It was a quiet Monday evening so not many people in, this made the big main dining area feel a little cavernous and unwelcoming. But the staff did a great job of keeping us informed, fed and watered. The food was, as always, superb.

We’ve used Panahar for many years and always loved it but, since moving out of the area we haven’t been there for at least 5 years. Last night we booked at table for our daughters birthday and learnt just before we were due to arrive that it had been taken over by someone else. Slightly apprehensive at this new knowledge we arrived and were greeted by friendly staff and taken to our table. Well, where do I begin? The experience was faultless from start to finish. Service was exceptional, food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and the staff quite literally couldn’t do enough for us. We had such a lovely evening and strongly recommend everyone to try the place. You won’t be disappointed. Thankyou Panahar, we will be back very soon.

Nice food but be aware that for the buffet apparently anyone 8+ is an adult which I wasn't aware of until I came to pay. This became expensive for a 12 year old that only ate half a plate of food! Wish I had argued it. They gave her a lollipop at the end, surely you don't give an adult a lollipop?! Not impressed.

Visited here a couple of times now and never fails to disappoint, food is exquisite and portion sizes are impressive. Staff are lovely and attentive

Nice Sunday all you can eat, good selection and staff are friendly and on form, could do with labels on the selection rather than having to ask what is what but a small gripe. Overall will be back again.

Nice restaurant and good service but very expensive with an average of £15 per dish which is quite expensive for an Indian restaurant. Starters were ok but all of the mains were very oily and heavy and after a few mouthfuls it became too much and were not enjoyable anymore unfortunately. For the quality of the food which was served the price was way too expensive so it's unlikely that we would come here again which is a shame as the service was very good just way overpriced for what you get and not really good value for money.

I have used Panahar for years, however this time it wasn’t good, the rice and Bombay aloo was fine, the chicken tikka starter only had 4 small pieces of chicken, the chicken madras only had 6 small pieces of chicken, the flavour was absolutely lovely but the portion size really was taking the p*ss, I know the cost of living has gone up but for 20 quid I had little more than a very small starter. It is with regret that I won’t be using Panahar again

Had a lovely meal here with friends. I am not local to the area and had never been there before but the service, food and cost were all great. Nice quiet atmosphere where you could easily talk with the ten people in the group.

Panahar used to be our regular dine-in curry house. We absolutely loved the Lallia - a nice hot curry made with birds eye chillis that is exclusive to the Panahar. Unfortunately I'm guessing they've got a new chef. The Lallia isn't the same anymore - with the last 2 visits being served something with no spice and no visible chillis. I appreciate their key demographic probably aren't eating hot curries but if it's not something you can make anymore, don't offer it. We'd been visiting Panahar for at least a year or two probably every month yet the staff had no familiarity, even despite our visits being during the quieter periods and our attempts to talk to staff and build some rapport. Conversely our new regular - we've visited 4 times and the staff already know our regular table and get the right number of poppadoms ready without us needing to say a thing. The atmosphere at Panahar is exactly what you want from a curry house, and the food is nice albeit not what it used to be. Unfortunately they seem to not be interested in building rapport with regular diners, and seem to have forgotten what chillis are. If you're taking a group out for chicken tikka masalas then Panahar is a good shout.

Sunday buffet lunch is rubbish. 🗑

This was my first visit. We were a little cramped with five on a table that would normally have been for four. The five course advertised menu was really three courses but there were two sides with the main so five at a stretch. The tribute act clearly had a sore throat but battled on regardless. It was loud so you could only really talk to the person right next to you BUT it was really good fun! The food was very good....delicious Ghurka Lamb and "Elton John" was very entertaining and I enjoyed dancing. A good night out....Im planning to book for two more shows and now I know what to expect I reckon it will be 5 stars next time!

Have been eating here for many years and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere etc but on Friday 6th Jan 2023 that changed and will be my last ever visit. Was asked was everything okay and when we advised that the onion bhaji were soggy, the chicken tikka massalla was bland and tangy etc the manager became argumentative and quite abusive...disgraceful service ... Will never recommend again

Have been using that panahar from when it first opened years ago and I've always enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. Unfortunately on this occasion I was very disappointed. The portion sizes are smaller and the quality of food was pretty poor. The onion bhajis were soggy and the chicken tikka masala was bland. The manager didnt deal with our dissatisfaction well and was arguing and throwing his arms around. I am sorry to say that this evening will be my last visit.

Above average Indian good takeaway value with discounts but please.... If a customer asks for dishes Madras hot make an effort.. Last takeaway this week all the dishes had not enough heat especially the 5 or 6 dishes clearly requested to be a bit spicier

We’ve ordered a takeaway a few times and was lovely so thought we’d dine in and it was even better. The decor is beautiful and clean inside. Food was served in beautiful dishes (wish I’d taken a photo) It’s a very traditional restaurant but I like that. Very well balanced and tasty dishes. No colourings and bursting with flavour Highly recommended!

Absolutely the best curry we've ever had, the chicken balti was amazing as was the chicken Madras, it was so good we went back on a Sunday for the buffet and the food was just as good, forget the rest, this is the best,, honestly

Came here to this restaurant as a taste card user with my family the other day as we arrived the waiter who greeted us asked us repeatedly you're taste card user? it was then we knew we was about to be treated differently from passed experience using taste card, the tone from the waiter voice was different for us compared to the other customers. We had gotten the vibe that we was not welcome purely because we are using taste card when we had finished our meal my family and I was talking at the table amongst our self, the waiter started clearing the table and removing the table cloth while our drinks was still on the table this type of service was not given to any of the other customers because they was paying without taste card This is clearly a pattern of behaviour that is displayed with Indian food resteraunts why add yourself to taste card and then treat customers differently clearly it hurts there soul when a customer saves abit off money Indian resteraunts love to mug you off the greed for money is just shocking. Will never be visiting this restaurant again save yourself your time and money and go to somewhere where your actually valued as a customer with/without tastecard.

First time we went for lunch on Sunday with kiddies, ordered pappadam as a starter for kids , that was long dated pappadam I guessed because bad smiles , couldn’t eat and we didn’t give them back just kept a side, waitress just working and chatting around with them staff 👎🏻 Sorry ,We won’t come back

Six of us went here to the Panahar last Weds evening and they looked after us superbly . The staff were exceedingly polite and gave us lots of time to think about our menu choices . The food was extremely high quality , beautifully cooked , and brought to the table sizzling hot . My dish the Prawn Khalid was the Chefs speciality , and it was so hot on its cast iron serving dish the waiter actually told me twice to please be careful as the dish iwas exceptionally hot . I thought that was really good they were so caring and considerate . The restaurant is superbly fitted out , and had the round tables we particularly like and requested . The whole place was exceptionally clean and tidy , and they changed our table cloth for a new one underneath , following our main meal. Thank you Panahar for an excellent meal and very enjoyable evening .

Fabulous food and good service although it can get very busy at weekends and the service becomes extremely slow but if your patient is fine just don't go when your hungry 😀

The best curry and customer service around

Been getting food here for a while now and started off great never a problem but the last 3 or 4 orders have been cold and unfortunately this time I had to cancel my order due to my food still not having left the kitchen after 1 hour n 5 minutes when I was told the usual 45 minute wait I had to call twice to ask where my food was. For a £50 order im not happy ended up waiting over an hour to end up having to order pizza

I’m not sure what’s going here delivery time Is shocking and getting worse on every order had me waiting over a hour to tell me the food hasn’t left yet twice..plus the drivers are to lazy to get out n find my address every time , i will no longer use this place

Somewhat disappointed on this occasion not as good as previous visits. Booked table by email - claimed not to have our name on list. Chicken dishes with huge chunks meat not marinated properly. Not impressed.

Once again a lovely meal at this lovely cosy restaurant. The food here is delicious and such a great selection, staff are friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone from a large party or a couple just wanting a quiet meal. Well done Panahar. Thanks

Food was nice but they no longer take tastecard and didnt tell anyone so we went thinking we could have an amazing meal with a discount but was sadly disappointed to be told they do not accept the deal I signed up for.. they did however give us a bit of a discount as goodwill which was appreciated

My sons food was amazing (Akbari)! But mine was unfortunately overpriced for what I received, despite the nice taste: how can you have only 3 prawns in a £14 curry!!?

Lovely food. Good service. Don’t go there with a Tastecard though. It’s not valid, even though the restaurant are signed up for the scheme. Disappointed as the only reason we went on a Sunday was for the deal. Waiter give the worst excuse why we couldn’t use the card. Highly dissatisfied, won’t be going again

Panahar is a lovely little Indian restaurant, our favourite in Warlingham, great food, very tender chicken, amazing sauces and great customer service, looking forward to our next visit

Came here for the 1st time last week for Father's day, really good restaurant. Waiters were attentive and helpful when asked for recommendations and other questions. Food was delicious, Sam one of the senior guys was very friendly and asked the chef's to cook the food to our taste. The service was quick and the prices were okay too. Definitely would recommend and will come here again very soon.

Have been here twice once dining in and last week take away. Food is ok and the curry all have roughly the same flavours. The byriani l ordered was ok nothing outstanding. The food is catered for english people , I've tried better Indian restaurants with authentic Indian food

The only Indian restaurant me and my family ever use. Spotless, reliable and delicious food with welcoming personal staff who go out of their way to keep customers happy. Highly recommended 👍🏼

Son loves this place so visited other day for his good work

Placed order by phone. Passed around as staff couldn't understand, repeated the order 3 times to last person who repeated back too fast to note. Told him to stop, I repeated again, he repeated last couple. Said it would be 35 minutes. Called me back to say one item not available, but didn't offer any compensation. Went to collect and waited another 30 minutes, they said my order had got lost, again, no apology or offer. When home one item missing, they refused to accept accountability. My son went without We stopped using them years ago because on 3 visits food was either raw or badly made. Don't use, there are some vastly better places near by.

The food from the Panahar is great not cheap by any means but very good, the reason for the one star review is that they can not deliver what they promise, ordering a takeaway to be delivered and I was told 1 hour to one hour 20 minutes which is fine by me, 1 hour 40 minutes later i phone up and get through and ask if the food is on the way to be told it that it was on its way, 35 minutes later i am back on the phone asking where the food is to be told that they do not not know where it is as they can not get in touch with the driver, the food arrives 10 minutes later the driver is very sorry and gives a discount, when we dish out the food we find that not only the food is cold but also missing the nana breads, it is at this point that I can not be bothered to phone and complain but just not to order from here again, it is a shame as the food when hot and supplied as order is good.

Had the Punjabi lamb chops was delicious. One of the nicest meals I had in a long time. Food is a cut above the average indian restaurant. Have eaten herr many occasions over the years and the food has been reliably excellent. We also turned up without booking, they were busy but managed to accommodate us which I really appreciated. Excellent friendly service too.

I was excited to visit Panahar based off the glowing reviews, but I have to admit I was thoroughly disappointed. The restaurant is covered in carpet which is not cleaned properly and upon entrance I could immediately sense how much dust there was everywhere as my nose blocked up and my eyes wouldn't stop watering so be careful if you're sensitive. The food is also catered for English people as that happens to be the only demographic visiting so the curries were all sweet and creamy without any distinct spice or proper Indian flavours. The naan and poppadoms were stale and obviously reheated and could barely even stomach those either. The restaurant is also very loud because of the guests which can be bothersome if you have young children and the service is adequate but the waiters can be dismissive if you ask them for an extra glass or fork for example. Overall if you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine I would not recommend this place at all.

This has always been my favourite Indian until New years eve 45 per head for adults 35 for children And a poor Elvis impersonator for the evenings events. The food bland and choice not great for children, even worse for vegetarians, I feel cheated for the money we paid and now feel less likely to go back, full stop let alone for any special nights with live music . Thank heaven for family who made the night what it was as if it had not been for them I'd have got up and left . Normally the food is second to none and the entertainment is first class . Shame !
