Eilean Donan Castle Coffee Shop in Highland

We had venison and pasta for lunch. We were satisfied with the environment and the food given the conditions and possibilities offered by the restaurant. Nice and helpful staff. We recommend.

Buonissima pausa dopo la visita al castello. Il cafè è gestito in modo efficiente, il caffè abbastanza buono, i dolci strepitosi. Ampio spazio per sedersi.

After visiting the Castle, we called in at the Cafe for a light lunch. It was so sunny & hot, we just had a sandwich lunch, but it was delicious and the service from the young men in the cafe was excellent.

This is a nice simple place to eat with a variety of sandwiches and the like, and a coffee bar to get your caffeine fix.

Beautiful spot to stop and enjoy the scenery and obviously the castle…I’d driven for hours as a solo traveller with my little dog….couldn’t enjoy the food or drink as not dog friendly. Take away was available upstairs through the restaurant where we were not welcome. Disappointing

After our visit to the castle, we stopped here for a light light. The chicken wraps, cookies and coffees were very good and satisfied our hunger pangs. The service was good, and the restaurant was clean. More a cafeteria style cafe, it was fine.

We came here for lunch after visiting the castle as this was the only place serving food in the area at that time. The manager greeted everyone very welcoming. He explained they were very understaffed. He was extremely professional, he was always aware, despite the pressure he was under and supported his team. The food was lovely, we had Macaroni Cheese for the child, I had soup of the day and my partner a steak pie. We left very happy indeed.

It was quiet in Augustus and arrived at the beginning of the afternoon. Immediately a place to park the car. For a coffee or tea we had to drink it on the parking next to the cabine. The self service further inside was not used. Luckily we had nice weather. I find it nicer to have seat and then to be able to enjoy the sight on the castle. ( Maybe an idea to put a few tables ?) The visit of course was wonderful, with this hearing device. Though I liked the guiding tours from former days.

Grey and a bit drizzly but oh my goodness what terrific food. I had buttermilk fried chicken my other half had fish and chips. Generous portions beautifully cooked. A real find.

Durante il tragitto per raggiungere il castello i punti di ristoro sono davvero difficili da incontrare ecco perchè ritengo sia un buonissimo punto di ristoro del quale approfittare. Pulito, con personale gentile e cibo buono per quella che può essere una merenda veloce prima di ripartire. Ne riapprofitterei.

The coffee shop in the visitor center at Eilean Donan Castle is a good place for a lunch or tea and afternoon snack. The place is crowded and the line to get food is long, but the quality is good. Food is served cafeteria-style. You get your tray and stand in line, choose your food, and pay at the end. There are soups, sandwiches, sweets, and hot entrees. Lots to choose from. I chose the fish pie which was one of the hot entrees on the day of my visit. Nice choice; well prepared. And, I had a slice of tea bread with raisins. Quite nice. Fortunately, my friend and I moved quickly through the castle just ahead of two large bus groups, so we had no difficulty in ordering and getting seating. I imagine that the place is difficult during busier seasons. I recommend this place for lunch. Enjoy.

Great coffee and lovely food. Fresh and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and professional.

Just a little place to grab a cup of coffee, can get very busy with lots of tourists so be prepared for long lines, but also keep in mind what time of year you are traveling..... high season will be super busy and others times not so much.

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the castle, pretty crowded but lots of seating and line moved along quickly. Food was good!

I was pleasantly surprised that this was not just a beautiful location, but one of historical significance. Very nice tour, manageable (not overwhelmingly huge) and an on-site cafe that allowed us to sit and enjoy a bit longer. Very glad we took the side trek that day to go visit. One item of note is that it’s an”tidal” castle so during a good part of the day it’s low tide so water does not surround it - if you’re looking for a certain photo op with water around the site, check the tidal schedules and plan accordingly.

The coffee and cake were okay, but slightly overprized. The view on the castle is pretty cool and it's a good place to stay warm and dry when it's raining out.

Sinceramente non abbiamo trovato altro in zona e siamo stati li per colazione.Ma la sensazione è quella di essere in autogrill!Comunque il posto è pulito e molto comodo per visitare il castello.

Dopo la visita al castello ci siamo concessi un'ottima merenda e in tutta la permanenza in Scozia devo ammettere che in questo locale ho mangiato la migliore carrot cake di tutta la vacanza.

Recomendable para no perder tiempo buscando donde comer. La oferta un poco pobre, como la calidad. La parte buena es que comes y haces la visita, o al reves y no pierdes tiempo para el siguiente objetivo. Los platos se van acabando, con lo q la oferta se va reduciendo según pasa la hora de comida. Las vistas del Castillo, lo mejor.

There was along line of people wanting to order food and we had to stand in line after them just for a cup of coffee. The coffee was cold, the tea was great

After visiting the castle we tried out the cafe. Glad we did. Modern cafe with a nice atmosphere.

i need to say taht i was not expecting such a nice meal in this place.. the food was fresh and tasty, prices ok.. perfect place for a quick bite before heading on the next part of your journey

We arrived here at lunchtime to took our photos and went inside for lunch. There were some nice looking offerings and we enjoyed our lunch. Try to time your visit at a meal or snack time.

Great food! Good service! Excellent happy staff! Lots of variety to choose from. No table service but relaxing cafeteria style! And the property is so beautiful. A lovely afternoon.

Un café restaurant à l entrée du château : système de self service (des sandwichs, salades, plats chauds). Une grande salle, si vous trouvez une table avec vue sur le château, la pause est agréable sinon ça fait cantine.

We were part of a tour and it was nice to tour the castle and have a lunch. A nice selection of hot food and drinks. Beautiful view, too.

We were driving passed and decided to pop in for drinks. There is a lot of building work going on in front of the walkway to the castle, so it’s all a bit of a mess at the moment. The cafe wasn’t busy, but we still had a long wait to get our pot of tea...everything was so slow...it didn’t matter to us as we weren’t in a rush, but if there was a coach load of people I don’t know what would happen. The bottom area was closed off, so we chose to go upstairs where some tables had nice views of the castle. The teas were fine, but a shame the tables hadn’t been cleaned properly.

Our bus tour had a lunch stop here, no trip out to the Castle. Wonderful food and a very nice dining area, both inside and out. You can get expensive easy, so watch what you order. The view cannot be matched, Mr Bond, James Bond. Or was it Duncan, the Highlander? Either way, there was a pipper playing along the water that made for a super photo op.

Endroit exploitant la notoriété du château avec des prix un peu ridicules. Aucune personnalité de la salle qui pourrait aussi bien être dans une station de ski ou un relais d'autoroute. Les boissons fraîches ne le sont pas, nous avons dû en prendre au distributeur automatique. Le seul intérêt est de s'asseoir dehors en buvant ou grignotant pour contempler le château.

Very nice views out the window of the castle, interesting art on the walls and big seating area. Had a very relaxing hour having coffee, nice place to sit with friends.

We have been here many times before but we had not visited for 12 years. Nothing has changed at all, fantastic views, good choice of food.

Cracking soup and crusty bread after a tour of the castle on a chilly day. Warmed and filled us nicely.

Come for the castle, stay for the cheese scones! I am lucky enough to travel the whole of Scotland regularly. I’m also partial to a bit of home baking...Eilean Donan Cafe win my own private award for the best cheese scone in the whole country for the second year in a row. Always home baked, always fresh and if you get here in the morning they might still be warm. Delicious.

Do not visit in March, or perhaps any other time, if you are looking for a good choice of good food at good value. The lunchtime choice by 1.45 was non existent. The 2 or 3 sandwiches left were overpriced and under filled and the service was dreadful. Staff were very slow with the drinks and at coming to the till. But then talking to each other was possibly more important to them than serving customers. And don’t expect a smile from the surly staff. Given that most customers won’t be returning anyhow - and who would want to- the staff don’t need to care. It’s a very sad example of a poor Scottish tourist spot offer. When the cafe is as memorable as the castle for all the wrong reasons, management need to get a grip. What a lost opportunity.

You will be luck to find any filling on you ciabatta or any filling in your baked potato my sandwich-had no butter on it very little filling it was like eating dry bread. I think the owners have a cheek to serve and charge for food like this.

A must if visiting the castle and area. Toilets and a cuppa! Pleasant outlook at one end of cafe over the castle but if like me you cannot do the steps, there is an area near the door where tables are easily accessible and marked asking customers to leave them for disabled. Tea, cakes, sandwiches etc all very nice and usual sort of prices. Would recommend.

We travelled from Inverness to Skye at the New Year and as well as taking in the views at the Eilean Donan Castle, we also stopped in at the coffee shop for a late lunch. The food was excellent and the views across the Loch from the upper part of the restaurant are lovely.

Fantastic food and not a long wait, tea and coffee perfect, also a stunningly designed feels so light and airy and cosy.

Clean, nice selection of snacks and friendly staff. Everything you could ask for when grabbing a quick bite. There was plenty of seating with views of the castle and the lochs.

We stopped in here for a cuppa after a visit to the castle. Nice warm atmosphere and the food was lovely.

We popped in for a coffee and pastry while touring the castle. The selections were great and reasonably priced! Extremely clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.

While the castle itself is amazing i found the restaurant overpriced and not good value for money a tiny hot chocolate cost £3.35 nothing overly wrong with it i just thought it could be a lot better

After a very pleasant visit to the castle we thought a light lunch in the coffee shop would be good. And, actually, the food was okay. The service, however, was just embarrassing. Nobody to serve hot food; cashier had to go and fetch someone who 'asked' us what we wanted by not speaking but raising an eyebrow. It took a 7 minute wait for a cup of coffee by which time our hot food was getting rather cool. Mine had a side salad but on asking for dressing was told 'to go look over there..' which I did but still didn't find any. So, back again to the counter where I was now interrupting the gathering of waitrons for a second time and, goodness me, their conversation had to stop while one of them came to find the non-existent dressing then walking away to fetch a new container. He returned with it and thumped it on the counter in the spot where it usually lives and returned to his pals, without saying a word to me, or other customers now also waiting for the dressing. Less than charming.

We grabbed a coffee while visiting the castle. It was watery, quite poorly made. Service was lackluster. The bathrooms were clean!

Just called in for coffee and cake. The cake was dry, I think it had been sitting under the lighted display unit too long. Coffee was mediocre although out of a flashy coffee machine. Staff not very friendly.

Nach Besichtigung des wunderschönen Schlosses gönnt man sich ja gerne noch einen Kaffee oder Tee. Es gibt Kleinigkeiten zum Essen und auch eine schöne Auswahl an frischen Kuchen. Die Qualität ist durchaus gut und empfehlenswert. Ein kulinarischer Highflyer ist an so einem Ort nicht zu erwarten und in dem Sinne ja auch nicht nötig. Wir hatten Kaffee und Kuchen und können das sehr weiterempfehlen.

After visiting the beautifully restored castle, we decided that we would have coffee, tea and something to eat at the coffee shop. It was not the most cosiest of places, but coffee and cappuccino were ok, as well as the sandwiches. The view on the castle did a lot of compensating though …

Since we arrived at the opening of the castle, we toured for an hour and then stopped at the coffee shop for a pastry, coffee and hot chocolate. I was so glad that they offered a relaxing atmosphere to look out while enjoying our snack. This is cafeteria style but wasn't too crowded when we went.

This is a very nice coffee shop. I had the hot chocolate and a snack. The tables are on the upper level which had nice windows to look out.

I understand this place can get quite busy. The ladies at the cashier stand tried to charge us three different times. We kept telling them that we paid. I got a coffee and it was good. The scone was broken in half, hard and dry. This was the only one left. No jam. No cream. For the price, I would have hoped for more (especially a full scone). It's a pass for me.

The food here was lovely. Very busy cafe and the staff were not very friendly, maybe overworked. The food was good, I had a baked potato which was nice but not enough filling. The toilets were lovely and clean, considering the amount of people passing through.

The staff were very friendly and made some very good hot sandwiches. The tables were clean and the loft eating area gave a spectacular view of the castle.

Very good, because in Highland traveling is not much places to eat and drink coffee, there it is possible, to enjoy castle and drink cup of coffee

Had fruit scones and tea before the big exploration of the castle. What can I say, absolutely wonderful way to start our visit.

Un peu réticent à manger sur place, j'ai été agréablement surpris par ce restaurant. Oui c'est sous-dimensionné et donc on attend pas mal, oui c'est un peu trop cher mais on a une jolie vue sur le chateau et on a droit à une bouffe étrangement bonne: soupe maison, quiche idem, sandwich tout à fait ok... y a pas mal de tables dehors, c'est plutôt agréable.

It was a rainy and cold day when we were at the castle. So, hot chocolate was a must. Additionally, we had scones with jam. The hot chocolate was good and the scones and jam were tasty.

Good food ... nice coffee. Prices were of an expected level and didn’t feel as if we we’re a tourist cash cow

This is a cafe. Do not mistake it for a restaurant. However, the food was good and very convenient when visiting the Eilean Donan Castle. Directly next to the ticket sales office, in the same building as the souvenir shop. (Very nice souvenir shop).

We had a long drive ahead of us so we grabbed a snack to go. Lot's of grab and go food or you can sit down inside or outside. We sat outside and enjoyed the view before we headed out.

Standard type of food/drinks on offer and decor of place as you would expect at a tourist attraction. Expensive. £5.95 for a baked potato and beans with 3 or 4 bits of green leaves which are classed as salad!

Superb coffee and cake, opens at 10 am. Gets very busy so go early if you can. Friendly staff and helpful too. Reserved table for disabled folk. That was new to me. Good idea.

It was a cold, blustery, rainy day when we visited the Eilean Donan Castle. After the touring the castle, and it's grounds, we stopped into the cafe for some hot chocolate, and a reprieve from the weather. The view from the cafe is fantastic (and warm/dry!). The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hot chocolate was delicious.

After visiting the Castle decided to experience the cafe on site by the entrance. A good range of options with some home made pies and light meals.

The restaurant has a good choice of meals, snacks and drinks and the staff are very helpful and polite.

Der Eilean Donan Castle Coffee Shop steht auf einer kleinen Landzunge an der A87 an der Anfahrt zur Insel Skye in unmittelbarer Nähe zur gleichnamigen Burg. Von Portree aus waren wir mit dem Auto in etwa einer Stunde hier.

Tienen bastantes platos para elegir, depende la hora a la que se llegue a comer algunos ya no estarán disponibles porque se van agotando, Tienen pasta, lasaña, pastales de carne, sopas, guisos, patatas asadas rellenas, bosadillos, hamburguesas.

Caffè annesso alla boutique e alla biglietteria del castello. Buone alternative tra sandwich, dolci e piatti da cucina, prezzi non esagerati per questo genere di locali. Personale molto cordiale e preparazione veloce. Non c'è servizio ai tavoli: è di fatto un self service.

Very happy with the food here we both had their hot meals which are large portions (split) and very well done, they also have many choice for sandwitches and drinks if your stopping here plan around lunch time also reasonable prices.

Definitely eat at this shop! It's delicious and they have a great variety of drink and food! The atmosphere is fun and the areas are clean and quaint. Highly recommend eating here.

My German party loved it after a walk around the castle. Fantastic cakes in very comfortable atmosphere. Not cheap but you are in tourist trap heaven so no point being mean when you are on holiday. Everything is top quality. A most enjoyable coffee and cake experience.

We enjoyed the lentil soup. Choice of 2 soups to warm you up on a cold day. Baked potatoes on offer as well as sandwiches and a couple of hot dishes. Wide choice of homemade cakes. It's a wee bit pricier than other places but...

Whilst visiting the castle we enjoyed a caffeine and chocolate cake break looking across the bridge to the castle. The coffee shop has a wide selection of food and beverages and don't forget to visit the gift shop whilst you are there.
