The quality of Turkish cuisine is commendable, however, the cutlery provided is diminutive in size. Additionally, the cost of beverages is elevated, and the quantity of meat served has been gradually decreasing with each visit.

Effes is an amazing experience with food, granted we only got the special but that in itself is a pretty delicious feat, all the meat is properly seasoned with the right amount of spice, catering for all taste levels. This place was recommended to me and since the 1st time I went, Ive been about 6 more times after that, and I would tell everyone who lives nearby to pay this establishment a visit, you wont regret it

Great food, great service, nice ambiance. Definitely worth saving some space for dessert which is not easy as everything tastes so good!!! I was torn between Turkish coffee or Turkish tea to go with my dessert as both are equally nice. Decided in favour of the Turkish tea to compliment the backlava I chose today. Both, dessert and the hot drink were delicious! Would happily go again. Highly recommend!

Just love this place! Food and hospitality is always top notch and extremely friendly.

Great food and very relaxed atmosphere. We had the seabass and seabream fish which was to perfection. We had rice with our fish and that was very tasty. The rest of out party has the chicken and lamb shish and all said the food was very tasty. For dessert I had the baklava which was very good and others had a variety of icecreams. Feedback on the icecream was they were OK. Service was good throughout our meal.

Went there on a Friday evening (1900) and had a very friendly greeting when we arrived. Food was delicious ( Chicken Princess and Mixed kebabs) and very filling. I was unable to finish it all so it was wrapped up to take away and was still really nice once home.

Good food before we flew out on our holiday from Gatwick. The staff could’ve been more friendly.

Sadly the food wasn't great, the main was very oily. We didn't get the main we wanted as they didn't have it prepped 😭 (only two main vegetarian options). The waiter kept hanging around telling jokes which was slightly annoying 😞 and it was very expensive.

Absolutely love the food it it is so nice . Have been to other Turkish restaurants in town but this is by far the best . The service was a little slow but when mentioned to the manager we were given free drinks 🍹. Thank you we had a wonderful evening

Had a works Christmas function here, was good (but not amazing), service and atmosphere were ok.

The meal was well presented and after some negotiation we were sat where we asked to be seated, the food was good, just a little expensive

Lovely Turkish restaurant just outside town centre. Menu choice is superb, food really nice and service very good, waiter was very humorous and had us all laughing. Recommend if you’re in the area.

We had a family Birthday arranged and the food as well as Cake arrangements were top notch. However one incident did leave a sour taste in our mouth. The birthday boy ( my nephew) had insisted to pay. When he made the card payment he was told that the payment had not gone through so naturally he made another attempt. This time it went through. However he noticed on his phone app that it seemed that two payments had been made. When he questioned this to the waiter, the waiter seemed to take offence and responded rather harshly & rudely. Saying things like we are a known restaurant we won’t take extra money, prove to me this is the case. He was shown this on the app as well. I checked it too and saw the two payment. Now these things often happen with card payments & thankfully one payment was returned by visa but my point is that the waiter did not need to be so aggressive in his response upsetting my nephew, who kept saying I don’t mean to argue but I’m just pointing out the double payment. Like I said a otherwise great evening was dampened by the waiter’s uncalled rude behaviour that left a bad taste in the mouth of the family present there.

My wife and I ate at EFES late one evening following our return from an overseas trip, having landed at Gatwick Airport. We love Turkish food and although the atmosphere in the restaurant was rather plain, the food was fantastic/plentiful and the service friendly and efficient.

Ich war erst bissel skeptisch - der Laden war leer. Dann fasste ich Mut und wurde dafür belohnt: exzellentes Essen, riesige Portionen, moderate Preise. Ich hatte gemischtes Kebap mit Reis und Salat. Großartig und schmackhaft. Heute abend wollen die Kollegen essen gehen - da schlag ich das gleich mal vor.

Busy restaurant, good to see, however the food was just disgraceful . We had a party of 7 and Sent back 3 cold meals. By time they had sorted, rest of party had finished their meals. No concussion on bill for bad service and cold meals. Won't go again

Drinks took forever. Took absolutely ages to get a menu. Waiters were rude. Food was ok but completely overshadowed by the disgusting customer service. Will not go back or recommend to anyone.

1st time at this restaurant,,,,,,,,and what an experience..]from the moment we arrived until we left the level of service was amazing. We were shown to our table near to the open kitchen where the team were preparing what turned out to be delicious meals. Our starters were Calamari and Grilled halloumi parcels. Calamari can sometimes be tough and rubbery, but this was melt in your mouth with a crispy and grease free batter. The halloumi parcels were absolutely divine and both dishes were beautifully presented, and served with some Turkish bread, dips and olives. Main course consisted of Chicken Shish with yoghurt and Adana Kofte with yoghurt.....both served with rice and 1 side order of fries, again beautifully presented. Both meats were succulent and tender and they was plenty of food served. The meal was rounded off with Baklava Our thanks to Izi who made us feel very welcome and to the team that served us Have already booked again to return

Awful customer service. The waiter was serious and miserable since the beginning. When he was bringing the food to the table I asked one of my friends in Spanish to move her phone away to accommodate the plates -as he was standing with 3 dishes-. The waiter then was rude to me, telling me off and escalated a situation for no reason. He started to impersonate me by saying “quita quita!! Not good. I’m not going to steal it! I can understand Spanish”. We were like WTF??! Nobody ever called him or insinuated any of that! All I said to my friend was “quítalo” which directly translates to “put it away” and he made up all that drama in his head and said that I was calling him a thief! I do understand there was a misunderstanding, clearly, but the way he managed the situation was extremely poor. If anything I was trying to help him by making space over the table! The whole scenario was extremely awkward and uncomfortable. We weren’t sure if he was joking at the beginning. He was also rude afterwards when he came to collect the plates and said: “are you finished? I’m going to ask you again in English. Are you finished? I don’t want you to be upset”. What a piece of work… and he had the guts to ask for a tip in the end!! All of my friends who were at the restaurant that day and myself work in customer service and it’s clear to us this waiter (Marius I think his name was) needs a lot of training! It’s a shame because the food wasn’t bad, but the customer service is rather awful.

We were met with indifference on arrival and that continued throughout the evening. It took an age to order any drinks and even longer to get any. Even then half of them were wrong. To be fair I think there were some new staff but nobody looked like they wanted to be there. The food was marginally better but nothing special. If you are thinking of going somewhere for Turkish food, go somewhere else!

The food here is absolutely lovely. The Efes Special is particularly good! If this review was just for the food, it would be 5 star. Unfortunately, it is the experience of the male serving staff that is the problem. I've now been to Efes twice and have had the same experience both times. Most of the male serving team (one older man in particular) seem to think they can talk to young female customers however they like. They are extremely patronising and inappropriately flirty. They seem to think I have come out for dinner to listen to their 'comedy' and I find them really intrusive when I'm trying to have a nice meal out with friends and family. If you're a man, you'll have a lovely experience here, I'm sure.

Strange experience.. Waiter seemed confused that the Hummus starter we ordered was actually wanted before main meal. It didn'"t come with anything, so assume you're expected to eat it by the spoonful. Flatbread had been distributed amongst our large group with olives and some dips, so we used that, but not enough for the amount of Hummus. The vegetable kebab was veg in a dish swimming in a tomato based sauce, that I can't describe, floury perhaps. It contained haloumi which wasn't listed and the veg it did list was in short supply being mostly onion.. Would I return..... very unlikely

They tried to ruin our daughters birthday party last minute by threatening to cancel it if we did not order a certain amount of food! The rusty blonde hair lady in the glasses claims to be a worker but one of the waiters said that...

This is a large restaurant and it was very busy but despite this the service was excellent and prompt and the food was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Horrible experience. The staff couldn’t care less and the food was average. I prefer the kebab shop any day. My main looked like a pile of dog food. Music is so loud that I couldn’t hear anything my husband was saying.

Went to Efes on a spare of the moment thing. Walked in told to take a seat so we liked the look of the 2 yellow sofas by the fireplace so went to sit down to be told it is the "Bosses" Table and no one can sit there. We thought it was a joke and went to sit down but was again told No you can not sit there its the Bosses Table! Maybe put a reserved sign on it. In the end we sat at another table and I ordered an Efes beer which I love in Turkey however here it was Flat and for the rest of the evening I had a chronic stomach ache. Having worked in bars maybe the lines need a clean. Won't be back anytime soon!

This aint just a kebab like normal places this is the best quality of kebabs the flavour and taste 10/10 not to keen on rice like pudding rice 🤢 they need Basmati rice for English taste but I get chips instead now but that fresh salad nice and actually tastes so fresh with the combo if you want a nice meal out that's somthing different then this would be a place to try 😋

The food is really tasty, and a good portion size prices have also gone up since my last visit. Customer service isn't great staff rather stand around than tend to their customers, we had to keep calling them over. For what you pay the service should be better .Mr and my partner shared a platter for £36 I'd recommend just don't expect great service.

Normally good. Long time customer for years. Love the lamb chops. However, got severe food poisoning from their Chicken Princess on 28/10/21. Only had a 1/4 of the dish, which I normally love. Pretty sure it was the double cream that was gone off. Took me out for 3+ days. Only response I got was a panicked "sorry" when we phoned them up, no offer of money back or any other recompense. Won't be going out of my way to order or visit again, which is a shame.
