I stopped at the cafe here briefly with my family intending to get hot drinks, lunch and feed our infant son. My husband sat at a table with our son while I went to use the restroom before ordering. I am heavily and very obviously pregnant so was quite in need at this point! The man behind the counter then proceeded to shout at me very loudly in front of the whole cafe that the toilet was for customer use only. I replied that yes I was a customer and pointed out my family sat at a table in the middle of the cafe. He then shouted that all the people in the queue there were waiting for the toilet too and I was honestly just confused and didn’t want to push in so returned to where my husband was sat thinking to wait until these people had used the bathroom. It didn’t take long to realise that these people were not waiting on the bathroom but were in the queue for the counter and I realised the man for some inexplicable reason just didn’t want me to use the toilet and/or wanted to embarrass me. Maybe he was having a bad day, I have no idea but we left immediately as I did not want to patronise this cafe with such an awful man working there and treating their customers so rudely for no reason. We drove a further ten minutes down the road and stopped at the cafe at Purdy lodge where we were able to use the facilities, get drinks and lunch and feed our son without being harassed by staff so more what you might expect of a service stop cafe experience! I’d advise skipping Lindisfarne and going to Purdy instead as the cafe is much better with a wider menu and a more friendly and professional atmosphere.

Nice food - poor prices. Super expensive. Bacon and sausage bun with a coffee. £7.90 , I would expect to not pay any more that £5 for this meal. Unfortunately i won't be going again, I can't afford it!

We have been here twice now, the first time was late on after a visit to walk the dogs further down on the beach. We arrived and just wanted a cold sandwich, the lady behind the counter was lovely and accommodated us and said she could make us a cheese salad sandwich and we wanted it to take away. The sandwich was lovely and well worth the money, so today 20/06/22, we decoded to take the dogs to the beach at Scremerston as we only live in Berwick, and we decided to call for some lunch, especially, after our last pleasant experience. Well, we went in and started to order our three meals, we ordered the all-day breakfast and my sister asked for a cheese salad sandwich and chips. And I was going to get the same. We got a gentleman serve us who said very abruptly you can have what's on the menu, I can do a portion of chips, what? The menu is limited for my sister and me as we don't eat meat which is fine as we chose to go there, I'm not complaining about that. But we didn't want anything heavy and what happened to the cheese sandwich, we ordered before? not sure this chap should serving with such an abrupt manner towards customers, so we cancelled the breakfast paid for the coffees but I was so starving and deflated at the place that I drank half and left, we won't be back as there is so many great eating places in the area, I would avoid so you don't feel like we did, and choose another outlet that will welcome your business and provide a welcoming, pleasant experience.

Went at 7am as doors opened. I was the only one in and didn’t feel welcome at all. Ordered myself a coffee and full English without looking at menu. Full English = 1 x sausage 1 x fried egg 1 x bacon Beans Shocked at end when I was asked to pay £18:95! Only solace was he gave me £1.10 back as change as he didn’t have any 5p left. At the time I thought “times must be tough and have to put prices up”. Actually (after looking at photos and menus online)… I think this place simply didn’t think I was local and tired to shaft me (which they did). I wouldn’t trust this cafe or “Andy” who runs it. I should have taken note when seeing the 5G conspiracy warning signs on arrival to the type of character that runs this place. Shame. Great location - could have been a good spot.

This place is a hidden gem. The food was great quality and excellent value. Other places nearby are charging far more but serving less. Staff were friendly and they are doing well with Covid regulations. Try it, you won't regret it.

Very rude staff who swore at me when asked to use the toilet. Very unpleasant and definitely won't be back. Staff need to learn some customer service. Extremely disappointing experience. I definitely would not recommend to anyone who values a bit of respect.

Was pleasantly surprised by this wee find. We were made to feel very welcome and service came with a smile. The Northumbrian breakfast was amazing value, cooked fresh and very tasty. The coffee was spot on and you could tell the server took pride in serving quality coffee. Highly recommend

Stopped here for a comfort break after driving for a couple of hours. Decided to have a coffee and scone before heading off again. I don't know what the brand of coffee was but it was thoroughly enjoyable. The warm mixed fruit scones were perfect. Staff cheery and helpful.

When on to Newcastle I stopped for a quick lunchtime snack. Bacon roll. Cheese sandwich. Food was ok and inexpensive. Bit of a wait though. I’d recommend it. Next to a Londis petrol station. Usual odd mix of sweets and drinks.

We have travelled from Edinburgh to Middlesbrough 100s of times over the years, stopping at various terrible or mediocre service stations when hungry. What a relief to finally find somewhere this good to stop! Stopping this morning, we ordered two large breakfasts- which certainly lived up to thier name. Lovely farm sausages, great bacon, black pudding, beans and tomatoes, mushrooms, egg, hash brown, toast and fried bread made for quite a feast! My only criticism would be that we needed more bread/toast- one slice was just not enough- but I am sure that if we had asked, we would have been served more. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the service- friendly, helpful, polite and just really lovely. Some of the cheeriest, nicest guys i have met- brightened up my whole morning. We will definitely be back. X

I would like to say I was in you lovely restaurant on Sunday on my bike and had the best bacon and sausage sandwich ever. From a person that’s well travelled and had thousands of sandwiches/eating out meals. Especially a big thank you for sending my Northumberland Hadrian wall book in the post to myself. As couldn’t fit it under bike seat lol. Spoke to the wife and we planning to bring ourselves and the kids for an day out and pop in for a meal soon. Good news travels, and I heard from word of mouth by friends and now I will be passing on this as well to as many people as possible. Your hospitality is second to none, keep up the good work, be popping in soon. One very happy customer.

Eat & Sleep Lindisfarne Café Beal.Cafe review only, we did not stay in the Hostel.Driving home from Scotland last Sunday and needing a cuppa , cake and the loo in that order, I pulled in here. We parked up and ran through the rain to get in and get a seat. we managed to get the only vacant table, my wife sat down and I went to the counter.A Blonde haired young man smiled from behind the counter and asked what I would like, a cup of Tea, a Latte and a individual carrot cake please money exchanged hands and I returned to my wife with the cake after being told my drinks would be brought over, smashing. After ten mins my wife said she was off to the loo, she shortly returned saying there was only one loo for males/females and disabled and there were 6 people in the queue to use it. I told her the queue might only get longer and to go back and wait, she did. She returned 20 mins later having managed to gain entry and she told me there were 4 people in the queue when she came out. 30 mins have now passed since the nice young man behind the counter took pay for Tea, a Latte and the carrot cake but unfortunatley no Tea of Latte had arrived. Our table still hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants and to be honest , we'd waited long enough, so.......................I returned to the counter, stood in the queue and waited my turn, the same nice young man looked up and smiled asking me what I would like. He clearly didn't recognise me from some 35 mins (By now) previously. I smiled back and asked him if I could have my money back please. He just looked at me totally Blank, the young girl with dark hair who was also behind the counter looked up as did a more mature lady who was in the food preperation area, He asked me what money and for what. I explained about the Tea, the Latte and over 35 min wait , he apologised and said he forgot but did I still want them ? Fair enough I thought can't fault him for telling the truth but my wife pointed out that someone had taken our table and there were now no vacant tables left for us to sit at. I politely declined his offer and again requested my money back, with the assistance of the lady from the food prep area (who looked very embarrassed) I recieved my refund and we left. All I can say is Fair Play to the lad for telling the truth about our order but on the other hand he wasn't the only one serving on tables. Also in this day and age one single toilet for Male/Female AND Disabled use in a Cafe on the A1 which must have at least 25 internal covers plus and outside seating is simply not on. Nice welcoming staff. Good range of drinks . Food tasty and very good value for money. The decor is a bit tired but the good food and atmosphere outweighs this. Looks like the new owners are working at gradually improving its looks but making their priority good food, good drink, friendly atmosphere.

This cafe in Hexham has a great atmosphere for a supermarket cafe. The staff are friendly and the food is great.
