The Dunvegan Bar is a small restaurant/bar on Broad Street Cowdenbeath. Its run by husband & wife team, the husband is the chef and his wife does the waitressing and helps in the bar. Its very friendly and welcoming. The food is always made fresh on order. I love the Haggis pillows for starters, followed by Chicken & haggis Pie with chips & veggies and I always manage to make room for desserts. Its well worth a visit, call and book a table, give it a try.

Could not get any better. Fun vibe and great service. Lots of people who just got off Old Course. Great atmosphere. More fun than the Jigger Inn but not on the course. Great drinks and real fun.

We booked the restaurant on a google search but we were very lucky to have found it. The service was first class and all of the food was delicious. We were recommended the chicken and haggis pie and it was delicious. The Chef came out to speak to us so we could thank him for the food and he shared a recipe with us. We can't recommend this place enough if you like good home-cooked food

Went with some of my fellow volunteers for a Christmas night out. It was my first visit. It’s a local pub and we had a room to ourselves, which was nicely decorated, warm and comfortable. It’s not a fancy place but the food was good, well cooked and well presented. There was nearly 30 of us and everyone said they enjoyed their meal. Staff are friendly and efficient.

This was my first time here with family for a birthday lunch. The staff were very friendly and it was busy, to the point people were being turned away. I wouldn't rush back however. The food was ok, I feel I could have thrown together what we had. The portion size were on the small size also. It was very cafe like standards of food in my eyes.

Went for lunch. I was surprised. The service was excellent, very welcoming. Lovely atmosphere and then the food. Great choices and quality for great prices. Puddings to die for. As a smoker went outside to a fabulous courtyard which could easily accommodate some local bands with plenty of room for punters. I used to live in this village so certainly never expected this. Thank you so much, I will definatly be back. Would highly recommend. Don't be put off by this small village, it's really worth the visit even if it's just for the food, service and atmosphere.

After a busy day we decided to go out for a few drinks, and figured we may as well eat out whilst we were at it.We went into the bar, ordered drinks and perused the menu. We placed our orders and when the food was ready the landlady, June, took our drinks through to the restaurant for us and away we went to eat.Yet again, very, very good food, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented on quality flatware. I had the Balmoral Chicken with the lovely whisky sauce, and my wife a delicious omelette with potatoes and salad.Less than £20 for two meals, we returned to the bar well fed and content.

Visited today (16th July) while on a trip to the football to see my team Inverness Caley play Cowdenbeath. Two of us arrived ahead of the others but we were greeted in a pleasant manner and told we could continue to sit at the large table until the rest of our party arrived. When they did arrive we were offered more seats and the lady working made sure we had plenty of space. Two of our party including myself had food and I had the homemade lentil soup and the chocolate fudge cake, both delicious and if I am ever back in Cowdenbeath I would not hesitate to return here. Even though we were in football tops and supporting the away team, we were made very welcome, something that does not always happen.

Came down on a Sunday afternoon in November for a meal. Once again this place surprises you with the level of service and the superb quality of the food. I had the Balmoral Chicken and the whisky cream sauce that accompanies it is divine. My wife had the lasagne, and as an excellent cook of lasagne herself she can be hard to please, but certainly not here. Good portion size as well as beautiful presentation rounds off the meal.An unassuming pub on the edge of Cowdenbeath's High Street, the restaurant is separate from the bar, nicely finished and cosy. The owners of the place are very friendly and accommodating. At around £10 for a main course it is very good value too. A little hidden jewel in Fife.

Popped in a couple of days after Christmas for a quick lunch. We had the ham and chicken salad which at £5.95 is fantastic value for money. A bowl of chips between us for £2 and we had a substantial lunch for two for only £14. The chicken wasn't processed cold meat like you normally get elsewhere, it was a grilled whole chicken breast cooked and sliced. The ham wasn't processed either, it was carved off the bone. Add to that some grated cheese, coleslaw and a good amount of fresh salad and we were both very pleased. The presentation is excellent, the service friendly and prompt. The menu is varied, fresh and offers a wide range of choices as well as plenty of daily specials and lighter options. The restaurant is attached to the side of a small local pub and is accessed through its own door just inside the main door so it is independent of the bar itself. This hidden little gem is well worth a visit any time that you are in the area.

Have visited the bar itself many times for drinks, and the odd burger/breakfast (Can't think of dates, so can't review). This time we decided to order a meal in the restaurant side, when the meal came (I had steak pie, my dad fish and chips) the meal was served promptly, and fresh - all presented nicely, and not just thrown on the plate. The bar owners were as always, friendly and treat us like local, even though we only pop up a couple of times a year. Prices are really reasonable, considering the service and quality of food received. Will probably order food in the restaurant next time we're up visiting, well worth the money

My husband and I were visiting family in Cowdenbeath and visited the Dunvegan Bar for something to eat. The menu had a good variety of meals at a good price. The staff were cheery and helpful. The food was tasty, my husband really enjoyed the steak pie and the mushroom stroganoff was delicious, the other members of our party also had the steak pie and they loved it as well. The dessert menu also had a good variety of goodies to choose from, my husband had the sticky toffee pudding and he said it was to die for, the rhubarb tart was tasty and the banoffee pie is also highly recommended. I would definately go back to the Dunvegan if I was in the area again.

Arriving at Cowdenbeath for the F1 Stock Car Racing went for a jar or two as you do, pleasently surprised to see the change this bar has gone through since my last visit in 2009 the owner/landlord extended rear patio drinking area, refurbishment of the toilets, unfortunately time did not allow me to eat there but member of the group did and where impress. Thanks for the warm welcome I received and wish the proprietors Ewan and June every success for the future.

I visited the Dunvegan for a bar supper last night and I was most impressed with the excellent food and exemplary customer service. There was a variety of meals on the menu at a reasonable price. I loved it and I will be back!!

I went here for an evening meal with some friends and on arrival found the staff to be cheery and welcoming. The restaurant area was clean and although it wasn't cold inside it didn't have a nice cosy feel to it, perhaps due to the fact that we were the only ones in.Our orders were taken promptly and when it arrived looked lovely and was nice and hot. However although the food was nice it wasn't anything special. Prices were reasonable and if I was ever in the area again I would consider another visit. I wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion but it's certainly value for money and worth a visit if you are in the area

Out for a Sunday lunch with the wife and mother-in-law and decided on the Dunvegan. This is a local pub but the restaurant section - The Pine Diner - is separate from the bar, and the landlady June very considerately asked if we wanted the small door behind the bar closed to keep the noise down. There is a choice of menu, the main one and a light bites option featuring baked potatoes, sandwiches, toasties etc.The soup of the day was lentil, so my wife had that, I had the haggis pillows and whisky cream sauce, and the m-in-l had the potato skins. All were served very promptly, piping hot and beautifully presented with salad garnish on a lovely traingular dinner service. My wife thought the soup was absolutely superb, and the whisky cream sauce on my dish was fantastic. For mains the wife had macaroni cheese, the m-in-l steak pie and I had the special fish, a jumbo beer battered monster!Again, prompt service, piping hot delicious food, excellent presentation and wonderful warm and friendly service. This place is a little gem tucked away next to a very 'local' pub. Turn left as you go in the main door, instead of right and you'll be safe from the locals! The food is cheap, very well prepared and presented and is a step above your usual pub 'fayre', although there are plenty of options for burgers etc if that's what you're looking for.One not to miss.

This is a small local pub with a bijou sized restaurant attached to it. It is run and managed by a very friendly and professional couple who have worked very hard to continually improve it. We chose to eat here on Christmas day knowing that the landlord is a chef, and we booked and paid in advance. We were aware that on the day there were more than 70 meals scheduled and that it was going to be a tough day for the chef but we had met him and were confident that he would deliver. We had booked for 3pm and we were shown to our table absolutely bang on time. We had ordered in advance so our starters were at the table almost immediately. This prompt and efficient service was consistent throughout the rest of the meal. The food was delicious, home-cooked, piping hot and beautifully presented. This was even more impressive when taken into consideration with the number of people being served. The entire family was assisting - along with staff - and all were maintaining the same high and friendly standards. After finishing our meals we retired to the bar where we enjoyed a couple of drinks before leaving. This restaurant is a little jewel hidden away in an innocuous little Fife town. Highly recommended.
