable, pero recomendamos comprobarlo cuidadosamente.

Tuve una experiencia increíble! Los sabores eran audaces y auténticos. El ambiente era vibrante, y el servicio era amable y rápido. Recomiendo encarecidamente si usted está ansioso por la comida mexicana genuina!

La ubicación, la vista, la decoración de este restaurante era tremenda. La comida era deliciosa. Solo 4 estrellas, aunque como el servicio de bebidas era realmente inconexo, el aparcamiento estaba en la Asda local, que era genial, ya que era una buena noche para caminar. Sin embargo, el servicio de las bebidas no distraerá de una gran comida.

Mi amigo comió tacos con carne de res y lo pronunció excelente, picante pero justo! Había escalfado pescado ahumado en puré con salsa cremosa de mostaza que estaba muy bien cocinada y con una salsa encantadora. Sin duda iré de nuevo y lo recomiendo. Personal amable y servicial, pero no intrusivo. Nos sirvió Damien.

Le restaurant est beau et a vraiment une belle ambiance. Le repas était bon et les cocktails incroyable! Le service était impecable. Merci à toute leur équipe :)

Visited here on a Friday around 5.30pm and there was only 2 other tables in which was a bad sign... Nachos came out in less than 3 minutes so evidently microwaved and they weren't great really. Waited ages for plate to be cleared as staff all standing at the bar talking. When mains came they were just alright, nothing special. Not sure why they're serving Indian spiced rice in a Mexican enchilada either, doesn't go and it was BRIGHT red! We were never served by 1 person either, 4 different people came to our table, 2 different people to ask the same question as well so communication lacking between front of house staff. Staff were pleasant enough but we won't return, I also had a poor stomach after our meal and I hadn't eaten anything else in the day that would cause that. Every chance the rice was not reheated to a safe temperature causing the stomach issues I had for the 18 odd hours after.

I booked this place to have a lovely dinner on the terrace with my husband. When we arrived waitress told us that they are not serving food outside and sit us inside. Food was served fast and was delicious same as drinks. 20 minutes later other waitresses sit people outside and served food for them with no issues. When I asked our waitress why those people were served food outside if they are not serving food for terrace, she answered that it was manager instructions. I then asked to speak to a manager but bartender came instead and told us that because of the weather conditions waitress decided to sit us inside. (20+ cloudy day, typical for Edinburgh). My mood was ruined. Suggestion to staff: not to make assumptions and decisions upon themselves. It was Friday afternoon and it was maximum of 4 tables taken inside. Felt like she just didn’t wanted to be bothered to serve us on terrace. Upsetting, because it’s a lovely place, but because of such attitude from waitress we will not be back.

A group of 7 on a Sunday afternoon at 5pm. The food was very good and reasonably priced too. The table service could have been better. 3 of us shared starters and it took 30+ minutes to arrive. When it did arrive, those not having a starter got their main courses. This aspect needs to improve!!

I came here for lunch and ordered the shredded beef brisket burrito. I asked them to take out the rice, and they were happy to accommodate. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere and service were top-notch. Highly recommended!

The restaurant was recommended by a friend and it definitely didn't disappoint. We had just been for a pre wedding photo shoot and as we had gotten engaged in Mexico it felt like a great place to eat. Really friendly venue with subtle Mexican decor and music playing in the background. We started with cocktails which were delicious and reasonably priced. We found there was an extensive range of food options from small plates and street food to main meal options. My partner and I both had the curry bowl, lamb and meat options, along with 3 vegetarian side dishes. Food was served quickly and arrived nice and hot looking delicious. Our principal server was Swati who helped make the experience even more enjoyable. This will definitely not be our last visit especially as it's possible to have drinks only too here in a separate bar area

We went for lunch. It was not busy which is a shame. Perhaps it gets busier in the evening because it would be a pity if it closed. We enjoyed the food. You could have starter and main course as usual but you could also choose a selection of small dishes to share which is what we did. The little lamb chops and the prawns were particularly nice. What really helped to make it was our server, Justin. Helpful, friendly and attentive without being pushy. We will go again.

Lovely restaurant, had come here with a group of friends, amazing food, impeccable service. Looking forward to visiting again...

I'm pretty surprised this place has so many positive reviews as I thought it was pretty poor. The quesadillas starters were more akin to soggy pancakes, the cheese with chutney tasted like it came out of a supermarket jar/packet. My seafood stew main was more like a curry with a really large portion of rice. The garlic parmesan chips were missing garlic and the parmesan was clearly the pre grated variety as it wouldn't melt. The mains were an improvement on the 2 starters but I'm afraid this is not somewhere I will be returning to.

Great burritos & tasty margaritas. Visited on a very quiet Tuesday night and made warmly welcome. Had a good window seat and a relaxed meal.

We had a great evening here. Service was excellent and delicious mexican food and a friendly atmosphere. Really recommend the burritos. We were even given some bonus churros.

Booked a table for two on a Sunday evening as was very close to our hotel (Premier Inn Leith Waterfront). Literally a 200 yard walk. The menu is extensive with so many options! We went for the small plates and ordered 3 each which was more than enough for us. Really great choices. Particularly recommend the quesadillas. We asked if we could have one made with lamb even though it wasn’t on the menu. They did and it was delicious. A must visit if you’re in Leith or the surrounding areas.

Lovely restaurant. Booked last minute, glad we did as it was busy. Considering how busy it was , the food was great , hot and the service was really good. Highly recommend

Large mixed menu with a Mexican focus. Came with parents for lunch. Reasonably busy but only 1 staff serving food and 1 behind the bar. The food was okay but not much better than home cooking. Drinks pretty good although the white wine wasn’t very cold. The main issue was that one of us ordered fish and chips that didn’t arrive with other mains. After a while we asked and discovered it was given to someone else. It cake as we finished other mains but we didn’t get any offer of a discount and was fully charged. I’m a good tipper but didn’t do and if it was better I may have come back. Staff were pleasant so good look and think more about customers.

15 of us came to El Castillo for a Hogmanay meal and I can’t speak highly enough about our experience. Drinks flowed all evening, service was impeccable. The cocktails were perfectly made. The food was great value for money. Portion sizes were really generous too. The bill came to £600 for 15 people which worked out at £40 a head. This was for around 3/4 drinks each and loads of food. Fantastic value. Highly recommend.

Everyone in our party of 7 (ages 18-89) enjoyed their food. Lots of fish dishes were available as well as traditional Mexican fare, burrito bowl and lamb stew. Xx.

Fabulous! Staff so friendly and welcoming, nice view too despite the rain. I had trio of fish, mate had meat stew curry bowl. Both really enjoyed. Definitely recommend

Really lovely looking restaurant with a great bar area with a nice seating area. Really hope it works out as previous restaurants in the area have failed. Food was excellent. Portions quite large. Staff were lovely and friendly. Service was speedy. Martinis were excellent.

Excellent food and amazing service. Two of us had the burrito and they were delicious they came with chips included. I had the prawns which had just the right amount of spice. The fish of the day as also really tasty. The coconut ice cream...

The restaurant has a lovely ambience although maybe the lighting could be a little dimmer, we started with margaritas which were amazing and limey, then had nachos which arrived within approx 10 seconds of ordering, they were a bit disappointing though as they were cool...

Lovely food at El Castillo on Saturday night. We were staying at the Premier Inn which is a couple of minutes walk away and decided to give this new restaurant a go. Service was lightening fast, which wasn’t exactly what we wanted for a leisurely...

El Castillo (Mexican) restaurant in Newhaven had good friendly service, and tasty food. My wife enjoyed her chilli con carne, and I liked my vegetable burrito.
