We booked a table a few days before we were due to visit (yesterday 22/8/24) on the automated booking system, this was confirmed and indeed the day before we were due to arrive we received another automated request asking to confirm attendance, which I duly did. I also stated that the meal was to celebrate our daughter's A level results and University acceptance and asked if they did cocktails. We received no reply. When we arrived the one barman was serving a family who had just turned up and I heard him say to them that there was at least an hours wait for food. When he served us I told him that we had rebooked a table, he checked our name only to tell me that a table wasn't allocated but we could "sit over there somewhere" ( no cutlery etc was on the tables) pointing to a crowded area. I asked him if we would have to wait for over an hour for food and he confirmed this so we said we were no happy and duly left. We went somewhere else to eat so the night was completely ruined. When we got home later, I received a cancellation confirmation with an added note saying "we hope to see you again soon" Well they wont be

Visited one evening on our family holiday to Devon. Lovely pleasant welcome (dog friendly 👍🏻) and super friendly service. Hosted brilliantly. Starters were amazing, our family had a good selection ranging from prawn cocktail to squid rings and the seafood basket. Couldn't fault it. Portion size was great. Flavour was superb. Mains were equally as good. Large portion sizes and great value for money. Well worth a visit and would thoroughly recommend.

Another absolutely banging roast with loads of meat, crackling and all the trimmings. My daughter had local Gammon, Egg and Chips which was excellent too. Then sitting on the sun soaked patio surrounded by fields and horses, enjoying a GnT (us..not the horses). This pub has been through some ups and downs but the boys Chris and John and their lovely friendly staff, Abbie, Alex, Miranda, Sam and Charlie are doing an amazing job of bringing it back to it’s best in a tough climate. They will make sure you have a great experience so if you are visiting don’t miss out on this hidden gem and if you are local please support your pub because it is the heart of our village.

Went to Ebrington after hearing it had new owners and had been refurbished. I have really fond memories of the Ebby but was so disappointed with this visit. Where do I start. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant and front bar and it was very cold. The radiator next to where we were sitting was off. Then the menu. I cannot think of a more boring menu. If publicans are hoping to coax people back into their pubs then this isn't the way. Burgers x 3, fish and chips, scampi, ham egg and chips......I'm sure I read that t he owner was bringing a chef along with him so what has he concocted? Never felt so bored with th whole set-up and definitely will not be going back!!

We had Sunday lunch here while staying nearby. I was very pleasantly surprised with the veggie option of a mushroom and nut roast. You never know quite what to expect with veggie options, sometimes it is a grudging nod to 'weirdos who don't eat meat', other times you can tell some thought has gone into it. I'm pleased to say that at the 'Ebbie' the latter was the case. The accompanying vegetables were great and the apple crumble was superb. The staff were a cut above the usual too. All in all a very good lunch.

This ia nice pub in a pleasant village setting and with good car parking, Hopes were high when the new proprietors took over this establishment 12 months ago. The beer was well kept and a new menu with Asian bias was intriguing. The Malaysian chef was keen to make his presence felt, certainly knew his stuff and seemed keen to please. We looked forward to continuing great hospitality at the Ebby A year later, there's been an unfortunate decline. The chef seems to have departed since he has not put in an appearance lately and the standard of food has certainly dropped off - although the cost hasn't. Lets hope the proprietor recovers his mojo soon and gets things moving along once again but currently the pub is not great.

Dropped in for a quick lunch on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon and we were pleased to get a table outside on the terrace. Placed our lunch order with the barman from a limited, but adequate lunch menu. My son chose a burger and my wife and I chose toasted sandwiches, which were served with chips and salad. The food was good, however I thought the chips were brilliant. We only saw one staff member who was friendly and helpful. Overall, an enjoyable meal. PS - it was a very dog friendly pub

Thumbs up: food (4/5) / thumbs down: service (1/5) Sunday evening and I was scouring TripAdvisor for a pub in North Devon that offered a veggie roast. Rang this pub and asked for a table for one for a roast (I’d seen on their website that they do a nut roast). Was advised that there wouldn’t be a table available for another half hour. (Not a problem at all). Arrived 30 mins later at the time booked. Quaint old decor inside. Loads of tables free - I have no idea as to why I wasn’t able to be seated earlier. Went up to the bar and explained I’d booked a table for one. At this, the bartender smirked and told me to sit at any table that wasn’t reserved. Waitresses kept walking past but I had to call one in the end to ask for a menu. Turns out that there were a handful just a table or two away. No-one had bothered to point this out to me or offer me a one me despite waiting a while. Upon ordering (following another lengthy delay) I was advised that there were no more roasts available, including the nut roast. At this point, it was too late for me to go find another place to eat so I reluctantly looked at other veggie options on the menu. There weren’t too many other options but I opted for the bean enchiladas. The enchiladas themselves were delicious. The portion size was generous. Plenty of melted cheese, big dollop of sour cream and lots of rice too. It was a tasty, enjoyable meal but after I’d come specifically to this pub to have a roast, which I’d informed them of in advance when booking, I wasn’t overly impressed. Waitress was polite enough for the remainder of the evening though it felt more like lip service than genuine interest. Overheard a lengthy and sweary conversation between the staff in the bar area and by this point I actually felt uncomfortable having to go up to the bar to pay. Despite the tasty food, I found the service (particularly the barman, who had taken my booking call) so poor that I would not want to go back to this pub again.

We have called in the Ebrington Arms on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed the convivial atmosphere and first class friendly service from the bar staff. Today we decided to try the Sunday roast which we have heard so many good reports and I am pleased to say they were not unfounded - this one rates as the of the best Sunday roast I have tasted at any public house in a very long while. It was superbly cooked the roast potatoes were fantastic and the roast beef was excellent it was also a nice touch for the chef to come out of the kitchen to ask if everything was to our liking something which I think other establishments should take note of. Recently visited here on holiday. Steaks were perfect, had to request peppercorn sauce, no sauces offered. Sticky toffee pudding delicious but would be nice to have custard on offer. Had to send chicken supreme back due to some chicken having blood seaping out. The chef came out and actually argued with my pensioner mother that it was not undercooked and tried to convince us that it was a vein. The meal was replaced. Pub is dated and cold. Staff were friendly and the pub itself was nice also. We ordered cod in beer batter chips and peas and we were looking forward to it. What a let down. It looked nice enough on the plate, but on cutting into and tasting the fish it was not white fluffy and flaky, but flat thin grey and watery. The fillet looked like it was lost inside the batter and was awfull. It was definitely a frozen piece of fish that was defrosted maybe in the microwave then dunked in batter which had no taste either. Other food being served looked nice but ours was a right let down. Sorry for saying this, but being a coastal area, they should use fresh fish, and not something I can buy from a supermarket.

Came here for my birthday with my parents, younger brother, fiancé and new baby. The landlord is so welcoming and the crispy beef amd nachos were very nice. Can't wait to come back to this pub, it's certainly one of the best I've been to in the. U.K.

Back for our annual autumn break in Ilfracombe. Found this place one evening during our first visit, have been back ever since.Excellent selection of draught real ale, seem to always have Tribute on which can't be faulted. Tried Butcombe Bitter this time, being a new one on me. First class.Three of us ate, good choice from a smallish menu, a 30-40 min wait for the food but as it's all fresh we had no complaints. One had scampi - a generous portion, far more than the usual 8 (exact in other pubs!) pieces plus lovely chips, and they obliged with a change of the usual peas for carrots as our daughter requested (special diet). My wife had the chicken breast stuffed with brie, which she found excellent (she'd originally wanted the ham & leek pie from the specials board but the last had just gone). I had the lamb shank, served on herby mash with fresh veg. All were generous portions, which left us too full up for a sweet. So, a revisit which still doesn't disappoint. Lee and his team meet our expectations every time. Seek it out, it's only 100m off the main road in Knowle.

We had lunch here with my stepdaughter and her husband who have recently moved to this area. The food was brilliant, well cooked, lovely and hot and all home made. Very generous portions but we did manage a pudd. FOUR scoops of ice cream! Only ever had three in a pub before. Cannot fault the food here and excellent service. Hope to eat here again on our next visit.

We visited while on holiday, with friends who live locally. The food was lovely, I opted for a ploughmans which was humungous. The only thing i would say it would be nice presentation wise if the apple was cut up but it was delicious. My daughter loved her steak, the whole meal was gorgeous.....

First time we have visited but it won't be the last. Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely old world pub with excellent food. My husband is a retired chef & is quite critical but he said it was the best meal he had had in Braunton. Steak was tender, slow cooked pork lovely & the scampi was delicious. Thanks for a great meal.

We went here after reading all the favourable reviews. The waitress was really friendly and pub was welcoming. The food however, was pretty average. I had the pie, one son had the lamb shank and the other scampi. I honestly couldn't say anything was specifically wrong, but the food was nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps we have been spoilt by other meals we have had in this area.

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.

Inexpensive for Ilfracombe. Freshly cooked food, and great service. Good portions too. Recommended.

Lovely modern roomy lodges in a beautiful location. Breakfast choice was great, cooked breakfast very good & piping hot👍 Pub food also excellent, quick service, good choices. Most staff helpful & friendly. One member of staff who greeted us on arrival wasn't welcoming. Only a couple of minor things- rusty toilet roll holder which spoilt the rest of the very new bathroom & the shelf above sink is in the way. Suggestion - small fridge, there is room. Mirror near plug sockets. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Four of us popped in today and we were glad we did ! Looking through the window showed it was full but a table of four had just got up so we sat in their seats :) We all had the Breakfast at £11 each. Couldn’t fault the meal at all, plenty on the plate and locally sourced. Really good selection of coffee, tea and fresh orange 🍊 juice. Highly recommended Get a seat and order at the counter. Very pleasant polite service as well. Seating outside. Well done 👏👏
