Fancied a change to our usual garden centre so decided to pop to Eastfield garden centre we went to the restaurant part. We ordered a sandwich and chips and a ham salad with chips. The sandwich was nice but the ham salad was just so poor, for £11.49 it should have been loaded, it was more like my partners salad garnish. Wouldn’t rush back and would not order a salad again. It’s a shame as we went to the Stain glass centre the week before and the salad there was fabulous, it was £8.99 and was great.

Visited the garden centre with my grandma today, and stopped in the cafe for some lunch and coffee. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. I had the hunters chicken panini, it was delicious. All the staff were very friendly. Despite visiting on a busy lunch time, we were served quickly and the food came out fast. A big shout out to the lovely young blonde that served us, didn’t catch her name but she’s an asset to the business😊 will definitely be back.

Thought I would treat my daughter to a homemade coconut tart, baked on the premises..what a waste of money. £2.75p. All coconut topping no jam. Dry as anything. If I lived near by it would of gone back for a refund. As I'm in Chesterfield Derbyshire. Ending up throwing it away. Don't buy.

It is a very busy cafe so not everyone is put off by £11 for scampi and chips with a little lackluster salad ( no lemon and a packet of tartare sauce ) . It was ok but nothing special and they had run out of other things on the menu. No offer of ice and a slice to go with the bottle of water but it was good to be automatically given extra hot water for the tea but we did not find it was value for money The staff are busy so it was a long wait in the queue. It is pleasant in the conservatory where it is light and airy with a view of the garden.

Really friendly and informative staff able to identify allergens. The deli counter made my mouth water and the food sandwiched and salad were awesome. Plenty of everything and free condiments. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try authentic Yorkshire. The store also had some really cool, collectable and one off gifts. Well worth a visit.

This is a lovely place with nice easy chairs and good service. However, please use proper whole milk instead of the semi-skimmed nonsense! You have to use twice as much to lighten your coffee which makes it watery and negates any calorie saving! Whole milk makes coffee smoother and nicer. m&S Cafe have switched back to proper whole milk and consumers are too, so why not you?

Lovely food, great service! I had read some, not very favourable reviews, however was told the gardeb centre itself was eorth a visit. So glad I took a chance and stopped for lunch...as we sat at a table that had just been vacated, a member of staff appeared to clear & wipe the table. Lady that served me was very friendly and the food was lovely. It pays to take a chance and treat some reviews as someone having a bad day!!!

Two of us chose fish & chips. The batter on both was undercooked, .A replacement was offered but we were put off and got a refund. The third person ordered a toasted sandwich that arrived burnt It was sent back and replaced. Soon after it arrived, a small fly crawled out of the salad garnish! The fourth meal was "ok"but not worth the price even at today' prices When we went to order our meals we noticed a steak pie waiting to be taken to a table. It was still waiting 10 minutes later and we later noticed the recipient complaining. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Went to the Potting Shed as thought it would be better than the other destination we were going to. Garden centre is great, and something different however the food really was not pleasant. Steak pie with canned filling, one large mushy boiled potato and melt/disintegrate in the mouth cauliflower. The lasagne was a dish of thick pasta, congealed cheese and so much tomato concentrate it was barely passable as food - more something you'd find blocking a drain. The ordering system means you have to stand and wait while drinks are made so pray the person before you isn't in a large party. Anyway, bear this in mind if you do visit, staff pleasant which was the only plus point, won't go back which is a shame as it lets down the garden centre which is fantastic.

We were a family of 4 adults that ordered the fish and chips. The fish was really greasy to eat,it also leaked grease as you cut it open. The fish was ok inside but the batter really let it down. Visited the cafe near the entrance for a morning coffee. A flat white and a latte were ordered, but when they were served they both tasted just like a milky coffee. No difference between them. Even though the lady making the coffees took several minutes to make the coffees, there was little or no foam on either of the drinks. If the cafe is going to advertise these various forms of drink, they should at least learn how to make them.

So disappointed as regular visitors todays lunch was not good my ham sandwich which in the past has always been lovely was awful, one small piece of ham covered in margarine no side portion of crisps which is usually included, just salad. My husband usually enjoys the coronation chicken but today it had lots of raisins in the mixture again so crisps just salad. £16.05 for two sandwiches and two teas, very disappointed

I took my elderly father to the potting shed for his birthday - we had the traditional afternoon tea which was wonderful - fresh thick sandwiches, salad and quiche, with little cakes and a very large fluffy scone each - and a box to take home what we couldn't eat. What made it even better is that I asked for a little cake and candle as a surprise for him if possible - they brought out this wonderful chocolate cake and candles - made his afternoon. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and attentive - would def recommend.

Came today with my family and elderly parents. They come twice a week, once for coffee and once for lunch and usually buy nik-naks and plants. In front of a line of waiting customers I had an argument at the till with the server who would not let me take a small cardboard box to put in our trolley for wet plants until we had bought something. I have no problem with rules but do with those who enforce them using no common sense. My parents were so angry they vowed not to return. We bought nothing and the 6 of us went somewhere else for lunch. They will be sharing their experience with other family and friends. We return South with a dim view of Eastfield.

0 star if I could!! Came here the other day for some lunch, as our usual lovely venue for a dinner was closed, firstly it’s gone down hill a lot, the food used to be lovely, we all ordered the vegetable pie meal, which was £10+ each.. it came with veg swimming in the gravy.. we’ve never seen that before.. then the “pie” if you can call it that was just a few veggies literally swimming in gravy, with a bit of pastry on top that looked like it had been mashed up, the vegetables on the side were hard and definitely frozen vegetables, not fresh, it wasn’t very busy at lunch time and we are now not surprised why! We won’t be coming again and we will be telling others how horrible the food has got, also… the price of everything has gone up, yet the food quality awful!

Since coming out of Lockdown i have visited the restaurant maybe 4/5 times and the cafe several times for Coffee, it feels safe and they are doing their upmost to clean areas. However I have been given dirty cutlery several times which is unacceptable at anytime let alone during Covid! On one occasion i got dirty Cutlery and had to wait to change it and when i went to get desserts i was served a solid under cooked lemon sponge and was given 2 dirty spoons! You could not make it up!!Clearly when the Dishwasher is emptied Cutlery is not being checked.Food on the whole has usually been good but there have been several times over the last 2 years where it is dreadful.

The turkey was really moist, the sprouts and mashed potatoes lovely and hot but the roast potatoes didn’t look as if they’d seen an oven, they were pale, hard and Luke warm! The carrots and parsnips also were only lukewarm , which to say they’d only just started serving, is not what the customer pays for!One of my friends asked for a prawn omelette, which came piping hot and looked delicious, I know which meal I’d go for next time.

This was our second visit to the Garden Centre for Afternoon Tea (first was in June 2019). The food was most excellent, served in a very nicely appointed area. However we were disappointed with the service. Although a member of staff came back very shortly after we started eating to see if we needed the tea/coffee topped up, we were then it seemed forgotten. No one checked if we were happy with the food etc or so see if we were ready for a refresh of the drinks. When we had finished all we could eat we sat and waited for a long time for someone to come over but in the end I went out to the servers to ask for a box to take the leftovers home in. The waitress did not seem to recognise we were from the Afternoon Tea. She said she would get me a piece of tin foil. I reminded her we were having the tea and she came and gave me a box. I was further surprised on the way out, they did not ask if we’d enjoyed ourselves or say cheerio.

We popped into the cafe after visiting the garden centre to have a drink. With every intention not to have cake, we got cake!! Or more precisely, Malteaser crunch and millionaire shortbread. Both looked lovely on display and we needed a choice fix. As is our usual plan, we shared and enjoyed these. Husband had a flat white, while I indulged in a mocha. Lovely and worth a visit for a treat.

Food was ok I had braised beef but unfortunately it was a bit fatty this was accompanied with 4very small roast potatoes and veg my partner had meatballs which where very tasty he got Decent size portion of roasties bye just the thick stalk of the cauliflower, all in all it tasted ok however the staff was rude and ignorant. We wasn’t asked what veg we wanted it was just thrown on the plate then when I got to the till to pay my partner had gone to get cold drinks, I explained this to the person behind the till who just tutted and looked away from me . There was only one pessimist behind me and it only took a min or 2 to get the drinks . I was appalled at the service and the attitude of the staff

We are a retired couple in our seventies, we ordered the full english breakfast, halfway through eating the meal my husband noticed a SLUG in is food. We brought this to the attention of the staff and asked to see the manager. We were kept waiting 15 minutes. Upon finally talking to him, he was extremely rude and accussed me and my husband of placing the SLUG in our meal and said "this is the sort of tricks customers do to get out of paying for their meal" I was aghast at such an accusation and felt very threatend by his manner. The plate was taken away into the kitchen, when he returned he said " Its not a SLUG". My husband who is a keen gardener with 50 years experience knows a SLUG when he sees one, and said." OK fine give me the SLUG please" The manager replied in a sarcastic and condescending manner "what would you like me to wrap it up in cling film or foil?" I said foil and at this point we were offered a refund. I said "why are you offering me a refund when you are denying it is a slug"? When we got home we opened the foil to find, suprise suprise it was empty!!!. We found the Manager to be extremely threatening and obnoxious. I would recommend anyone considering eating here to think twice. The food hygiene standards are certanly very questionable.

It's been a while since our last visit, so we were pleased to see the standard are still high. We ordered coffee to go with our chosen cake, and this was freshly brewed while we waited. Good coffee and cake. We will be back again to enjoy.

2 families visited garden centre, called for lunch in the cafe, ok food but had better. Don’t ask for something that is slightly different on the menu (panini instead of baguette) they will do it but then moan to your face about doing it because “it’s not on the menu”. If you don’t want to do it simple just say no, don’t say yes and then come out and moan, maybe some members of staff need a refresher in customer service, it’s not like it’s cheap we spent £40 in the cafe and was made to feel very unwelcome.

Nipping in for a quick bite for lunch we came up with a real problem - there was nothing on offer for a vegan in our party. However a young member of staff took the trouble to source some Mediterranean vegetables from the restaurant and married them up with a baked potato after consultation with the manager. A minor glitch as we didn't realise we then needed to formally order said dish over the counter. Only a slight delay. We then toured the garden centre itself, always a joy and of course came away with full hands and empty pockets!

Visited today and had the Sunday carvery selection of Roast Beef & my friend the Gammon. Both our choices of meat were tender. Meals here can be hit or miss, however today we both thoroughly enjoyed them. Later we sat in the cafe area and enjoyed coffee. A great place to catch up and watch the world go by on a blustery rainy day.

This garden centre has a coffee shop serving sandwiches and cakes and at the other end a restaurant. They do have a carvery running on a Sunday, however i think it might be on everyday but please check this. Usually 3 meats and one veggie option along with seasonal veg, roast and boiled potatoes. The wait can sometimes be long to get served depending on when you go but the anoying think is waiting for the hot drinks to be make while yòur food is going cold on your tray so we opt for a soft drink and then move round to the till to pay which speeds things up. I hate cold food!

Went today for lunch , I decided i was having soup , they said it was the last portion so that was fine , I asked for no bread which , when it came it was the smallest half bowl of soup for £6.25 , I didn’t want anything knocking off for not having the bread but did expect a full dish, looking at the menu I could of had a small breakfast, or sandwich for about the same price , it’s soup where do they get over £6 for it!!

Sarah was very attentive. The rest of the staff need to be trained by her. On booking to see if we could have a table the man wasn't, quite in the room

We waited an hour for eggs and toast. Owner only cared about Door Dash orders going out the door. Given that Courtenay has so many great casual dining places, give this one a pass. Give your business to restaurants that care about providing good service to their customers.
