Unexpectedly outstanding It is an unpretentious location..out the back of the Holiday Property Bond St Brides Castle. The stylishly decorated room would have wonderful views when it is not dark or raining. The food is brilliant. The local lamb in a very tasty source is amazing. Twice the quantity at half the price of anywhere else. We have visited many times and everything, including challenging items like Calamari are perfectly prepared. Wonderful to find chips dry and crispy on the outside, not mushy inside. The young and enthusiastic 'staff' are very accomplished and provide a 'Michelin' standard of service. A hidden gem …go now before they get that Star!

When I tried to book, one link said the bistro was “permanently closed “. It wasn’t until I contacted Reception that I managed to book. They are very much not closed, and the meal we had was terrific. I had the special: cod with a delicious sauce. My husband opted for slow cooked lamb, which he pronounced equally delicious. My starter of mushrooms was lovely, whereas,my husband was disappointed with the quantity of venison pate though not with the quality. Being greedy, we both had a dessert; sorbet for me, ice cream for him. Service was faultless.

We had dinner here one night whilst 4 of us were staying at St Brides. Service was good but food was mediocre at best. Two of us had duck breast which was a special and we have never had such overcooked duck, absolutely no hint of pink and dry. We pointed this out to the waiter but no come back to us. Slow roasted lamb was OK but nothing special. It was a shame as if our experience had been better we would certainly have booked for more nights during our week long stay.

We dined on two occasions at Dylan's during our short stay and were delighted at both times. The service was exceptional; friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I especially enjoyed the Sirloin steak. My wife loved the fish and chips. On another night we had sea-bass and king prawns, which was also very good. The range of beers and wines was tempting. The tables were well spaced and the booking system ensured no over-crowding. We would highly recommend to our fellow HPB travellers.

We ate at Dylan's Bistro during our recent stay in St Brides Castle, and we were very impressed. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. Our choices included a generous portion of whitebait as a starter, and an excellent smoked salmon risotto and a chicken and mushroom pasta as main courses. The food was clearly freshly made. All in all, this was a really good meal, and one of the highlights of our stay. Definitely recommended!

We all chose the slow cooked lamb, and it was excellent! Served with potatoes and veg, and it was no problem to accommodate gluten and dairy allergies. Had a nicely put together meringue, berries and vegan cream for dessert. It's not a huge menu, but that's often a good sign it's all fresh. Lovely views, and very good service. Arrived at St Brides Castle on 28th Dec 2018 for a week to see the New Year in. Had a meal on arrival as it was Fish Night and also Quiz Night. We settled on COD chips and mushy peas - all really very nice - the fish excellent we also had puds - fruit crumble and cream for my husband. I had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream - again really nice but my husband said his crumble needed more fruit. We also had a meal here on New Years Eve. We had preordered our meals. Prosecco was served on arrival before being shown to our table. My advocardo bisque with prawns was nice but not very warm but had plenty of prawns. My husband had the antipasti which he was quite happy with. We both had John Dory with prawns served with potatoes and leeks baked with cream steamed carrots broccoli and cauliflower. I had chocolate tart with ice cream and hubby had welsh cheeses biscuits pickles and celery and grapes. We were given a warm welcome on arrival service was prompt staff friendly and helpful. This is our second year here and we will probably be here again next year! So obviously are happy to recommend.

A great place to eat. The staff are lovely and there is an excellent menu. They always have at least one vegan option available (starter, main, and dessert), and with forewarning (they suggested a couple of days), they can make other vegan options. The team also said the vegetarian main was adaptable to be vegan. With gorgeous views, a calm atmosphere, and no feeling of being rushed through the meal, we enjoyed a very relaxing evening. We returned later during our stay and had breakfast, which was also lovely. We'd notified the staff which day we planned to stop off for breakfast, and they'd bought in some vegan sausages especially. Brilliant service!

Main courses that we had were; 10oz Gammon that was superb, slow cooked lamb that the wife described as 'to die for', meat pie that dad said was 'wonderful' and Mum had a haddock rarebit that she said was superb but maybe a cheese sauce or something with it to stop it being so dry? The staff were all very friendly and helpful. All together the bill with drinks was £102. In our opinion that was excellent value for money. And the view of the bay whilst eating is amazing.

We had 3 meals in the bistro, all were well presented and tasty. The staff were very efficient and helpful, price wise they were compatible to other eating places in the neighbourhood and being in the complex it was an easy walk back to the apartment after having a relaxing drink rather than having to drive down the narrow lanes. Reading some of the comments and reviews I cannot understand what people want and expect from an eating place. We would recommend a visit when staying nearby.

We stayed at St. Brides for a week and we were very much looking forward to there being a restaurant and bar onsite. Initial impressions were great. We didn't book, just walked in and ordered some drinks while we looked at the menu. I was a little annoyed that the large bottle of sparkling water I ordered wasn't chilled as it lost it's fizz very quickly despite lashings of ice.I have NOTHING to complain about with the food. To all the people who have complained, yes the menu could be more imaginative etc... but that not the sort of restaurant Dylan's is. If you think it's nothing special and you could have made it yourself, go back to your room and make it yourself. The main point of a restaurant is not primarily how it compares to your own cooking ability, but that someone cooks for you and you don't have to do the washing up. It's not Gorden Ramsay's or Jamie Oliver's. It's very good pub grub.End of rant. Now, onto why I've rated it only 3 stars. Despite my satisfaction with the food, the soft drink selection and serving condition is not great. It later turned out that none of the drinks were chilled which isn't great when the temperatures have been over 20 degrees celsius. How hard is it to store drinks in an under the bar chiller. Such a simple change, but it would make a world of difference. The soft drink selection comprises of bottles of Coke, Diet Coke, Appetiser and one flavour of J2O. There are some other very small 100ml mixer bottles, but you'd need to order 2 or 3 of them to fill a glass. Then there's the coffee. This is for me one of the main reasons for my rating. They have a professional coffee machine and grinder which they must have a spent a few bob on, but they appear to have invested very little in training their staff to use it. The cappuccino I received didn't have enough froth on it to cover the coffee and it didn't look or taste like anything better than cheap coffee. I don't think the cappuccino was made with milk and espresso, more like half an americano topped up with some microwaved milk. I'm not suggesting that was what I received, but it wasn't good coffee. We went down for a drink another time and in all the time we were there for both visits, nobody else ordered a coffee. What bothers me is that the hopper on the grinder was full to the brim, which suggests that the coffee beans are being left in there for too long. They should be used within 3-4 days, not a problem for a busy coffee shop, but a big problem for Dylan's.My suggestion is that Dylan's need to invest in training their staff to use the coffee machine well and to look after the quality of the coffee beans. They could make a really nice feature of it as I'm sure there are plenty of people visiting St. Brides who like coffee. Also, buy a fridge to cool your soft drinks and increase the range of soft drinks (they don't expire very quickly). I don't really understand why you open at 2pm. Missing out on the lunch trade there too!

Beautiful view, but that is about all you can say. The food is over priced for what you get. I started with Fish Goujons, paid £4.50 and got 3 small rather over cooked Goujons which contained practically no fish, mostly batter! The peppercorn steak when it came was very average and some of which was inedible. The amount of sauce that came in the small jug was laughable, the tiniest bit in the bottom that barely covered the steak. the chips were soggy and all together it had the look and taste of a school dinner. We were thinking of eating there a few times during our stay but once was plenty.

Whilst staying at St Brides castle for a short break we ate dinner her one evening. It's very convenient being on the site but other than that there's very little to say. The staff were friendly but when I asked some really simple questions about one item on the menu and what non alcoholic drinks they have (pregnant lady) I got "I don't know". No offer to go find out just that...bit odd. The menu choice was ok although the only 2 vegetarian meals lacked any sort of imagination (and the Thai curry was very, very bland). I had garlic chicken which was quite nice, and my boyfriend had lamb cawl which he enjoyed. Overall though it's just very average food. We booked this for an evening meal on the first night of our holiday, staying at St. Bride's. This restaurant may be on site but is not connected to the HPB owned castle in any way. We are not difficult to please but we all agreed that the food there was the worst we could ever remember having at any restaurant. The vegetables had absolutely no flavour. Carrots were definitely from a freezer. I had the chicken with what was described as a "cream" garlic sauce. When it arrived it was white, and I mean really white! It was cooked fine and was a nice piece of chicken but it must have cooked in a microwave because it completely lacked any colour at all. The sauce was thin and tasted of nothing, no hint of garlic whatsoever. Other members of our party were in agreement that the food was a terrible standard considering where the restaurant is based. Maybe we went on the usual chef's day off or they had just changed hands but it was really very bad! The sweet course afterwards was not bad, fairly average but better than the mains,

The food was pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered some rustic bread and oil to nibble whilst we waited for our main course. We didn't expect 'rustic' bread to closely resemble a white baguette. Our main course arrived an hour after we had entered the bistro. Maybe the booking system does not reflect the capacity of the kitchen. On questioning the delay we were told that the restaurant was busy but it appeared to be less than half full. Despite this restaurant being on site for the HPB property we chose not to revisit.

The restaurant was very quiet on the night we visited during the school half term holidays, this was our first visit here and thought that was somewhat strange. Our party of 6 adults and a hungry 3 year old were seated at one end of the cool room and far away from the other diners, just 6 people in total. We were apprehensive that this may effect the meal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the menu was simple but adequate to our needs and prices looked average to other establishments in the area. On arrival the food was plain and nothing particularly special. Perhaps the great meal we had the previous night made our expectations high, but overall we were slightly disappointed. As HPB Bondholders we first used this bistro three years ago and had a culinary disaster then but we decided as we are currently staying at St Brides Castle to give this place another try. I am very sorry that we returned to this place. The meal I had was minted lamb steaks with fries and vegetables and the lamb transpired to be tough and tasteless, I could have been eating an old pair of leather walking boots, and come to think of it this could have been an improvement! Welsh lamb it certainly wasn't. As HPB Bondholders staying in the most beautiful part of Pembrokeshire we are a kind of captured clientele for this bistro unless we are prepared to drive out along the narrow lanes at night to a local village hostelry. You would therefore think that the proprietors of this place would make a special effort to get it right. The place is run by folks who appear clueless in how to prepare a nice tasty simple meal and yet again an example of an establishment that uses bought in produce for convenience to maximise turnover. This is our second and last visit to this place and the recommendation would be to potential future clientele to give this place a wide berth and pass it by..............

Went to this restaurant on the HPB St Brides Castle site twice whilst staying for a week. First time with family including children, second time with friends. no complaints. Good friendly service, lovely position overlooking St Brides Bay and nice wine.Obviously a variety of meals eaten over the two nights and no complaints at all, despite what some previous reviewers have said. They do some interesting local curries as well as standard British fare with an emphasis on fish

We live in the village. Keen to support local business ... but sorry... Awful. The food was awful! Dry and old. They did offer an alternative but it was SO awful that I was happy to leave. Never again.

Went for lunch at this venue yesterday. Don't order the garlic mushroom starter as it's a rip off. Got one puny slice of bread with what would probably equate to about two button mushrooms and creamy sauce, although it tasted great, come on £7.95 for this. Previously had more value for money with the previous owners. The small plate ham & egg was very good though and the service off Gleisny was good as always.

Didn’t disappoint. Lovely meals all served with humongous Yorkshire puds! Lashings of gravy and the cheesy leek dish was the best!
