Oak At Kingshill in Stroud

We went for Sunday lunch and even though it was not that busy the food was very slow at coming out. The meat itself was superbly cooked but the accompanying sides were poor. Waxy, reheated, chewy potatoes and heavy Yorkshire puddings. Decor of the place looks very dated and tired and it kind of can't decide whether it's a pub or a restaurant. Staff were lovely but won't be going back as there are better options around.

Just had dinner there tonight. Chose one of the specialties - the roast chicken and wild mushrooms. It was divine - beats the French by my taste. My 8 years old says it's her favourite restaurant and we go there often. She usually has the sirloin beef or chicken gujons. We had the marshmallows for pudding. It was great fun to roast them by ourselves. Great taste, great presentation and serving. Can't recommend enough.

Friendly, lovely staff and tasty food. The only underside to this place is the overall design. They would really benefit by a considered refurbishment to give the place some atmosphere.

Food was amazing albeit quite expensive, the service was amazing. Main point lacking was that it feels like walking into someone's lounge rather than a pub, very open and not cosy, quite bright and the furniture and whole place had no character at all

Genuinely one of the nicest roasts I’ve had. We were a decent sized party of 14 booked for an early Sunday lunch. Among our group were 4 children. Everyone enjoyed the food and the kids were allowed to enjoy themselves in the room to the side of the main pub area. I’d recommend this pub to anybody looking for a reasonably priced, well presented Sunday roast, it was genuinely lovely. We’ll go back. Thankyou.

Lovely friendly service, nothing is too much trouble and will happily tweak or substitute menu items. Delicious Vegan food options available too (photo of Beetroot Wellington), inc decaf tea/coffee and party milk. Nice decor, pleasant atmosphere, tidy, great garden especially for kids. Good accessible toilet with a hand dryer that accrual fires your hands and isn't too hard on the ears. Accessible entrance with no steps into pub. Will definitely be going again

Ordered a pint of Bristol and was charged £6.50 - went up fir a 2nd and was served by a different person but this tome was charged £6. I pointed out that I was charged £6,50 previously and was told " it wasn't me" rather than address the point. Didn't want to waste my breath for 50p. !!!!!

Had a delicious Sunday lunch here today, really enjoyed it and reasonably priced too. Would definitely go back!

Great service, beer and really excellent food. We had mussels as a shared starter (tasty, large and perfectly cooked), steak (with extra veg instead of potato gratin), an enormous beef beef cheek and churros as a shared dessert. All dishes were superbly tasty!

I was so pleased with a previous visit that I have been back a few times, and it never disappoints. An excellent selection of drinks and amazing food. Really easy parking, clean and fresh. I do enjoy visiting this watering hole, and now make regular visits. A really good place for nice food, worth going out of my way, the fish dishes are remarkable.

Great service and cannot fault the lady who served us. Food was poor however. Checked Website before we went but that did not match what was on offer! Kids food was OK. I had a Fritto, average for the £9 I paid. My wife had the muscles, the sauce they were served in was inedible. Shame because this place has real potential.

Ordered blackcurrant and lemonades got blackcurrant and soda so asked to change it got new one syrup had gone in pump informed staff so left as others had drunk their drinks 😒

I had an absolutely delicious whole plaice with snails in garlic butter with crispy mange tout and sugar snap peas. This was followed by an equally scrumptious chocolate soufflé. As usual, a real pleasure to eat here. Looking forward to the tasting menu on August 4th.

Really interesting vegetarian and vegan menu. Enjoyed the jackfruit drumsticks with Korean BBQ sauce and Keralan Cauliflower Pasty. Meat and fish options were good too. Decent beers and friendly service. Plus carved elephants in the garden!

Love this place. Local to me. Food is always great. Staff are so friendly and the cleanliness is really good. Can't do enough for you without being overbearing.

Highly recommend the Oak at Kingshill in Dursley for their food. Just had an amazing starter of scallops, followed by an incredible slow cooked pork belly roast and then a beautiful strawberry trifle. Would recommend to anyone looking for great food, chilled atmosphere and friendly staff. Thank you so much! 😊

First visit and came away happy with a belly full of ale and good food. > interesting choice of real ales which were well kept; > original menu; I went for a smoked salmon flatbread meal (lunch menu) which was really tasty; chef knows his stuff; > nothing was too much trouble for the staff, all the more impressive considering we were a group of ten; > interior was well presented with nice decor, garden was nice enough but could be a touch neater in places, maybe consider getting a good gardener in once a fortnight. Likewise the car park could use a bit of tidying up, consider that this is the first point of contact with the pub for some; > kids’ playground was good and provides some relief for those afflicted by offspring. Loved the dead tree carving; > prices about average but reasonable VFM considering the quality of the food.

Food and welcome were excellent, food service a little slow, but was worth waiting for.

Last night I attended an event that was held at the Oak at KingsHill. It was a great evening and was the perfect location for any event. The staff were amazing and the landlord and landlady were on hand to ensure that everything went according to plan. I would definitely highly recommend the Oak At Kinghill.

Mike, Becky and Rosie are outstanding. This is definitely a gastro pub with amazing foods, reasonable prices and a superb service. Thank you, this was a very lucky find! We'll be back!!!

I went to the slimming world group in the skittle alley, it's a nice room, easy access from the car park.

Chef has a great palate and reflected in the complex flavours. Mushroom gnocchi was outstanding with many mushroom varieties giving varied flavours and textures. Never been disappointed.

Great friendly staff and amazing food , big portions and perfectly cooked, they catered for 27 of us and not one complaint was aired. Top notch 👌

An excellent meal was served to our large group today by the friendly and helpful staff of the Oak at Kingshill.The Chef was lovely and was able to chat food with us after the meal. The Plum sorbet was amazing.

Nice for a chilled Sunday roast, the pork was outstanding, and we definitely couldn't finish it, so very generous portions!

Called in with our camper van, management very friendly let us stay overnight in their carpark they even offered us electrical hook up. unfortunately we were to late to to eat there but 3 takeaways next door, locals say food there is exlent so will be using this place a lot more

Just popped in for a pint but more of a restaurant than a pub.

Fantastic food and very obliging staff

The place may have been a 'pub' is yesteryear, but it has little appeal today. Just popped in for a quick pint on the way through and the Butty Bach was cloudy, but drinkable. Sat outside in the cold, but not as cold as it felt inside. Can't speak to the food. It's a clean functional place to eat with neat toilets.

After some pretty average experiences at this pub over the years we didn't think we'd come back, but after seeing recent reviews and that the pub was under new management, we thought we'd give it a go, and the O.A.K did not disappoint! Felt totally different inside, really fresh and clean (almost too clean and minimal actually!) and a really great first impression with a lovely welcome. Food was top notch; great menu, first quality food, and kids cleaned their plates which speaks volumes! Will certainly come back and definitely recommend you come check it out, support our local businesses!

Went out to the oak at kings hill for a birthday meal, this was the first time since they have transformed it into a lovely stylish very modern place. It feels very fresh and clean and all the staff are helpful and polite. Then we get to the food! Well what can I say it is on the next level every aspect from starter to desert looked and tasted amazing. It was very refreshing to have some fine dining on the menu, even the orange juice and lemonade was really good. And to top it off they give me a lovely happy birthday message on the side of my warm chocolate brownie and Icecream. I would like to say well done to the whole team there. You are all doing an amazing job.

Took the kids down for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely fantastic, the roast beef was delicious, enjoyed every single bite and can't wait to go back.

After reopening (I had never been before so can't conpare), they have clearly put thought in to their menu. Flavouring for the Korean styled dish that I ordered was amazing. Staff were able to explain dishes on menu in terms of dietary restrictions and further details.q

The new landlord and lady are a lovely couple and always give a warm welcome. Really enjoying the new improvement can't wait to try the new menu.

Just had a delicious meal of venison & partridge. One of the best meals we've had for a while with attentive service.

Delicious, Delightful, Perfect. We have been twice and each time tried different items from the menu and both times the food took a very short time to come out of the kitchen. The first time we went, my partner had the roast beef Sunday lunch which is super tender and cuts like butter and I had the O.A.K burger which is everything a burger should be. It isn't greasy or gristly in the slightest and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and of great quality. To top it off the lady serving us who is also the co-owner of this wonderful establishment provides a very friendly, hassle free and personable service no matter how busy it is. The second time we went (less than a week later as we enjoyed our time here so much) I had the Goats Curd Gnocchi and my partner had the O.A.K burger. The Gnocchi was divine and one of the tastiest dishes I think I have ever eaten. I normally would not eat most of the vegetables in this dish but my plate was completely clean by the end of the meal, it was that delicious. We were then lucky enough to try the homemade ice cream. The chocolate ice cream is more like a rich chocolate mousse in flavour and the rose ice cream is heavenly with no hint of any synthetic flavourings. I would recommend this pub to anyone for any occasion! The atmosphere, service and food are simply fantastic!
