Absolutely delicious! Efes Mediterranean Grill serves some of the best Mediterranean food I’ve had in New Jersey. The flavors are authentic, the ingredients are fresh, and every dish is perfectly seasoned. I tried the mixed grill platter and the hummus, both were incredible! The portions are generous and the staff is warm and welcoming. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, the quality and service are top-notch. Highly recommend if you’re looking for flavorful, comforting Mediterranean cuisine!

Waste of $32!!! I am so disappointed by the serving and quality of the food here. Never again.

we are costumer for this place more than 6 years the price always becomes higher and food quality and amount becomes less they full the sandwiches & the rap by salads and vegetables, every visit we feel the different it’s become not our favorite place anymore.

The food is good. The service is bad. There's no clear communication when you step in the restaurant about where to go for dining in or takeout. We ordered at the takeout counter thinking that was the only place to order for dine-in. After ordering, we were told we can't sit in the dining area and we had to sit in the downstairs area that stank like cigarettes from someone smoking outside. They didn't want to accommodate us at all until the manager told the cashier to void the order so we could sit down. Very disorganized and I'm not sure if they know what they're doing. I would rather go to another restaurant because there are a ton of middle-eastern type food restaurants in the area. It's too bad because the first time I came to the restaurant a few years ago it was a good experience. I won't be recommending it again.

Kicked out with clearly marked service animal. Customer of 20 years. I got liver and hummus. It cost $30.

Ok guys, inflation, inflation, inflation.. i get it. Everything is expensive. BUT, I went to Efes to get a chicken kebab platter for takeout & ummmm, this was $15. 🫠 yikes. 5 pieces of chicken over white rice & the tiniest bit of salad & 1 small white sauce container which by the way was half way filled. Respectfully, not worth $15 in my opinion.

Great service and the white chocolate mocha is perfect. The desserts look yummy but I'm always there so early that I feel tempted, but wrong to partake. Maybe I'll try something soon. It's a small, cozy space near the college. Minimal seating but so what. It's nice.

We ordered a large chicken kebab plate with rice and pita. The “large” plate had 5 very small pieces of chicken, it was $20 for a cup of rice and not even a quarter cup of chicken. The pita was also straight from a store shelf. I know because it came in the actual processed plastic bag, cold. The grape leaves were also mushy and unpleasant. Disappointing as I’ve had much better food here in the past

Amazing food. Just what I needed. Hadn't realized what I was missing after leaving Mediterranean Türkiye. Also, a great vibe and atmosphere and good service. The manti and grape leaf rolls were delicious. Very good toasted bread came with the meal.

It’s a shame as the food was nice but it was so cold in the restaurant we kept our coats on . We were the last to leave we had spent £300 and were annoyed that they were spraying disinfectant and mopping the floor 15 minutes before closing. We will not return.

Fabulous food, good value. Visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full and buzzy which is always great. Belly dancer was brilliant. The only thing I would say is the background music wasn't really background music, it was blaring. We couldn't really hear each other. During the belly dancer performance was fine but for the rest of the evening they could do with turning it down a bit. Overll though we had a lovely time. We shared the mini platter and it was great. Hummus was amazing. They had run out of chicken doner but not problem as they replaced this with extra chicken shish.

Very good food. Very hard to find a decent Turkish restaurant in NJ, but these guys are very very good. Food was amazing One down side is that they did shrink the size of the salmon portions. The lamb shawarma was amazing !!!

I have been coming here since 2005, when my brother started attending college at RU, we would stop here often. And when I started going to RU, I visited this restaurant at least 2x a week. The prices were a lot better back then, being 15-20 years ago. But I still come back at least once a month because the prices might have gone up, but the quality has stayed as amazing as it was 20 years ago. Going that long with quality food is a hard achievement but not a surprise. My go to dishes are always the mixed grill and a large shephard salad with feta cheese.

Rude to the doordash driver and sent a regular portion when I paid 9$ more for a large.

We had catering from Efes for our department events at Rutgers and they always have delicious food with on-time delivery. Highly recommend this place!

ordered turkish coffee, hummus, mixed grill and the knafeh; all were fantastic. turkish coffee had a great chocolaty flavor, with a rich balanced acidity. the mixed grill had wonderful, tender meat and a massive portion. knafeh was absolutely a standout, not too sweet and great flavor. atmosphere was beautiful, great service.

Food was tasty and well presented and the atmosphere was quite relaxed. Only criticism was that our waitress was too eager to clear away our plates and kept interrupting us when we were still eating.

Took my colleagues out for lunch it was a great time

was advised not to go.....i should have listened. service was so slow it was shocking. food was awful. bill had already been part paid and conveniently they forgot to deduct it.....good job i was aware . then have the cheek to put a whopping service charge on......they should have paid us for the waiting times

Usually very good, but that night was so busy with restaurant and outgoing orders that I had to wait even longer (they did give me a feee rice pudding with my order for the hassle) but the food didn’t have the same flavor it usually has. I must say, this is just for that one visit. On the whole, they are very good and give good service!

Arrived at 1030 on a Friday night and although late they squeezed us in. Great friendly staff and the food was absolutely superb. Plenty of bread and dips to start and a cracking lamb doner meal. Reasonably priced and a great atmosphere. Couldn’t fault it👍

We had a proud dad on our unit gift us this delicious food. Wow! for their act of generosity and to this delicious food. The collective was truly grateful and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The baklava is so divine! The lamb went fast lol, but the hummus and the chicken were so good. I’m happy he left a few menus as well because I’m coming with my family for this food.

The food and ambiance are great! Never had a bad meal, it's just too overpriced for the portions. They have gotten cheaper with portions over the year, especially catering. I got a single serve gyro platter with Zucchini fritters take out for $40! They even tagged on a $6 tip even though it was takeout.

Efes has some of the best Mediterranean food you can get in New Brunswick. Definitely worth of visit even if you haven't had a lot of Mediterranean dishes before. Definitely try the humus and chicken kabobs!

My family and I really liked this restaurant a lot. The food is super good and fresh; the portions are generous. Their lamb and chicken are really excellent! The staff is super nice and very attentive. Their bread is extra good. Also, we ordered the dessert (can't remember the name of it) and it was to kill for;) if you are nearby - visit the place- you will not be disappointed!

I ordered gyro doner ,beef was horrible.My husband and my son ordered chicken kebab they were okey,Efes’s appetizers are delicious.Only good score for appetizers.

I was hungry and midway while I was eating my mixed grill I started to feel like the food had a smell so I decided to stop but unfortunately it was too late because a few hours later I started to have pain in my stomach and for 2 days now I’ve been suffering, NO MORE EFES. Please people be careful!!!

Food is always on point. My Husband Family and myself try to go at least once a mouth often twice. With take away in between. Only constructed Advice, is staff can be a bit hovering.

First time being upstairs~ it’s so gorgeous. Waitstaff is super supportive and attentive, yummy chai latte too!

I was shocked by the portions and the price compared to other Turkish restaurants. I have been to several places. The size was too small. The small shepherds salad was smaller than my cell phone and was $14.50 without taxes. I ordered fried liver and you can hardly find any, was only few pieces.

I dined in couple of times. The food is great. I also took sandwiches out for lunch and they were good as well.

I recently visited Efes Restaurant in New Brunswick, where I ordered a mixed wrap. Due to a severe onion allergy, I was very clear with the staff that onions should not be included in my order. Unfortunately, when I received my wrap, I found it filled with onions, which led to an allergic reaction. When I called the restaurant to address the issue, I was disappointed with the response. Rather than offering a sincere apology or attempting to rectify the situation, the staff simply asked, "What do you want us to do?" When I requested the name of the manager, I was told it was "Billy," a name that seemed improvised on the spot. In addition to this issue, I've noticed a decline in the overall quality of the food at Efes. The ingredients, which used to be fresh and flavorful, now seem to lack the same quality. Furthermore, even a simple request for extra sauce was met with reluctance, making the experience less enjoyable. While Efes has been a go-to spot for Mediterranean cuisine in the past, this recent experience has left me concerned about their attention to detail and customer service. I hope the management takes steps to address these issues, as the potential for a great dining experience is still there. However, I would urge anyone with food allergies to exercise caution when ordering.

Over the years it has gotten really expensive.

O out of 10 no stars. Food was picked out of the trash can and delivered to me. 🤬🤢 Rice was hard and cold, salad was from 2 days again and chicken tasted old.

Went for dinner with a friend. Ambience and entertainment vibes were very good. Was running late for our reservation slot but they told us come nonetheless. Got there and was seated within 5 minutes. Food served promptly and tasted fab👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. Lovely cocktails too. Belly dancer entertainment an added bonus to a nice evening. Reasonably priced too and was given a complimentary simple but nice platter of fruit after our meal. All staff that served us very good. Definitely recommend.

Nice Turkish spot in New Brunswick NJ. The food was pretty good and hit the spot. The inside upstairs was pretty nice too I love all the lamps and lights going up the stairs. The only thing that was kinda disappointing was the waitress wasn’t really good. She had a little attitude and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there working. I still left a $20 tip which I’m sure in these places are nothing special. Parking next to the restaurant isn’t that bad but the streets over here are very small. Kind of like a smaller version of parking in Brooklyn. Whenever I’m in New Jersey I’ll check this place out again. Hopefully they have better waitresses working.

Bad food quality, service and table it's very bad .

Must have changed ownership. Ordered 2 orders of hummus and got 2 pita breads. The old owners would give you a few pitas and oil. Don’t think I will be back. I hope Princeton is still original owners!

Ordered takeout, 5 min walk. Soggy French fries, 1 of 2 lamb kebab meat was overdone, white sauce was watered down, prices high for meal type/size. My local cheap shawarma joint has better food for cheaper.

Great place to have a nice quiet

It's a very cool place to eat with a great view and eclectic decorations. The restaurant special garlic chicken had some fat on it. It wasn't busy but took a few minutes to get drinks, take our order and get our meals. The fresh bread was DELICIOUSNESS, warm, crispy, lightly burnt ends. Yummy. The baklava could have used a huge drizzle of honey because it was a bit dry. Ali was very friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

The food was sooo tasty, fast, and hot. I was looking forward to leaving 5 stars, but towards the end of the plate I found a small hair. That let’s me know that the preparation are not covering there hairs. Disappointed and a little nauseous

I had a fantastic dining experience at Efes last night. The service was impeccable, and the food was absolutely delicious. Three of our party shared a platter for six, and every dish was superbly prepared and flavourful. I opted for the haloumi and falafel wrap with chips, and it was a delightful choice. The quality of the food was outstanding, and the restaurant's ambiance added to the overall enjoyment. Efes truly stands out in the area as a destination for a memorable meal, and we will definitely be returning.

This is my go to spot when I like to eat lamb. Fresh and delicious. Their bread is so refreshing. I have been going to this place for the past two years. It was good each time. Don't miss their Turkish fruit juices. This place is authentic and genuine.

It's the only restaurant in the US I'd miss if I'm outside of the US. Food tastes great and authentic (certified by Turkish friend from Turkey), and deserts are the best (best and authentic baklava around). Service is good, good decorations and atmosphere. It is easily the best middleeastern food in the central jersey. It's amazing that it keeps its quality and even improves it all these years. It's my favorite, and I almost don't want to recommend it so I can keep it to myself.

I love there bakery shop more than the food. The pistachio cakes was so good, I should of bought a whole cake. The food was good also, they have seating upstairs. It was seven of us and the bill was over $500.

Dined in with friends of mine. The food was fantastic! For me, I ordered the octopus salad. It was phenomenal. I love octopus and was extremely happy with the dish. I did not try what my friends ordered, they were equally as happy with their dishes as well. The one dish had so much food, that my friend ended up taking half of it home.

Last few times I been there waitress suck only came to my table 2times . She should have been fired for discrimination but the owne or manager came and did her job over all everything else was great. I have not been back in a while because my present should be good as my money

Fantastic restaurant. I usually visit once every few weeks as well as takeaways in between. The owner Jemal is fantastic and always friendly. His staff are very attentive and the food is always cooked to perfection.

This place has a great atmosphere and the food was amazing. I personally had the Lamb Adana Kebab and it was great, this restaurant has great food and nice service.

As MiddleEasterner, I definitely suggest this high quality Turkish restaurant for Kebab lovers. The food was so delicious as you feel you are in Istanbul and the hospitality proves it. Don’t forget to order Ayran (yougurt drink) as drink and Keshkul as dessert. I will come back again !

High quality and friendly staff

The staff is attentive and friendly, the food and portions are small, the food is at an acceptable level, the ambience is nice and spacious, the prices are normal.

Overall experience was positive, would definitely try again. We did have minimal interaction with server as our salads did not come with dressing and were waiting for her to come back, when she did and we informed her our salads that were now half eaten did not have dressing, she came back and dropped off oil and vinegar....everyone in our party finished their meals, stay tuned for my follow up one day!

AMAZING! I got tiramisu and I was expecting the regular mascarpone cream and was I surprised. It reminds me of a cheesecake but not that dense, the cocoa is strong but not overpowering, you get the coffee which isn’t bitter. I will definitely be back to try more.

We have only visited the New Brunswick location. Love the atmosphere and all of the wait staff. Our go to is the octopus salad, the liver and some Turkish coffee to top it all off, and they have a wonderful selection of desserts. Too bad I don’t have any food pics.

Efes serves Mediterranean cuisine with a lovely ambiance. Our favorite dishes are the Iskender Kabob, the gyro dinner, lamb shish, lamb adana kebab, and the Chicken Adana. For appetizers, we usually get the Eggplant Salad, Shepherd Salad or the Sigara Boregi. For dessert, the baklava is quite good, as is the pistachio cheesecake. The tea and espresso are a good choice. Parking is challenging with meter parking on the street, but there are some reasonable lots nearby.

Very tasty food, but I’m disappointed with the price and portion sizes. I ordered a lamb kebab and I paid $15 for 4 pieces of meat. It’s good food but it’s pricey and not enough. Update: Efes’ replies to negative reviews seem to be AI generated. If this is true, it just goes to show how much they care about their customers.

Very authentic Turkish food with quick and courteous service.

Unbelievable. Asked for a combination kebab. Got told no. Waiter asked another member of staff. Who did not understand why manger said no. When them was talking I went to chef who know my order without talking. Because I order for take away once a week. Never will I return because we found a fabulous Turkish around corner. Fabulous (sedir restaurant) just a moment away sedir restaurant was happy to take my £95. Photo below is the meal I could not have in take way form
