Eat in Southwark

Early evening light Pre- Festival Hall meal, so none of us (4 persons) wanted anything too heavy. This was just right. Tasty food served with a smile

Very good breakfast pot: beans, ham, egg, feta. Filling, delicious, well-priced. Always surprises me though how the chains on Bankside don’t make more of their river location or views. This could be such a ‘destination’ venue but most people just walk past. Bit more thought and it could be quite special.

We were doing the tourist thing on the South Bank and needed a quick pit stop. This was a good choice as it had a good selection if fresh wraps / baguettes and a selection of hot / cold drinks at reassonable prices. We were able to rest our legs in the seated area and then be on our way

As much as I enjoyed my hoisin sauce and duck wrap with chocolate chip muffin for afters, I picked up on serval things which struck me as slightly negative. Immediately on the left as you walk in, there are a selection of croissants and muffins. There are only, fairly pathetic plastic sheets covering the food. Since the table is positioned next to the door and people are regularly moving the food around, inspecting which delicacy is the best, the plastic tops seemed quite inadequate and unless placed correctly, would just slip off the table. Something more in-keeping with hygiene-related guidelines might be acceptable. Secondly, the tables all appeared to still have food-like residue and circular mug ring-outlines, as if the surfaces hadn't been wiped down correctly. Whilst at the counter to pay, the assistant serving me just turned round to have a small natter to her colleague. I was stood there holding my money for a good fifteen seconds before she came back to me, and she weakly apologised. But I did think, look, you're serving me, taking my money, have a little more courteousness. Lastly, I felt the music from the speakers was marginally to loud and one of the assistants was noisily singing along whilst carrying out some tasks. I was a bit sceptical, I just want a bit of quiet whilst I eat, but here is this member of staff over-enthusiastically singing along to the restaurant's music. Perhaps I'm too serious a guy and a killjoy... Convenient location on Bankside but not that great a time there.

I came online to review eat near Moorgate station an stumbled across my local EAT! Love the ethics of this chain overall so always happy to grab a bite from an EAT! However, this one needs a little love, especially where cleaning is concerned. Smarten up guys and live up to the standards of Moorgate. The staff aren't quite as upbEAT here as in the city and the tables are really dirty. However - their vegetable gyoza broth is the best. Highly recommend it for a light lunch.

Used EAT at Bankside each day for breakfast on a recent visit to London. Superb choice of hot & cold food at great prices

Lunches here are incredible, today mushroom, and all sorts of other things in a soup... delicious! Reasonably priced and right in the heart of things!!

Everywhere I go lately has dirty tables and EAT bank side is no exception. I asked for extra serviettes to clean my own table and 1 of the 3 staff just pointed to the serviettes. I was asked if I was "eating in or taking away" and I suppose I was charged extra for the privilege of wiping my own table with a dry serviette. I should have just asked them to wipe the table BUT surely they should have also a) cleaned it as soon as it was vacated or b) said they would clean it when I asked for serviettes so I could clean it. The sandwich was ok but over priced. The lemon and lime drink was weak and just tasted like lemon squash but was cold and refreshing - also over priced. I had a little lemon cheesecake that had a weird texture and was ( can you guess?) overpriced. Below average staff. Below average table cleanliness, below average experience. Not really recommended.

Called in here for a cold dink & snack whilst walking around the area. Not very busy. A couple of staff behind counter but tables & restaurant messy & untidly. Took our "not very cold" drinks outside & again tables were full of debris from previous customers. Either get more staff or train them to clear tables regularly.

This is a great value for money cafe with a host of tasty snacks and drinks that are reasonably priced. Sit outside beside the Thames is great for watching the world go by.

I like Eat for their coffee and this location especially is great for sitting outside with the laptop and just doing some work while watching the people stroll by.

風が冷たかったので、温かいものを食べたいと探していたところ、見つけたアジアンカフェです。 餃子を使ったスープがあり、その 場でお湯を入れてくれます。しかし、味はまぁロンドン…だんだんと飽きてきてしまう味でした。ただ日本人としては餃子を見つけて、興奮してしまいます。

Called in for lunch after working nearby all morning got a really tasty pie and good cuppa really tasty and good value for money food rating 6 out of 10 service prompt and well mannered

Stopped at one of EAT branches on the London Bankside (close to The Globe) to have a quick dinner before going to the theatre. Happily surprised EAT now serve HUGE noodle soup pots for approx £ 5.00!!! I enjoyed the food: really good price for a nice, warm soup!!!!!!! Staff was very nice!

Restaurante de comidas rapidas, para quando se tem pressa e orçamento apertado. Mais saudável e saboroso que outros do gênero. Ha muitos pela cidade, com varias opções de sanduíches, frutas, iogurtes, etc.

There are lots of good restaurants on the Southbank but I wanted something quick and half decent before going to the theatre. I was surprised by Eat. I had a butternut squash, spinach and feta pie, which had a good filling and crispy pastry. It was a pretty decent pie. I had it with mash and gravy, which made it into a meal, but the pie was the star. They sell wine too. There are table outside. For under £11.0o for a meal and wine is pretty good in my book. The downside is eating out of a box using plastic cutlery.

For our last day, we walked towards Moorgate Station from our hotel and found this EAT so popped in. I ordered a Egg, Roast Tomato & Mushroom Muffin with a latte, sadly the assistant seemed to lack a basic understanding of English so had to explain it to another assistant to order a latte which was decaffeinated. The muffin was nice and the price was reasonable. Date of visit: 4th October (approx. 9am)
