Perfect evening as alway in Balti Spice never fails to disappoint, food delicious freshly cooked & get to have new dishes recommended to us for a change.

The food is always so tasty, massive portions and friendly service. Wouldn't go anywhere else. I've eaten curry all around the world and this is definitely the best :-)

Meeting good friends that we haven’t seen for a while who were staying at stansted to fly home the next day, so met them at Balti Spice for a farewell meal. Restaurant was a bit empty on arrival but didn’t pay too much notice, was quite rushed with our order but again was happy to be there and happily chatting to friends, food came up very quickly and unfortunately I’ve got to say was the terrible I thought it was just me but we all felt the same, didn’t make a fuss had another drink and again was rudely handed the bill which wasn’t requested, staff started putting on there coats to go home this was only 9.45pm so took hint and asked if they could call us a taxi to which they said we don’t have any taxi numbers…..so stood outside and had to wait and arrange taxi else were, not a good experience will never visit again 😔😔

Great menu with great choice of dishes. We ate with friends in December '22 and for a birthday in January '23 and it was great each time. Would totally recommend.

We regularly order a takeaway from Balti Spice and the food and service are always great. Unfortunately on this occasion a few items were left out by mistake , i called the restaurant to tell them and within 10 minutes the driver was at our door with the missing items! Seriously impressive service considering it was a busy Saturday night. If only more restaurants and takeaways operated like this. The best Indian in Dunmow!

Great! Had a lovely meal for my nans birthday. All of the food was perfect, the service from Afzal and the team was great and had a very enjoyable evening!

We went for a family meal recently having had many takeaway meals which were very nice, there were six of us very prompt sitting us down and attending to our drinks order, first the popadoms which were tasty fresh and crispy with a good selection of dips, then A royal mixed shaslick, chicken jalfrezi , lamb Bhuna, chicken shaslick, which were absolutely delicious, the staff were very attentive, and we were attended by Afzal, who was very informative, and polite, and humourous , the restaurant was very clean, and the bill was in fairness very reasonable 👍🙂 enjoyed by all will return very soon.

The waiter, Afzal, recommended our meals to us: a bhuna chicken and a chicken curry. The service was excellent, both in terms of time and amicability.

This restaurant has really upped its game!! The new menu is really good and everything tastes amazing!

We have been using this restaurant since it opened (can't remember what year) both as a couple and with larger groups (up to 12) and this is quite simply the best Indian restaurant for miles. The menu is wide and varied with with the food consistently of a very high standard with both the quality of ingredients (meats, fish, vegetables, pulses, rice and breads) plus the spice levels available being spot on. When I ask for a madras, they cook a madras (unlike other local restaurants). The cleanliness is very high and the service polite, attentive and friendly with special mention to Shumon and Aezal - two top guys with ready smiles and time for a chat. I can't see why you would go to any other Indian restaurant in the area. The Balti Spice is highly recommended.

Pleasant enough environment, food nicely spiced, very good naan bread. However, being experienced rum enthusiasts we were more than convinced some watering down of the liquor had taken place in this establishment. Staff fairly efficient but not particularly friendly or welcoming, in fact a tiny bit arrogant if being totally frank. Might try again at some point but we’ll be checking out a few alternatives first before returning. Bill seemed very reasonable though. Worth a visit.

We came to the Balti Spice on a spir of the moment celebration (Monday Evening). The service so attentive and our waiter was cracking le' jokes all night (in a funny but unimposing way). We sample alot of Indian cuisine but have to recommend the 'Royal Lamb'! What a Dish! If you want an intimate but entertaining night, go to this restaurant!!!

Hello, we visit this Indian restaurant often as we have always enjoyed the quality and variety of the food. The staff are attentive and hardworking and we can happily recommend this as the best Indian locally. My Hubbie is a huge curry fan and we have visited a LOT of the restaurants in the local area. We always return to Balti Spice as our favourite, cost wise this is very competitive but please don’t let this sway you, they are great! They do delivery and offer take away.

I live in London and can walk from my house to 4 different Indian Restaurants within 12 minutes. But if I fancy a curry I’d rather drive here and book a room in a local hotel. Consistently good, fantastic food and great service.

Located on the high street great family run restaurant. Lamb Buna with Garlic Naan always hits the spot ate in after a while and I must say iv missed it.

People have been recommending this place to me for a while now a nice family run business that takes care of their customers and food quality. Normally go down to Pride of Sylhet but I think they have declined in their food quality.

Iv had to make a account just to let you guys know how much I enjoyed this meal and I am as lazy as they come. Moved to the Woodlands Park area about a year now so I have tried all the local Indians. I came across Balti Spice a nice little cosy restaurant family based business nice couple of lads welcoming at the door and genuinely friendly people. They recommend me the Royal Biryani changed the side that is normally a veg side dish to a mixed Spinach and mush baji (and they didn't even charge me now its the norm). Howveer i been trying various dishes and one that hit my taste buds was the ROYAL LAMB and ROYAL LAMB NAGA sounds the same but wow big difference highly recommended fast service and piping hot food what more can you ask for.

Moved to the Dunmow are 6 months and have been using this little gem for takeaways. Fast service during the week can get busy during Fri Sat Sun as expected but worth the wait. The Salmon Supreme is a diamond dish and highly recommend it.

This was my first visit for several years as we tend to favour another Indian restaurant in town, however we could not get a walk in table there. Upon arrival we were shown to a good table and had good service from our waiter. The food was good and the service was as well. The only negative is the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant, there was no background music and the surroundings are quite plain.

I had a really bad meal from this Restaurant in the past, and the Manager would not refund my money. Only wanted to give me another meal. But this would have meant my family not eating at the same time. A friend said give them another chance. So i thought one more try. Rang and ordered food, when got there to pick it up, the manager ranted at me about leaving them a bad review and said unless i take it off he would not serve me, or give me the discount he promised. At this point i said i would not remove the review as people need to see true feedback. but i would if this meal was good leave a new review. I was again shouted at and told he would not serve me. So i left and will never use this restaurant again. If this restaurant thinks it can treat customers like this they don't deserve our custom. Steer clear of this Restaurant at all costs.

This Restaurant is now called Balti Spice. I have eaten from there 5 times now as it was recommended by a friend.

This is a small establishment but with a brilliant attitude. The quality of the food is second to none and the services that goes with it is exceptional and friendly.

So much food and so delicious we had to take some home. A birthday dinner with my family was absolutely lovely, with some specialty dishes I had never tried before. I recommend this great Indian Restaurant.

Visited family in the area. First time in Great Dunmow. Picked this one out... and what a choice. Fantastic food. I’ve been in a lot of restaurants (mainly London) and I can honestly say that this was one of the best Indian meals I have had in a very very long time. It was right up there with the best I’ve been in. Had a Chicken Dansak and it was beautiful. Wife loved hers also and also rest of the family. WE ALL LOVED IT. Top marks to the Chef. Very friendly service also. I don’t normally praise like this as it could have been a good night at the office, but I doubt it very much. Next time I’m back up visiting, I’ll be straight in there 100%. Cannot recommend this place enough - based on the meal I just had in there. Until next time

First time we have tried Balti Spice in Great Dunmow. It will not be the last. All aspects were above expectations. The restaurant was quiet as it was 5:30 on a Sunday evening. The inside was bright and clean, with a pleasing decor. The staff were friendly and attentive. When the food arrived it was the best presentation I have seen for an indian restaurant and the quality of the food matched the presentation. Overall an excellent experience

We usually flit between 2 Indian restaurants in Dunmow but find them a bit hit and miss so we tried Dunmow Spice. We ordered the food to takeaway and the service was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the food which was full of flavour and cooked really well. We will be using this restaurant again!

The interior decor is a little unenticing BUT the food is amazing so dont be put off! Service superb, extensive menu, great cooking.

We visited here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We'd booked and our table was ready for us on arrival. We ordered drinks and poppadoms which came quickly. The spicy mango chutney was really good and a nice change from the norm.

A pesar de un reciente aumento, los precios son muy razonables en comparación con los otros restaurantes indios locales. I come here regularly for my perfect signature dish. Twice a year I get a substantial takeaway for a group of friends from West London who visit me. There is a new chef, the team has grown....but the food and service is as good as ever. Despite having a dazzling choice of restaurants in West London, my friends rate Abdul's fare as good as any on offer.

I found myself in Great Dunmow for the evening on my own and fancied a curry. Google maps directed me to a couple and the ones that looked the best didn't look that good from the outside. I settled on the Dunmow spice. Delighted to report that it was the best curry I'd had in a very long time. The food was excellent, the service was excellent too and I only wish I lived much closer to Great Dunmow - not for the town but for Dunmow Spice.

We visit Dunmow about every three weeks and decided on this occasion to go into the Dunmow Spice for a supper around 9:30 on Saturday and what a nice surprise it was. Excellent food, nice staff who take an interest, and a lovely restaurant.Can't wait to go back.

Our friends invited us out to dinner and suggested this this small Indian restaurant in Dunmow they had heard about from other friends. so met them there this Saturday as arranged we walked as was met at the door by a very friendly employee the restaurant is quite cosy the service was very quick and the food was top notch and very reasonable we will defiently be returning

Another good curry. Went with my son again as he really likes this place. Service very good as my twelve year old son explained exactly what he really wanted and that's exactly what he got. My chicken madras was fantastic as was the veg dish and naan bread!! Cost with drinks more than fair. Back soon!!

We use this restaurant most weeks. Definitely the best in Dunmow and surrounding area. Food is always fresh and hot. Vegetarian friends love the vegetable dishes. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the food. Only downside is service can get a bit erratic if very busy.

Have lived in Great Dunmow for over 10 years and regularly use the take away service, good range of food, Fantastic, Service, but to eat in is even better. staff are so helpful and kind, they are very good and understanding with children. Just for a change my wife and I visited this Indian Restaurant in Dunmow. Although we usually used the other Indian we were persuaded to try as it was far less packed and no waiting. I am glad we did - an excellent experience all round. Good standard of food, service and value for money. Have raised the bar in Dunmow.

Popped in here last night. Haven't been in for years and will certainly be going here more often. Great service, attentive, very accomodating. Recommended particular portion sizes. Tandoori chicken is my preferred dish. It was an extremely generous size so value for money and very tasty. Will definitely return.

Last week I ordered takeaway for 7 of us with a mixture of dishes which were all freshly cooked and quite delicious. We collected our popadoms first and enjoyed them, with dips, over a glass of wine whilst waiting for our food to be cooked which we were advised would be about 40 mins. The staff are always welcoming and curteous and in my opinion this is the best indian restaurant in Dunmow. I have no reservations in recommending this restaurant and suggest that you treat yourself to a wonderful indian meal here... Sue Mc, Dunmow

This place doesn't look much from the outside- but don't be put off by that.Very good food as always- being vegetarian I asked if they would cook me a veg pathia not on the menu- no problem and it was spot on- hot, sweet, and sour. Other food very tasty as well- all the flavours coming through and served piping hot.All in all a very good restaurant.

Always enjoyable experience with the food always being great with great portion sizes as well. It might not be a super swish environment but it constantly delivers in the quality of food and service.

One of the best tasting Indians in the areas. Would defiantly recommend giving this place a visit if you are local. The food is presented in a great way and taste even better. THe service is fast and friendly waiter don't doge you like other restaurants do and are always willing to help.

We've been here a few times, unfortunately I don't think we would visit again. The food is mediocre and the restaurant has little/no atmosphere. The waiters look really miserable, which certainly doesn't help.The restaurant has a good location, but you can't help but feel that they are falling short of their potential.

We have now recently enjoyed several great meals at this restaurant which always provides excellent food in a pleasant and uncrowded atmoshere - definately worth a try if you enjoy a unrushed tasty indian meal

Food average but very salty and some of the chicken didn't taste like chicken. Very slow even though we were the only ones in there and no take away orders had been rung through as the phone did not ring once. Pataks sauce's and jars clearly visible on kitchen shelves. The waiter isn't very friendly either. It is a shame as it could be really nice.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday evening on recommendation by a friend.It is quite a well presented place in the middle of the high street.We were shown to a table right next to the kitchen and were a bit dissapointed to be able to see various jars of Pataks chutneys on a shelf inside. Do they not make their own?We ordered our meals from a very extensive menu. The service was quite good but the arrival of our meal took some time. It was however very nice and the portions were more than adequate.The problem came when we asked for our bill and as if by magic we were told they could not accept card payments due to a technical problem. Now I understand that problems do occasionally happen but why not say so before we had ordered?I asked the waiter what we should do as we did not have any actual cash at all on our person. We were told that there was a cash machine over the road.As it happens it was no major problem because we had a debit card but what would have happened of we were using a credit card which charges to make cash withdrawals? Would they have paid the cash advance fee?

When I moved to the area 4 years ago, I spent the first 4 months checking out all the Indians in the nearby towns. Since I came across Abdul and his friendly staff, I have made this my curry house of choice. Excellent food and my dish has been honed to perfection by the kitchen staff. On top of this, none of my guests have ever been disappointed.

Always eat here when travelling from Stansted- again superb. Both of us are 100% vegetarian and I asked for a vegetable dhansak - not on the menu. No problem - order taken and it is probably one of the best curries I have ever had- sweet/hot/sour - it had every thing.Looks like a normal curry house from the outside- dont be deceived- this food is as good as it gets- any where in the country!Staff are polite and professional- top marks all around.

Don't be put off by this narrow frontage Restuarant which gives it a bit of take awayish look. It's got a long narrow restaurant behind. The staff are friendly and professional, the food is very good, it's spotlessly clean and more importantly it break the family monopoly of Indians in Dunmow. Well done.
