Ego Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar - Kenilworth in Warwick

We love coming to Ego in Kenilworth and making the most of their fantastic deals. The food is always great quality and the staff are fab. If there is ever an issue (rarely there is) the staff are eager to listen and resolve, we really appreciate good customer service. My only minor complaint is that if you’re sat near the kitchen (which we don’t mind, you can’t have the best seat in the house every time!) the music from the kitchen is quite loud and mixed with the music already playing in the restaurant it’s a little off putting.

Booked for mothers days, must be the busiest day of the year, so was very busy and constant, could see all staff trying their best so couldn't ask for more, main courses was served hot and tasted great, special mention to Anne who took over our table even had time to speak with the kids, made the whole difference.

Disappointing visit to Ego, usually much better - seating request made at booking wasn't possible, but this wasn't communicated before we arrived, and we were seated in a busy thoroughfare for servers and toilets, under a cold aircon, near the noisy and busy kitchen. Service and food was good as usual, but the atmosphere isn't great here, particularly during busy times.

Layla was fab! Rushed off her feet on a Friday but still treated us like royalty x

Lovely place 😍 went with my cousin for a girls date. We had one cocktail which was lovely and strong 🍸🍹 then I had the Lamb, which fell off the bone 🤤 definitely recommend, not much veg and potatoes with it, so we ordered an extra side of dauphinoise potatoes to share too. My cousin had a chicken dish, she enjoyed hers. And also some hallumi to share. Overall very nice place, food definitely good! Would go again for sure.

We came after seeing the Tuesday steak night advertised on their website. On arrival we were not given any indication through menus or staff that they were doing steak night. We picked other options on the menu, around twenty minutes later we ordered our food except no one mentioned they had run out of both of these. No one told us this when they sat us down. Our food took well over an hour to arrive to which we had now been sat for an hour and a half. The food was lovely, and the steaks were cooked so well. But the service and wait time was extreme. From working in hospitality I would’ve expected some sort of discount or complimentary drinks while we had to wait over an hour we would’ve respected being told there was a wait on food so we knew from the beginning. Please see this as feedback as I understand and saw it was a busy service but I think we should’ve been communicated with and at least offered some sort of a gesture of goodwill.

Visited as a large party for a family birthday. Great food, good value prix fixed menu and nice atmosphere, wasn't rushed. Good kids entertainment pack i.e. colouring, puppets, matching game which was a treat. Only niggle was service was very light touch, not bad at all but left waiting for drinks and long wait to get the bill at the end.

Been here before and from memory it was good. But yesterday (a 4pm sitting so wasn’t busy) we had a party of 12. Took 50 mins just to take our order. 45 further mins for starter. Didn’t get our mains until gone 6pm.. I had a 1 year old with me who usually eats at 4:30/5 and didn’t eat until 6.. when the food arrived it was dry and tasteless, side fries were maybe 12 fries dried and bottom of the pan.. it was 50/50 feedback to others food and how theirs was. really disappointed. Took 15 mins to get someone to respond at the bill (as only one member of staff could assist with that?) We did feed back whilst there but they just said sorry to hear that and carried on. Won’t be returning any time soon.

First ever visit, and it was great. Going again this week, to try their kebabs.

Having been to Ego many times, not lately though, decided to visit with a friend. Overall experience today was disappointing. We had to wait 45 minutes for our starter, and that was after reminding the waiting staff. There were tables around us whom came in after us but got served before us. I opted for the goats cheese starter which I expected to be warm (the dish usually is in other establishments) but it was cold and not particularly palatable. Main course I opted for lamb shank. Whilst the meat was very tender, the taste was lacking. Overall a very disappointing lunch.

Lovely meal out tonight as always, great food and great service! It was so nice to see Julie back working too - we first brought our daughter to Ego when she was 8wks old and Julie looked after us and took a photo which we still have! Our daughter is now 8yrs old and loves making her own pizza!

Excellent authentic Greek Kleftico

Staff Amran were very friendly despite being busy. The food was served quickly and tasted great, but the restaurant was a bit noisy.

Good food but portion size (paella) was rather small for the price and several items from the menu were unavailable.

Food and service were impeccable

We were given a warm welcome on arrival by the friendly staff who were very helpful throughout the evening. The food was very good, but a bit larger portion would have got the fifth star. The dining area had a nice comfortable feel to it and not overcrowded.

Dined at 7.30pm on Weds 22nd Jan. Great service from Amran, very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Food generally very good.

We have been visiting Ego in Kenilworth for many years now and have always found both the food and service excellent 👌 We go every week or two and find the price to quality point excellent, over the years there may have one or two issues on occasions - as in any restaurant we have visited - and we eat out a lot, but once mentioned to a team member any issue has been dealt with quickly and efficiently and has not impacted our dining experience. Well done to Andrea, Rado and the team, the hospitality sector is certainly a difficult one at the moment, but Ego is one of our go to restaurants in Kenilworth. Keep up the great work!

Amran provided a great service. The best roast in a while and a proper portion size.

New Years Eve, Six of us had an amazing time. Could not fault a single thing, Food (Set Menu) but loads of choice. Service & Atmosphere all exceptional. Entertainment from 9pm onwards (Male Singer). Our Waitress Maria was really attentive, all staff worked really hard. Will definitely recommend to family & friends.

We dropped in without booking ( a bit late in the day) and they found us a table straight away,we had a fabulous roast meal and we’re very impressed that even though we were late ,the kitchen went the extra mile to sort us out with good food ( many thanks) and very enjoyable

Tried the Sunday roast this time and once again excellent food and service. Clean and tidy . Update, still as above, except for a different dish this time. Food is excellent ,good menu choice . More to come later.

Me and my partner came for afternoon tea for my partners birthday, when we arrived the waitress just pointed to a table and we had to seat ourselves. We ordered what tea we wanted and asked for some water too, which we didn't get until 10 minutes after the tea and food was served as they forgot. The food was nice, just the bread was very hard and stale. We were ignored for most of our visit and we asked for more sugar for our tea which we never received as they forgot again. The staff seem like nice friendly people, but the attentiveness just wasn't there today unfortunately. Such a shame as it feels like it's put a dampener on the birthday celebrations now

Went for an Xmas meal from the set menu. Efficient and friendly service, and no issues with the food

If it's busy it seems to affect a restaurants ability to produce decent food, this place is not and exception. The Yorkshire pudding that 3 of my 4 guests had were cold and 2 were undercooked. The roast potatoes were hard and and barley warm.

We visited Ego Restaurant as a group of six, and we had such a great time! The food was absolutely delicious – we couldn’t fault it. The staff were brilliant, so friendly and welcoming. A big thank you to Penny and the rest of the team, especially the lovely lady who made our drinks (sorry I didn’t catch your name!). You all made us feel really looked after, and it was such a nice touch that someone offered to take a picture of us. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was amazing, and the service was spot on. Thank you for such a lovely evening – we’ll definitely be back!

The ultimate test of a restaurant - a big birthday party of mostly old folks. Friendly but courteous and efficient service. Superb food. Beware the allergy filters in the online menu - the reality is that the chefs are adept at modifying the ingredients, giving a much wider choice than offered online. I strongly recommend that they change the filter system to show, for example, "dairy free on request" as we would not have chosen this restaurant ourselves having reviewed the menus. Fortunately, our hosts did choose it!

Excellent restaurant, our server Ameliea was very friendly and helpful. The food was really nice, which is obviously the main reason to go, so I'd recommend it and will visit again. 👍

My fillet steak was the toughest fillet I've ever had. My partner had the roast and again the meat was tough. Another of our pary had undercooked green beans. I won't rush back.

I was looked after by Anne - relaxed style and very efficient. I have to say that the Greek salad I ordered was the best yet - truly delicious - and met my current diet needs. Great ambience in the restaurant - we hadn't booked, but the table location was perfect. Delicious lunch all round - heartily recommend Ego Kenilworth.

Lovely little spot in kenilworth. Have an extensive vegan menu and also gluten free menu too. Food is tasty, have also been the one in Bromsgrove which is lovely too. Friendly staff, very clean environment. They also do a lot of different offers depending on which night you go which can save you some pennies 💵 Would recommend 👌🏼

Now we love an afternoon tea! To have somewhere that does one locally at such a good price! Lets start with cost, on average we have found an afternoon tea costs anywhere between £20-£30pp, at ego it's £15.95pp with the option to upgrade to enjoy either a fizz or gin and tonic for an additional £5. It feels like a deal. There is a fairly average selection of sandwiches, cakes, and scones, but this is exactly what you want from an afternoon tea. I felt like they were really conscious of dietary requirements. Now we didn't need any, but I'm confident they would be ready to make any adjustments if required. The restaurant has a bright atmosphere to it in the day. It's clean well set out. The staff were attentive and very pleasant. To park, there is paid parking around the back of the highstreet. It's not too far away, and as you are located on the highstreet at the restaurant, there is always plenty to see and do to make more of your trip into Kenilworth. I thought the afternoon tea here, while not the fanciest you know exactly what you are gettinv, and is absolutely lovely and we will be back 100%.

Celebrated Anniversary yesterday evening. Made a mistake with the booking but despite being fully booked (40% off event) Abby played a blinder and managed to fit us in. Enjoyed our free anniversary Prosecco and both of us had the Duo of Pork which was delicious. Service was very good and quick consideration how busy they were. Great value. We've even kept the incorrect booking I made to hopefully make a return visit very soon.

Only two vegan options, the fritters aren't great either.

Ego can always be relied on to serve beautifully cooked tasty meals . We had chicken supreme for lunch which was lovely my only criticism is not enough sauce on the meal although I probably should have asked for more!

Not happy at all. I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, very posh. However, the waiter had a bit of an attitude at the beginning, and later, the manager did as well. We were already unhappy because the food arrived at the table without any cutlery beforehand. Then, we noticed that our steaks were wrong—they were well done, so they took them back and replaced them. However, the replacement steak was rare, which was still incorrect as I had ordered medium-rare. Naturally, we sent it back again. They only took one steak and one glass of wine off the bill, which I think was disgraceful, as the whole experience was very unprofessional.

Amran was great! Very helpful, friendly and our little boy loved his jokes!

Had a celebratory meal on Sunday for 12 of us. The service, as always, was great as was the food. Our go to place in Kenilworth.

Very good food and attentive staff however waited way too long between courses. Normally food is more timely brought out.

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch, trio was amazing. Nice glass of Merlot accompaniment. Staff were excellent, friendly prompt service. Special mention for Anne.

Staff were lovely and friendly but food came extremely late, we were the second customers at the restaurant during dinner but received the food last while all the other tables were served but had ordered much later than us. The staff were kind enough to apologise and gave us complementary desserts which we much appreciated.

Possibly worst afternoon tea. Served within 5 mins of arriving. Sandwiche bread was stale from sitting around. The cream for scones was turning and not at all chilled. Very disappointing.

Food was tasty, mostly seasoned well and mostly plentiful, although the chicken portion was small and stuffing portion was a tiny ball - tasted lovely and I wished there was more. Cauliflower cheese dish wasn't hot and lacked seasoning. Service was slow, initially waiting 45 mins for food to arrive but thankfully we weren't in a hurry. Served table water and drink almost immediately though and staff were attentive. Overall, it was okay and I'd probably return to try other dishes on the menu.

We had to wait 60 mins after ordering before getting our starters. When the server took our order she said the soup of the day was french onion. Two of our party ordered this but when the soup arrived it was red pepper soup which they didn't want. They were offered the chance to order another starter but after a 60 minute wait they declined. Eventually they were offered bread and oils which they accepted. The remainder of the meal went smoothly and we were not charged for the bread. However it would have been acceptable to us if they had deducted all of our starters from the bill due to the long wait and no explanation as to why they decided to change the soup without advising us after we had ordered. Needless to say no tip was left.

Food was immaculate, staff are very polite too. It's an hour drive for us but worth it!

They no longer offer takeaway, which I used to order regularly, but I really wanted the Chicken Supreme. Anne was polite went above and beyond by speaking with the chef to accommodate my request. It's not something they typically do, but it shows just how much they value their customers. I’m absolutely thrilled with their outstanding service! Give her a bonus 😊

What a find this Ego is! Came for lunch with my three sisters, to celebrate a birthday. Atmosphere lovely, staff super friendly and attentive, and the food was gorgeous. I had the Moroccan lamb. So tasty and tender. Will definitely be back!

The prices are actually quite reasonable. However, I ordered a beer (Estrella Damm) and from my first drink I noticed it was artificially sweet. This was the first time I actually didn’t finish a glass of beer in my life - I found out upon paying by looking at the receipt, that they may have added lemonade to it, which I definitely didn’t ask for. I have never experienced this in my life. Also, the food was definitely not as warm as freshly cooked food would be. It was as if I went to Aldi, I got the most basic ingredients and quickly assembled a dish. Also, the Greek salad was questionable at best, as it looked like they brought well shaken vegetables with a bit of feta on them. The atmosphere in the place is good, though, and the staff is very friendly. I don’t think I can recommend the place given the above.

Lovely get together with friends. Great service. I don’t always find you get a good portion so need 2 courses. The Wednesday deal is very good though

Head’s up, in its day this was a decent place to eat, my last meal there was 12 months ago,, which was awe-full. Today I thought I’d give it a go,,, ! Stay clear kids it’s even worse, I sent cold meals back ,, they ping’d them in the microwave… I paid for me starter and beer ,, that was it , a nice afternoon fooked 👍🏻

The food was ok had an issue with one of the starters and one of the side dishes. They were knocked off the bill without us even mentioning it, which I thought was nice. The service staff were lovely. Atmosphere was a friday night was nice but the aircon was a bit too much for the girls. All in all we had a nice night.

Food was good, some pin bones in the fish and dry pork fillet but overall nothing to complain about. Service was lacking. Mains brought out before starters were cleared and having 3-4 members of staff stood by the bar chatting about rotas and talking away meant service wasn’t as efficient.

As usual, excellent service with great attention to detail. Staff were courteous, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Not one of my favourite places to eat ,not a lot of choice on the menu could be more choice ending up having a pizza but not that filling bit price four of us paying 90 pounds and had to eat when I got home because I was still hungry. The staff were great and helpful but a bit quiet when we went .

Would definitely recommend and will return.
