Great service, ambience and food. The only problem Adana kebab was a bit over salty! But will go there again.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ege Turkish Restaurant in Purley, and I must say it was a wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly service. Haci the owner was lovely, food was stunning the flavours immaculate have not had such amazing Turkish food in a long time. You can tell the food is cooked with love and family recipes.

Really commendable! Went with my wife and parents. My parents especially have a lot of Turkish food and they are well impressed. Nice restaurant, good food, generous portions, nice atmosphere, couldn't really have had more for the expectations.

Thought I'd be spontaneous (for once) while already out & try this spot for some dinner. Despite it being empty upon arrived, decided not to turn away & just give it a go; afterall, its near impossible to go wrong with Turkish cuisine right! However, i was totally wrong. Long story short, ordered lamb kofte amongst other things & to my surprise it had bone pieces or some sort of gristle pieces laced all in it. Thanks to this, i am now left with a chipped/cracked tooth. Told the lady upon leaving & still had to pay full price. This problem will now cost me an additional bill to fork out for; now that I have to schedule a dentist appointment ASAP. 😠😑 Regret decision made expeditiously 👎🏽

Wish I could give half a star. Luke warm dinner had to be reheated. Warm dessert when should have been cold and Luke warm mint tea that wouldn’t brew. Argumentative staff.

It was my first experience, staff was lovely,food did not took long and it was very nice and service was amazing.. I would recommend this place if u want to try Turkish food , portions were generous. Would visit again.

The food was amazing, I really loved the starter, sea bees and the desert. It was very difficult to finish the entire meal as the quantity was way better. This was my first experience in a Turkish restaurant and the waitress guided us. Will be coming again

The food here is absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced (compared to other places in the surrounding areas). Decent portion sizes and very tasty. Couldn’t recommend this place any more! Never disappoints!

Amazing food and service, a great place for families.

Ordered a mixed shish . Portions were very small considering the price . £16.95 for what was a scoop of rice , 4 chicken cubes and a kofte Adana . The salad was 95% lettuce with a cucumber slice and a tomato slice with some Salad cream . Infact the salad was more a garnish wasn’t a salad at all . The meat was ok , lacking in flavour but seemed fresh . They charge for Turkish tea as well (£2.75) and also put on an added service charge . Basket of stale bread that wasn’t great which was forgotten about till I asked . Overall , poor experience and very expensive for portions given . Wouldn’t recommend . Read good reviews before going to this place , which I’m always skeptical of. This is an honest review . The main criticism is the size of the portions / price ratio . I get a much better deal at Nando’s and it tastes better .

An early dinner at this lovely little restaurant, the food was all cooked freshly to order. The chicken & lamb kebabs that both my friend & I really enjoyed our meal. A clean, tidy and modern restaurant. Lovely place.

Went for lunch today with my friend and decided to go here. Very nice Mixed Grill which we were both impressed with and reasonably priced. The beer was very nice and the lady who served us was very friendly! Would definitely come here again!

Ate here with my partner as we wanted to try a local Turkish restaurant. Service was very friendly, with large portsizes and very well priced. The liver starter was fantastic and the main course of mixed skewered kebabs and laid chops was really tasty and cooked perfectly. I've only marked them down one star as the bread in a basket was pretty chewy and not very tasty, and bland, and had no dip for it so just a small point. Overall we would go back as enjoyed all the rest!

Third time we've been here as a family. The food is absolutely amazing. Reasonably priced with large portions. Will keep coming back.

Took my family here for a evening meal. I ordered the griller chicken wings meal. When the meal arrived I was surprised to find that they served me with five half wings and some try rice and salad. That particular dish cost £18. All of the meals were small, tasteless and very expensive. Wouldn't recommend at all

Excellent food on a humid Sunday afternoon. We were accompanied by a large family group in celebration mode... which the staff dealt with perfectly. Food was excellent... especially the swordfish.

A hidden gem in Purley. Always passed this place but finally went in for lunch and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, and the service was great. Humus was the best I've had!

Had a meal with my son, each had a very small hunous and a kebab dish each, 2 cokes a d 2 beers, £77! Quite possibly the most overpriced meal I've had in a long time, when I asked to have another look at the receipt I was treated appalingly, will never go back to this place

I am writing this review after a few months, but I hope to go again soon! The interior is very beautiful, nice music, food and customer service. The food is extremely fresh and flavourful. I definitely recommend coming here as it is a amazing place in Purley to have dinner!

Had a lovely dinner here this evening, the food was excellent, the service was fast and the lady that served us was friendly. Really recommend the calamari! The restaurant was well designed and comfortably furnished. We'll be back!

Lovely place, staff are very friendly and helpful. Standard delicious Turkish food, but sadly no exceptional dishes that stand the restaurant apart from others, why I couldn't give 5*. Would definitely visit again though:)

The restaurant could do with bit of lessons in customer friendly ness. Absolutely no smiles feels like you are doing something wrong by visiting. There was a hair on the food plate which the server was quick at responding looking at - it must be yours. This was spotted by server within 1 min of plates being on table and server returning with glasses. And response with out any comment from our side. We were shocked but kept quiet not to spoil our mood. We were then served meat moussaka when our order was vegetarian moussaka. My kids ate the top potato bake and by the time I got to moussaka and dug in I realised that it was meat. I politely asked that it does look vegetarian and received - oh chef must have made meat one. It was then whisked away without any apology or regret as if it's okay to serve meat to vegetarians. Yes it was replaced with veggie option shortly but the experience was really bad. It's shocking for restaurant to not even offer apology for something that big. Wonder how they deal with allergies at all. Seemed like complete disregard to dietary preferences. Overall really bad experience inspite of food being alright.

For the first time my husband and I had lunch at this restaurant in Purley on Sunday 19 March 2023. The food was very tasty and the service was extremely good by the two friendly waitresses. We will certainly return to have more tasty food. Thank you Ege Restaurant.

Read the reviews about them not smiling and thought they must of been having a bad day. But no, they never smile. Had to kept calling them over to get drinks etc, service poor. Zero ambiance. The food was average at best apart from one chicken dish was was horrible/ really unpleasant. Will not be returning

Ordered from deliveroo on 12th February 2023 and I got food poisoned. I'm home right now extremely sick. Never ordering from this place again. Be careful if you order from this place. I ordered mushrooms and prawns and stuffed bell peppers with feta cheese and vegetables.

Came here for a mums night out! Food portions are huge so go with a healthy appetite! Restaurant catered to everyone's needs and swapped rice for chips and vice versa. Service was great and the food was amazing. Going back their after Christmas with the hubby and kids

Oh god, service without a smile, food would have given 3 stars, but service abysmal. No smile at all and then someone started to clear our table by taking glasses with water in that we were still drinking. When asked why, she said she was 18 and sensitive and didn’t like my tone! I calmly asked why she had taken the glasses when we were still drinking. Then walked off. I assume maybe incorrectly that she was a relative of someone who works there, because I work in customer service and I know what is and isn’t acceptable. Anyway then the bill was dropped in a box on the table. We paid obviously, there were no thank yous at all. Then when leaving the “ sensitive 18 year old” started waving and being sarcastic when we left. I have never left a review like this before and wouldn’t bother, but in a time when money is tight and going out to dinner is not something we can do in a regular basis, I do expect some kind of politeness at least. Will never go back and will ensure that I let everyone i know in the area to spend their hard event cash elsewhere.

We have been ordering from here for a while during pandemic and now increasingly trying to dine in. Great food and baklava is amazing as a dessert

The decor is really nice and service was fast but unfortunately the food wasn't that great and quite expensive. I had the chicken shish and rice and while the chicken was moist its flavour was lacking. For starter we had one of their cold aubergine dips with bread. The dish just wasn't memorable. I wouldn't go back again. I think we paid roughly £20 each. Considering we didn't have any alcohol and just the one starter it felt quite pricy.

Absolutely shocking. Just spent over £30 for 2 chicken Shish and chips but only 1 arrived. I immediately called the restaurant who, without even asking for my address or order number, said they packed 2 and the deliveroo driver must have taken one. I explained that the bag was tied in a knot but they said they can’t do anything and suggested I call the Deliveroo customer service. I’m thoroughly disappointed and cannot believe the response. I will never ever use this restaurant again. Disgrace!

We decided to go into the restaurant for dinner after trying the delicious Turkish food for the first time a few weeks back as a takeaway. We went early and the place was not busy apart from a family group with children. Unfortunately the grandad was drunk and basically shouting down the place! The staff were very professional and asked him to please quieten down (he did not!) and tried to make them leave by saying they needed the table back for another reservation. They did leave eventually and apologised to the staff for the noise. Other than that the food was fresh and delicious and very filling. We had the tuna steak and Chicken Iskender. We also got our drinks free (due to the noise) so no complaints there - we will visit again thank you!

By far the best restaurant I’ve been too in south London. The food is outstanding!!! Soo much flavour. Me and my partner have become addicted and order a takeaway most weeks now. Service in the restaurant is also outstanding.

Very good and fresh traditional Turkish food, big portions, nice service and good environment. Good value for money. We have got the set menu for 2 people with starter, main and dessert.

We booked a meal for 7 adults here to celebrate our son's birthday. Unfortunately the bottle of wine we ordered had a very unpleasant taste so we asked if it could be changed to a different wine. (The bottle we ordered was not the named one we were served). The male waiter was very apologetic and changed the wine to a different one which was fine and we thought that was the end of the matter. However the female waitress then became sullen and not very friendly asking for the lid of the first bottle of wine so she could resell it.....not great in these covid times. She was most unhelpful when my daughter asked for advice with the menu (she has several food allergies and has to be cautious). After our main meals were served and cleared no one came back to the table to ask if we wanted more drinks, dessert or coffee so consequently we left and went home for coffee and brandy. The meal came to almost £200 so I would have thought the restaurant would have been a little more accommodating and attentive if they had wanted repeat custom or any kind of recommendation from us to other potential diners. It was a great shame as the food was very good and reasonably priced but we won't be returning or recommending them due to them making us feel very unwelcome and ruining my son's birthday celebration.
