Eastern Delight in North Devon

There is a Service Charge of £0.80 when Ordered online with a 10% discount via their website. My order below was collected: E10 Chicken, Chilli & Salted: Mouth-watering, just how it should be. Plenty of lightly battered, salted Chicken pieces, sliced onions, peppers & spring onions with lots of ferociously HOT🌶 chilli slices. NICE!!!! 61 Curry, Beef: Simply thick sliced beef, onions & peas in a dark brown curry gravy with an Unusual stale "used oil" aroma. E32 Chinese Roast Pork Szechuan: Thickly sliced Chinese roast pork & chunky vegetable in a red sweet sauce with chilli flakes. Nice BUT Missing that Szechuan aroma & Flavour. Ready for collection in 20 minutes. Friendly staff, order correct and piping hot Good tasty food. ☆☆☆☆ Gromit Stanley Rating: 70-75% PRETTY GOOD

Sichuan special was good but the beef is better.

Food eventually arrived after two hours. It arrived cold, the wrong items in the order, extremely rude lady on the phone who had no customer service skills after asking for a refund apparently they don’t do refunds which is ridiculous especially when your not at fault. In the end we had to take the food back down to them in a rubbish bag in order for us to get our refund. Save your money & avoid!

My favourite Chinese by far once, but something has changed. Food ,service not what it was. Disappointed

Been using Eastern Delight for a long time and never a issue. ordered and when the food arrived if was overcooked, flavourless, meat was like rubber, it tasted slimy. Rang up to complain to be told there is new chefs. when i complained they refused a refund, credit note only which is pointless as i wont be returning. some of the food was replaced but tbh it was of the same poor standards. Didnt bother ringing back. live and learn as ill never return there. Delivery Drivers was awesome a credit to any company.

If you read my last post on this site . I would just like to apologize to Eastern delight as it was ment for langson house . So please stay clear of langson house but definitely worth giving Eastern delight ago . So sorry eastern delight as my post wasn't for you . So if everyone could put penny's in charity tin that would be helpful. Or just order an extra curry sauce and keep it for next day to put ontop of skinny chips with couple bits of bread and butter job done 👍😁

Me and the wife have been going to Eastern Delight for many years now. Now that we come back out of lockdown and Eastern Delight was up and running again the food has been a lot stranger. strang texture chicken 🐔 they now pack it out with onions mushrooms carrots peas water chestnut and what else they put in other than the actual food that's supposed to be in it. The curry sauce is runny I just can't get over the texture of that chicken. So I've looked it up I've found kg chicken that is pumped 80%of water and salt. I do believe that's what I've been eating not nice. If you're going to have the Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken you will have lots of carrots more pineapples than chicken there's no taste of the sauce at all. They used to do their own homemade chips as well only to find it was just fries. A lot more expensive as well It's time to find a new new Chinese Gutted and extremely upsetting for such a good place to run down like that 😔

Can't believe I'm complaining over sauce! Order sweet and sour chicken balls and rice for me mum and collected it only to get home and there was no sweet n sour sauce. We plated up the meals as we opened them so didn't know until the end. The lady's resolution was come and collect the sauce which our food would get cold or she would authorise a free extra sweet and sour sauce for next time. Safe to say mums meal was dry and not what we payed for, most went to waste. Atleast offer to replace the meal for next time as thats whats ruined who wants sweet and sour with no sweet and sour.

Tried this place for the first time tonight, ordered via Just eat. Food tasted great, it was hot and delivered on time. Thank you Would recommend

Had £60 worth of food last night from here, can honestly say best Chinese I have had in a very long time. Fresh and tasty and on time. Highly recommend!

King prawn balls gave us an upset stomach on 2 seperate occasions

Decent Chinese takeaway. Very tasty food, especially the Vietnamese dishes they do as well. Always 10mins late for collection, but once you know that its easy to allow for it.

Food is average and the service is below par. I only went here because wing fong was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. I only ever get barbecue spare ribs, chow mein and salt and pepper chips. The last time I went here they purposely give me old £1 coins in my change. So I purposely went back a couple of days later and gave the £1 coins back when I bought some barbecue spare ribs. Warning check your change

Nice food. Shame about the service. Went to pick up a takeaway but was unable to take contactless payment when under £15, no exceptions. I even offered to pay 50% extra, as I only had my Apple Watch to pay and my bike, which the lady on the reception desk knew. On return, I mentioned that they may want to review this because of the new covid virus or willing to make the odd exception. Her response was defensive and utter rubbish. First it was because of high commission and then after I said that I had offered to pay extra, she said that was now against the law and not possible. Stupidity I can handle but bad customer service and lying I don’t like hence the bad review.

Have been using Eastern Delight for a number of years and can honestly say that their food has always been brilliant. The food is always piping hot when it is delivered to our door, the portion sizes are excellent and it is nice o be able to taste the food without the taste of salt. Although mthere are a number of take aways in Barnstaple I would ask you to give them a try, you wont be disappointed.

Not sure where to start..... if I could leave 0 stars I would. I have never had to leave such a poor review. I spent £50 on a takeaway for a family meal and the majority of it was in edible. We were all very hungry but try as we might over 75,% of it went in the bin. The starters were swimming in terrible tasting oil, over cooked and inedible. The rice dry like it had been hanging around for days, the crispy beef had an awfully odd taste, crispy seaweed again tasted yuk because of the old oil it had been cooked in. The chow mein was rubbery and all the other dishes tasted terrible like they were days old and not fresh. Rang and spoke to the manager to make him aware and he was a joke! Rude and argumentative. He didn't care that nearly £50 worth of food was inedible and going in the bin. Please avoid this takeaway. Disgusting food and management.

Do not order duck! It's shredded for you and you receive half the amount you would usually from a restaurant.

Very handy car park across the road. They give advice on the food, and can prepare meals without msg. The meal appeared very quickly after ordering, and included complimentary prawn crackers and a free claendar. The prawns cooked with ginger were lovely, but we did not like the chicken with bamboo shoots.

We ordered a large takeaway to celebrate my daughters birthday. We have had orders of a similar, if not smaller, many times before, and every time we receive a complimentary prawn crackers and fortune cookies. However, on this occasion, these were not present. Disappointed by this, I gave a call to Eastern Delight to ask about their whereabouts, however was rudely told that due to ordering through JustEat, we were not entitled to them. I explained that we normally receive them, and normally order through JustEat, but apparently this was not good enough. This was just really disappointing, didn't leave us feeling valued, and felt like awful service.

The food here is top class. The staff here are very polite on the phone. The delivery service they provide are are on time with your order.

Tried for a carry out as it’s convenient to car park but it was a bit like the curates egg good in places

Didnt get to try the food as it stops doing deliverys at 10.00 even though it states it nowhere! Says open until 11 though. Bit of a joke!

Preferred myself a Chicken Rengdang, got beef. I then met my friend who collected the Chinese, who told me that, and I quote, said, 'I know him, is he the dark oneCalled too get it changed, told them the address I was at and then got a call back 10 minutes later to say that I was rude and that they wouldn't be sending me my food I ordered. Whoever the girl was acting as the receptionist on the 28/12 is awful and needs a job that doesn't involve customer relations. Terrible person.

We spend alot with this takeaway, when the food is right its good but putting up with long waiting times & having the wrong food delivered has now taken its toll. Last night was the final time we will use them. After placing the order by phone, witnessed by 3 people the wrong food arrived (again). We called to get it corrected to be told sorry but you can have 10% off next time, spoiling 3 peoples meals who went without. The lady on the phone rude...will take our money else where.

This is our favourite place to get Chinese takeaway. The food is of a consistently high standard, always hot & very yummy. We've both collected & had delivery, both were perfect good & food ready on time. We would strongly recommend.

This is my goto takeaway restaurant partly because its convenient for parking and also because i know their menu inside out all in all value for money

I did a web search to find their menu as had never ordered from them before. I found their menu and made a note of my order. Having rung through to place my order and then confirm the price the girl on the phone told me that it would cost £14 more than listed on the website. When I queried this she refused to honour the price in print that I was looking at. However the name of the restaurant, address, telephone number and menu numbers / dishes were known to her. She came across very badly and handled the call with no regard at all. To me this equates to false advertising and is very misleading. I will never contact them again and urge anyone else to beware of this scam.

If you buy chips you get a very good share enough for 2-3 people They sell chow mein dishes, friend rice dishes, sweet and sour, curry, green pepper, english and extra portions.
