Hit and miss if this place in open. Please call before going. We have tried to visit 3 times and it has been closed on 2 occasions which is very disappointing when you've walked over and hour to get there. After speaking to people in the park the cafe is always hit and miss if it opens if the park in quiet or bad weather it closes. The one time it was open the food was nice drinks were hot and all were resonablely priced and staff very friendly. It just a pity the website is not updated when they are closed

Went there yesterday to feed two hungry adults and three grandkids at 12.15 and was told they had no more food, right at the start of lunchtime. To say the woman there (with the black hair) had terrible customer service, and was really rude, is an understatement, moaning "what do these people expect? etc, etc and continued complaining so loudly so we could hear her! Ill tell you what we expected in a cafe at lunchtime FOOD, which I diddnt think was unreasonable, but NO just a stinking bad attitude from someone who should NOT be in the food industry and clearly diddnt want to be there. She lost the local council plenty of customers and revenue that day as whilst we were sitting outside with the kids, she turned away three other couples and one family who drove away disgusted with her attitude. Please replace this woman and resume something like a semblance of decent service, with at least HOT FOOD at LUNCHTIME!!!!!!

A lovely cafe, just how they used to be before everyone got arty with artisan breads and cakes. A milky coffee and a bacon cob or toasted tea cake, cooked to perfection, why would you want anything more.

My son plays Saturday football on the adjacent pitch and yesterday was the first time the cafe has actually been open so I went in and asked for 2 bacon and egg cobs. I was told no eggs so it would just be bacon. Absolutely no effort and 1 minute later 2 Very dry cobs with 1.5 slices of nucked bacon loosely wrapped in foil for £2.50 each. Both cobs went in the bin, what a shame to have a lovely cafe in a lovely setting and a lovingless attitude. They don’t cook anything, no breakfast or sausage. It needs new management I’m afraid

Every time we come it’s either closed or there is nothing left. 3 full car parks on a Saturday and nothing was there to eat. I’d say it was nice to see it open for once but it really wasn’t.

Never open consistently, late opening at weekends, limited choice of food and when you order they run out within an hour of opening. So much potential wasted. One of the best parks in Chesterfield deserves better!

Not seen the café or the Pavilion open for Months, each time I've been in the park it's been closed with the shutters down, Since Lockdown the park has been neglected with no park rangers on site, Last weekend we had a Radio Operators Gathering *Eyeball* and some folks was disappointed that the café was closed,

Do support this lovely welcoming cafe it is unpretentious. It is run by Annette pretty much on her own most of the time and she is a lovely welcoming person who works hard.

We have been a few times for drinks here sitting both inside and now, since the second lockdown, outside. I can recommend the home made scones to accompany a drink. All served with a friendly smile and word. I think there are ‘regulars’ at the cafe as well as new customers. The car park is just outside the cafe so you can sit at an outside table or in your car to drink/eat whilst there is no inside seating allowed. It is a very popular cafe and a children’s outside play area is only a few yards away.

Boy, i'll tell you since our last visit, how this place has changed. I went in with the Mrs for a breakfast and was told "we stop serving breakfast after one" and ANY other food after 1.30. Another workman came in and was told similar, and he like us went elsewhere.I wouldnt mind but they were stood around, arms folded, chopsing to one another and one woman in there came out to start gossiping with a younger woman with a baby who we assumed was her daughter.I mean it really wouldnt have been much imposition to them to do a quick fry up, but they just couldnt be arsed. Go elsewhere, as these women cant be bothered.

Another very satisfying meal for me and award winning scones for the rest of the family, We call here for the quality of the food, the value for money, and excellent service that could not be better. Full english with a drink £5.50 excellent! 2 scones and 2 teas £5 beautiful!Couple this together with a sunny day and a busy park with lots of activities going on, it's perfect. There are older folk playing boules one end of the park and a football match at the other, very busy with dog walkers, then you can stroll round the lake. This cafe tops off your visit with the scones to die for! A definte gem for Chesterfield. AAAAA++++++

Been here a few times now and would highly recommend the cafe to you. On a wet and windy Derbyshire day the warm welcome begins with the staff and is followed through with lovely home made food. The breakfast is good, or quiche and salad, jacket potatoes, toasties and home made soup. Just what you need to warm you up after a brisk walk around Holmebrook Valley Park. Saturday mornings are busy with lots of young footballers and their Dad's queueing for bacon cobs! There is always a great selection of scones and home made cakes which go down very nicely with a cup of milky coffee.Recommend you give it a try - play area for children on far side of the car park too.

Holmebrook Valley Park CafeThis cafe can be found within the pavilion, overlooking the stunning views of parkland and futher afield into Chesterfield and the wider countryside. The tasty 'homemade menu' includes a plethora of homemade buns, cakes and scones, along with the usual snacks / meals etc I had a chunky steak pie / Jacket potato with Mushy peas and a separate mint sauce, Really nice. Chunky steak for only £4.75. Worth every penny.

We found the Rectory in Guide Michelin and as always the seem to deliver on their recommendations. It was a little hard to find the place, but one there we got a nice table facing the garden. Starters excellent - the lobster and the squid. The Duck as a main course also very good. The pasta with truffles needed more taste. The cheeses were served on a hot plate and melted - more raclette than selected cheeses. Attentive and friendly staff.

The food is home cooked, and I've never been disappointed yet. I usually go in a group and the choice suits everyone. The prices are very reasonable, it's not worth putting the oven on at home for their special discount days. The staff are exceptionally friendly even when really busy. It is so popular it is essential to book.

Lovely service. You'll need a toothpick after eating their steak—it's dry, overcooked, and overpriced. The tapas didn't really resemble authentic Spanish cuisine; they were just small dishes.
