This is such a friendly restaurant and very handy for the subscription rooms. We had amazing lambs liver and spinach manca with warm flatbread for our starters. Our chicken and lamb shish served with rice and salad, were beautifully presented and excellent value for money. All food was freshly cooked and the service was great. Can’t recommend it highly enough

Came here with a large family, there was 23 of us. 15 adults, 8 children. Efes grill was absolutely phenomenal, they catered for every single one of us. Meals were super quick and tasted amazing. The staff were so friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. I would 100% come back here again. Thank you for everything

This was our first time at Efe's and it certainly won't be the last. Delicious food, great ambience and wonderful service. Very reasonable prices too. Can't wait for our next visit!

Visited this restaurant with friends this week whilst on holiday in Stroud. We all had absolutely beautiful meals ranging from Moussaka Veg and Meat, Lamb Stew and Spicy Sausage with a Greek Salad. A bottle of Red Turkish Wine and Baclava all round completed this delicious dinner.Oh almost forgot a lovely tot of Disorano each. The staff were absolutely lovely, efficient friendly and chatty. I recommend Efes without reservation. Thankyou

Went to efes grill for the first time last night with my husband. The food was absolutely amazing, the salads were so fresh, the hummous was incredible and the falafels were insanely good. As someone who has eaten a lot of falafel and hummous in their life, I feel like I’m well versed in knowing a good one! The service was also incredible and the owners are so friendly, welcoming and chatty. We tried a Turkish red wine for the first time and it was such a lovely surprise and upon finishing our meal, we were given some delicious pistachio Turkish delights too. 100% will be visiting again and I’m definitely going to take my family when they come to visit next! Thank you for such an amazing meal!

We had cold meze starter plus mains. Efes is a fantastic traditional Turkish experience in Stroud. For me, it was best chicken Iskinder I have ever eaten. We chatted with the personable business owner and chef, and together with a knowledgeable waitress, the working duo made our night very special. We will definitely return to this gem.

We went for a evening meal for the first time without the kids in quite a while. Ideal for couples and small parties / groups etc. Real authentic music and décor including the menu. There were so many items we liked from the cold and hot choices, we had one of the sharer mezes - one hot & one cold - Slightly greedy but it's meant we got to try pretty much everything. All were really well made, tasty and by the time we finished we were worried we might not be space for the mains. My partner had a lamb kebab & I had the kleftico - Kleftico was cooked to perfection and just came straight of the bone. I was lucky enough that when my partner became full so I got to try the lamb donor as well which were beautiful cuts of meat. We shared a pudding which included the Turkish delight - Not the Fry's chocolate stuff - The real Turkish delight - Beautiful cubes of Heaven! Toilets were clean & all the staff were friendly - I think this is very much a family business of which they came out to greet the customers We will definitely be back ☺️

Went out for a meal after work, popped in to Effes, we had the mixed cold meze, and the hot meze, between 3 of us, it was all great, the saucek was bar far my favourite from the hot, but all the cold were all great. The humous was outstanding. Main courses were all lovely had the iskender this was really quite big, and very filling. Accompanied with a Greek salad, nicest salad I’ve had in a long time. The waitress/ hostess made our evening great fun, really informative about the food. All in all a great night out.

Our starters were lovely but our main dishes were a letdown. Mine was a lamb casserole which was barely hot and not very tasty. My husband chose Kkeftico which he also found to be a let down and not the Turkish delight we had both anticipated. Our waitress was very pleasant and the ambience was nice but food left a lot to be desired

We thought we'd give Efes a try and so pleased we did. Staff were so friendly and helpful and what can I say about the food, totally delicious and I seriously can't remember when I had a better meal and we do eat out quite a lot.

We shared a great pair of fairly priced hot and cold mezze plates here, followed by heavenly baklava with clotted cream. The mezzes were well prepared and tasty served at optimum temperature. The clotted cream added to the baklava ensured it didn't feel sickly sweet....

Justo al final de Russell Street del mercado al aire libre de Stroud, Efes es un lugar sutil que realmente merece más atención. El restaurante estaba impecable y nuestro servidor también llevaba una mascarilla. Fue muy atento y educado. Teníamos Adana Kofte, cordero asado; y Sebzeli Guvec, un plato vegetariano a base de berenjenas horneado en una olla de barro. Mi esposo vivió en Turquía durante algún tiempo y sintió que ambos eran perfectamente auténticos. Tratamos de comer algo ligero en el almuerzo, pero pensó en pedir otro plato y dijo que estaba tentado de lamer el plato para dejarlo limpio. Hemos visto que la pandemia ha afectado mucho a muchos lugares. Asegúrese de visitar Efes para no perderse una excelente comida.

Reservé una mesa para mí, mi esposa y nuestro hijo de 8 años. El saludo fue muy cálido y amable. No me había dado cuenta de que el menú estaba listo debido al Día de San Valentín y, aunque tenía un precio muy razonable para 3 platos, mi billetera no estaba lo suficientemente lejos como para hacer frente. Le expliqué y el personal hizo lo imposible para acomodar mi presupuesto restringido. Consecuentemente, los tres pasamos un tiempo delicioso con excelente comida (mi hijo disfrutó especialmente el pastel de chocolate casero con un montón de crema batida). La pieza de resistencia fue que el camarero me deslizó una rosa para presentar a mi esposa X efes grill, eres Más que brillante. La mejor comida, el mejor personal, la mejor noche. Auge.

Visited this great Turkish restaurant with friends on Saturday and had a great meal with great friendly service. Will definitely be going back again.

This place looked like it might contain hidden treasures, but instead revealed a waiter who gave the impression he wasn't keen on customers at all. The restaurant was otherwise empty, and I think the waiter would have preferred to keep it that way. No attempt was made to make my wife & well behaved kids welcome. My haloumi salad tasted like it had been freshly plucked from the freezer straight into the microwave to give it a texture akin to an over-baked potato. Other dishes were at best 'edible' but certainly not enjoyable. Maybe this is an evening place? I wouldn't risk returning to find out. There are plenty of good places to eat in Stroud & my advice is - try any of them, but not this one!

First visit, had heard good things about the food & it didn't disappoint. 2 sharing platters to start, really nice selection of diiferent starters, the majority of which were vegeterian, huge portion. Main courses, again really good selection of food on the menu, actually made it very difficult to order as there is so much choice! Food was delicious, again good sized portions. For after tea & coffee had with some lovely baklava. The only issue we had was trying to get service inbetween courses. Only had 1 drink for over 2hrs (luckily had a jug of water) as waiter was rushing around to serve all the other tables, so potential upsell missed, no issues with the food service, all delivered to table very quickly. Had to go up to the desk to ask about tea/coffee & the bill (by this time we were the only ones there). Food was lovely & would go back. Definitely worth a visit.

Arrived at 530 on a Thursday pm the time it says it’s open to be met by waiter, he said to come back in half hour as clay oven takes half hour to get ready,, well open at 6 then! We arrived back at 545 and said we would wait had mezzanine starter waiter too busy on his phone didn’t ask if all ok, mains average to be fair food was not that bad service non existent well overpriced mains £15 certainly not worth the money won’t go back can’t see it surviving long shame

Soy un ceoliaco, lo que sí entiendo es un poco doloroso para algunos establecimientos, pero llamé con anticipación para explicar mi condición y me aseguraron que había mucho en el menú que podía comer. Sin embargo, mi experiencia fue completamente diferente. No pude comer ningún entrante debido a que no estaba libre de gluten o estaba contaminado, así que tuve que comer una ensalada. Me aconsejaron que comiera el shish de pollo con arroz, que desafortunadamente se sirvió con pan de pita, por lo que no pude comerlo debido a la contaminación cruzada. Lamentablemente, una comida muy decepcionante en general, ¡sin mencionar que es un lugar arriesgado para comer si eres un ceoliaco! !

Era una noche muy calurosa cuando visitamos y mi amigo y yo dijimos que nos sentíamos como si estuviéramos de vacaciones.Encantador comedor relajado con un gran servicio.Daniel fue nuestro servidor y fue muy amable y educado.Estos muchachos hacen TODAS sus propias salsas y después de felicitar al tartar, el gerente vino a agradecerme, lo que fue muy agradable.Recomiendo encarecidamente el kalimar, todos los shishes y por favor, ¡pruebe el baklava con helado! ! ! !Volveré. Realmente agradable tener este lugar en mi puerta.

Comida fría y cara. Tal vez fue porque eran las 10 pm del lunes por la noche pero se fue a casa con hambre. Decepcionante ya que había oído cosas buenas sobre este lugar. No volveré a ir, me temo.

We visited last night for the first time. We chose vegetarian starters and main courses which were delicious as was the baklava which we finished off with. Great quality produce cooked with expertise and great care. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. I have visited many restaurants in the Stroud area and have to say this is the first that has exceeded expectations. I have to thank the staff who were extremely helpful and sympathetic this morning when I phoned after realising I had lost my wallet last night. Fortunately a kind person handed in at nearby pub which we visited after the meal. I most highly recommend Efes Grill to all. We will be back.

I took visiting cousins to Efe's for lunch. We were not sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The felafel and moussaka we chose were of top quality, piping hot, tasty and served with very fresh salad. Desserts were also spot on. The proprietor stopped by our table a couple of times to make sure we were happy; he was friendly but not at all intrusive. Decor was pleasant and seating comfortable. We did ask for the music volume to be turned down a notch, as all of us are getting a little hard of hearing; the staff complied willingly and immediately. Free turkish delight with the bill. Altogether an agreeable experience.

We had a delicious meal here - wonderfully flavoured food and even better than I remember having in Turkey! Very friendly waiter and good service too. I'll be returning any time soon.

We have been meaning to visit Efes since it opened. It turns out that is owned by the same family that used to run the superb Grill Turkish restaurant in Cheltenham which closed a couple of years ago.

I took 2 friends from London for dinner, and they both loved the food and friendly staff. I had been there once before, and enjoyed the food, and on both occasions the owner spoke to all the diners, which I thought was lovely.

Took my husband and daughter to this lovely Turkish restaurant - excellent mixed meze and then grilled mains. We’ve had some lovely holidays in Turkey and it was great to relive some of the delicious food (and efes beer). The staff were really friendly too. Will definitely go back.

Easily the best food I’ve had out for ages. Lovely vegetarian options, huge portions of fresh delicious food. The kids loved it. You really should give it a go!

Visited Stroud for lunch with a friend & found this place unexpectedly. We both love Turkish food & this is the best I've found in the UK! Tasteful low key decor with lots of colorful turkish lamps on ceiling. Food was amazing & beautifully presented - I'm vegetarian & had a great mixed mezze (hot & cold). They have a separate section on menu for veggies inc mousakka & a fab sounding 'casserole'. Good value as lunch menu was slightly cheaper than evening prices.

Six of us visited Efes on Saturday night for dinner at 7.30pm; we left at 10.00pm having only had and been offered 2 courses. It was such a shame as the food and atmosphere was great, but the service, whilst being very friendly, left a lot to be desired.

Being a lover of Turkish food in general imagine my glee at discovering this gem in the heart of Stroud! Lovely place with traditional lanterns and ambience. The lunchtime menu had a good choice and was priced at under £10 for most dishes which were complete as they were all served with salad and rice etc. We chose the mixed meze which was amazing, followed by the lamb kofta and the chicken skewers. Whilst the meze was very impressive, we felt the lamb and chicken needed a sauce as overall both dishes were on the "dry" side. Next time we will ask for one! Hot bread was also served with the lunch. The bill was accompanied by two clean up towels plus two pieces of Turkish delight. Presentation here is of a high standard. So overall, very enjoyable and would definitely go again, but only for lunch! On reading the dinner menu I was a little surprised at the high cost for main courses £13-£15, making a meal for two rather expensive!

Went for a birthday celebration ... fantastic food! Clean food not a chip in sight! Plenty of vegetarian options. We had mix girl with kofte lamb and chicken shush, chicken wings rice salad ... they will box up what you can’t eat! Delicious! Worth the money!

I visited Efes for the first time on Saturday night with three friends. The restaurant was packed, including a 50th birthday party group, but the service was nevertheless efficient and friendly and the staff were unfazed with the number of customers.

I actually feel sorry for the woman that wrote a bad review. I go to Turkey 6 times every year & stay for long periods of time I’m more than qualified to comment that the food at Efes Grill was fantastic & totally on par with what I eat when I’m in Turkey. Considering Efes grill has to use products from England the authenticity is spot on. To say this restaurant used tinned food is an insult & disrespectful & I would question the true motive of the bad review as it’s totally unfounded. I can’t recommend this place enough. Go try for yourselves & see that I’m right. I’m so glad I’ve found the place

Wonderful evening with our friends,excellent Turkish food,attentive friendly staff,good beer. The food was plentiful,the atmosphere was warm. We will be returning to sample other delights from the menu.

Went here for a family get together, 3 adults 2 children. Food was good, service good and we had a very pleasant evening. Having visited Turkey it was much as I expected. Not a huge range but the meals were all good and portions generous. Personally I would avoid the Turnib soft drink a curious mixture of beetroot and chilli at a guess, but otherwise all good!

Booked a large party of 12 adults and 2 small toddlers. Excellent food and service wide choices highly recommended

Out first experience of this fantastic restaurant and we will. Definitely visit again. The food was authentic and reminded me of some great times in Istanbul. I would 100% recommend and definitely come again.

I have never eaten in a Turkish restaurant before, so I did not know what to expect. Having been born and raised in Stroud I find it disgraceful that someone would comment on feeling sorry for me eating in this restaurant. I have known the owners for some 20 years. They also own Fifteen and Milanos and I have eaten in both cafes for the past 20 years. I have never had a bad meal EVER - I served my country for 33 years and travelled the World and ate in some very fine establishments, which have included the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Jong which was at that time considered the very best in the World. Please don’t listen to one persons view who has tried to stain what is one of the very best families I have ever met in my entire life. They pride themselves on cleanliness, great food and taste. If you were to ever have a problem, they would only be too glad to help. They cater for all people, not just the Stroud lot. I also know many families who only eat in their establishments because it is not only the best in Stroud it is some of the best food in the County. There are some very sad people in this World who feel the need to slate EXTREMELY HARD WORKING PEOPLE & TRY TO RUIN WHAT IS SOME BEAUTIFUL ESTABLISHMENTS- As for the Stroud People that I am one of - We are extremely lucky and privileged to share in such wonderful experiences with family and friends. I truly feel sorry for the one individual who says they feel sorry for several thousand of us - Who is sorry for Who ? Anyone outside of Stroud please just find out for yourself the quality of food and the warm welcome. Remarkable and honest. Make your own mind up

We visited here just before New Year. It was very quiet (as was the whole town). The menu was easy to understand and there was plenty of choice.

What a joy to now have a Turkish restaurant in Stroud. Very comfortable and relaxing, love the lamps! Our starters and mains were extremely good. The desserts - Baklava, and Yogurt with Honey and Pistachios - were simply gorgeous. This restaurant deserves to do well, looking forward to returning soon.

This is a great local Turkish restaurant: excellent authentic Turkish cuisine, reasonable prices and great service. Kids and adults equally welcome and made to feel at home. Heartily recommended both for families and couples.

My wife and I, plus two friends dined at Efes this Wednesday evening. We found the dining area warm and inviting with the same beautiful lighting as in 15 across the road. Our waiter was charming and efficient and we also received a very warm welcome Hussein, the owner. The food, all three courses, was fabulous and beautifully presented. If you’re local to Stroud, please give this wonderful little Turkish a try, you’ll not be disappointed.

We ate here midweek, and chose one cold and one hot mezze platter share between 4 of us. A great selection of food arrived, all of it was tasty and the service was great. We stayed quite late (the last to leave) having a few drinks but never felt like they were trying to get rid of us. Would recommend to anyone.

Went in on a recommendation tonight after a lovely evening at the Stroud Goodwill Evening. Had the starter Mezze for two which was superb and then shares a lovely lamb main. Staff also very efficient and very friendly. Recommended !

What a delicious meal we just had! So nice to be able to get something different and tasty to eat in Stroud. We are big fans of Turkish food, so picked some of our favourite things. The sucuk (grilled sausage) starters was one of the best I have ever had, and the lamb betji kebab, with fabulous tomato sauce and thick yoghurt was right up there too. Suzie's chicken shish was perfectly cooked and served with authentic Turkish bread. Presentation was excellent and service was immaculate. Tip : if you never tried Salgam now's your chance to buy it in Stroud. This peppery salty turnip and carrot juice makes a great aperitif over ice. Exciting drink to match the exciting food on offer.
