Dutch Mill Hotel Restaurant in Aberdeen City

I frequent the Dutch mill only for drink and food and have never actually stayed there. The food and service has always been very good. And they can accommodate large parties with their 'gazebo' type thing at the front.

The Dutch Mill is a nice building. I liked the look of the inside. The seats were comfortable and the food was good. We had no problems with the staff. They were all very busy but took the time to check up on us, take orders etc. Very nice lassies. However, our experience was somewhat ruined by the noise from the bar. If it wasn't the drunk sports fans, it was a hen party (or whatever it was) or obnoxious music. It was just endless throughout our couple of hours there. My daughter, wife, sister in law, parents and myself all left with stinking headaches. I get the idea that it's a bar etc, but when there's a meal area out back. You'd think that both areas would be closed off from one another. We could barely hear ourselves talk. It was quite annoying, honestly. The entrance to the building is also through some awful tent thing in what was the car park. It was full of obnoxiously loud air heads. It made us feel uncomfortable, having to weave my 8 year old through so many loud drunken individuals before we even got to the front door. Considering the lack of parking, it might be wiser to utilise that area properly again. I highly doubt it, because money. Right? The Dutch Mill Hotel could be a really nice place. It's visually quite nice, the staff were spot on and the food was good. But that atmosphere made the place feel like some tacky sports bar, which seems to be the fad for that street from what I saw tonight. It pretty much guarantees we'll never be back.

Went for a meal.in a large group. The team were very friendly, attentive and efficient. Despite being over 16 in the group, all the foods came out together and fast with no mistakes. Brilliant. Would come back

Fantastic hotel with a great restaurant and bar area. The rooms were clean and well equipped . Biggest plus though was the staff, excellent friendly and professional.

Very nice bar and restaurant, excellent food with generous portions!😀😀Also show all football matches and sporting events on over 10 large screens inside and two massive screens in the outdoor canopied area which is great during the nice weather!!

Saff were very helpful. Room was very clean. Bathroom was very clean.Bed was a little hard but had a good sleep.For me the shower 🚿 was small. Not many places they could put. Parking was a little problem. I had to park on the main road on a single yellow line. If you have a small car you will have no problem. Yes I would stay there again.

Booked a table for 12 people midday on a Saturday, meaning it wasn’t too busy. Being a place I’ve visited many times before over the years I expected a lot better. Food was good throughout, however service was below par and the wait times for food to come out left a bad taste. Sitting nearly 3 hours for a 2 course meal is quite appalling, waiting over an hour for just desserts is also somewhat ridiculous. When dessert did come out 3 were missing as they’d been put through as “caramel sauce” instead of “sundae”. 20 mins later after everyone else had finished they appeared. To then see the bill with the mistaken sauce still on there as well as the sundae sums up the lack of care and attention. Not sure what has happened since my last visit however it seems things have went replied downhill, I will not be returning in a hurry.

went to the dutch mill for a birthday anniversary of my dad who is no longer with us . service was horrendous got left to wait for food for an hour and a half baring in mind we had six kids waiting hungry they took the food out in parts when the food did arrive my sister sent hers back as it was cold my partners rice was hard and the fish was stodgy really not good been here a few years ago was much better then was really a big let down won’t be attending again sadly .

Went there for a birthday celebration lunch for my 78th birthday. Menu looked to have a reasonable selection of meals. Ordered up steak pie and fish and chips for the main course. On arrival my wife chips were cold so it was returned. Arrive back with fresh hot chips. When my wife cut into the fish she was faced with undercooked fish. Returned yet again. When it came back the fish was overcooked and my wife could just get the knife into it. Chef trying to make a point? Got the server and asked for the bill. He said the fish would not be charged for. Skill set of the chef needs to have a lesson on how to fry fish.

Food delicious. Service very good. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend 😊 We stayed overnight and enjoyed comfy beds and clean room.

We really appreciated the staff going an extra mile for me and my family. Alternative arrangements were made for us to enjoy a more quiet and comfortable space during a busy time a lively football match! I insisted on asking the member of staffs name, Campbell. This bar is a place for everyone to enjoy and feel welcome!

Such lovely restaurant staff at the Dutch Mill. So tolerant of our flaky family timings and very obliging. The bar was very lively and the staff thoughtfully closed the restaurant doors so we could continue to chat. Food was excellent- clean plates all round and it’s definitely value for money.

I recently attended The Dutch Mill to celebrate my hen night. I wanted somewhere that served high quality food and drinks, so there was never any doubt about booking The Dutch Mill as it is always amazing food and service. Despite us booking for up to 30 people, they did not require us to pre-order, which to me speaks volumes about the calibre of chef's they employ. We ended up with a party of about 20 due to illness, but things couldn't have ran more smoothly. The food was served quickly, was hot and every single person raved about how good their meals were. The staff were so friendly and efficient throughout. We enjoyed many cocktails - all of which were delicious. The menu was so accommodating for all diet needs - some of our were after a lighter bite whereas others were eating their only meal for the day - it is often hard to get a venue that accommodates both at the same time.

I had to adjust my booking 3 times and it was never an issue, the staff, service and meals were fantastic. First class as always well done

The hotel was one of the best on my tour of Scotland. The staff was extremely friendly. From old fashion checkin to clean roomy rooms. The bar scene was fantastic. Watched a football game and thought I was in an episode of Ted Lasso. Food was a notch above bar food and the restaurant service was great. Thanks to Finley, Sully, and Chris. You made the stay great!

We hired the room to the right for my daughters 18th and I'll tell you what the staff made it a great night. They were so attentive especially the manager assistant. We handed in decorations to come in early and decorate which was done for our arrival and the bill was less than we expected giving all the drinks and meals. Reasonable prices for a beautiful and vibrant bar/restaurant that don't overcharge like other places on the street. Thankyou. We will be back (for a fourth time)

An excellent stopover hotel in Aberdeen. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Well stocked bar and also a wide ranging bar and restaurant menu. It is a busy place but very well organised and managed. Bedrooms were very clean with very comfortable beds. Rooms were very nicely fitted out and decorated. En-suite bathrooms were immaculate. Breakfast in the morning was first class in a very nice breakfast room. Staff throughout were very friendly and helpful. Service levels were superb. Although a popular and very busy venue, there is a really good chilled atmosphere about the place. Will return.

We are here on a Sunday dinner time. The bar and restaurant were very busy, however the staff were attentive, friendly and the service was very good. We didn’t have long to wait for our food or drinks. The food was delicious and there were lots of options for everyone and specials too. Three of my party had burgers and they looked exceptional and all our plates were emptied! It was great value for money and we will be returning again.

The staff were really very accommodating, the food very good, the bedrooms well equipped and very clean plus our bed very comfortable (though friends in Room 4 found theirs hard?). The only real downside was actually the popularity of the place on our 2nd night there when a football game was on TV in the main bar. It became very crowded and the noise continued until late on that particular night and our room (room 1) was above the bar. I would recommend an anti slip mat in the shower as the base was very slippy. As an aside parking onsite could be tricky for those with larger vehicles as it's a very narrow entrance and exit. I'd go back without hesitation and I'm pleased they have such a good customer base!

Regularly visit when in Aberdeen. Great for good food and pleasant atmosphere. Always good value to eat.

Had a fantastic afternoon celebrating my 50th birthday with 12 of my friends. We were able to book and area from 1200 for 7 hours. We ordered Buffet menu B and it was excellent. Great selection of nibbles that were nice and hot, and sandwiches, salad, dips, and a chilli bowl with nachos. The Manager and staff were brilliant. Especially a lovely young lady called Summer who took great care of us. Nothing was any problem to her and she even joined in the banter, which we love. Nice surroundings, great atmosphere and clean toilets!!

This is a nice place to go for a drink, but the food is very average at above average prices.For example, the chicken fillets are huge, but the batter or breadcrumb coatings were completely bland and tasteless.The chips are cheap frozen ones.The burger didn’t seem made on the premises either, just bought in and cooked there.I wouldn’t even try the likes of the curry as I’ve zero faith it’s made there and I think you’d just be getting something from Costco.Far more effort is needed on the food for the prices charged.

Very clean and spacious place to dine. Excellent hygiene and safety measures in place. We had a meal during a football match so it was very busy but it felt very safe and the food was delicious.

All of the staff were absolutely amazing and took care of us all evening. Drinks were great and shout out to Georgina for the great chat and personal service

It’s been a tough time for hospitality so it’s great to eat out again. Been many times to Dutch Mill. Food always good including this visit but service was atrocious. Had to ask for EVERYTHING! Felt invisible. It spoiled our lovely weekend and we won’t be back. Did notice the tables of young people ordering shots and cocktails got plenty of attention though. Realised that being ignored in a restaurant is on a par with bad food. Always keen to support family businesses so I hope you’ll sort out your staff.

Myself and my friend were in for lunch today. Arrived early and were shown straight to our table. Excellent service. Food was amazing too.

Went with my flat mates to watch the football had a nice meal and a couple of drinks staff were very nice and friendly only thing wrong was some plonkers at the next table thought it would be good to cheer and spout some sectarian verbal against a Scottish team playing in a European game and almost started a fight idiots. Having said this it wasn't anything the staff could have done just mindless football fans looking for a way to vent I will not hesitate to go back to the Dutch mill the next time i am in Aberdeen

Server very apologetic that she had forgotten our drinks order, took 30 minutes to get them. We were then told we had to drink then and leave immediately, given our bill which about 7 gins on it we hadnt had aswell as several bottles of Fever tree and Shweppes tonic that no one had been drinking. They took us back our "corrected " bill which still had gins on it we didnt have. Staff changed the bill without argument which was fine, however the next customers needed our table so we were asked to go upstairs. Upstairs, a very rude man spoke to me like a child and told me to get back down the stairs. I told him we had been told to come upstairs to sort our bill. Again he told me to get back to my table with an angry frustrated expression. I politely told him there were new customers at our table thus we could not. At this point a very polite member of staff came running up and went and sorted our bill apologising profusely. Shambolic, won't be back, very shocked the service was so poor.

Paid another visit to this fantastic restaurant tonight with my 3 sons and their partners to celebrate my youngest sons 16th birthday. 6 of us sat in our respective households following the guidelines set out by the government. Would have like to have all sat together but understandably we could not. Very few places could have accommodated at present but we were glad to have got a reservation here. That said we still had a fantastic meal served by fantastic staff. The soup of the day was haggis, neaps & tatties. Four of the six of us decided to give it a try. It was so nice. I can honestly say it was one of the best soups I have had in a restaurant ever. Warmed us up on a chilly autumn evening a treat. I had the steak pie for my main meal and it was equally as good as the soup. We would have liked to have stayed longer but could only brave the cold for so long. We will definitely be back and I would highly recommend to anyone to also pay a visit if you can.

Had 3 courses during lunch, none were good. Haggis overcooked, and dessert didn't seem fresh. Service was very good, and covid set up good.

Comí aquí anoche con la señora. Tenemos una mesa en la gran carpa que llena el área del estacionamiento delantero. El personal no podría haber sido más útil y cuentan con un buen sistema de seguimiento y localización.La comida era comida de pub decente. Fui por el Haggis Bon Bons como entrante (5. 95) que estaban bien, y elegí el Steak Pie como plato principal (10. 95) que estaba bastante sabroso y venía con una buena porción de zanahorias, guisantes y papas. La señora optó por los Chili Nachos como entrante y el Seabass como plato principal, y se burló de ambos.La factura llegó a 40 antes de que se aplicaran nuestros descuentos, que estaba bien. Me encantaría comer aquí de nuevo, y recomendaría este lugar a la gente que quiera una comida de pub sin lujos donde pueda ver deportes en televisores de pantalla grande en un ambiente informal.

I visited here with a friend for dinner. Neither of us had been there for awhile and both commented on how nice all of the staff were. They were friendly and helpful. The food was also really nice although we waited a little while for it as the place was so busy. The great atmosphere made the wait seem not too bad

Acabo de regresar esta noche de una comida familiar. Las primeras impresiones del aparcamiento se convirtieron en una carpa muy básica, especialmente en comparación con el Chesterfield de la calle. Pero estábamos dispuestos a aceptar en las circunstancias actuales. El servicio fue inicialmente excelente (joven cabello rubio) y luego parecía ser gratis para todos con una variedad de servidores. ¡Todo esto sería tolerable si nos hubiéramos sentido seguros de los niveles de limpieza, absolutamente ningún personal usaba una máscara ni nadie entraba! No nos pidieron que nos desinfectamos las manos antes de sentarnos. Vimos a una niña limpiar una mesa y sillas ni una sola vez usando el aerosol desinfectante (paño viejo), esto parecía reservado solo para el menú. ¡También tuvimos un miembro del personal que nos sirvió con una gran chaqueta negra de piel sintética y piel! Totalmente antihigiénico, todos los uniformes deben ser lavables. Finalmente, la comida mediocre realmente solo piensa en una especie de lugar de comida de pub. Hemos viajado por toda Escocia en las últimas dos semanas desde Cullen Inverness a Skye y este fue, con mucho, el restaurante menos preparado por COVID que hemos visitado.

We went to celebrate a friends 50th birthday. Table booked for 6 pm - 12 adults and 3 young children. It took nearly 15 minutes for staff to ask what we wanted to drink. We had to ask them to take the order for food - we had 3 young children with us who needed feeding. Some of the drinks arrived, but we had to ask 3 times for one of the glasses of diet coke and the 2 glasses of wine took over half an hour to arrive (and that was only after several requests) , the late arrival of the drinks was probably actually a blessing in disguise as we were not offered the chance of a second drink.I know it was very busy but why take so many bookings and not have the staff to serve them.Prior to the main meals we were given bread rolls to eat, however several of us were still eating those bread rolls when the staff started to clear away the side plates Some meals were good but the Strathdon chicken probably required a steak knife to cut it as it was so tough-I felt sorry for the person who had booked this for us,and i had hoped that this could be another venue we could visit again -however, based on this experience we won't be going back

Good food as always homemade chicken liver pate is beautiful ,scampi chips and beans lovely also cooked perfectly

Las fiestas navideñas suelen ser asuntos muy ocupados y esto no fue una excepción para el Dutch Mill. Empacar tres sesiones en el restaurante significa que algo tiene que ceder, y en este caso la comida atendida en masa era claramente promedio mientras que los precios eran altos. El personal era amable y se esforzó al máximo.

Tuve otra comida encantadora hoy Merluza y cigalas de limón 3 comidas 3 clientes satisfechos, El personal es muy servicial, no hay problema, pusieron una rampa como usuarios de sillas de ruedas, el personal es muy amable, atento y amable. . . . Had an early evening meal with my wife and daughter today and was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The "Dutch mill burger" was tastles and tough, obviously made with very cheap meat. The chicken goujons were soggy and dripping in grease. Service was good, place is nice but let down by the quality of the food.

Another great night at the Dutch mill. We booked it for a small party of people. We had a room to ourselves at the front which was perfect. Staff were friendly and attentive as always without being all over us. Food was great and very well priced. Will definitely be coming back.

I had scampi here on a Sat night recently. The best scampi I have ever tasted. Restaurant was very busy though, lucky to get a table.

The best I have had anywhere as treated a group of 8. Also, lovely outside smoking area secluded but with full bar service and even a button to ring for attention. Will be going back for sure

This is a hopping place so we were fortunate to get an early table and enjoy some starters. Nachos, spicy potato wedges were so good.

Food to a good standard all round, tends to be a bit noisy from the bar area and sometimes a lot of children which is not great.

The express menu on offer in the afternoon was very comprehensive and catered for all tastes. The presentation and standard of the food was excellent and not overpriced. Service was friendly and efficient.

The Dutch Mill is a busy bar in the west end of Aberdeen popular with the after work crowd. There are two real ales on the bar and an outdoor terrace with seating if the weather is fine. Carpark front and rear or free parking after six pm on nearby streets.

I had a great meal when here with my family. The whole family had something different and all of us finished our plates!

Went to the Dutch Mill for lunch while in Aberdeen on business. We were served quickly by a very helpful waitress and the food was great. I had soup and a club sandwich which were both excellent. The soup was homemade, thick and had plenty of taste. The club was a really good size and more than adequate for a lunch.

Greeted by a warm smile and then another.. Plenty of staff on and all were truley lovley. A delightful warm establishment!

I was more than impressed with my stay here for two nights. The rooms were clean & spacious and the restaurant was great for lunch & dinner (Family friendly) with nice staff. They also offered a really nice gin menu with a selection of great Gins through in the bar. My wife & I will definitely be going back.

La habitación es de buen tamaño. Esta era la habitación más moderna y moderna que teníamos en Escocia, fuera de Glasgow y Edimburgo. La cama es muy incómoda. El colchón era horrible. Me dolió mucho la espalda. De los 13 hoteles / b & b que nos hospedamos en Irlanda y Escocia, este fue el único con una cama incómoda. I ate here with friends on a Saturday night. The bar area was busy with football being shown. They seemed to have a good selection of craft beers if you're into that sort of thing. There is a limited amount of car parking at the front. The restaurant was very busy. The food was very tasty. I would eat here again.

Out for family lunch, we all had starters and mains, and some had sweets. All the food was very good and at a very reasonable price considering its in Aberdeen. The suroundings are really nice and the staff very freindy and helpful.

I stay here whenever I visit Aberdeen on business because you know what you’re getting and what to expect. The staff are great, the rooms are very comfortable and the food is very tasty (1/2 & 1/2 chilli con carne is superb).

I come to this pub probably once a week or once every 2 weeks and the service is excellent however the only thing that really bugs me is the whisky, they have a reasonable selection however they serve them in tumblers that you would usually put a vodka and coke in, this may seem trivial however it really does make a huge difference. Please fix this!

The restaurant is generally busy because of its location. They serve pub food but nothing about it is tasty or hearty like the surroundings/decor would have you believe. Frozen chips, veg,fish everything. Over cooked veg, terrible attempts at side salads. Sandwiches have little filling, baked potatoes bland. Unfortunately I have to visit here often due to work lunches.

I visited this hotel for a family lunch, the front car park was full so ended up having to park about half a mile away due to the restrictions on the street in front of the hotel. There is a rear car park but the lane to reach it is ridiculously narrow and seems barely wide enough for an average family saloon.

Basic food, can’t go horribly wrong. Large group who had baked potatoes, chicken curry, fish and chips or burgers. Did what it said on the tin, no more, or no less.

Had A couple of Christmas lunches and was lucky to get tickets for Hogmany. I can't tell you how great everything was. The food is great and always good portions and well priced. Hogmany was amazing, the buffet, the pipe band, the disco were brilliant and was not over crowded and the staff were all happy and attentive, the atmosphere was great, we all loved it Thank you

Visited here just after Christmas. Food superb!! Tasty and good size portions. Excellent service. Great menu choice with a good selection of specials too. Good value. Looking forward to our return visit.

Had dinner recently after not being here for a few years. Food just as good as I remembered. Wide ranging menu at reasonable prices. Service was quick despite being a busy Friday evening.

The food is great, the service was out of this world. Makes a difference going to a family run hotel and not a chain where the management care about their customers. Highly recommend

Had a family meal here, it was really busy but the service was very good. My food was very tasty and others thought so too. The chips weren’t great but plenty of them, think they just need to be cooked longer. Prices were very reasonable too.

We visited on a week night for a catch up with friends. I had the chicken Caesar salad. It was a generous bowl with chicken, bacon bits and croutons. It was lovely apart from some of the bacon bits being burnt which spoiled the taste a little.

On a very busy Saturday night the service was excellent. Good range of pub style meals. Burger with chilli very good, Strathdon Chicken tasty. Very good range of beers. Reasonable wine list. Served in the conservatory but if you fancied watching sport with your meal then the main bar has a number of screens. The Mill has been a fixture in Aberdeen pub scene for more than 45 years - easy to see why.

Used the hotel as an overnight stop whilst visiting friends in the area. Staff very friendly and helpful, very relaxed feel. Had a few drinks in the bar before going out and though we did not eat there on this occasion what I saw and smelt was very pleasing. We did breakfast there, perfect breakfast menu and very tasty, the poached eggs top notch.

Enjoyed a delicious business dinner for 8 in a large ground floor private room at the Dutch Mill in Aberdeen. Plenty of choice of main courses, with notably tasty, richly flavoured sauces served by polite, unobtrusive staff and good value final bill. Attractive decor in a characterful building about 30 minutes walk or short taxi ride out of Aberdeen centre.

I have not been here for ages as we moved down south. We were a little a early came before 12 noon for lunch and the only people but by 12:30 was filling up with people. My hubby had steak pie, my daughter & granddaughter had scampi and I had fish & chips. All the foods was delicious and everyone enjoyed their lunch. We will definitely come back again and highly recommend for pub grub!

Have used the Dutch mill on a number of occasions, for meals and just for catching up with friends over a drink.

Was in for lunch (and I wanted to see World Cup) with the wife I had the burger which I always get if I’m in the dutcher which never disappoints! Fast service with a smile 😃

The location of this restaurant is in an enchanting hotel. We were a large group of about 16, yet the service was great, prices reasonable, and food was excellent. Great ambiance.

Stayed in this wonderful hotel in one of the best streets in Aberdeen. The quality of food and service was quite simply, magnificent. If you are looking for a place to stay in the city, I highly recommend the Dutchmill.

I had a hard time choosing which beer to try, as the range of craft beers is extensive. Eventually I settled for an IPA, which was superb. I also had fajitas, which came in record time (under 5 mins) and were excellent. Service was outstanding. Even though it was midweek, the place filled up quickly, and when I was leaving (on foot) several people were trying (and failing!) to find a place to park.

Had a very enjoyable meal, son’s said it was the best fish they had. Very nice staff and very accommodating saw to or every needs. Lovely pleasant atmosphere never felt rushed a most enjoyable afternoon

Was here with friends for lunch on Friday. The seating is well laid out and comfy. The parking is a nightmare none of us got parked on the premises so cost £3 to eat there. The fish my friend had was fabulous she said. The burger my other friend had was a bit tough looking when she cut it but she didn't say it wasn't nice. My prawn baked potato which is what I usually have was very disappointing. The potato was very small and the chewy shrimps which I've never had there before were awful. One slice of cucumber one quarter tomato and one lettuce leaf is not a side salad. I've never had any complaints about the meal ive had before but this was disappointing.

Ate here late one evening, I swear my dinner arrived within 2 mins of ordering it, guess the chef was 'on a promise' but it was wonderful - chunky steak fries, great peas and succulent scampi with loads of tartar sauce mmmmmmmm Rob

Dutch Mill is the best The food is great the wine is a good price and the atmosphere is great Been going there for 42 years so no matter what age you are you feel comfortable

This place won’t win a Michelin star but does solid pub food. We go for a meal we know will be tasty and filling with no frills. I like that it comes with a choice of potatoes and veg usually. Nice interior too. Service is usually pretty good too.

We had lunch here. It was midweek so it wasn't that busy so staff were attentive and friendly.
