Best chippy around has been for years

Very nice fish and chips at a reasonable price. Presented in a strong and durable cardboard box. Makes for quicker eating and less waste. Best fish and chips in South Birmingham.

Ordered chicken kebab meat and mixed kebab meat and chips and fish and chips. Done fish and chips first then told didn't have any chicken meat. Should have been told before as it was first thing I ordered. As fish and chips already done had to have donner meat on own. Only do small or large so had large. Wasn't large and cost over 6 pounds. Not worth it. Opened up and must have been last few chips as weren't best looking. Kebab meat was cold probably from the amount of mayo put on it as was drenched. More staff than customers who just chatting amongst themselves. Not a good experience. Shame really as used to be nice.

I have only been here once and ordered 3 cod and chips. The cod was lovely and hot and the chips were very nice. Will definitely go back again.

Chips were reheated and like cardboard, mushy peas cold, plaice not white and didnt taste freshly cooked although it was a telephone order. Disappointing when chips were thrown away. Will not visit again

I’ve used this chip shop for years and have always rated the food very highly however over the last few months the food hasn’t been the best and the portion sizes have reduced drastically. The kebabs have very little meat in them now compared to previously. Still tastes ok but not worth the price for the amount of meat you get.

Lady serving has a bad attitude before i even asked for my food so when i didn't tell her the exact portion size i wanted she thought it was okay to talk down to me like im a child and then wondered why i was confrontational. Food is ok

I ordered fish and chips with curry sauce the chips were very dry and like carbord I couldent even eat them I had to chuck them away I wouldent mind but paid 9 pound odd for my meal and all I eaten of it was my fish then I went again for my daughter today and they were the same my granson started chocking on them and wouldent eat them and neather did me or my daughter don't know what's happend up there as its normally nice food I have always gone there they must of changed the potatos or something but I will defo not be going there again as its just a waist of money as no one in my house eats the food from there now witch is very sad as this was my local

I got a medium bag of chips & they were like cardboard my son couldn’t even eat them he was constantly chocking on them. This chippy is going down hill it’s not the first time I’ve got food from here & it’s been like this

Very unhappy to order £17.00 of food for collection, I was there a few minutes ahead of time to find meal already on counter, very unhappy to get home 3minutes later and everything is just warm, some chips are cold. Waste of money when it's a treat......

I want to file a complaint. Today I went to the restaurant and was treated with racism by the girl inside. I have already informed the police and the matter will be dealt with through them. The girl treated me in a very specific and psychologically harmful way only because I am wearing the hejab and I believe this is the main reason. The girl gave me food covered in paper. She put it in a very humiliating way for me in front of the rest of the customers, and when I asked her about the bag she looked at me in a very humiliating way. I cannot forget her humiliating look, which affected me in a very negative way until now. Now I want to know if it is normal for food to be served respectfully to customers, and which way I am in this humiliating way. She wanted me to walk with food wrapped in paper in my hands!!!!!!!!

Didn't go in, but my mum did and myself over the last 3 decades, whenever I'm in the area visiting my grandparents, it's always a chippy from Egg Hill. The chips are always piping hot, the battered sausage lovely and crispy and my Mum gets to relive her childhood by having a proper scallop (potato fritter to the non-west midlanders). In short; nom nom nom

I return to this chippy almost weekly as it serves excellent fish with good chips and a very tasty southern fried chicken

Food was nice enough and prices are better than most other chip shops in South West Brum and staff seem polite enough. Had to drop a star however due to going in to order southern fried chicken and chips only to be told they only serve that at night!!! Which is ludicrous, as all other chip shops serve it all day! Southern fried chicken can be ate at any time of day lol. I suggest this chippy changes this silly rule. Silly rule aside it's a decent chippy.

Both the fish and chips 10/10 have no complaints about the taste or the service really very nice and polite staff and a very clean chippy but menu said £6.50 and I was charged 8.50 I think maybe because I paid off card but wasn't made aware of why which is only reason for 4 stars

Very nice food, hadn't got much choice left, it was a bit late in the afternoon, but what was left was really good. Sausage and chips with curry sauce, yummy.

We used this place for over 20 years, my last few visits resulted in bad food. Unfortunately, again my latest visit was extremely disappointing. The quality of food became an issue years ago & its just as bad now. My chips, the only thing I went in for, were completely inedible!!! I feel sorry for those in the immediate area, as Frankley beeches chippy is now also grim. I highly recommend Loppys on Adams Hill.

Really dry chips no taste to them

The fish and chips from here have always been great, but the last couple of times we have used them the chips in particular have been pretty poor. They have been dry and tasteless, and we threw most of them away. It's such a shame, not sure what they have changed, but it's definitely not for the better.

Twice I've arrived at 9pm as Google says open till 10pm and it's closed absolute joke

Why have a closing time if you regularly close half hour before it

We have used this chip shop for years and sorry to say, it has gone downhill. They rush to get the chips out so under cooked. Think they might have changed their potato supplier as chips taste really bland. Would much rather wait an extra couple of minutes until chips are cooked and golden brown.

Lovely chip shop. I was shocked to pay £19.10 for fish and chips twice. Fish was £6.50 each what was acceptable £13. The £6.10 for the few chips in the box and a curry sauce was a bit of a joke to be fair

All good...food tasty, quick service

We have used this F & C shop frequently over the last few years but after tonights experience will think again in future! Fish was dry and almost certainly re-heated as were the rock solid chips! Steak and kidney pie had been microwaved as there was an empty,glass fronted hot display cabinet. Yes it was mid-evening but at over £10 for unedible food it's extracting the urine! Finally to complete the experience the young, mannerless girl serving shortchanged me and when I pointed out the discrepancy was treated to a cold stare with no hint of an apology!

Every time iv gone here the cod and chips has been great but today I don't know what they have done but the batter on the fish was terribly bad it was just thick and claggy

Lovely plaice and chips ,in fact I'd just come back from Cornwall and it easily equalled the best fish meals I'd had down there. And the Cornwallians certainly know their fish. plus staff are polite and always smiling........

Great service, lovely food, I had a really tasty doner meat and chips with salad. I ordered a scallop also so it was enough to share with my friend. I ordered on click and collect online which was really straight forward and the food was ready in 20 minutes from ordering. Always good service and lovely, tasty food.

Consistently delicious food, very good. Collection of pre-paid orders could be organised a bit better. You stand in a separate queue outside but walk ups seem to take priority.

Best chippy in the area. 1 improvement to suggest would be easier collection of online orders, it's meant to be quicker but you end up in the queue out the door like everyone who turns up to order, so we've given up doing that now.

This is one of those chips shops that serve chips in a box. It is rare these days to fine great chips and great fish. I you like Haddock order it and wait. It so fresh and consistent in taste and texture. Soft crispy and breaks of in chunks. Even the salt is good it seems as if they don't put enough on but the taste tells you otherwise. Very good. The cod is nice also but there days where it has been better ( not saying there are bad days where the fish is terrible only that it is slightly of the perfection I'm used too from Egghill Fish Barr
