Used to love this place Thai curries were unreal but they’ve changed it now the container is hardly full and it’s all watery the Thai red and green curries from here gave me a reason to live. they used to be so creamy and just incredible can’t believe one of my only joys in life has been taken away please change them back to how they were, I will do anything pls just give me my Thai curries back

Food just awful, curry like soup, rice stank of smoke and crispy chilli beef was undercooked. Very very sad waste of £30

Well what a shame. I understand the place has changed hands although I haven’t used it for a while due to the poor food. Food was still warm on delivery (I’m 2.5 miles away). I’ll let you guys judge for yourself on the looks of the 10 small bits of beef in the beef and green pepper and the chicken in the Hong Kong style sweet and sour. No shrimps in the spring rolls and about 50 pence worth of chow mien. All mine for £25.30 delivered. Oh they did give me 2 fortune cookies for free.

I've been getting food from these guys for years and years. I always get crispy shredded beef, and it's always been fab. However today's order came and I was very disappointed. The crispy shredded beef looks anaemic and doesn't taste anywhere near as good as normal. Much less flavour and tang than usual. Veg chow mein was ok, but you have to work pretty hard you mess that up. I called and asked about it and I was told that they were under new management. The new management obviously don't know what this dish is supposed to taste like, so I doubt I'll be going back unless they change it. I wish I'd read all the other recent bad reviews before ordering.

we have used this take away for 20 years, the last 2 times it has been terrible ,must be new owners or chef, cant even make a chicken curry .not using it again !!!!!!

I’ve only put 1 star on each because I have too, to leave a review. New management, ingredients changed absolutely disgusting. Phoned up to complain and I finally managed to get a refund for half despite the fact we ate none of it and threw it in the bin. Crispy chilli beef, not crispy really soggy in a really salty gravy, seaweed covered in sugar crystals, smoked chicken not smoked at all and very poor quality like it had been reheated several times. The rice was part cooked and the special chow mein contained only small scraps of chicken and pork. The king prawns were so over cooked they were hard as rubber and almost dissolved. I said I would bring the whole meal back for a full refund and management said they would not do that. NEVER AGAIN Disgusting

Obviously under new management! Food was a total let down. Chicken and beansprouts (Cantonese style) Was more like a watered down sweet and sour. The BBQ ribs, again sauce watery and not as they used to be. Can't fault service but as you're purchasing food that's the most important thing. Need to find a new Chinese - shame!

New management and new menu in May 2024, I didn't realise until phoning in a small order and it's not quite as good as before. I've added photos of the menu to Google as there are lots of different dishes.

Just placed an order after not using them for a while and I can only say I was shocked with the below average food, dry duck, dry and bland chicken and a special fried rice that was full of nothing but peas. Will definitely not be using this place anymore which is a shame as they were brilliant but unfortunately stay well clear 1/10.

Gone downhill fast since new ownership, food very bland

Disappointed tonight. Must have new owners as nothing was the same. Food portions were still good and it looked decent, but was some of the most bland noodles I’ve had probably ever, the pad Thai tasted like boiled noodles and veg

Just been for the first time in about 3 weeks, they have changed their menu lots and don't do some foods that me n my husband enjoyed - not impressed with what we tried - change your menu back!

Tried to order a set meal for one. Two choices at £10.50 or £11.50. Told they have a minimum spend on a debit card of £15. Absolute joke. They have lost a customer that normally buys for 6/8 people

After using this take away for many years it's sad to report how poor the food has become. We won't be using the Eastern Chef again.

Great food. Very busy, so usually have to wait a bit to be served. Good selection on the menu. Speedy collection time. Also good prices

The people here are great and the food is always perfect.. definitely recommend. If there was an indoor eating area I would’ve given 5 for atmosphere.. the place is worth it. Order before you get there for swift pickups

This is our local but sadly its not our favourite. Service is polite and friendly. Just not the best quality food, example is Sweetn Sour chicken balls are crunchy on the outside but under cooked batter on the inside.

Really loved getting takeaway here. The person behind the counter was incredibly helpful guiding us through the allergy lists to find something that would work for us - they never got frustrated once at how slow I was being and how long it took me to order. I can't entirely remember what I did order. I think there was tofu in yellow bean sauce with cashews, and maybe tofu in black bean sauce with green peppers? Along with spring rolls and seaweed. All the dishes were delightful though, and reasonably priced. Service was incredibly fast and the food was still hot when we got home. This was our first time here and I'm sure that we're now going to become regulars.

Had a delivery from the Eastern Chef only tiny complaint was that the rice was a bit greasy but the other dishes were delicious .

This was ok up until the last week or 2.i know were in a food and fuel crisis but I'm appalled at the 15 percent on each item! I thought it was a whole but no its each item u order so if u want an expensive Chinese take out then pls come here but I won't be any more

This is by far the worst takeaway I have ever had. The pad Thai was horrible, the crispy chilli beef we could not chew it was like leather, both of the dishes where not eaten and put it the bin, we picked at the Thai green curry and other dishes and they also ended up in the bin. I would not go back if I where starving 😫

Went here the other day for WWE Day1 drinks being that one stop was closed. Although I didn’t get food was impressed by the service. How ever i would recommend that they look into the small bottles of coke least that way you ain’t got to drink it all at once and you can re cap a bottle but obviously you can’t re cap a can.

In my opinion there are far better places to use.

We have been ordering regularly for the last 2 years, our go to for chinese, always hot and fresh and quick delivery. Our favourites are salt and pepper chips (cooked extra crispy) salt and pepper chicken, salt shredded chicken and crispy chilli beef, the duck in pancakes is lovely too! Just wish delivery was free if you spend a certain amount and that they would have apple tango in stock again, but they do have rio so i cant complain!

First time I've used this Chinese. The most disgusting meal ever! Dreadful rice, vile Chicken, never again...

The crispy chilli beef is so hard I can not eat it egg fried rice old. Don't reheat from lunch and sell at full price. Will go to thatcham for Chinese.

Dry, nasty egg-fried rice. And here, in the middle of a pandemic, they have a sign on the door saying a minimum £15 for card orders. So people forced to use cash like it's the 1980.

Really disappointed. As a shielder, I called from my car to let them know I was outside. When I called I was told my order wasn't ready for 5 minutes. Called back in 5 minutes, was put on hold for a further 7 minutes and then when they responded they shouted my food was ready 5 minutes before and handed me cold food, knowing I live out in the villages.

Ordered a delivery today. Worst Chinese I've ever had, waited an hour and a half. I had the chicken chow mein there was no sauce or flavor at all and the chicken wasnt cooked properly so couldn't eat it. I also had the salt and pepper chicken again it wasn't cooked so couldn't eat It. Egg fried rice, was brown all stuck together and again no flavour at all. Really Dissapointed as cost 20 quid, I was really hungry too and I literally couldn't eat it. Wouldn't eat from here again.

Delivery arrived in time, couldn't have been any hotter, good value and delicious

The Tom Yam soup was savoury soup, but it wasn't a Tom Yam. The pork with spring onion and ginger lacked seasoning and flavour. The occasional large piece of tough ginger was an unpleasant texture surprise. I had hoped for better, this really wasn't very good.

Enjoyed a nice takeaway recommend the spare ribs with sweet and sour sauce. Overall the experience was pleasant good value and delivery for a small fee I would use again.

This is the Second time we have ordered from here and the second time was just as good as the first if not better the tofu was amazing in all the dishes and they were all full of flavour If u were thinking of trying here you won’t be disappointed

Had by far the worst Chinese takeaway yet tonight, very odd tasting “chicken” & completely taste free pork dish, pure fat & oil, avoid as anywhere else is better.

Very disappointed we have just ordered chicken chow mein old style and chicken satay, the chicken in the chow mein tasted off and the texture was spongy and had no gravy/sauce it also was cold in the middle I am not convinced it had been freshly cooked? The chicken in the satay was just horrible, I know on the website it says to return the meal for a refund but we did not want to make another trip to take it back. We have used this take away for years and on the odd occasion the chicken has been awful but this has happened the last couple of times I am sorry to say I don't think we will use them again

God little Chinese on a chavvy estate

Food is tasty but be warned they are not careful with mixing meat / non meat. Placed an order and collected last night, specifically asked for vegetarian spring rolls, (normally 4 per pack) received one duck and three vegetarian, as a vegetarian myself I wasn't too happy!

We always get our takeaway here. Love it.
