Loyal customer for years denied due to dress code, pathetic, never coming back

Nice place, good food and drinks, very good pricing. We had the 5 for £25 sharing platter which was great value and tasty. The gentleman at the bar was very courteous and professional. All the staff were very friendly. Would recommend popping in.

Very nice German pub with some good German food and even better prices. We had schnitzels with potatoes and sauerkraut, which were a strong 7.5/10. I’d definitely recommend for a dinner and drinks - especially some German beer. They also had a pub quiz on while we were there (Monday evening) and it seemed like good fun!

An anniversary night out ruined by rude staff and a rammed bar. We came to Einstein’s hoping for a good night to end our year for New Year’s Eve and for a lovely meal to celebrate our anniversary - we were granted neither in Einstein’s. We’d never been before and when we entered there was no hint to where to go for service, after scanning the tables for our reservation card and not finding it, we wandered to the bar. While we were talking to a member of bar staff regarding our reservation the manager shouted across the bar for our names - which I found a bit rude. After scanning her paper list of reservations she stormed off, leaving the nice lad behind the bar to tell us she’d look for our seats and order us a drink to start our night. The manager quickly found the table and shouted to the bar staff what table we were at, only to quickly storm away which left the bar staff to awkwardly point to where we’d be sat rather than the manager taking us herself - the table wasn’t even far (literally next to the bar) - so why she wouldn’t politely tell us I don’t understand This rude encounter already put us on a bad start. We then sat and waited…and waited to be given menus for our food orders, but no menus arrived. After 20 minutes of being sat like morons, we went to the bar to be told you order through the bar - nice to know! When we ordered our food, the pizza arrived burnt and the fish and chips were very dry and bland. Being placed by the bar also meant that while we were eating multiple people would brush or push against our backs to get to the bar. As the evening went on the bar got busier and busier, so I’m pleased we left without dessert as I dread to think how packed and pushed in we would have felt if we stayed later. My only compliments for this bar were that certain members of the bar staff were polite and helpful, and our food - while lack lustre - came out quickly. The packed atmosphere, rude management staff and poor customer experience is what really lets the place down. I wouldn’t recommend this bar unless you need a quick bite to eat during the day, but I wouldn’t rush back anytime soon.

Food was ok (nothing special & not much taste) my partners food was very dry. Service was dreadful, we had a booking although we weren't greeted at the door or given any menus. We were sat near the bar and not even told we had to go up to the bar to order not to mention we had to get menus for ourselves. The bar staff were friendly and the drinks were alright but the front of house looked stroppy and unhelpful at best. They just stood chatting leaning on the bar rather than do anything like say a check back which we never received. Where we were sat we constantly had people pushing past us to get to the bar while we were just sat there trying to have a drink and some food. The toilets were grim and there were puddles under every urinal. All in all the food could see improvement, the service was just plain bad. And it made for a very disappointing two year anniversary night out.

Excellent experience, food and drink 5*, cocktails some of the best I’ve had, big stein pints of German beer on tap. Food is proper authentic German. Highly recommend.

Took ages to get served. Reserved a table and it wasn't even ready. Sat right under a speaker and could not hold a conversation as the music was so loud Food was ok nothing special.

1st time I've been here (that I remember). Very busy, especially on a Sunday afternoon. Usually a good sign of a good bar. Had to book a table and they're pretty strict on the times, which is understandable. Didn't eat here, but nice place. Popular.....

Terrible place. Doormen are bullies. They treat and speak to customers like we are something on their shoe. They won’t listen , swear at you and are over the top physically. We witnessed them aggressively drag a young male outside

Went for a family meal 8 adults and 6 children the meals were delicious and served all together no waiting the staff were very friendly and polite and special thanks to Sandra and Reagan

What happened to Einsteins. Terrible experience Is it a drinking pub or food pub, they need to decide. The online booking service doesn't work, after waiting 3 days for email confirmation and not receiving it i eventually phoned and booked a table, I explained the online booking didn't work, only to be told no one checks it. Seriously. So we booked a table for 6 people at 7:30pm Saturday 30th November, as a birthday surprise, unfortunately when we arrived, it was standing room only, the bar was 30 people deep. Unfortunately all these people were just drinking, and the table they reserved for us was the high table at the front of the bar literally surrounded by dozens of people using the table and only drinking. Now we asked to be moved as we weren't asking people to move so we could sit down, only to be told it's fully booked. And the server didn't want to ask the drinkers to move, I asked if we have a drink for half an hour could he sort us a different table, Which he did as a group were ready for leaving thankfully in around 30 mins, We eventually got seated and ordered our food, it arrived in good time around 30 minutes. On the whole the food was OK, the pepperoni pizza unfortunately was burt black underneath. And completely not edible, at this point we just wanted to leave, the noise from drunk people falling all over the place around the bar was absolutely deafening. We couldn't even have a conversation it was that loud, The men's toilets were like a swamp wading through pee all over the floor absolutely disgusting. The young lad that served us was fantastic and very apologetic, but the girl that served us was just completely ignorant and rude, she obviously didn't want to be there and it showed. They couldn't even get food past the ridiculous amount of people drinking and filling the bar area at this point they had taken over most of the space in the bar and eating area. Unfortunately when we finished eating our mains we asked if we could order desert only to be told the kitchen was closed. We then asked the young lady for more drinks and only to be told we have to go to the bar, So we went to the bar to order drink and the young lad said go sit down I will come take your order and bring your drink. We then asked her for our bill only to be told to go to the bar, at that point the yound lad came over and said don't worry stay there i will fetch your bill. He came back with the bill and card machine. The young lad was fantastic very helpful unfortunately not everyone has the same attitude. We love Einsteins but this was absolutely terrible. The drunken people filling the place was ridiculous, it needs to make it's mind up what it is. Honestly I can't believe I'm saying we won't be back.

We attended our third bottomless brunch on Saturday 2nd November and it certainly didn't disappoint. Every one we have been too has been well organised and we have both had an amazing time full of laughs and silliness. We've met some great friends who also regularly attend and it really does promote a fun and friendly atmosphere. Sandra, the host is brilliant, as is the rest of the team but Sandra goes that extra mile to welcome us in and certainly doesn't let our glasses get empty (despite my best efforts!) Would highly recommend.

Visited on Sunday for birthday celebration. The staff were amazing, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food came quickly, was piping hot and tasted wonderful. A great experience. Fully recommend!

We love this place! It's the perfect blend of lively, friendly and welcoming. There's always so much going on and the staff are incredible. We went for a kids' Halloween party which was fantastic. Sandra and Robin were wonderful hosts and the kids loved it. Food and drink are always top draw! Thanks guys, we'll be back soon!

Absolutely love this place, though I must admit it is a place I only ever go when I know I have the money. Me and my sister used to go here a lot, they do a lot of gluten free options that taste really good. I've also been here with my partner too. On one occasion we made a food order and sat outside with our drinks. The waitress came over to give us our order and accidentally dropped the fries all over the table. We told her it was ok, and my partner laughed about it saying he would still eat them. But the poor girl was so upset by what she did, she couldn't stop apologising and told us we could get another bowl of fries free of charge. Wow! Accidents happen, and she was very apologetic and kind about the incident. We thanked her profusely. Lovely staff besides that incident to begin with anyways, I've always liked the atmosphere here. I also think it's brilliant for vegetarian options too with regards to pizzas

Attended Einstens for a wedding reception. I've based my scores on the time we attended and the type function that we attended for. This does not speak for all times of day. Small function room was set out cosily, with plenty of seating. We had access to the main bar too. Drinks service was a little slow, considering the function was small. However, this did not take away from the welcoming staff and the care they took with each customer. Food was hot and tasty with a good variety. Staff ensured food was either replenished or removed quickly. Clean and tidy, although our table was full of empties, prompting myself to clean it twice during my stay. Would definitely visit again.

Boy oh boy! If you've come to Einstein's, you have infact truly found a gem. The bar itself is quaint and well stocked with beverages of all kinds to tickle your fancy. The steins are as cheaply priced as they are large. Personally, I couldn't go past ordering a currywurst. Which was to put it lightly, was just divine. Talking to the bar staff I discovered that they are all top-notch people who would gladly pour you a stein in an upbeat manner with a smile. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. There's also crayons and pictures on the back of the kids' menus to keep that one friend busy ;)

Had a few hours to kill on my way through Chesterfield, ended up in here for a drink and decided to get food also. Was not disappointed at all, the food was fantastic and the service very friendly.

Came here for bottomless brunch which was a themed Mama Mia tribute! Had so much fun. The cocktails were lovely and we were always topped up with drinks! Can’t wait to book our next one! Thank you!

Can't comment on food or atmosphere as failed to get served despite being 6ft 3in fat and 20 stone, get new bar staff who serve customers in order of queue. Door staff very apologetic and obviously customer focused unlike bar staff. Avoid this place where inside they employ only onanists behind the bar.

Dry, double fried pork escalope. One staff member is unable to be attentive. No real atmosphere although nice decor. Presentation needs work.

We used to visit Einsteins regularly due to the extensive menu and good vegan options, and the atmosphere. So we decided to book it as venue for our birthday celebration when booking I was told over the phone that because we had a party of more than 5 we should pre- choose what we want to order, but being as it was a birthday meal and multiple households we decided against it as the menu is vast enough. When we ordered, two choices of our meals were unavailable, (no buns for burgers ) and after we had paid we was told a further meal was unavailable. This being due to them apparently having 50% off mon-Friday in the daytime, something we were not told over the phone, and would of justified us pre-ordering rather than just being told because we were more than 5 people. The food arrived and was tasty, however the price is slightly too much for what was on some of the dishes, and there was no-one in the restaurant, including staff , so the atmosphere felt a little flat and the service was a bit inattentive. Also on reflection, I’m sure burger buns could of been purchased locally to allow the evening service to run smoothly, as they still had the burgers. When the dishes were collected, we were rather abruptly told yet again that we should of ordered again, when we didn’t even ask the question (quite arrogant and rude attitude) and upon visiting the bar for a last drink the bar staff seemed more interested in their personal phone call than providing “customer service”, and an opportunity to rectify the mediocre evening. I fully appreciate having promotions makes the place busy in usually non-busy times, but it shouldn’t be at the detriment of the evening full-price-paying customers or vibe of the place, particularly if they can’t deal with “said demand” My suggestion perhaps lower the price on dishes, that reflect their content and it will be consistently busier without the need for promotions and it will also be easier to regulate staff levels, and create more consistency between day and evening service. A bit disappointing compared to how it was 6- months ago, but certainly opportunities and feedback to improve on.

Food was so so delicious,great portion size .Staff absolutely fantastic,getting served,fixing wobbly table.Thanks.The only low point was tha Magners cider, worst cider I've ever had,My homebrew cider is 100% tastier.There are far better choices of cider on the market, eg Aspalls,Stowford press,Strongbow. Highly recommend having a few options at your great establishment for customers to choose from.Will visit again soon..Thanks.

Cocktails amazing, staff on point, the food order let them down, was very unorganised.

Just fabulous traditional German fare, very high quality, the strudel and the sticky toffee pudding were real stand out deserts, so much better than usual. The main courses were just sublime, cooked to perfection, good range of well kept beers. Even the toilet facilities were excellent and well kept. We had a lot of food and could have eaten less, but frankly we spoiled ourselves shamelessly.

Great food, very friendly staff. The big disappointed was that there's no accessible toilet and I wasn't able to get my client in the men's toilet. 😒

I love this place! Always fast fast and friendly service, great beers and just a stone's throw from the station! Ideal if you've been walking the local hills/canal, or if you're stumbling back from the Brampton mile 😉

Came in May, was 50% off food mid week, I had stake, it was the best stake I have tasted in a long time, melted in your mouth Husband had mixed grill and enjoyed that too, will definaly be returning again, lovely staff spoke to Sandra who checked everything was okay with out food

Fantastic all around! Booked for a surprise birthday meal and we had Ellie as our waitress. She was attentive and very friendly as well as helping with all our requests. Pre ordered food due to table size and made amendments and service was amazing. The food all arrived at the same time, was served hot and tasted delicious. Truly something for everyone on the menu! Made to feel very welcome and had a wonderful experience. Thank you!

Very inattentive staff, borderline rude. The pizzas were nice but slightly overpriced. The "honeyed halloumi" was dreadful, barely warm halloumi in a puddle of honey served on a sticky plate. Good range of German beers but doesn't quite nail the bierhaus vibe

Came at 5.30 on Saturday, didn't reserve a table but lots were already reserved. Lovely vibrant atmosphere, we ordered the fruit beer which was absolutely incredible. Then ordered an Albert's platter between two (hungry and big appetites!) Wow, we were very very impressed, I wasn't expecting such quality food if I'm honest, we were very pleasantly surprised. Fully recommend the food here, very very nice! 2 pints and the platter cost £35, which for two was absolutely incredible value for such good food. Will be back!

We got there at 6.45 pub was absolutely rammed ,went to bar to get a drink told the barmaid we had a table booked so took my card for a tab ,she went away came back took us into the dining room and never saw her again, wasn't told we had to go to bar to order nothing had to fetch menus ourselves, 15mins later I went to ask a server Logan who was most apologetic and said it was because of the show next door which we knew nothing about ,why do they take the booking if they can't meet them ?? So paid for drinks and left after being told 45mins wait fir food!!! It was my partners birthday absolutely diabolical service not impressed at all !!!

First visit to Einstein’s on Friday night before watching Simon Brodkin at The Winding Wheel. Pre ordered our food for our party of ten. We were waiting over 50 minutes to receive our food and when it did eventually arrive three members of our party were disappointed with their meals. My wife spoke to Amber, the Manager and she was exceptional at dealing with our complaint. On the whole,Staff were helpful in guiding us on which drink we would like in a Stein and let us sample first. Food was delicious-maybe a steak pie would be better served on a plate rather than a bowl-just a suggestion. Our first visit left us all thinking yes we would return but that was all down to the professionalism and first class customer relations by your manager, Amber. We were all impressed by her and the way she ensured we all left happy and invited us back after the comedy show. She clearly suits that role and deserves recognition from her boss because staff like Amber are rare and need to be appreciated and praised for going above and beyond in their role.

I absolutely love this place. The music is great and fun. The staff so friendly and helpful and the food and beer fantastic. I cannot recommend highly enough and we are quite difficult customers to please. My wife used to run one of the biggest food festivals in the Country so we have a bit of experience in the industry. We only went by chance on a three night holiday and went back three nights on the trot. Met so many wonderful Chesterfield people. Einsteins thank you so much for making us so welcome.

OK.. had a great time at the Rocky Horror Brunch. Sandra was top notch. Our glass was never empty. Rocky horror was silent on the TV whilst normal.music was played. Yes the film has talking but that's what people payed for. Play the film other punters wouldn't have minded. They did after asking played the sound track. Small gripe on a brilliant event. Thankyou Sandra. I was soooo drunk

Great selection of strong beers

Attended on a Tuesday night,so is pretty quiet, however staff are friendly and helpful. Their Albert platter sharer was more than enough food for 2 people, we took a takeaway box home with the leftovers. Definitely worth seeing on a busier evening to find out what the atmosphere is like

I hsve been to Einsteins on a few occasions and it never disappoints. Most recently we went for the Dorty Dancing bottomless brunch, was so much fun from start to finish.

There was four of us ,each one of us ordered a different meal ,each meal was cooked and served to perfection. We would highly recommend this restaurant for a enjoyable evening,many thanks to all the staff.

Amazing food, had a little wait for it to all come out but was in a large group. Wasn't very busy but still a good atmosphere. Reasonably priced.
