Meal was ok but nothing fantastic, plates were stone cold, don't think we will bother again.

Love Ego’s the food, the atmosphere the staff are all 5star.

Asked for well-done fillet steak, with no pink meat and got a steak which had lots of pink meat inside, even though this was the thinnest of the two steaks that we had (was with my partner). Waitress apologised and gave us money off, but this isn’t the reason for the low star, the chef just couldn’t follow direction on what we wanted, which spoiled the meal out. Also, money was too much for the size of the meal. Gin was as nice though !

1st time dining at Ego at The Hollybush for our silver wedding anniversary and we loved it!! the food was amazing, service was quick and the staff were helpful, friendly & polite. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you for a great evening.

Really nice food, has a good offer on which made it not too expensive. Lovely play area for the kids and the staff where friendly.

Bit of a let down for birthday celebrations, starters were great however the mains were forgotten about so after waiting an hour we asked where our food was, another 10 minutes later our food arrived clearly rushed with anemic chips and burnt onion rings, felt like a waste considering the price.

This visit just wasn't as good as what I usually get there.

What has happened to this place? We went in as a family for tea and felt like we had walked into a youth club. At 6pm the whole bar area (where we were asked to wait) was full of early 20s people swearing and being generally rude. Hulse i understand this in a bar, it’s not acceptable in a high end family restaurant. We moved tables but yet more young groups entered and sat close to us, still being loud and doing nothing but swear. Warning…. Stay away anyone with kids, they let anyone in other no control. Definitely not a nice nvionment for families

Food was good and generous in portion sizes. Chloe our waiter was attentive and friendly. Really nice atmosphere and although busy waiting time for food was good. We opted for the two courses & bottle of wine for two for £40. Excellent value. I had the mixed paella which was very tasty and my partner the duo of pork which was very good.

Not very good food for the price my husband had a ribeye steak which he said was tough my father had a steak to which was the same I had the piallea which was like much and hardly contained any sea food in it won't be going back

We had an excellent evening, and the food was top notch, Father had a steak with he throughly enjoyed. This is a first for him as there's always something to question when he has a steak.

Went for lunch on a bank holiday Monday. Always have a great time here, service was good, a little slow when it wasn't mega busy, I imagine they had less staff due to the bank holiday. However, apart from the speed, the service good, very friendly and helpful. Food was so tasty! I had the calamari and the fillet steak. Calamari was flavourful and crispy, and the steak was perfectly cooked. The menu is very strong, offering a wide range of food and mediterranean flavours. Make sure to check out the offers and deals, the pric fixe menu and lunch menus are great value, but the deals are even better. For example, the Monday offer (when we went) was any 2 courses on the a la catre menu for £20(.some pennie, can't remember) and you could add a bottle for £10. All in all, I love Ego, it's always my go-to for last minute food out, events with family and friends and even dining solo.

The food was beautiful and service was great! I had the soup of the day which was tomato and basil and it was really tasty. We both had the duo of pork which was both very filling as well as a very generous helping. The flavour was lovely and very enjoyable. Thank you to the ego staff for reaching out and giving us a lovely lunch. Thank you again)*** I decided to take my wife to ego for her birthday treat with her mother and father. I have to say it was the worst meal we have all had in years anywhere. From the start, I had the carrot and coriander soup and it was completely tasteless and bland. Myself, my father in law and my wife had the ribeye and rump steaks. We requested medium rare and the steak came well done. The steaks were disgusting, very chewy and gristly. We ordered peppercorn sauce and when it came there was no more than a desert spoon worth of sauce in the pots which is disgusting when it's extra. The table we were sitting next to also had a terrible experience and in fact the old man said to the waitress that he was 91years old and it's the worst meal he's ever had! We complained about the steaks and she just said oh OK. Sorry. We decided to try desert as my wife had a deal to have three courses. Myself and my father in law had the apple pie and it was awful. The apple was raw, the pastry was soggy and under cooked and the custard was luke warm. They took the pies off the bill but after all this the bill was well over 137pounds for steaks we could not eat! What a waste of money time and I'm never going to eat here again.

Great service from their staff, the food is very good especially the desserts, the apple and cinnamon pie is excellent. Busy atmosphere but not horribly noisy. I'd up my score to five if the wine list was more extensive and there was a better choice of whiskies. Nonetheless I had a very enjoyable dinner and I'd visit here again.

Its got a quiet atmosphere, ideal for a group chat. Welcoming, plenty of parking, just off the a53 so no traffic noise. The service was good and just nice

Could not understand why 15% service charge was added. No adequate explanation was given. Could not understand the bill. Would not give us three separate bills for party of 7. One meal was for a birthday which should have been free not sure if it was.

Went with grandson for a coffee 7.50 for latte and a tiny carton of juice latte was just warm struggled with buggy opening doors and trying to carry drinks not at all helpful will not be going back.

Starter lovely but small. Sunday roast chicken was over cooked and dry and roast potatoes very hard and unpleasant. Generally a small portion and would not revisit for this. Staff were fine but door kept being left open and was a really cold breeze. I have ate here before and always been better than this.

The food was well cooked. The service was good though I was only given a couple of roast potatoes on my plate and there didn't seem to be a lot of veg there. The Yorkshire pud was probably a little overcooked and was probably left in the oven too long. I had a meat trio for Sunday lunch. The pork was great, the chicken was ok as was the lamb. On balance I would say that this restaurant is better than average.

Had a lovely meal, with great and friendly service but our only complaint would be to see the kitchen staff or chefs in the open kitchen constantly eating in the food prep area… looked like chocolate MnM’s looked very unprofessional

service and cocktails are great. as a place for food I'm afraid its lacked the three times I've been. It's still got potential and wouldn't be against going back if they shorten the menu and choose if Ego is a Spanish, Greek or Italian restaurant.

Food ok , but menu needs changes, drinks to expensive,....

Overall a disappointing experience. A family birthday meal using one of the online vouchers which was almost useless (read the t's & c's). We were given a wrong order although the staff offered to swap it but we didn't want to have to wait an extra 20 mins so we just accepted it. Could not taste any alcohol in the cocktails. And avoid the sharing platter, £18 with barely enough poor quality food for 1. A poor experience.

We had no wake fo our mum due to family fueds,so myself and my family, my sister and her family and my brother and his family and 3 very close riends and partners went to ego ,so 24 of us ,what an amazing time we had,service was fab,ae all got our meals together, the children meals came out first.drunk service great ,atmosphere lovely,just torally fabulous food and very attentive staff,they did not no it was a funeral get together, do there was no reaso n to treat us any different, but boy they were amazing staff and fantastic food,defo recommend egos ..thankyou to all the staff..

First time here went as Mother’s Day present for my wife from her son. Very impressed lovely surroundings very polite helpful staff and lovely food and very quick service even though they were very busy. Steak cooked to perfection and very tasty compliments to the chef.

Went for half price meal..had better rib eye steak left half as it was tough...i think £32.95 for a bottle of Sauvignon is excessive and £2.50 for soda water is an absolute crime !!! Wont rush back

Expensive menu and the portion sizes required small. We ordered the junior menu for a an older child and was quite shocked with how small the portion was. Ambience was good and service from one of the waiters was very good

Food was good.. for a set menu, my belly pork was burnt.. my partner's steak was nice. Was really let down by the staffs manners. Had two waitresses taking our order and forgetting what we had ordered and kept coming to the table to check, just felt really unorganized and it wasn't too busy. Finishing up our pudding, staff were running round whipping eachother with tea towels. Staff shouting, laughing, just completely messing about and we we're not close to finishing our meal. Ruined out date night to be honest. Unprofessional behaviour. Will not be returning.. shame as the actual place is nice.

Absolutely superb food and service as always. It was a bit hot in the conservatory but the staff turned the heat down very efficiently. Very busy at the weekend at night so book if possible.

Very nice food. Excellent service. Touch pricey but but worth it. Large car park, children are welcome and can even create their own pizza which is then taken away and cooked for them. Nearby canal gives option for pre or post meal walks.

Loved it, we took my parents out for me dads birthday and a Tuesday steak night. Great meal and atmosphere I would recommend.

Food can be lovely but unfortunately inconsistent. I have had my best and worst steak and calamari from here, perhaps dependant on the chef.

We love the food here & this is the 2nd year running we have booked for the Christmas menu. We were very disappointed last year that our table did not have any crackers or Christmas decorations. This year when I rang to book for the evening of 18th December I asked for our table to have Christmas crackers & was told only tables of 8 or over had them !! Perhaps tables of 8 pay more per head than tables of 4 🤔. So to get in the Christmas spirit we took our own crackers & Christmas serviettes, imagine my surprise to receive a photo from a friend dining with you tonight of there table for 4 decorated with Christmas crackers. It's the little things that make or spoil a dining experience.

First time visiting here and were very satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere. Starters arrived promptly after ordering and then the mains arrived, well presented and delicious. One of the best steaks I've had. A bit of a delay between mains and desert but this gave the mains chance to go down. Staff seemed efficient despite being busy and the atmosphere was relaxed. Food competitively priced and value for money. Will be returning.

Very disappointed, with the food quality and the place in general. Went for a meal with my wife as it has been recommended. When we got there, we were welcomed and taken to our table, located in the conservatory. It was very cold outside, but I never expected to experience cold inside the restaurant. We were seated on the window by the door, we only stayed there a couple of minutes to start to feel the cold coming through the glass towards our legs. I immediately asked to be moved, luckily we got a table inside but by the door on the conservatory. It was better but we still could feel the cold coming from the conservatory, specially when customers would go outside for a cigarette and that was a constant. At times I felt that we were eating outside – other people complained about the same issue. We ordered bread and olives as a starter, Vegan Paella for me and Sea Bass for my wife. Paella was a risotto with vegetables with no flavour and Sea Bass had no presentation whatsoever, and my wife didn’t like it at all, very blend. The place looked like it was struggling with staff, the waitresses were running around, and we could feel that they were under pressure. The meal for 2 was £82, I hope you pay well you’re staff with the money you rip you’re customers off – Do not recommend this restaurant, way to expensive for the poor quality of food and service.

Lunch with friends, (Sun lunch menu) The food and service was excellent Fabulous roast meals and the Greek salad with additional chicken was very good. Creme Brulee and Sicilian lemon tart were delicious. Very reasonably priced, top quality ingredients, polished and attentive service from staff. Will most definitely return! Thank you Ego!

We came for an Afternoon Tea for a treat for my mother's birthday . We have been to many Afternoon Teas but we have to say that this was one of the most disappointing ones that we have experienced. We went for a drink at the bar first and had to wait about 10 minutes to get served as there was only 1 member of bar staff. He did apologise for the wait and was very pleasant. The fishcake and the portions of cakes were very small( but they were tasty. ) There were no saucers for the cups or teaspoons . We did express that we were not satisfied with the portions of the food which was fed back to the Manager who said that there was nothing that could be done about it. It was certainly not worth £15.95 each and I would not recommend to others to visit here despite the venue being a nice environment.

I went here for a nice meal with my fiancée only to be verbally abused and threatened by some Stone Island wearing thugs all because management didn't assist a waitress at all when she was having a hard time with the 6 aggressive individuals. I don't care how busy the restaurant is, an incident like that need to be handled immediately and it wasn't. 3 of the guys even ended up staying. They should have all been shown the door. The whole event completely ruined our evening and there are far too many other nice restaurants nearby for me to ever bother with this one again. The food was ok at best anyway. Update: After reading the response to my review I called the manager and in short I was told that in the 9 years that she's worked there, troublesome customers aren't uncommon and that because they are an all female management team, there is little to nothing they can do to resolve these situations other than to ask people to leave. I suggested that they are able to call the police if they have troublesome customers that they don't feel comfortable dealing with - her response to that was that if ever they've called the police in the past it takes too long for them to arrive. The attitude of this establishment is ridiculous and I strongly advice everyone to avoid this place.

Waited long time for food ,room not very warm

Food is fantastic here. The service is really good too. I've four starred the atmosphere as its a restaurant not a pub, but it gives off a great friendly vibe while you're in there both for groups or an intimate occasion.

We go there a lot, but tonight was 😞, the waitress chloe let us for ages to pay the bill, which was over £200, she was to busy talking to the other staff members. We had to wait for the drinks.

A favourite haunt that fell short on this occasion. Lovely venue. Went for Monday Madness on a day off. This menu was not volunteered. Had to ask for it. Very few staff about. Order 1 starter & a bottle of wine, after 15/20 mins asked if our order had gone in as not even wine arrived. Starter lovely. My medium rare Ribeye had a good bark but was still mooing inside! My husband's chicken supreme said with new potatoes but came with mash which absorbed the sauce. It was still nice. Shared a Sticky Toffee pudding. Yummy. Again was given menus but it was approx 15/20 mins before we could beckon a staff member to order. The Tempranillo said £19.95 on the cardboard menu but was billed at £22.95 which is correct to online. Still good value at £10 off but at one point we couldn't see any staff, even behind the kitchen!

Pizza was nice, friendly staff nice food nice place to eat

Amazing to find this restaurant in a tiny village. Lovely food and plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. However I would like to suggest that when the waiter brings the menus thry also bring the vegan 1 and offer it at the same time as it would be easier to pick out the vegan dishes. The prices are really good too I was expecting the bill to be much higher . The Staff are excellent ,all in all a great place .

Gorgeous food! Amazing place to visit!

Meal was of poor quality, hard carrots and parsnips, burnt Yorkshire pudding and forgot multiple items throughout the meal. The staff were rude and generally poor especially the manager. We tried to use our Sunday dinner experience for two voucher (two free 3 course meals) however we were told it was only for £43.90 when the three courses came to more than this. I wouldn’t have minded although I still thought this was in very poor taste. The awful meal compounded this as well as the disrespect from staff and management. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, plenty of cheaper better alternatives with a much more friendly atmosphere.
