Read the review byBrian M. There is a small cafe at the station which provides snacks, access by way of the car park on the main road side. They are planning to do Sunday lunches and evening events. Worth a visit to see how it is going. The seating is at present on picknic tables inside which might not be suitable for some. Hopefully they will follow the Devon tradition of good food and value for money. My experience so far is that they are on the right tracks!

This restaurant is now, sadly, closed. The Garden Centre is also closed. A new, unrelated, cafe has just opened nearby - the Eggesford Crossing Cafe, adjacent to the station.

We arrived and were very pleased to see a wheelchair waiting for my husband to use. We were made welcome and we (4 of us) all ordered different meals but they all came together and were very hot. Excellent! Will certainly go there again when in the area. After lunch we spent a happy half hour in the Garden Centre, very relaxing.

The food never disappoints and the service is very efficient. Main Portions are very good value as are the deserts. The salad bar, if chosen, provides a good variety of different ‘salads’. Worth booking on a weekend lunchtime. Dogs are allowed in the garden section and conservatory but not the main restaurant.

We live in North Devon and have frequented the garden centre often. We especially love sitting outside of the restaurant on a sunny day having a nice cuppa and a toasted tea cake or scone feeding the friendly birds that come to the table. The staff too are always friendly and polite. The only downside to our visits is negotiating the many deep ruts and potholes on the road that climbs up to the car park hence the four stars.

Decided to go out for Sunday lunch, pre booked as busy. Both had roast beef, Yorkshire pud and potatoes plus plenty of veg. Service was excellent despite all the tables being full. Ordered desert - were advise of a short delay but that was fine. Was worth the wait, treacle tart was delicious.

We arrived tired after a long walk looking for a naughty treat. Pleased to report the Devonshire apple slice and the lemon and lime ginger crunch were both excellent served with a delicious local ice cream. Everything seems to be homemade to the highest standard. The staff were very friendly indeed. A great place for a tasty treat or a full meal, impressed.

We enjoyed our lunch today at Eggesfird Garden Centre which is always a favourit location of ours. The steak pie was truly outstanding and the vegetables cooked to perfection. If I had one slight gripe it would be that the staff did not take away our finished main course plates and they remained on the table throughout the dessert course until we paid our bill. It may have been because the restaurant was a little busy. The food however was good and the location wonderful. We will be back!

Have visited Eggesford Garden Centre many times and have never been disappointed. However, visited today, early p.m., and although the restaurant appeared to be up to its usual standard, the rest of the centre was somewhat 'tired'. The display of plants was limited and at least half of the area was not being utilised. The usual friendly greeting was missing, there was no one manning the till and apart from the restaurant staff we were not acknowledged even once. We hope the business is not being run down, prior to be taken over. Hopefully, it is undergoing a pre-Christmas revamp.

We live locally to Eggesford Gardens, one highlight of Sunday was to often visit the restuarant for Sunday lunch. Two out of our party of four have to have gluten free, the separate 'no gluten menu' has been wonderful. A joy to enjoy pies and quiches again along with gluten free gravy. But alas this is no longer! The chef has decided not to offer the No Gluten Menu on Sundays - as it is 'too busy'. The previous chef made such an effort.... A HUGE disappointment - again gluten free treated as an inconvenience... for most there is no option other than to eat GF! Whilst there are a few things available on the main menu that are GF, they would not suit everyones tastes & often are options that we would cook at home or eat elsewhere. We have not returned to Eggesford Gardens Restuarant since then and will not return until we can be sure to have the No Gluten Menu options available every day of the week. Speak with your feet - if you are treated as an inconvenience when have to follow a special diet, why return?! Buy a GF meal somewhere where your custom is appreciated.

Very nice gardens to sit in and have lunch. Lovely toasted ham sandwich and huge prawn baguette. Spoilt by parents letting two boys kick a football around, breaking flowers as the ball landed on beds, and needing to collect the ball from our feet while we were in the middle of eating. Could've caused injury to some of the less able visitors and damage to glass and crockery. Sadly could have been stopped by the management.

Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.
