Lovely little find - steaks cooked to perfection

Grim and disappointing. Food was good but they allow dogs to sit on soft furnished chairs and eat off the table. Staff don’t care and serve directly to this table and couldn’t care less.

Lovely sunny day sat outside. All the staff very nice. The hummus was very nice, Chips ok in a little container. I ordered the children’s menu for our grandson the penne pasta was very good and enough for a child. In the children’s menu deal dessert was included. We opted for the chocolate ice cream again a large portion and very good. As a vegan I tried the vegan pizza. I’m afraid it wasn’t very good and only had one leaf of basil which was disappointing. It just didn’t make it …… it was sloppy and the cheese topping was a bit slimy. I appreciate the attempts at vegan food just needs tweaking. The waiter was extremely attentive when I said I didn’t enjoy no problem he said I will talk to the chef. The pizza was taken off the bill which i really appreciated. My husband ordered the steak which he enjoyed had a tomato and chips with it he missed mushrooms it’s funny nowhere serves peas anymore which can be kept in the freezer. This is a wonderful pub with a good menu choice and choices of lagers. Plenty of very nice seating areas inside and out. Plenty of parking. Dogs welcome which is nice to see even though we don’t have a dog now. Will definitely be back soon when in the area. I would recommend this lovely pub.

This was our first visit as a family of 9, coming for Easter weekend, Sunday lunch. Firstly there was plenty of parking, which was a relief. It was well hosted, by a very smartly dressed male host, and very busy with lots of large tables. Lovely decor throughout, and all of the staff were smartly dressed and friendly. We really enjoyed it, especially the Moroccan Lamb main, but we all agreed the dishes were full of flavour, hot, and beautifully presented. The only thing we thought needed improvement, is clearing empty plates and glasses. Putting mains down when you haven’t cleared starter plates, and walking away empty handed, too quickly for anyone to ask for them to be taken… and it wasn’t just one server, it was most. But aside from that - great, and we would love to return.

Went for a night out with the family. The staff were polite and friendly, the menu had a very good choice to suit everyone, food was delicious, will definitely be back very soon.

Service is a little slow but food is amazing

We visited The Ego Pomeroy with our children this week during the half-term for late lunch/early dinner and we had such a splendid time. It’s a great spot to get your kids fed and spend quality time as a family, made even better by the fantastic cocktails we enjoyed on your terrace while kids were playing in the garden after dinner, needed to burn some energy after puddings🙏! Their new spring menu is superb—highly recommend the lamb, it was absolutely delicious! The cocktail selection was impressive too, and everything was served with a genuine smile, which really made the experience feel special. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

I didn't visit for a very long time Pomeroy and I was pleased to see that one of my favourite dessert is back on the menu...Creme Brulee🙂. Consistently great service and great food. Staff are very attentive. Great to visit with the friends, plenty of car park and good atmosphere.

Good mid-price price restaurant. Tends to be rammed lunchtimes, and wait times vary. Normally some kind of meal offer on. Can be quite noisy due to zero soft furnishings.

I stopped by for lunch and had such a great experience! The food was fresh and full of flavor, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was really inviting. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing midday meal. I’d definitely love to come back again!

We recently moved to Little Chalfont and stopped at the Pomery while we waited for our sale to go through. It was just after 11 so we had a coffee. The manger was rude and abrupt. We thought maybe was just having a bad day. We’ve been back 3 times since and all the staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. However on every occasion the manger has been rude, unhelpful and abrupt. We drove there on a Sunday morning to book a table inside in the bar as we were planning to bring our dog with us later. Before we’d even said what time or where we’d like to sit we were told that they were fully booked. He then walked off. The member of staff apologised and booked us the table we wanted at the time we wanted. On another occasion we walked in for food and were told that they were fully booked and could not serve us. There was no offer of an alternative time and he walked off. The staff behind the bar apologised and suggested that we tried the pub down the road. We then tried to book a table outside on another occasion and again my wife was told by the manager that she couldn’t book a specific table on the terrace despite the fact that we’d been in previously and seen tables booked. I then once again drove to the restaurant and asked another member of staff who booked the table we requested. However when we arrived the manger refused to honour our booking, once again the other members off staff tried to help us and offered to serve the food on the grass area. This was overruled again by the manger who then went home. He is a tall thin man who I think is called Alex. He is the rudest person I have ever met in customer service. I feel sorry for the staff who have to work with him as they are all lovely, helpful and attentive. This is our local and we will return despite how rude the manager is. Hopefully he will improve his behaviour towards his customers in the future.

I recently had a frustrating experience at Ego at The Pomeroy, Amersham that left me and my wife really disappointed. We showed up around 6:30 PM, and while we didn’t have a reservation, the restaurant was only about half full with plenty of available seating. Despite this, we were turned away because they claimed they were “too busy.” It felt like an excuse, especially since there were clearly open tables. What was most frustrating was the lack of any effort to accommodate us or offer a solution, like suggesting we wait for a table or come back later. It felt like we were dismissed without a second thought. Honestly, the experience was really off-putting, and we won’t be returning. There are plenty of local places. Hat know how to treat customers, even when they’re busy.

The Pomeroy in Amersham offers excellent value for money with great prices and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu has a fantastic selection, but I highly recommend the prawn linguine—it’s full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The service is friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in the area.

Amazing in every aspect. The Prix fixe menu is highly recommended. I had calamari, chicken supreme and apple cinnamon pie Wonderful staff and ambient. Also very child friendly. Delectable food

I cannot knock the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff and the restaurant is clean with a hybrid modern and traditional feel. We visited for Sunday lunch. Our starters were delicious I would recommend the spiced lamb koftas and the calamari. The roast itself was poor really disappointing! My wife has the chicken supreme and I had the seranno wrapped pork fillet both meats were very dry! The roast potato’s were pale and hard not crispy in the slightest, the vegetables were random… who puts five spice in braised red cabbage it’s awful. We asked for cauliflower cheese and received the smallest portion of cauliflower in a yellow coloured sauce (not cheesy). The drink selection is vast with plenty to suit all tastes. I think my expectations of this Sunday roast were set too high! I cannot knock the staff though they were lovely!

We had a fantastic time here. The food was great, the drinks were amazing and the staff were so lovely and accommodating. We came out for a birthday and the staff brought out a dish with a brownie and ‘Happy birthday’ written in chocolate sauce. Thank you all for making our evening - but a massive thank you to Roberto who was our server.

This was our first visit to the Ego at the Pomeroy but it certainly won’t be the last. Not a single complaint. The food was absolutely delicious, not only that there was so much choice and it was reasonably priced. The waiter was such a lovely young man - so good at his job. Because the restaurant was almost full it had a very nice atmosphere and finally it is nicely decorated and very welcoming. Congratulations you have got it so right.

We went yesterday for a roast and I have to say the food was truly delicious. Service was also so good. Will definitely be going back.

I visited today with my 2 year old and baby. I ordered the kids pizza and asked if I could order the dessert later for the '2 courses for £10 for unders 6s' offer which they said yes. After I had paid I realised they had charged me for the under 12s menu which is more expensive. As I left I showed the man wearing the suit who I assume is the manager that I was over charged. He said she was given the pizza from the under 12s menu so that's what I have been charged. I mean come on she's tiny and clearly under 6 (4 years under to be precise!) He continued to say the under 6s pizza is very small to which I replied that's what I'd expect for a under 6s menu! It was only a few pounds but how I was treated and dismissed as if it was my error that it was put through wrong on the till was very disappointing and not the level of service I have experienced before in the restaurant

Fabulous restaurant with a great atmosphere and fantastic food. The menu is extremely varied and a great choice on my visit of the pan fried Cod which was delicious.

Omg this place is wonderful friendly staff our waiter Alexander was a pleasure he was so kind so helpful, it has delicious food, cosy atmosphere where we was sitting anyway and for the food we got was actually decent on price I’ve been places before where food was bit bleh and was ridiculously overpriced so this place definitely is a hidden gem we will 100% be going back especially for the beef bourguignon the meat didn’t even need a knife it just fell apart was delicious 10/10 xxx

We always have a lovely meal and great service at The Pomeroy. This time was no exception. We had a birthday promo discount but were treated no differently. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and had excellent service from Roberto. Looking forward to our next visit.

Went there for work belated Christmas do. Even though the food wasn’t fantastic ( much less nice than when I went to before as a family - but then never had a great Christmas meal anywhere!), most people enjoyed it and thought it nice Attentive (but young!) staff and good atmosphere

My wife and I love the Pomeroy and the reason we chose it to celebrate both my wifes and my youngest daughters birthday. The Ego is always consistent on delivering great service, quality of food and overall experience, along with a good cocktail or two. This time was no different, all the staff helped make the occasion memorable, however a big shout out to Roberto, nothing was too much, his service was 1st class (an understatement) as I cannot praise his service and professionalism enough. The food was top notch as always and the salted caramel martini muat remain on the menu, it is amazing and our go to cocktail. Thanks again team for making it a very memorable occasion.

Ladies lunch very good All around we chose from pre fix lunch menu lovely food all around just the vegs need cooking a little longer it was the same for Sunday lunch I know trend is was Al dented veg but sometimes its practically raw veg and you can't cut it shame for a minute Or two more ...but would definitely go back and I do And to be sure book

Unfortunately we had ordered our food before we realised that it was freezing in the area that we were sitting in ! We complained but we were told that there were overhead heaters that had been on since the morning! The heaters were totally inadequate! We noticed everyone around us was also wearing their coats as well! They should have closed this section of the restaurant down, as it was such uncomfortable experience & we all vowed we would not back to this restaurant again!

Will - table service was professional & welcoming. Always food is quality ingredients cooked perfectly. Wine bit expensive, recommend NZ Sauv.Blanc. The environment always good, clean and all staff very welcoming and first class customer service. Im a regular diner... reliable good food & service every time. 4th local est.tried Date (sticky toffee pudding) this 1st you can actually taste dates. Perfect portion and light. The pork belly was soo flavoursome. Portions are good.

To start I had the calamari, I found the batter a little oilily and the squid a bit bland. To follow I had the chicken supreme, the chicken was slightly over, but the chicken skin nicely caramelized and the pulses enjoyable. To finish I had the lemon tart and although not on the menu our waiter was able to rustle up a glass of sultans to wash it down.

Regular visitor and never been disappointed. Alex and his team are always welcoming and attentive. Quality food and drink choices and good value for money.

Lunch today. Great food and service. Good value with the 20% voucher. Will visit again although 20 miles from Thame!

I have multiple food intolerances. The waiter tried his best to accommodate this, giving me different options. They have a Gluten Free Menu - very unusual!!

We came for our work Christmas meal (12 of us) for the second year in a row. We couldn't fault the Christmas menu, pre order, food and service on the day. The food looked and tasted great and always a warm welcome from the staff. Good job everyone, keep it up 👍 We are in the catering service being a golf club, so we appreciate the hard work put in by all.

We visited for the 1st time a week or so ago by recommendation . We found it very amenable, good atmosphere and we were served very well by Anya . In fact we enjoyed it enough to book again.

Food was very good and the staff are very friendly. In the current financial climate it is great to receive offers but would appreciate these to be extended to weekends as it’s difficult for myself to dine during the week due to early morning work commitments.

This a great pub/restaurant clean and doesn't smell like a pub. The food is reasonably priced and tastes good. The portions are great value for money.

Food was delightful, timed excellently between courses for allowing children to eat at a slower pace. The atmosphere was brilliant and even out in the side extension or glazed extension we were pleasantly warm.

I came to Ego at Pomeroy for the first time yesterday ( Sunday 20th October) for my 35th Birthday and I had wished I hadn’t if I’m quite honest. I booked the table of 4 after a recommendation for 8pm. I first rang a head on the evening because I was worried I was going to be a tiny bit late as I am disabled and walk with a cain and my mother also walks with a cain. I was then told on the phone by a lady who spoke very fast that I couldn’t come after 8.30 as the kitchen would be closed which I thought was strange as when I booked I could have actually book past 8.30 but I assumed that the team wanted to get out early so I rushed my family to get there on time. When we arrived at 8.03 were half greeted at the bar and asked to wait at the hosting station but it was quite evident that the staff were sniggering and smirking and look like they didn’t want to greet us. The part of the restaurant that we sat in, was busy and looked like there was only the one server working the restaurant. Although we were told the kitchen was due to close at 8.30 our order was taking just before 9pm. Nearly everything was available except when my partner ordered the STONEBAKED GARLIC PIZZA BREAD with 1/2 MOZZARELLA & 1/2 TOMATO which was on the menu but he was told it couldn’t be done even though he could have had either topping by themselves, it seemed as if the chefs just couldn’t be bothered. Once the food came it, we will admit it was nice the pizza was slightly overcooked but the rest was good. The only saving grace was that our server Georgia was very nice and had to pass on the messages from either the kitchen or the manager who I never saw once on floor. Disappointing to say the least.

Server Suzie very charming welcome, polite, quick & efficient. Food arrived good time freshly prepared. A-la-carte portions v.g. 40% mains as Members promo week so avg. main £19 = £11 Chicken with truffle gnocci very tasty and filling Cod was tasty but sauce a bit thin and bland. Sticky toffee pudding was light sponge with mild taste of dates. Vanilla icecream is quality delicious. Atmosphere relaxed. It was full but with gentle buzz of conversation. Very civilised. Im a regular and for good reason. Arrived 12.15 before rush at 12.30.. folk were then queuing to get in. Left at 2.30pm. Everything/all courses went at the right pace. Recommended

Soup was so spicy with black pepper I could not eat but the Fish & Chips were good. There were 3 couples and restaurants was rather noisy so difficult to visit. If the weather is good sit outside.

Steak night - mine ok daughters inedible so sent back for more cooking - still tough and gristle. Told waiter - no-one cared to even acknowledge from management. I go often at lunchtime - don’t think I will go back. Waiter was good but nothing he could do. This is why places lose business - bill was still quite big for what we had to be honest - steak night a bit of a joke unless you have the rubbish rump which wasn’t great.

Me and my bestie went there for lunch .it was lovely food and great staff, always someone there to serve you. Please bring back the mussels in white wine sauce they were to die for

An amazing fund. Staff very warm and friendly. Very welcoming. There was an outside eating area which looked really nice (weather permitting). Decent parking. Dogs were made welcome in the bar area. Another bonus was the amount of choice made available on a full menu for Vegans.

This was my 5th visit to The Pomeroy and it didn’t disappoint! Excellent food and service, as always. There was live music too, provided by a very talented duo. A most enjoyable evening. I’ll be back again - soon!

I have been a regular customer snd celebrated my mother's 90th birthday here with afternoon tea. My disappointment is that I often received promotions with discounts attached, one being my birthday but after booking for this; found that upon arrival the discount was unclear and only applied to the the three course Al a Cart menu. Disappointing as we was keen to have a two course Sunday roast and received no discount whatsoever. Would probably book elsewhere in the future.

Wonderfull staff good food what more do you need

Second visit to Ego. Once again great food, great service and great value for money. This time we wanted a lighter meal for lunch. A good lunch menu with the same dishes, only with smaller portions. Will definitely be returning.

The food was very good , all of us really enjoyed it. The drinks as well did not disappoint. The only comment was that it was difficult to get the waitress attention at times. Sometimes they were just talking to each other and not paying attention to the customers, however they were very polite and accommodating .

£30 for fillet steak and fries, asked for them to strain the thousands of unnecessary peppercorns out of the peppercorn sauce, apparently this request was ridiculous and he asked me do I know what I'm asking? Said no before even asking the kitchen if this request is possible. Cocktails are great, atmosphere is great however other than that, not impressed. Was absolutely disgusted with Anya's attitude, by the time by steak came it was completely overcooked despite already being served a medium steak when I asked for medium rare.

Polite attentive good service. I was only single table in full house for 2-course £20 Sunday lunch. V.smooth tasty Pate starter was a good choice. CHICKEN LIVER & ROSEMARY PÂTÉClarified butter & pink peppercorns, toasted bread & spiced plum chutney PAN-ROASTED PORK FILLETWrapped in Serrano ham, served with pork, sage & onion stuffing and apple sauce Pork fillet in parma ham filling. Fluffy roast potatoes. Beans a bit al dente for me. Carrots sweet. Parsnips id usually love had odd taste? so didnt eat. Yorkshire pudding perfect. A decent value meal. Not best to-date but 1 near miss out of 15 visits is a good record. I definitely recommed. A la carte menu excellent Sea Bass amongst other good options.

Driving past decided to.pop in for Monday lunch. They have a wonderful set menu for Mondays - food was outstanding, service great. Really worth the visit. We will we back. Loved every moment of our lunch and outing.

Our party of 18 was very well looked after by the team at the Pomeroy for a 40th birthday meal. The restaurant caters excellently for kids and was diligent with the various dietary restrictions amongst the group. Food was very good and service excellent despite the large group size. Won’t go back the food was dreadful

Declan was delightful. He was very professional without being overbearing took care to ensure we had everything and made one or two helpful food suggestions. Lovely manner and very pleasant to speak to. He should go far.

It was a last minute booking for 2 but the online booking system was really easy and we received a warm welcome on arrival. The ‘conservatory’ area is the best - light and airy with plenty of space between tables. On our visit the service was very quick and waiting staff were helpful and pleasant - plenty of smiles! The food was excellent and we got a good deal with the vouchers (which regularly arrive in my inbox). The drinks and an extra dessert meant we paid £25 each for a really good meal and evening out. Highly recommended!

Next time if we are on our own (2) we would ask for a quieter table if it was busy

Great food and service. Vegetarian Paella was worth the wait. Noticed, there were quite a few flies, but living locally I know this is an issue for other businesses and NOT related to cleanliness

the manager was v helpful, so i have to be fair. my b.d. invitation accompanied by my husband. i am a vegan. my soup was lukewarm, returned to be reheated and was then fine. the courgette and corn fritters, inedible . lukewarm and because fried, were cloying and unpleasant . i asked for broccoli , beans and chips instead , which were good. we did not have dessert . the vegan menu is fairly basic. i tried the veg risotto previously , but that was terrible. asked if there was a vegetable shortage , as it consisted of rice and the odd dot of a vegetable . my husband had soup and steak, which we’re fine. the bread accompaniment to soup is standard and untoasted. no choice as to white, brown or sourdough. we were given butter for the bread, mine was not was not vegan and quickly removed

We all had roast and sadly wasn't good. Beef was chewy, pork was hard, chicken was good, yorkshire pud like cardboard and veg virtually inedible. Gin and rhubarb crumble was excellent

There is only 2disabled parking bays, both were used so no-where for me to park! As my husband was driving, he found a slightly wider bay - I would have left! I enjoyed my meal - Morrocan Fafelel-lovely. The other guests thought the food was OK (there was nothing wrong, they just didnt enjoy it as much); the service was great. There is a disabled toilet here too. I have also eaten @Ego at the Flying Fox,Woburn. Loved it too!

I had the paella which I had for the first time. I felt that it had been reheated because it was completely stuck to the base of the dish and also congealed. I have never had any reason to complain about the food before. I visit this restaurant frequently..
