Eat New York - The Bagel Shop in Manchester

Had a vegan bagel (cant remember exactly what was in it - I think it was on the Christmas menu as opposed to their regular menu) but it was the best, most delicious bagel I have ever had.

Absolutely lovely food couldn’t be better great service first time there will definitely be going back there 10 out of 10 😍

All I can say is WOW, this place is a meat lovers dream, the pastrami, salt beef and the burgers are amazing, the Angel Fries are delicious and the milkshakes are to die for. The restaurant itself isn’t anything special but the food is worth the visit, plus it’s really good value We will be back soon !

Second time I’ve been to the place, its easy to find halfway up Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter. Clearly signed and seats about 30 on its ground floor. I arrive on a Sunday afternoon and greeted and sat down at a table and handed a menu. Why you would come here for anything else but the pastrami is a mystery (its really good and apparently home prepared). So I opt for the 1/2 lb pastrami Ruben sandwich and some fries (which were almost a fiver :-/). Things got interesting when I asked for a beer, all draught beer was sold out (apart from Coors light which is terrible, cmon guys this is a sunny Sunday afternoon) I asked for cider, they didn’t have, no bottled beer, so I had to opt for Coors. I almost ended up walking out, but I was tight on time for parking and decided to stay. I was given a bottle of tap water, which came with a glass, that was big enough to hold 2 mouthfuls, I spent the whole time whilst waiting for food constantly filling my glass up, drinking, and filling it up again, when I got halfway down the bottle I actually gave up, and stuck to the weak beer. It’s been a while since ive been in a restaurant checking my watch and I was almost asking how long the food was going to be, until it came just about in time before I walked out. The server was sat down eating his lunch, and it felt like he brought my meal out once he went in the kitchen to clear his plate. Food arrived and it was freshly cooked. The pastrami is the real deal here, beautifully peppery and crispy around the edges. Melted cheese and Sauerkraut (I think) all on toasted slices was excellent. As a 1/2lb option (£12) is plenty and you actually get 2 small sandwiches which is plenty, you don’t need fries. The fries were ‘angel’ fries, truffle oil and Parmesan, and although nice and freshly cooked, are simply not worth £5. It’s becoming quite apparent in the northern quarter in many places, that they are relying on getting that additional £5 out of customers for way too many fries, when a handful on the side of the plate, would be fine, for an extra £2 or so, and be so much more enjoyable, it seems like a bit of tactic. So I eat one sandwich and a two fistfuls of fries and have to accept defeat, and box the rest. Once I’d finished it turned I had to make quite a bit of an effort to pay, one waitress was sat at the bar enthralled in a laptop at the bar about 2 metres away, and another chap kept disappearing. Eventually I got his attention managed to get the items boxed, I got up to pay the bill on his return because I couldn’t wait to leave. In short, food is good but there is way too much of it, place is a little scruffy (it looks like its used as a club in the evenings) and the staff seem a little distant. Don’t opt for fries, and ask about the beer before you sit down. £22 for a beer, sandwich and fries on an afternoon is a bit mad. But go on the above, and go for the Pastrami and share fries if you’re with someone, and you’ve got a something a bit different in Manchester which is a pleasant change to the burgers, babs and burritos strewn in the NQ. Very good, but not quite great.

We chose ENY for our anniversary dinner because we got engaged in New York and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were attentive, the service was fast, and the food was absolutely delicious. My husband had the Rueben and I had the pastrami burger; both were excellent. Cocktails are quite pricey individually but are 2 for 1 before 10pm so it’s fine if you have two of the same one. We were the first ones there at 20.15 so atmosphere was a bit lacking at first but the complimentary glass of fizz helped! We’ll definitely be back and will be bringing our NY loving friends with us.

Decided to take my family here for a new York style lunch. As I have been lucky enough to go to Katz Deli in NY, which have the best pastrami sandwiches, I thought I would try their Reuben sandwich, hoping for something half decent at least. It was very,very salty. I cannot stress how salty it was. The rest of my family also mentioned that their food was overly salty. It was such a shame. It spoilt the visit. I'll not be back.

We visited Eat New York on a Friday, early evening. We ordered : * A Little Italy Bagel (Breaded mozzarella, Cal’s tomato sauce, red onion, fresh tomato, rocket, fresh pesto, garlic butter, gorgonzola mayo) * BACON CHEESEBURGER (Quarter pounder, burger cheese, Swiss cheese, maple bacon, house ketchup, house sauce, lettuce, pickle, red onion, tomato) * French Fries The little Italy was very disappointing. It was a tiny bagel with its advertised filling. The french fries were scraps of chips and ends......as though they tried to get away with selling the dregg ends of the bag of frozen fries, really disappointing. We asked the waitress to take the fries back, which she did but she didn't even ask what was wrong with fries and no apology at all. If she'd have offered a different plate of fries, then we would have taken it but she didn't offer anything.

I have lost count of the amount of times I've eaten here. Both for an evening meal with mates, and for a quick bit at lunchtime. I first visited with some vouchers a friend won (so free meal), decided it was worth paying to go again. glad a did.

Came here for a late lunch, had the grill melt bagel which was amazing! The salt beef was delicious, the bagel was perfectly toasted and all the ingredients worked perfectly together! Mustard is a little sharp but that's how I like it. We also had fries, which were very tasty, and frickles, which are almost as good as the bagel. Everything was hot and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be coming back at some point to try the Reuben!

Had an email through from Manchester's Finest this week with details of the most expensive sandwiches in Manchester. And this restaurant's Reuben was on there. So felt the need to go. Hard to work out whether the restaurant is open, but went in anyway to find 6 other diners on a Saturday lunchtime. The Reuben was amazing. Kept it to a half portion, but could have eaten the same again easily. It was the best Reuben I have ever had. Full stop. been on a couple of solo lunch dates (whilst being veggie) and tried the little italy and bagel ganoush, the flavours were so spot on, i couldn't fault them at all! drinks are nice and deserts are incredible, not sure how they've managed to make everything so tasty and affordable (i tried out on the 50% offer but regular price is still very worthwhile) but it's definitely that place that always pops into my mind when thinking about casual dining in manchester! couldn't think of anywhere more tasty :) staff are lovely and interior is cool they really have catered for everyone with vegan/veggie/gluten free/halal options, bring everyone and i'm sure you'll have no complaints! can't wait to come back and try the meat options that look amazing (sorry veganuary)

Went with my other half for lunch and both ordered off the lunch time meal deal (bagel, side, drink for £10). She had a little italy and I had a salt beef melt bagel. The food was absolutely delicious (never had salt beef before) and the service prompt and friendly. Only slight downside was that it was really cold in the restaurant, though this didn't spoil our experience. Will definitely be back and would absolutely recommend.
