What an appalling first impression when you visit The Eddystone. Whitsand Bay is supposed to be an area of outstanding beauty. But not if you are visiting the Eddystone.

We had lunch here and although the cafe had run out of sausages, the chicken nuggets, scamp and calamari were good, as were the chips. The ice cream was delicious and did not melt on what was a hot day.

We booked a surf school lesson for my son at the beach. With the cafe next door it was the obvious place to stop and spend money while my son had his lesson. We put our bags at a beach picnic table outside and my son began to get changed for his lesson. The owner came out shouting that he didn’t get on with the surf school and we were not welcome. He then went around interrogating the other customers asking if they were connected to the surf school. I had intended to spend the hour of my sons lesson with some lunch and a drink from the cafe. However the rude and aggressive manner of the owner put me right off the idea. It’s not a customers fault if business owners have disagreements with each other and a polite request to move and an explanation would have probably meant they would have retained my custom.

We spent four nights at the property and had a great time even though weather was a mixed bag. The place was reallly warm, cosy and well equipped and had a great shower. The bunk beds were quite small for an adult but the sofa bed was really comfortable. Great place for family time and the beach and views were stunning.

Simple cafe selling good chips and decent snacks. Lovely vibe - very relaxed. Basic toilet. Overlooking the most lovely beach - not at all overcrowded. Very long walk down to the cafe and long walk back up.

Best cup of tea we've had from such an establishment in years. Fully sated for the trek back up the cliffs. We will all be back again :)

The location, friendliness and fresh well prepared food are what will make you want to return again and again to this charming beach cafe. Well worth the walk down the cliff. It is steep in places but if you take your time (and you will definitely want to stop a few times on the way up and down to look at the breathtaking view) it's fine. We are quite fit and can do it easily but you still want to stop and gaze! Don't be tempted to just sit at the top. You will really be missing out! Well deserved praise to Nina and Jim. We will see you again soon.

Lovely beach but don't ask to use the cafe toilet unless you've purchased a five course meal and have shares in the company!!! 😲😂

Amazing location, food, service and above all, the people that own it! Perfect for both families and restless surfers! This was my third time here and it is much better than many Greek islands !

Unbelievable location (we stopped in the Beachcombers Cottage) and to be so close to the wildness of the ocean makes the walk up and down the cliff worth every single step! Who wants a boring get away where you can park right outside the door? Stopping at Eddystone makes you work but pays with rewards that no money can buy... breathlessness is temporary but each walk up/down gives memories that will last a lifetime :) Thank you so much Jim and Nina for making our stay amazing and Lisa’s birthday extra extra special.. we would love to come back (if you’ll have Daisy back again.. she loves ‘her’ private beach!). Best wishes and hope to see you again soon Mark, Lisa and Daisy (woof)

This is a small cafe hut, on the beach, just a few tables outside They do great coffee and excellent chips. Service a little slow. Great that they are concerned for the cleanliness of the beach. Definitely worth a visit.

This is really a small beach hut right on the beach near Whitsand Bay. It's got very basic facilities, at the level of a kettle and a fridge. Very seasonal, and splits its time between making cups of tea and booking surf lessons. Just a very basic hut, right on the beach. If that is all you need, it might work well for you. No other options in the location, so what choice do you have ?

Lovely little cafe on the side of a cliff. Good fried breakfasts. Service is a little confused with orders being duplicated due to a slightly disorganised routine but staff are friendly and polite. Would be better if they numbered the tables and not the customer.

We were on holiday and ended up eating here 3 times. We had our dog who typically was nervous in eating places so we never bothered eating out, we were given a table in the corner and asked for the same one every time which they obliged as she was settled, it helped that the staff were all so helpful and the food was so nice, would highly recommend the Pityme Inn and we will visit again, it made our holiday

Very very busy with two ladies serving in a stressful atmosphere and yet they were great, especially Helen. Well done! Coffee was great and seasonal berry slice.

Had a lovely meal,Rump Steak& Croft Burger, then sweets to finish. Great food and service. Shame the weather wasn't a little better as we would have sat outside after our meal.

The staff were very friendly. The hot drinks were alright and the cakes were alright. They didn't rush us. The whole atmosphere was really nice and lovely. I didn't have to raise my voice to speak to my boyfriend who has a hearing impairment which is a hearing aid.
