We celebrated a family birthday there. Very warm welcome and looked like a family run operation. The food was outstanding and plentiful. Smallish venue but perfect for our needs. We will be back.

The food was pretty good, though it wasn't as authentic as the food in India but still fills your craving for Indian food! The food was hot, not that spicy and really nice 👍🙂 But I didn't really feel anything amazing or special about the place....

The food tastes amazing and is authentic Indian (both South Indian and North Indian) and complements to the chef for his amazing tasting food. Both me and my partner couldn't believe ourselves how perfect the food was and took our taste buds on a journey to India. It is a cozy and clean restaurant and we follow a vegetarian diet so only ordered vegetarian food and lassis. Be prepared for slightly slow service if it is busy but the food is absolutely worth the wait and the quality of service is top notch. It is a shame we are not from nearby otherwise we would frequent it.

We live on the other side of Kent and came to visit a relative for a family birthday. However, the bank holiday traffic was horrendous. It took us 3 hours for a trip of an hour. We kept the restaurant informed of our delays. When we got there, they were closed to customers, but kindly still served us. They were professional, friendly, and kind. The food was worth the delays. The dosai was a delight. The fish curry was, according to my wife was the best she has ever tasted. As a vegetarian, I was amazed with the choice available. The value for money was outstanding. I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. Thank you 😊

This is a pretentious South Indian restaurant claiming fine dining to be judged by cutlery and fancy folded napkins. The paneer ticka 5 pieces only with loads of onions and capsicum skewered on with zero flavour. No sauces Nothing. Moving on to the the dorsas, I ordered a chilli dorsa thinking it will be fiery. No their interpretation was chilli powder sprinkled on the dorsa. Came with 2 sauces barely a tablespoon and no flavour. Talk about cutting corners on ingredients to make a fast buck. The final straw on the snail service came in form of kebabs (out of a box not freshly made ) served with a barely warmed naan. Total bill came to 53 quid as they charged 5 quid for service. I should have known when I walked in and there were no other customers. One to avoid I'm afraid! Or if you like bland food this could be it for you. I would have had better food from another fast food restaurant called i think dorsa and idli. Disabled access is tight. Parking here was available but it's bankrupt Croydon with cameras hidden every 10 feet and you will get a ticket from all the hidden violations. Truly an extortion racket to be proud of. I should have gone to tooting high street which has 40 places to eat in, snack and takeaway. But hey when you're starving hungry be prepared to be disappointed.

Placed an order via JustEat, which got accepted and got a notification after 30 mins saying out for delivery. Waiting for more than 30 mins now and the food has not arrived. Called the restaurant 10 times and they are not answering. Really pathetic service, never ever ordering from here.

I love this restaurant. The staff are kind, attentive and thoughtful. The food is top drawer. Our starters of dosas and chicken tikka were unsurpassable. I visit here a few times in a year, but I have resolved to make it more often. Good work guys.

Places was nice the food was authentic Indian and the service was great

We ate poppadoms with three fresh tasty dips, chickpea and paneer with green pepper and tomato curries, plain dosa with three different fresh dips and chapatis. Lastly mango lassi and home made cottage cheese desert in sweet milk. All flavorsome with fresh whole spices light but filling. £25pp. Clean place including washroom, sanitizer and moisturizer available at entrance. All table and glassware spotless with fresh table rose. Clear evidence of skilled experienced chef. Evidence of money not wasted on interior upgrade and decor to impress, food, service and price spoke loud.

Highly recommend- amazing fresh food- not oily at all. You can certainly see why they have won awards! Excellent flavour. Will definitely be frequent customers- our new favourite!

We had the Tilapia fish, Molley think it was called, very thin tail end of fish, hard and dry, shared rice and an Okra dish no drinks came to £34 pound, was not worth the money, that fish had no flesh on it at all, never again. Realised now that it was just the tail end of fish, no taste, was like cardboard and £8.95 for about 2oz of fish. Also 1 rice seperate for £8.95 and Okra dish was same price and 2 Cardamon teas came to £34, another reason I hardly eat out, my daughter could and myself make a better dish and if my son in law was with me, he would have asked for money back straight away, he's a chef and knows his food.

We found a little gem in Croydon. This has become one of our favourite restaurants in the area. The food is great and the staff are always accommodating.

Went back to this place after a long time and was pleasantly impressed with the food esp the starters. Chili Paneer / Chili Fish / Maru Bhajias / Prawns. All these were to my spicy taste. If you don’t like spicy I suggest you let them know. Was not happy with the Dosa, was expecting a crispy Dosa but had a soft one, not happy with that. Will still go back for starters and may try other main.

Best curry in ages, great service and amazing food

Wowsers. Totally won the lottery with this place!! The vada was perfectly cooked, paper dosa crispy and full of flavour, and masala dosa absolutely spot on. Not to mention the heat, depth of flavour, and absolute freshness of the sambar, coconut chutney and tomato chutney were world class. If I could, I’d give this place an 11/10!

What a fabulous evening. For some reason we’d not been to Navaratna before but we’ll definitely go again. The food was very tasty and offered things I’ve not had in many Indian restaurants. The starters were quite big but extremely appetising. The service was attentive and we had a great time.

I ordered vegetable biryani for delivery. It’s totally spilled and i put wrong mail id in just eat was unable to get refund.

This is without doubt the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food is fantastic and unlike most other Indian restaurants offers a totally different menu being mostly South Indian dishes. The service is always very good and the staff are very friendly. I cannot recommend NAVARATNA highly enough.

Excellent as per the reviews. This is proper South Indian food with great dosa, vada, incredible bread and fabulous mushroom rice. A testament to how good this place must be, is the presence of many Indian families dining there. Highly recommended.

We have been to this restaurant several times since moving to the area. The staff are always willing to help and provide a great service every time. The food is tasty and always plenty of it.

I have been wanting some South Indian food for several years now and noticed this little gem on South End, Croydon. Mustered the troops and headed down on a Saturday night, early on, it must be noted. Great food and authentic as I have spent several months in South India. Definitely will return!

Very quiet on a Wednesday night, but then so was everywhere else. The food is excellent. Really good curry house staples and some Kerlian dishes that were new to me. As usual we couldn't finish and the staff boxed everything up. So that's another dinner already sorted out. A few Cobras and Becks Blue. Excellent food. Excellent service. Not the flashiest restaurant in Croydon's curry house scene. But one of the best.

Found staff to be very pleasant however was disappointed with what I got, large kebab looked well packed but half filled with salad chicken pakora best I have had for a while, veg pakora was quite dry, overall not very good value for money

Very impressive food, some of the best Indian we've had for some time! The Mutton Masala was amazing with lots of meat, the fish curry was fabulous and the cheese naan was so full of cheese. Great food and nice restaurant.

My wife spotted mice under the table next to us and pointed to the lady who served us but that lady seemed very casual about it. The way mice were loitering around in the restaurant looked to me that they were permanent residents of the place. Staff and management didn't apologize or tried to make any good for it. It put us off the dinner, so we got up, paid the bill and left ASAP. Will NEVER VISIT AGAIN in here.

My friend recommended this place as we were staying in a hotel nearby. The food was amazing! They also serve Halal, which was the reason mainly we chose. Didn't expyfood to be so delicious!

Spicy food, service extremely poor. Be prepared to wait for over an hour for your food to be served. We ordered Paper roast dosa(as the menu explained “crispy pan cake”). It was a normal plain dosa, when we told the man in charge he took it back and brought back another plain dosa and didn’t seem very bothered at all. We also ordered salt and pepper fish and mutton chukka, very very spicy and there were hardly just 2 pieces of fish. After over an hour of wait we got our main dishes, pepper chicken and chettinad chicken and after waiting for another 10 minutes they served us garlic naan. We wanted to order more naan but the lady tried to discourage us saying it will take time. All in all a pathetic experience!!!

Not recommended! Despite the high ratings and good looking food, our south Indian dinner experience left much to be desired. We ordered mixed uttapam, mysore masala dosa, regular masala dosa, masala tea, and mango lassi. The uttapam had an average taste with a slightly sour note, while the dosas and their masala filling lacked the usual flavor profile one would expect from the dish. The coconut chutney was disappointingly bland, and the sambhar suffered from a lack of salt and flavor, all falling short of expectations. The masala tea was probably the only thing that was passable. Post this flavorless experience, we chose not to pay the service charge due to the unsatisfactory food quality, which prompted an unfavorable response from the man in charge, who wasn't even very interested in enquiring what the issues were. Despite the chef's claimed 25+ years of experience, the food didn't reflect it. Given these issues, the steep pricing cannot be justified, thereby the establishment not being value for money.

The food here is really bad. We ordered chicken biryani and it could hardly be categorised as veg pulao. We ordered dosas and the masala and sambhar were quite plain. Won’t recommend this to anyone

We ordered paper dosa, uthappam and pomfret. They mentioned pomfret as their special for the day.. it was an amazing food I had after coming to UK. We came from Brighton specifically to eat in this restaurant. They should definitely open a branch in Brighton. Service is very good.

Amazing food and service. One of the rare restaurants in Croydon which centre around serving fresh food of excellent culinary quality. You will not find some random pasta or Western dishes on their menu - there is a pure focus on South Indian food. Nor will you find heaps of cheap oil on top, as many Indian places do. We tried several dishes, and we were really amazed. The waitress was so polite and made the atmosphere very nice, so this just made our day.

Amazing experience all round. Have had takeaway from here before but went and ate in for the first time as my dad came to visit us. Everything we ordered was delicious. The chilli paneer, the fish chetininad and the lamb kadai were our favourites (the lamb was very spicy but well worth it) The service was also really attentive and friendly. The chef even came out and chatted to us and made sure we enjoyed the food. Can't wait to go back. Thanks for a great experience

Had dinner with my family here on Saturday. The quality and presentation of the food was amazing. I especially loved the service provided by all the staff, they were extremely attentive and were very accommodating to our requests. The ambience is lovely! A must visit.

I ordered Masala dosa it came really soggy and when I complained the waiter was really rude.

Not recommended at all.. Masala dosa was like pancake /very soggy.

I had a take-away from here on saturday for four of us to celebrate my birthday. I love curry, but I was sadly disappointed as everything was over spiced, even the sag prawn puree was so spicy and not flavourful at all like other places. I definitely not go back.

I have visited this restaurant last week during the closing time but they gave us a warm welcome. all the order we made are really very nice and tastes superbly.

Glad we arrived early as we didn't book and the place was full by the time we left, this was a Wednesday evening so recommend booking if you can. Food was great my only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I prefer a fluffy naan, where here it is served more like a flat bread but still very tasty. Service also really good and very reasonably priced.

We ordered medu Vada, Kerala parota and butter roti. Pros : Roti was very good Cons : Felt frozen parota is heated and served Vada was reheated - fine as we asked Vada as evening snack Chettinadu chicken - didn't taste like one
