East One in Dudley

Not great, we ordered a take away, and when they told us the price they said it was £43.00 when actually it was £33.00. They quickly agreed but that put doubt in making the order. The food was luke warm, not much flavour in both curries we had. The peshwari nan was bland and very dry, awful mushroom pilu rice that had hard peas in it????? Mint dip not great, only thing that was good was the red dip. As this was the first time we ordered from them, unfortunately this will be the last.

Had the special offer which is available Sundays and Thursdays. Great value for money and such good food. Well worth a visit.

As this was our first experience here after recommendation from a friend we were booked in for sat 9th dec. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely smartly dressed young man who took us to our table. He even offered to hang our coats...how nice. Drinks ordered ..menu observed and we were spoilt for choice. Food was delivered and it did not disappoint. Chicken succulent and NOT dry. A meal both my partner and myself enjoyed and will certainly return. A huge well done guys your service and cleanliness are a credit to you all. Glenda and john

Have ordered lots of takeaways from east one and been happy but tonight for some reason after ordering chips which we have every time as a side dish we were delivered French fries. Not happy customers I’m afraid

Me and my other half turned up at 11pm and was pleasantly greeted by the staff and they gladly seated us for a meal. The food was absolutely beautiful. I had the chicken tikka pakora to start and the chicken balti as my main and both were brought to the table with style and a clear passion for the food by the staff. The mains were dished up at the table and elegantly set. We will definitely be returning regularly as we were blown away with the quality of the food and the customer service

Dine in service is attentive and prompt. Delivery service was complete opposite. I was told an hour delivery which I accepted, which turned into 1 hour 45mins. On my second chase call I asked what the issue was, and snapped at that its after bank holiday and I need to accept it. No apology. If he had given me a realistic timescale I would've ordered elsewhere.

This is my favourite curry place..lovely service food and ambience..we go for the early bird deal and it's all lovely..good old fashioned curry just how it's meant to be and the loveliest naans 👌👍

For over 20 years this year been my safe bet curry house. Never bad, never brilliant. Always decent. I went with two different groups of people last week, and had two of the best curries in years - literally! Now my go-to. Recommended!

The best curry around! I always get the jalfrezi or madras, and it is always wonderful. Service & interior are great. A must-visit!

Best Indian restaurant in Stourbridge/Wollaston...food is great

Absolutely treated awfully. A group of 7 friends in couples (apart from one) went in for some food on a night out. Popped in for a table no problem. Restaurant had 3/4 spare tables we were seated and ordered drinks On ordering food we were told the couple could not order mains to share. Although we were ordering sundries too After requesting the manager we were told in a rude manner we could not share a main so we left Upon leaving there was a table of 4 sharing 2 mains however we left with 5 empty tables and probably would have spent £150 especially with the price of the drinks Awful service

Lovely meal with our family. Staff are very friendly and food is always excellent. Don’t have too many beers, you may struggle to get back down the stairs.

We've been using this restaurant for many years. Eating in is always high quality. Friendly staff and amazing food. But over the last couple of years, delivery has gone down hill fast. We waited 2 hours for delivery after being told only 1. The food arrived cold. Burnt poppadoms. Missing a meal. Really disappointing. We've given up on them now as they've failed too many times. Such a shame.

Moved into the area 6 months ago and this was the first Indian cuisine we'd had. To this day it still is our go to. The food is always piping hot and full of flavour. Definitely recommend

What a shame. For 20+ years I've been visiting East One with various friends and family. It's become renowned for it's food quality and faultless service over the years. Tonight however, was the last time I'll be visiting... I was pretty ill after food poisoning from my last visit (salmon), but went back this evening as these things do sometimes happen unfortunately (albeit usually from my own cooking!). The food was good tonight and service excellent as always, until we simply queried the bill between 7 of us. A bunch of squiggles amounted to just under £100, without any breakdown provided whatsoever. The waiter recalculated it whilst trying to decipher/make up what the squiggles meant (drinks & deserts it transpired), only to find it was £20 cheaper... although the manager disagreed with that finding...by his own staff. From there on, he (manager) became quickly defensive, rude, showed zero respect for his customers and quickly created an unpleasant and hostile atmosphere. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a breakdown of any bill, especially when it's in excess of £200. Saying there "isn't enough room on the paper bill" (turn it over!), or you're "not like McDonald's, so don't have computers to itemize" are not valid excuses. As I say, real shame as the staff work very hard to make your visit an enjoyable one, but I won't be taken for a mug through toxic practices or spoken to with such disregard and unpleasantness again.

Lovely food, have been going here for a number of years. However there have been numerous times we have questioned the accuracy of the bill. This evening we went for a family meal, we questioned the bill and staff became diffensive, unable to account for some of the charges on the bill, asked for a break down as unable to read the scribbles on the bill and came to £20 less than the original bill. Can't pull the wool over our eyes I'm afraid, we will be taking our custom elsewhere in future. Honesty is the best policy!

Absolutely amazing food, very flavorful and reasonably priced. The staff were very nice and were on the ball. Can't fault this restaurant at all and I will be coming back for more.

Food was lovely, didn’t really look at menu as we always have same things. Hadn’t been in since before covid and it was nice to see it had been refurbished inside. Everything was fine till the bill came! 6 popadoms cost £8.10, main meals and starters were reasonably priced but the drinks were a fortune. 2 bottles of cobra and 2 glasses of wine were a shocking £27.60! 2 of us paid a total of £69.95! Will be no popadoms and just tap water if I go back 😂

We ordered the Lamb special, you have to order it at least 24hrs in advance, there was 4 of us,but we only ordered one special, which was just right. The Lamb was wonderful, very tender, and full of flavour, we had a chicken meal off the menu to accompany it. The whole night was very nice, and we all walked away stuffed. Drinks are a little expensive, and you can't take your own in.

Had the lamb special, absolutely wonderful, the lamb was tender and tasty, would definitely recommend.

Table was at 6.45 and we were still there are 10.30. Food and ordering took an awful long time which they did acknowledge and knocked a bit off the bill. Food was ok. Drinks were extremely expensive. Felt sorry for the waiters as it's not their fault and they were pleasant but won't be returning

Went there for New Years eve,they had a special offer of £24.95 for starter,main course any side plus 1 drink and a coffee,you couldn't order off the menu.If I'd ordered off the menu it would have been alot cheaper.There were 13 of us,3 of which were children which were £12.95,one child only had a naan bread which they still tried to charge £12.95 for.The service was slow to say the least.When the food did arrive the starters were good but all the curries that came after all tasted the same like they came from a packet.When the bill came we had to query everything as no prices were on there,they eventually agreed not to charge £12.95 for a naan but we still felt ripped off.If you do go here for a meal ask them to itemise the bill so you can check it carefully or you will be overcharged.Needless to say we won't be going back there,will stick with Red Forte in future.

We had our family Christmas meal here. They managed to book a table for us at very short notice as we had been let down by two other venues. The food was excellent and the staff very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely visit again.

Came here for a family meal on a Sunday night. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was really good and came out piping hot and tastes delicious. They do a deal on a Thursday or Sunday where you get 3 courses plus tea...

I am disappointed that they are not taking social distancing seriously enough! Tables crammed too close together! No track and trace system and a waiter that can’t keep his mask on !

The service and food were good. However, if you ask for a jug of water, they bring you a bottle of water which they charge you for. They are licensed and fleece you on the drinks. Shame they do this. Would use them more often...

This place is so good. The staff are fabulous with a detailed knowledge of the menu. Immaculate service so far removed from some of the rubbish you encounter. The food is first class and they have linen napkins. Very good value. Highly recommended

3rd visit and superb every time. More of an old school curry house with a great chef who serves up a different tasting dish every time. Achari Lamb (Not on the menu) was spicy and hot with a pathia that was equally tasty. Waiter managed to find a good bottle of NZ sauvignon blanc (Not on the menu) all washed down with chilled cobra and complimentary brandy. Great friendly service at a reasonable price

I went to this restaurant tonight and was blown away by the service, quality and quantity of food provided. £10 per head for poppadoms, onion salad, chutneys, starter, main dish, side dish and coffee all served to you at the table. Every Thursday and Sunday evening is eat for £10. You simply cannot go wrong here. Even the standard a la carte menu is not dear for a licenced Restaurant. Great value for money!

we had to wait a decent amount of time for our meals, they were very nice. Me and my friends felt quite uncomfortable though as we were seated in the table in the middle, this didn’t affect us majorly. Overall i had a really nice curry and I will definitely be returning.

First time for me eating at East One. Climbing the stairs you enter into a rather dated small room, wondering if the food will be the same. I was pleasantly surprised......The staff are very friendly, nothing too much trouble. The menu is varied and very reasonably priced. Drinks are a little on the pricey side. A large wine £5.40. Bacardi and coke £4.80

Eat there as a large group last night, 18 of us, food was good quality, piping hot and filling. Staff very friendly and attentive, nothing was to much trouble. Going back in a fortnight. 👍

Group of 7 of us went, celebrating a birthday. They took our drink order straight away. Had a pint of diet coke which was flat. Given menus and waited some time for our orders to be taken. Asked if we wanted more drinks. Was this the reason we were kept waiting? Had 4 small onion bahjees which were overcooked and hard. Prawn curry for main, which was nothing special, but was ok. Staff seemed friendly. It was ok but other places are better. Won't be rushing back, but it was ok.

We finally tried this place a few months ago as we had heard some positive feedback about this restaurant and if I’m being honest I was slightly disappointed. The food was just okay nothing more nothing less, it wouldn’t put me off from trying it again as maybe we caught it on an off day.

I am a regular for East One takeaway service and decided to eat at the restaurant with friends.

We have eaten Indian food from this restaurant many times usually takeaway. The food is always so tasty very enjoyable definitely would recommend.If ordering takeaway on a Saturday order early as very busy.

As others have said the décor is dated and a bit shabby. Didn't realise it was licensed so was unable to take own drinks although I only wanted water anyway which meant I was charged for a bottle of Volvic. Food was OK but not the most generous portions and even though the dishes were placed on hot plates the actual dining plates were stone cold which had the obvious impact on the food temperature. Service friendly but a bit haphazard with items of food arriving in a random order and at various intervals rather than in order and at the same time. Not a disaster by any means but for me this was my first and last visit as there are much better options in the area.

I will never recommend this place to anyone...

Arranged at the last minute, good night out, food was of a good standard, staff were friendly and helpful, the decor was a little unusual, a bit like an explosion in a curtain factory ! Would return without hesitation.

My wife and I love visiting Asian Restaraunts. We keep returning to East One. Why? It is friendly, the food is good and varied, prices are reasonable - and it is somewhere we want to return to - time and time again.All of our visits and we have never had the slightest cause to complain about anything.

Been going here a long time and regularly order a takeaway. Have previously reviewed this restaurant praising the food but commented on rude owner/ manager.I Ordered a takeaway off the menu last night and noted down price which is unusual for me to do. Placed my order and was quoted a price a few pounds more than I had got the bill to. When I queried the price I was told it was correct. I then said I had got the bill to a different price and had taken the prices off the most current menu. I was told that I had ordered slightly off the menu hence the extra cost. I said I had ordered dishes exactly off the menu, the only difference being was that I requested chips in a bag rather than a tin( as they go soggy) The manager went quiet and stuttered on for a moment then said that as I wanted chillis in my curry and chips in a bag this was extra?? I reminded him of course I wanted chillis as I had ordered a chicken tikka chilli masala!! How can that be extra when it is part of the meal? And surely a bag for the chips is actually cheaper than the tin? He still tried to insist it was extra but I stood my ground whilst I could hear his calculator frantically being tapped in the back ground! He then quoted the exact price I had written down (surprise surprise!) but even then his attitude was awful and I very nearly told him to cancel the order. I just thanked him and agreed to place the order. I was asked if poppodums were wanted and I said the same as I always do and just asked for the usual free ones please. On receipt of the food the manager had ensured that the poppodoms were missing and the chips in the bag were miniscule and had not sent a full portion. All I can say is that this attitude just confirms my previous review. ATTITUDE beyond belief! What a vile rude man he is. this is the first time I have noted the price so god knows how many times I've been overcharged without realising!Sorry for the staff as they will soon be out of a job with this arrogant man running the place. We will never use it again. Wollaston is swamped with very good Indian restaurants so he needs to be careful as he will have no business left to run. Do not go here!!! But if you must, work out your bill or prepared to be overcharged!!
