Tried over charging and then explained that if I had ordered online it would have been cheaper. He got caught out overcharging and tried to make excuses. In the end I walked out. avoid these thieves.

Stale sweets !! Shame that it was sold to customers like me. I would avoid visiting this place. Avoid !!!! I could sense that that place was dirty and people serving were not hygienic- at one point cleaning with wipes and next second using the same hand to put the samosas in the paper bags !!

This is the best shop in East London for Indian sweets, and they serve the most authentic north Indian street food like cholle bhature, chaat etc. and one of the best Punjabi saag is available here. Recently they started thali as well, but the best dish has to be Bharta and close second is bharwa karele. Caution, since they are best, they get busy on festivals, so plan accordingly specially in these Covid times when only 2 persons at time are allowed

Went into this place as I do 2/3 times a year when it’s Diwali, Rakhi or New Years to buy Mithai (Indian Sweets). On this occasion it was Rakhi which is a busier than normal day. The Owner with the beard had one slow person working alongside him. I waited outside nearly 20 minutes and there was only 2 people in-front of me in the queue. It got to the point both of them were ignoring the customers outside to serve Uber or deliveroo drivers. I said to the owner your to slow and you should prioritise people waiting outside on the street in 36 degrees heat, he didn’t care and carried on with serving the deliveroo driver. His excuse was that only 2 people were allowed behind the counter. But 2/3 Uber drivers are allowed in the shop at the same time without masks, that makes sense! In the past I allowed writing a bad review for this place as their sweets are the best in the area even after I got served Pakoras drowned in salt. I called and highlighted this to the owner he said he will refund me on my next visit, this didn’t happen. But this time with the bad slow service then stinking attitude from the owner count yourself I can’t rate you lower than 1!

This place has only a small area to sit in max 10 persons. They primarily do sweets and takeaway. I had two parathas one Mooli and the potatoes, with yoghurt and pickles. Both were very good and bulky, just as you want them. Say 4, service I’m afraid was only 2 as sit in is only a side thing and not a priority.

When you need a little break whilst shopping in Ilford Lane, pop into Durga’s for some aloo tiki chat or a mulli prohnta & Channa batura. Really delicious & good portions to share with a friend . Basic tables & chairs for short visits , a canteen feel. I remember going to lots of weddings where Durga were the caterers. Definitely a loved establishment by the local community. We couldn’t stop ourselves from buying Indian sweets , muthi’s & shakapara for tea time at home. (Maybe don’t venture upstairs to use the toilet 😉 )

Very tasty chhole bhature, amritsari paratha and paneer paratha. Lassi was thick and creamy and not too sweet. Masala chai was okay, could've had some ginger to make it amazing. Felt that kachori, samosa and nankhataee were a little under-baked. We were lucky to get a seat upon arrival. Short waiting time after ordering. Food arrived hot and aromatic. Bhature were not oily. Parathe had the correct amount of butter. Quantity of chhole was perfect. Loved my brunch and will return for sure!

Best Amritsari Kulche and Cholley i ate in London so far period. That said, one or two other mithai we ordered were not nice, with a super strong smell of milk and sick sweet.

I had seen Durga for years and finally took the opportunity to go there. The mithai is very good, even though it's not exactly to my taste but their Ladoos and milk cake are exceptional. All the food here is vegetarian. I would recommend ordering some of the pakorey (fried dumplings) and aloo tikki (potato cutlets). On the weekends they also serve Amritsari kulchey which go perfectly with a cold Lassi. However these go quickly so call before you arrive to avoid disappointment. The staff are very friendly and the place does have a welcoming atmosphere. If I need excellent savoury treats Durga is one of the places I always try to go.

We had a trip to a couple of temples in Ilford and popped to Ilford Lane to get some fruit and for lunch. We always go to Durga. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is good. There's a steady flow of customers which is a good sign and the food is always tasty! And the staff will be happy to take their time and help you choose from the large variety of savoury and sweets.

Bad food. The chips was covered with so much oil and the chicken wasn’t even cooked properly. I complained and they delivered new chips and they were also in the same condition. Avoid eating from here
