Beautiful food, brilliant service. Shout out to Nikki our waitress she was amazing! Couldn’t do enough for our table….

Ordered 5 dishes.Had to ask for the rice & Curry sauce, it came 10 minutes later. The Beef oyster had to be sent back twice due to it being cold.  At the end I asked for the chow mein to be boxed and they charged us 30p for the tub.  Fuming

Used to be fabulous, not so now unfortunately. The food is average but prices are high. It was never cheap to eat at the DBA but was worth it for the quality of the food. They have a habit of leaving a gap between serving the table which can be irritating as food/plates get cold. There are now no place mats (& with glass topped tables means your dish can slide about) nor hot plates, which means side dishes can cool. I don't think we'll be going back which is a shame because it was a favourite for many years.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this review but write it I must. I had recently landed after a 4.5 hour flight and live in Lutterworth. We decided to have a takeaway from the DBA so I drove to make my order. When we started to eat it we were both pretty speechless as to just how bad this meal was. We had different curries. The curry sauce had inexplicably turned to a water like consistency. In fact it had to be tasted with a spoon. The egg fried rice virtually had no egg in it. The chicken, beef and king prawns were very poor indeed. For whatever reason there was no depth of flavour. It was as bland as could be. Whilst I do not eat Chinese food regularly this was as bland as it gets. This resulted in virtually all of it being put into the bin. I did not intend driving back to the restaurant to express our huge disappointment. The spring roll was in fact 3 small rolls pretty much devoid of filling. Chips were just ok. I had “bigged up” the DBA to my wife after having used it when I lived in Broughton. However after this my wife said “never again”. The egg that should have been in my rice was now very much “on my face”. This was a huge disappointment as it was meant to be special hence not using a Chinese near home. That said the waiting staff in the restaurant and the pub bar were very friendly. I have marked this experience as “poor” but frankly that is generous. I’m still trying to work out why it all went so wrong.

Ordered our food. Turns out we couldn’t have any starters because the fryer had been contaminated with nuts. We were then restricted on what we could have for mains. You would have thought they would have a separate fryer for people who have allergies. Overall the food was nice. The staff were friendly and helped us in our situation.

Simply the best Chinese, lovely staff, far superior to any other..recommend: chicken satay skewers, king prawn in hosin sauce, sizzling beef in blackbean, honey and lemon chicken, but don't go if you don't want to because we want to be able to get a table every other week!

Food nice as always, and the welcome remains friendly. But, my God, if you visit here in winter make sure you wrap up warm if you’re planning to sit in the bar. Unless you’re within a few feet of the open fire the only sources of heat are the lightbulbs. As I type, I have on a T-shirt, jumper, winter coat and gloves. It is bitterly cold. And I don’t normally feel the cold. Unbelievable in the 21st century that a pub can allow their customers to sit and shiver like this.

The mixed seafood main course was to say the least was bland contained 1 prawn and was tasteless £19 not the cheapest Did not offer any reduction Restaurant virtually empty. Very expensive. Will vote with feet great shame as used to be quality at a reasonable price!

Literally THE worst take away we’ve EVER had. None of us could finish because we were all feeling I’ll.

Popped in on the off chance one Friday night, no chance, it was rammed so to avoid disappointment we booked, it must be good if it was that busy, sadly no. Went for the sharing platter, really disappointing, everything was deep fat fried, the curry parcels were absent of any filling, the prawn toasts were passable, had to ask for cutlery and soy sauce, that should be on the table. Went for 3 mains, chicken and black bean, chicken koon poo and satay beef, egg fried rice and a portion of salt and chili chips. All were ok, just ok, nothing really amazing, blind fold you probably would think they were the same. Drinks from the pub were ok, might be a bit more tricky if it was really busy. Food was at least hot, temperature hot and good size portions. My main issue is the bill, paying by card it comes with a screen shown various amounts of tips, an £80 bill had a selection with one of them being 'Fair £12.00' that's 15%, for bringing the food and clearing some plates, i obviously hit the £0 button. I seem to remember last time i went which was years ago being asked 'how much would i like to tip' errrr nothing mate. I'm not tight but to get any sort of 'tip' you have to try a little bit harder not just do a job. Won't be rushing back.

CHINESE food was amaze! i would really recommend it me and family and friends went on saturday night. The down fall was the dark haired bar maid who was rude and looked like she belonged in a strip club with pvc hot pants and a crop top not helpful and very rude the night was only saved by the kind and polite lady’s behind the bar both with blonde hair who treated us with respect and kindness even checked we was ok so thank you to the lady’s who have saved this place and a massive complaint !!

Went on Friday for a takeaway for 4 people we add a drink while waiting we found our takeaway meal to be very nice lots of taste in all dishes staff very friendly everywhere the pub as a restaurant tooand that was extremely busy so I don’t have to say anymore definitely recommend

We have not visited since lockdown following some mixed reviews. We thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. We chose the set meal for two; it was very tasty with good sized portions. The service was quick and pleasant. We will definitely be returning.

Six of us went for a meal and all of us really enjoyed the food great friendly staff. Service was very good busy for mid week. 👌

I had previously visited this restaurant for a family birthday back in May 2022 and enjoyed the food and service from a great young woman and an older lady. Having enjoyed it so much we returned (July 2020) for another family birthday meal was served by an another older lady who was very rude and abrupt. She gave the impression she did not want us there from the outset. She took our order and insisted we order our mains at the same time (previously this was not a problem ordering it later). After taking our order she proceeded to put plates and cutlery on the table in a rough manner dropping rather than placing it on the table. Even requesting some hot water and a bowl for some baby food seemed to be a clear inconvenience. The server’s attitude put a real dampener on our gathering as all members of the family could sense this. Credit where credit is due, the food was good and the drinks service from the young woman from the bar was great and the other server was brilliant too. It is a real shame as this experience (down to one person) will mean I will never return nor recommend it to anyone else. Dining out is meant to be a enjoyable experience especially at the prices they charge for the food.

Me and a group of my work mates visited last night, friendly staff, nice little beer garden and excellent food. We were all excited and intrigued to try this place. Everyone was very pleased with the quick service and the quality freshly cooked food. Definitely be back again.

I came here tonight for a chinese and it was lovely! The staff were friendly and the pub itself had a nice atmosphere! I would recommend this place and I'll definitely be back again.

We haven’t eaten here since pre pandemic and we’re looking forward to a lovely meal on the basis of our previous experiences. We’ve been visiting here for years as our favourite ‘ local’ Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately we left feeling really disappointed tonight. Not sure if they’ve changed chef or are just cutting corners but the food was no where near as good as it used to be. The sweet and sour dip with the starters was watery and tasteless with few prawns on the prawn toast. The Szechwan sauce was not at all spicy and had little flavour but the worst dish was the sizzling beef Cantonese style, the beef was grisly chewy and inedible and the sauce completely lacking in flavour. At no time we’re we asked how the food was not even when they took away the beef dish less than half eaten with discarded chewed beef on the plates. Looks like we’ll be searching for a new Chinese restaurant.

Was very disappointed service being not very good. waited far to long for drinks, food was served in stages although it was ordered together hence parts of main main meal was cold when eating began, no one came to ask if everything was ok until nearly finished, when told food was cold they laughed and walked off.

Food was lovely and arrived quickly, but its very hard to eat your food when you don't have a drink to go with it. We asked 7 times if we could order drinks but no-one took our order. We went to the bar, to be told to sit back at our table and somebody would come over to us. Stil nothing. So we didn't even eat all the food as we didn't have a drink and we were too thirsty.

Called in for a couple of beers and a takeaway service was very nice a good atmosphere in the pub considering the Covid reinforcement rules .the take was ok nothing special but we still enjoyed it

Making the most of the end of lockdown, had a nice meal here, very good choice on the menu, very fast service and smiley attentive staff - would visit again.

Arrived on time and were seen to on time seated and attended to without fault The food arrived very quick and was presented very well , The food itself was very good , in fact the best chinese ive had in a long time , staff were very good ,no rush and were available for any questions or requests you had .So to sum up its great a decent meal well cooked and in a nice place all for a fair price . give it a try !!.

Absolutely terrible experience! Went in for dinner with my partner, despite warnings from friends about the management, to find their stories were correct!Customers doing drugs in the toilet with no reprimand from staff! Went to use the loos to find white powder all over the backs of them! Who I presume was the manageress, an older lady, was smashed and unintelligible. Swearing loudly at the top of her voice. Food was sub par, and not worth the ridiculous expense and neither was the flat beer! At £4.60 a pint we would have thought it would be better! Not going back again.

Recommended by friends, we ventured here to try a different Chinese. The food was excellent, with a large variety on offer.Polite inconspicuous serving, leaving us to enjoy. So much so that we were back for another helping!!!Added to regular list. Keep it up guys!

Haven't been here for years but decided at last minute to book somewhere for xmas eve. Pub was really busy when we arrived (a good sign as you hear of so many stuggling). The food didn't disappoint either. Considering it was Xmas eve and very busy the restaurant was relaxed. If you are looking for a Chinese meal but want more than a take away then so would highly recommend DBA.

We had a lovely Chinese meal for 3 & apart from the chicken dish, which seemed more like a stroganoff than a Chinese dish, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.Fortunately there was plenty to eat, & guess what we left half of?!Nonetheless we will certainly be returning, just avoiding that particular dish!Thoroughly enjoyed the other dishes.Good service, reasonably priced, enjoyable food in a small restaurant in a pub with great ambience.

I found this place through work, and I try and get as near as possible when in the area.The staff, make you at home straight away. And always willing to offer help or advise on where you should visit. Whatever floats your boat, there is something near by for you to enjoy.Checking in is through the main bar, enjoy a tipple while going through process. in the same area you'll find the Chinese restaurant. Ask when checking the opening times. I do recommend them. The actual accommodation is next door, at No7. A key is given once checked in. A key for the front door and room door. I was allocated room 5, up the stairs and left at the end of the corridor. Noted on a table were extra condiments, if needed. Good idea!Room 5, has a king size bed, has to be for my bulk! Couldn't fault the room at all. Clean and crisp sheets on the bed. Work table, rather small but adaptable. The TV was on the wall, opposite the bed, offered Freeview TV, so I was happy. A wardrobe in the corner if needed. There is free Wi-Fi in the room. Also in the room is a kettle for a morning brew.The view out of the window isn't one the seven wonders of the world but could be worse!The Bathroom was a shower only, the way I like it. A small offering of shower gels are offered. The towels were clean and fresh.I ate and drank in the bar the night I stayed. The Timothy Taylors is one of the best pints have enjoyed outside of Yorkshire! A 10/10 for that! As for food, there is a Chinese, which does a small English option. Check when checking in.Breakfast? For me was a full English was ordered and I wasn't disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed it. If you need special diets or have allergies then let them know before hand. When booking or checking in. The breakfast is offered down stairs in a back kitchen with all the trimmings and is cooked to order, thank you!I arrived by car, car park at the rear and is free! Check on line for buses or taxis to get here.If you require special needs or access then phone before booking. As steps are required for rooms. Look forward to my next stay or feed.

Visited August Bank holiday Saturday. We had booked for 8.00 pm. Our table wasn’t vacant until about 8.45 (it seems they have sittings and our table wasn’t vacated yet). That was fine and we had the half crispy duck between 4. Then a dish each and rice. It was all delicious. I would recommend this pub to anyone.

As newcomers to the area we want to try out new places and we were told about this little gem.We visited just to check it out and we liked it a lot. The bar is quite small but has a really friendly feel to it. The staff and customers were pleasant and we felt welcome.There was a lovely garden area at the back and the sound on mooing cows behind the trees surrounding it.We didn’t try the Chinese food, which can be eat in or take away, but we will be going back to give it a go.

I used to eat here years ago, it was good then and it’s still as good now. The staff were lovely, the food delicious. Would highly recommend.

I went to the DBA last night as I was recommended it by someone at work. I had a quick google and searched on Facebook but couldn’t find much info about it so I thought I’d share some of the dishes I had. The food was amazing I will be going back again 100% best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time

I love the food here, staff are very helpful and willing to answer questions. However, I’ve repeatedly found bits of meat in my vegetarian food, only little pieces but still meat - maybe they could improve the way the chefs are keeping the meat and vegetarian food seperate

I have to say I’m becoming more and more fussy with Chinese since trying elsewhere and I keep coming back to the DBA and the Chinese in Cosby! Have sat in the restaurant and ordered as a take away, both as good as each other. Service was fast given how busy it was. My only complaint would be the crispy chilli beef, had a bit of a weird after taste and was TOO crispy (I know an odd complaint but felt as though I was eating crisps) but the rest was perfect! Will 100% visit again!

We decided to go to the DBA for tea on Thursday as a remedy to Christmas induced jaded palette . This was not our first visit to this typical village pub with a difference; the difference being the excellent Chinese food served. We are well blessed with Chinese food in South Leicester and this is certainly up there with the best. We ordered a meal for four , which included a generous serving of starters , four main courses, vegetables and fried rice. The selection was excellent and the waiter willingly changed a dish owing to personal taste. As usual we had a very tasty meal , deliciously washed down with a couple of pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord. It gets busy so you need to book.

The restaurant is set at the back of the pub and always seems to be quite busy, went on a Friday night for a birthday celebration.

My family and I have been here many times over the years although we haven't visited for over a year - that was until Saturday night for my Mum's birthday.

another great night at the DBA. We all went for a C4 and what a superb choice it was. Lovely pint of Timothy Taylors or 2. Brilliant nosh,super service, hardworking staff all round.

Just returned from a family get together meal. First time we have been here and it won’t be the last time. Food was brilliant all fresh veg used in the dishes not greasy as some Chinese takeaways can be. The service was fab too. Offered lots of drinks, plates cleared away quickly and food was served in less than 15 mins after we places our order. Staff very friendly and the place it self is really lovely.

A party of six of us visited this venue for evening dinner. We enjoyed a nice chinese meal which was served hot and the food was good and tasty. The service was good, perhaps too good at times as staff several times asked our party if we wanted more drinks before we were even halfway down those already served, so the service was prompt.. Unfortunately our party of six was crammed into a small alcove table which was a little uncomfortable but the other tables for two and four looked much better. Probably a venue to visit as a couple. Parking can be a problem as the car park can get full quickly but we found parking outside on the road nearby. The food and choice of beers and wines are good and reasonable value. A venue we will visit again, though probably in a smaller group.

Popped here on a Wednesday night. It’s really nice in the modern age of buffet menus to get the chance to sit down for a Chinese meal. Great country pub, with good beers and it houses a Chinese restaurant too. A good menu and excellent wine list, we had the hot and spicy set menu and it was great, plenty of food and tasted great, will go back for sure

NOT THE USUAL FROZEN CHICKEN Chinese, great service great food and great beer. parking can be a problem but try the street, ( don't block residents driveways though ) very cosy well worth the travel

The best Chinese food I’ve ever had! We had one of the set menus and was a really lovely selection. The only issue was that our table wasn’t ready for quite a while....the former diners just weren’t leaving so it was beyond the waitresses control. A must visit!

Yes a big wow, Chinese Cuisine and so much to choose from, a very extensive menu. We settled for A3 for 3 people @ £15.00 per head. Spring Rolls, Satay skewers, fried sesame bread and a vegetable filled "triangle" (don't know what it's real title is). Mains was Sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style, beef and mushrooms in black bean sauce, another chicken dish and a further vegetable dish plus a huge bowl of fried rice and prawn crackers

Can see a lot of people liking this place and its low price, but if you want to experience a very good Chinese restaurant this doesn't quite do it for me. The service is fast, friendly and well presented. The quality of the food was mixed Crispy Duck and Spring Rolls were very good but the ribs were covered excessively in hard thick batter which were below par. The shredded beef didn't appear to contain any beef it rather tasted like burnt shredded beef fat. Not sure if this dish was recooked or if their supplier of product has let them down. Finally being linked to a pub the selection of drinks is very good but they don't sell any Chinese beer!

Unfortunately the whole evening was spoilt by the noise levels on nearby tables. What was meant to be a quiet family meal turned into a really difficult time because you could not hear what was being said from the other side of the table. We even had to keep asking the waiters to speak up!!

La habitación era grande, luminosa y limpia con un montón de algunos extras, té, café, chocolate y bollos mini kit - gatos. Fue una buena relación calidad-precio. Mi única crítica sería la habitación era luminosa temprano en la mañana, a pesar de que el ciego fue bajando, sería mejor si había cortinas. El desayuno era delicioso. Elegimos nuestro pedido la noche anterior y estaba preparada para nosotros en la mañana. Los ingredientes estaban frescos y agradables. La señora a cargo era encantadora y nada era demasiado problema, realmente quería hacer todo lo necesario para hacer de su estancia lo mejor posible.

Nice place to eat. Decent Chinese served quickly. The only thing I'll say lets it down is the drinks. The bar and the restaurant are done separately, sometimes it's difficult to get the attention of the person serving drinks as the waitresses don't do them.

Recomiendo totalmente este chino. Está situado en la parte trasera del pub, pero no te desanimes. El restaurante es independiente y atendido por gente encantadora china. La comida es simplemente el mejor que he probado. Reserve temprano ya que las mesas son limitadas y es muy popular.

Our second visit , took the family as we liked it before, the food is great and not bad value for money, same as last time it feels like they can't wait to get you out quick enough , we had to slow them down or I think we would have been done in 25 minutes ,quite a lot of bad language with what I assume were the local boys at the bar, not an issue for me but older or younger generation don't need To be hearing it( although the front half is a pub, overall the food was good but you need to take control or you won't be in long!!!

Took my family for a Chinese for the first time instead of a takeaway and had heard good things about the DBA and travelled 20 miles round trip to be there.It was absolutely worth it! The Beer is kept very well. The service and staff were perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious couldn’t fault it.My 6 year old and Fiancée had a great time. We would recommend it to anyone and will defiantly be going back in the future.Thank you DBA for a Great Night.

Get together with friends over a few drinks and a Chinese meal. Food good, staff very friendly and helpful. They even left us to keep the table for another hour after we had finished eating. And the bonus for me was Real ale available, not a raft of lagers. 6 people, starters, mains and drinks for £100. Top Dollar.

We ate here last Friday, and what an enjoyable, tasty meal it was.The staff were friendly and efficient, the food arrived quickly and was tasty.One minor criticism, because it is part of a local pub, it was very noisy( the youngsters don't seem to be able to communicate without shouting!!)and because Annie has a hearing disorder, it was a bit uncomfortable for her.Maybe consider adding a quiet area?But mostly very enjoyable

Very busy popular pub/indian restaurant. One of the first that converted and still at the top of the list for original food and cuisine. Not always necessary to book as they do their best to accommodate you but it is safer if you do not wan to be hanging around as they do have times sittings.

Lovely options. Cantonese food with a modern European twist.Lots of flavours and home made recipes & sauces & signature dishes that cannot be found elsewhere.Very tasty and good for take away too!

Called on on the way back from somewhere else for a nightcap.Have been here lots of times for Chinese and drinks.The Chinese users way to much MSG hence the reason everyone says they leave thirsty but as a pub the booze is good the atmosphere friendly and what you'd expect/hour for from a village pub.

Wasn't sure what to expect. We were trading in the area and fancied Chinese. To be fair I found the prices a little expensive however there was an endless supply of chinese crackers and the curry and rice dishes were faultless and left us full up. When in the area I will use again.

Had a takeaway this evening, which was really poor. Sack the person operating the microwave I say! I usually have a sweet and sour chicken from here and end up with really chewy chicken bits I can't swallow but a great flavour and side dishes. Tried the sweet and sour pork tonight - awful, really hard and really overcooked in the microwave. Prawn crackers soggy too.

Pub side is great. Good staff and very friendly always smiley which is what you need with a pint. Chinese side always good take out and good to sit in too. No loud music either so you can hear what your friends are saying. Always really tasty. Good night out

All of the food we ordered was so tasty,the best Chinese we have had in along time. Very attentive and friendly staff with quick service. A nice cosy pub at the front with an open fire. Will definitely go back.

Came here easter Bank holiday Monday for my mums birthday meal, 10 of us. Every single dish was so mouth wateringly beautiful. This is about the 6th time we've come as a family and have never once been disappointed. The house white is so easy to drink (we had 4 bottles). Will be returning soon.

Needed to find a place half way between Lichfield and Northampton. Searched for Chinese and found this pub serving Chinese....fabLocated in what looks to be a lovely village, it was dark. Good car parking.Inside was pleasantly done out.Resturant not huge so think at weekends you will definitely have to bookWe order a set menu for £17 each Crispy duck, schezan prawns, chicken with black pepper sauce, Chinese veg and ride with pork in. A waitress regularly came round checking on drinks. I accept on the food is on the more expensive side but it was worth it.The food was lovely and we definitely would visit again.My only complaint is that it was cold and I sat with my coat wrapped round my legs......turn the heating on and this is the only reason you got 4 stars and not 5

Had a Chinese takeaway from here and was very pleased with the service. Rang our order through and was told a time for collection. Parked the car at the back and picked the food up, after stopping for a quick drink. Once home the food was still hot and very tasty. Good value for money.

this is by far the best chinese restaurant/take away in the area - we always go here. the service is too quick which is the down side and the staff a little serious but the food is great

Cold looking room with no heating.curtains looked poorly fitted.entrance was dark and with the steep steps so i would've thought there would be suitable lighting there but there wasnt.bar staff far more friendly than the waitresses until it came to paying.food was average and not worth the money in my opinion.

We were fortunate enough to not only eat at the Dunton Bassett Arms but also to stay there last night. The food was excellent as was the service, we were certainly not rushed and had a very leisurely meal with some friends. The accommodation was first class, the room nice and warm, the bed comfortable with beautiful linen.The breakfast this morning was to die for and I would go so far as to say one of the best breakfasts we have had served to us.The lady who looked after us this morning was delightful.We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this rather unusual but beautiful restaurant & B&B and look forward to the next opportunity that we have in revisiting.

Popped in Sunday night for a quick Chinese, front bar was busy but the restaurant was empty. Had 3 dishes and a rice all ok, very heavy with the salt though. The place was cold, no heating at all, probably waiting to see if more people turned up. The bill came to £28.50 and the waitress asked if we were leaving a tip!!!! Thought this was very cheeky. Would go back but I'm not raving about the place like some do!Would give it 2.5 stars.

The best Chinese food I have tasted to ďate. The service was èxcellent quick delivery of food with a smile. Don't go on speck as it is always busy, book in advance.

Good quality Chinese food you need to book a table Friday & Saturday the only down side is that the staff hurry the service I myself like to take my time but the food is good.

Had a wonderful meal here with friends on Saturday evening,The food was so lovely and fresh, piping hot and the service was great too.

We chose to eat here for my birthday meal as I love Chinese food. We had never been before. We ordered one of the set meals and a couple of extra bits to go with it. The food was fantastic, really hot and fresh. Most importantly it wasn't greasy at all. The staff were very friendly and the bill was very reasonable. The restaurant is small so I imagine even at busy weekends the service would still be fast. I would definitely recommend (:

Over night stop in extremely nice accommodation for the money. It had the added bonus of a good selection of hand pump beers and if you like Timothy Taylors, the Landlord keeps it really well!!!! Excellent breakfast which defeated us all - well done Kirsty. We used the in house Chinese Restaurant which again was excellent. If we need to visit this area again we will certainly use the DBA again.

Cracking Chinese meal only let down but horribly noisy Birthday Party of lager louts the time I went. Really they were annoying all the other diners and the management should have told them to quieten down. I have marked them down on service for this failure.The food is excellent with good portions and the Timothy Taylor (champion Camra beer of 2014) just seals the deal.Well done wish it was my local.

We visit the DBA a couple of times a year. My brother and sister in law live not to far away so it's handy to pop in every now and then.The pub is nice and serves a good range of beers and wines. The open fire is always welcome during the winter months.The restaurant at the back of the pub is nicely laid out and can accommodate parties of different sizes. The only consistent criticisms I could give is I think they over use the MGA. It's not just me but everyone we've been with always comments on leaving most thirsty than they got there...

Myself and two others ordered the set menu off the DBA's online menu, which stated £31.50 for the three of us, when we ordered the lady told us to get there in 40 minutes time. We arrived as she requested and stood in the restaurant entrance for 15 minutes trying to get the attention of someone who was taking orders for take aways. Finally I caught the attention of one of the women and said that we were waiting for a take away collection, to which I got a blunt reply 'not ready'. There was no suggestion to how long and I wasn't able to ask how long it would be either as she walked off. The place is so poorly organised and ran, at least four other people were standing around waiting for their take aways, to be seated in the restaurant or to make a take away order. Once we finally got our food after waiting an extra 30 minutes on top of the original 40 minutes, the woman shoved the food into my hands and said to my partner '£36', to which I questioned as we had ordered off the online menu which stated £31.50, she snapped at me 'old menu!' and tried to give me a new paper menu. I argued that she should honour the price on their online menu as it is their fault they have not updated it and that it is miss-selling goods to customers, which is against trading standards. She ignored me and continued to shout at my partner '£36!' over and over again. My partner paid the money but we were both very unhappy on the service and treatment made by the DBA restaurant staff. In future I will go else where for my chinese.

The Dunton Bassett Arms is a country pub, with a Chinese Restaurant at the back. A pub of character, friendly local customers and good Chinese restaurant to boot. You definitely need to book a table on Friday and Saturday. We haven't had a bad meal here. Love it and will keep going back.

First visit was a weekend first sitting, second visit mid week. Latter was a much better dining experience. Food quality and presentation was great both times, but service last night was an order of magnitude better, even though the restaurant was full at one point in the evening.Bar service good, quick and professional, but the second glass of wine tasted different from the first? We chose one of the fixed menu's for two, and were allowed to switch one of the courses - we couldn't eat all of the food offered.Can recommend

This was our third visit to the restaurant. First two times were OK but this time was disgusting. The food was so bland, no taste, no condiments, the veg was literally just boiled, same as the rice and really clumpy. When we complained, they said well we will take £5 off your bill.

We have visited the DBA many times over the last few years and have always found the food to be excellent. The Hot & Sour soup is to die for. The pub is a lovely traditional pub and the restaurant is a nice place to eat. Our only complaint is that the last time that we went as a group of about 8, we had just finished our main course and a lady just arrived with the bill (which we had not asked for) and slammed it unceremoniously down on the table. No offer of desert or coffees. She was an older lady who was quite rude and when we queried why we had been given the bill she just responded 'we need your table'. Now we had booked well in advance, and we had to wait quite a while for our food as it was busy, so I feel the restaurant should allow for this, & we were treated very badly. You are probably wondering why I gave it a 'very good' rating. Well the food IS very good, and this was the first time that we had a problem but I must say that we have been reluctant to return. I would say if you pick a quiet time, you will be fine and you will have a very good meal. We just felt that we deserved better treatment. You decide.

Right from the minute we walked in to ask for a room available the young lady that seemed to be everything from barmaid to receptionist and everything else required was brilliant.The Chinese which we would never choose was great,the bar cosy and welcoming but the best bit our room was excellent! If you read this please consider this place it may be off the grid but you will enjoy.

Chinese is my favourite and its hard to find a good one. Been here plenty of times and always lives up to the last time. Still the best to date and worth driving that little bit extra for.

3 of us visited on a Saturday Evening...we had booked so sat straight down although a lot of people waiting for table/take-aways...so recommend booking at a week-end...Ribs were sent back to the kitchen as cold...rest of the food was very tasty and hot...Service was brusque and not particularly attentive...Would I return? Wouldn't rush back if honest - although the restaurant does seem to attract a lot of locals whom it is obviously convenient for...
