Eden Bar in County Durham

While the atmosphere was... well, interesting, the sticky carpet was a constant reminder that perhaps cleanliness wasn't a top priority. It was as if the bar had been the site of a particularly messy cocktail party that had gone on for decades.

I use to work in the lodge and glass collect in JOE COOLS when i was at school.I loved it it was like a family and the regulars where a good crowd.Have not been back to peterlee for years but it brings back memories looking at the photos.

Always a giggle in the Eden. Cheap ale and a good selection of spirits.

Could do with a lick of paint but apart from that it's okay

A favourite with locals. It just needs upgrading.

Reasonably had a leach leading to a unpleasant damp smell. Needs some money spent on it.

Wouldn't have given the one star if able. Probably the dirtiest pub I've ever been in. Even the infamous Royal Arms in same town was never that bad.

Great selection of music and drinks but my shoes kept sticking to the carpet.

If you want to have a dance after a night in a local working man's club, this is the place to be. Particularly if you enjoy music such as - cotton eye Joe, flip and fill.. Its a versatile bunch of tunes to suit most over 50's. The owners are keen to keep you in as long as possible and seem to have applied extra stick to their already sticky flooring. Good price for drinks though.

Cheapest pub in peterlee and most staff friendly

Good for a game of pool and a pint. Food is ok. Parking is very limited. Atmosphere is ok. I would go back for a few drinks but not for food.

Just called in for a drink with some family and friends who were in the area. Dirty hovel that should be closed down. Never again!

OK place to go, the chefs cooking is spot on cheap pints what more can ya ask for

Rotten service, no interest from barman, slightly upset when asked him for no head on pint. Music too loud. Tattooed barman shows tendency to be aggressive if asked for any kind of service!

A majority of people belittle the place but the staff are brilliant and any trouble is dealt with immediately. They can only work with what they are given.

1st time I've been in this pub ,passing through waiting for bus to Sunderland,all seems canny friendly locals,good beer ,what else do you need!! IL only not give it 5stars bcoz of smell ,but hey ! That's the punters ! Lol music on juke box is 1st class for me ! 👍

Dirty smelly place full of unpleasant people, cheap drink but the quality of drink is terrible

I would have given this a better rating although I don't think I could go as far as 'very good'. Better than average though. The entrance to the place is dire, but go downstairs into the lounge room for a sunday lunch and the food and service are pretty good. Have visited with family the last couple of sundays while i was in the area and the food is decent quality and plentiful. Worth a try for a reasonable sunday lunch, and I would definitely go back.

Never changed in over 20 years really could do with some tlc

Gone down hill more than usual. Underage drinkers on the weekend. Rude staff. Dirty tables.. No sure if the alcohol sold is as labelled on the bottles. No food when I was in. I love down market places. Usually good music,good craic, great people. This aint it.

£2.20 for amstel would drink in a junkies house for those prices

Visited this so called bar with some friends and instantly regretted it.The carpet is a sticky quagmire of old beer and anything else that the customers want to ingrain into it.The toilets should be condemned under health and safety regulations and have no facilities to dry your hands, but presumably due to not many people actually washing after their ablutions.Definitely a place to give a very wide berth to.

To be fair I was on a bar crawl with workmates on 'Mad Friday' so the review is probably not of a normal Friday. Inside carpet was sticky yeurccch! Outside decking was lethally slippery. However staff were quick to get folk served in the right order, prices were exceptionally reasonable and there was no trouble despite it being just before Christmas and everyone full of festive spirit, beer and wine!! It's clearly an honest place - Id rather pay a fair price like they charge here than an inflated price where they've got to recoup their costs on a new carpet!!! It's a fun place, great atmosphere but its not dripping with luxury - and this IS a compliment!

The Eden bar. I found the Eden about 2 years ago and return whenever I return to Peterlee as it is across from the Bus station. What I found was a mix of very friendly people combined with a staff that enjoy where they are what they do. The crowd is a good mix between the older and a younger all appear to be welcome. I encourage all when traveling through stop at the Eden Bar and enjoy conversation with the good people of Peterlee. And the drinks are cheap.

Great local pub very popular nightlife. Can't say I'd go in sober though ;-)

Beware Ladies, It's not the kind of place for respectable females over 40! Bouncers go over board, without proper explanation, they take the word of a jealous skank!! (Wouldn't have gave 1 star, but wouldnt allow me to post without it!)

Great pub friendly staff gets really busy on a weekend and the food is great during the day and £1.85 a pint can't beat it

The local dive and only entered by people wanting to get heavily drunk on cheap nasty drinks. No one has a care about spilling their drink on you, however everyone is very friendly and apologetic. All this can create a brilliant atmosphere when cheese pop classics are played by the 'dj' and belted out by the collection of drunken revelers dancing on the sticky floor.
