A lovely cafe, the staff were really friendly, the coffee was good but it seems ordering the Japanese inspired slapped cucumber salad was a bit of a mistake - £12 for 2 mini spiralised cucumbers and a tiny bit of carrot and seasoning! My bad for expecting a full lunch-size plate of salad for that price. The rest of the menu looks lovely though.

My wife and myself paid our first visit yesterday to West Dulwich and whilst there came across the impressive Dulwich Picture Gallery. As we were relatively short of time, we decided to visit the Gallery on our next visit but popped into the nearby Cafe for a coffee. This was very nice - with no shortage of patrons - but the goodies on offer certainly struck me as being overly priced. That aside, well worth a visit - even if just for a coffee!!

I ordered the cheese and chorizo toastie and decided a side order of grilled tomatoes would work. The toastie was fine but my side (at £3.50) consisted of 4 thin slices of warm tomato. If put back together they would hardly have formed a half tomato. Prices here are not cheap - well we are in Dulwich - but I don’t think I’ve ever consumed such an expensive two mouthfuls of tomato anywhere else in the world. A first. And also a last. Although I will certainly visit the picture gallery again, lunch will be taken elsewhere.

After visiting the Dulwich picture gallery, which was free until February 13th, during a resetting of a new exhibition, we visited Flotsam and Jetsom, the Gallery cafe. We decided to have brunch.I ordered the eggs Benedict, my partner the Cheesy chorizo toastie.I definitely felt he had gotten the better deal as his toastie had of course two slices of sourdough bread,my eggs Benedict came with one slice of bread, and was more expensive. It was tasty, but I did think on reflection a more traditional hollandaise sauce would have been better.I looked at previous photos of the food and found a photo posted 7 months ago which did indeed have two slices of toasted sourdough bread, one for each egg ,which you would normally expect, especially as it was a pricy £10.95!I think having two slices of toast would definitely have made this better value.Bring back the extra slice!!! The service was good, smiley waiters, promp taking of order and delivery of food.

The place was full, we waited ten minutes for a table, and service was slow. There was no allergy advice on the menu, so I chose the only option that didn't come "on sourdough toast". I was promised salmon pate, chickpeas, and sliced beetroot. It arrived. My first thought was "Where are the chips?" Portions were tiny. The beetroot consisted of a few chunks and a few slices. The chickpeas - there were about five of them - were a garnish. I was hungry! I wanted lunch, not a taste sensation. The salmon pate was delicious - what there was of it. Why are museum cafes like this? The haute bourgeoisie need to eat too!

Visited for the Rubéns exhibition, cafe has since changed from last visit but we had a wonderful experience. Very festive atmosphere. Staff were lovely and very attentive. We had a turkey toastie with all the trimmings and a gallery special endive tarte tatin, followed by a couple of mince pies and mulled wine. The perfected ending to a visit in the stunning gallery exhibition. The staff were full of laughter and dance which was very warming to see. We found the old cafe a bit generic but will certainly be back in the new year.

Popped in here before a visit to the gallery. I wish we hadn't. We had a 'special' a toasted turkey and cranberry sandwich which was largely inedible. The bits of brown gristly turkey meat looked like they were left over from a week ago and the bread was soggy on the bottom. I left most of it and complained to the waitress...Oh she said "I'll tell the chef"....nothing else. The bacon sandwich had the smallest amount of bacon I have ever seen.. My coffee was not pleasant. Will not be going there again even though we live locally. there are many more places to eat in the area which are far superior.

It's alright but it's poor value for money in my view. We paid mid-budget lunch price for just "something on toast". This was not a balanced meal. There was no greenery. Salad garnish was offered but not delivered. There were no salads on the menu. The whole experience was a bit off-hand: scruffy menus, not entirely clean tables, rushed waiting staff. I had "mushroom gatherer" which was mushrooms on toast. It was extremely salty - and I am someone who likes salt. It was pricey, the price of a proper meal. But it was not a proper meal. My companion had the eggs royale which they liked, but again, no green vegetables.

First visit (for the Berthe Morisot - Shaping Impressionism) and I loved it! Wasn’t aware beforehand that this was the first purpose built art gallery and the architecture is stunning. The permanent collection includes Canaletto’s, Reynolds and was originally a Royal Collection, for the King of Poland. He was exiled before the collection could be set up hence this gallery being purpose built to show the artworks. Interior is beautiful. Nice cafe in a newer extension, also nice grassy grounds with deck chairs scattered around for you to sit in nature. Lovely setting.

We were lucky enough to visit here at the weekend and what a delight of a cafe. The staff were very attentive and the lady that took our order was very friendly and happy to make recommendations ( who we learned while chatting was the manageress) I ordered the avacado poached egg and feta on sour dough for myself while my daughter opted for the scrambled eggs .....the choices on the menu all sounded delicious. We both enjoyed our meals and the delicious coffees. We opted for the recommended carrot cake for desert and another coffee The carrot cake was beautiful. As it was such a sunny day we were in no hurry to leave our table in the sun and enjoyed a few Mimosas in the lovely surroundings of the park and gallery. The cafe was busy which to me is a sign of a good place to be. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Dulwich.

This place has been under new management since February 2019 and now it is terrible. Whereas the food, staff, service and ambience used to be good, under the new regime the staff and service has gone off the edge of the cliff.

The new furniture is good and it will continue to be lovely in the summer when the doors to the park are open. We were barely acknowledged on arrival (the cafe was empty) and the only conversation with any staff member was to say a) the cumberland saussage was probably too spicy for me (HOW would anyone be able to judge that from my appearance?) and b) there was no bread so substituations were being made.

This was the perfect venue for a late September lunch after visiting an exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. It was a sunny and fairly warm day, so I was pleased to be offered a table on the terrace in front of the café, overlooking the pleasant green space that surrounds the gallery. The décor is modern and simple, yet quite comfortable. The menu is a typical lunchtime menu, with a good choice of salads, quiches and pies, soup of the day, baguettes etc. I opted for a grilled halloumi salad, and a glass of rosé Pinot Grigio from a rather good list of wines available my the glass. The wine arrived quickly - just as well as there was a longish wait for the salad (admittedly, they were very busy). The halloumi slices could have been a little bigger, but they were nicely spiced, and accompanied by small portions of four different salads. I particularly liked the chickpea and capsicum salad, and the very aromatic bulgur. I was tempted to try one of the delicious cakes, but restricted myself to a rather good espresso which was served in a large coffee cup more suited to a cappuccino...a bit odd.Service was hard pressed but tried their best, the two people I encountered stayed professional, obliging and charming. Prices were normal for London - salad, wine, and coffee came to GBP18.00 incl. a 10 percent service charge. Very pleasant place!

This cafe looks lovely however the service was pretentious and off hand. I had taken my granddaughter to the Gallery then to the cafe for afternoon tea but found the cafe very disappointing to say the least. We stood at the desk and waited until the waitresses decided to show us to a table then I had to ask for the table to be wiped down. We ordered tea and lemon drizzle cake, also water. One of the glasses had lipstick on it which was replaced on asking the waitress. The cake came without forks and again we had to ask. The food is overpriced and service bad. Such a pity as it's in a lovely setting.

On a whim decided to have breakfast before going to the John Singer Sargent exhibition. What a great start to the exhibition! Really good ingredients, cooked without fuss - haven't had such a delicious breakfast since the Wolseley. Fabulous coffee and happy staff. Thank you.

Enjoyed lunch at the café having visited the Sargent exhibition. Café was very busy (it usually is) but we were seated quite quickly and didn't have to wait long to order, or for our food. Salad of the day was interesting and plentiful. Waiting staff were all pleasant and friendly.

An essential part of visiting the wonderful Dulwich Gallery is a coffee and cake at the café. Been here many times, but it never disappoints. Good coffee, great cakes and pastries all served by enthusiastic and friendly staff. Of course there can be a wait when the café is busy, but people need to remember that this isn't a branch of Starbucks. Plenty of seating both inside and out in the Gallery grounds.

The location is beautiful, especially in good weather, of course. Good selection of things to eat & drink, and lots of nicely arranged tables to sit at.

As it was such a wet day for our visit to the gallery and impossible to walk around Dulwich Village and park as we had intended, we had lunch in the cafe. Had to wait a while for a table but the lunch was very good indeed.

The cafe/restaurant adjoining the gallery is an attractive and obvious place to eat after a visit to an exhibition there. However I think it is perhaps a victim of its own success. We arrived too late to book a table for lunch and waited a long time for a cup of coffee. On returning after the exhibition we were able to get a table, but then many of the dishes on the menu had run out. One of us ordered the catch of the day, which was cod, and this had to be returned as it was undercooked. The dish was replaced, but the meal altogether was disappointing and the wait beforehand considerable. There are many other good places to eat in Dulwich Village and an option well worth considering.

What better way to indulge a little on a summer's afternoon after visiting an art exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery than to partake of coffee and cake in the cafe. Better still that the cafe has temporarily spawned two seasonal offshoots in the shape of the cabin, a wooden hut serving hot beverages as well as alcoholic bottled drinks with pastries and cakes which can then be taken directly to seats in the garden. Pity then that the beginning of August 2017 has seen the premature end of summer (one must travel to Italy, Sardinia or even Poland to burn in temperatures in excess of 40 Celsius these days) with intermittent squally showers and even high winds. Thus it was I felt obliged to find shelter for myself, my double espresso in a grossly oversized cardboard vase and triangle of chocolate brownie in the seasonal pavilion, a large glass cuboid with a bar on a stage offering exotic cocktails and the like. Sadly before long the wind had caused my two paper serviettes to take flight, another empty chair at my table to turn inwards, and my paper plate to venture eastwards no sooner had I consumed my brownie. Any lady visitor attired like some of her forbears in a few of the Sargent watercolours I had just seen risked the blowing upwards of skirts to reveal panties, midriffs, tattoos or worse.

After having visited the Dulwich Picture Gallery, we thought we would have a light lunch in the café.The Dulwich Picture Gallery Café is in a beautiful location and really looked inviting. It was half empty so we thought that meant we would get seated and served quickly. We waited ten minutes to be allocated a table because most of them had not been cleared and we were told someone would come and take our order shortly. We waited patiently for someone to come and take our order and although there seemed to be plenty of waiting staff, no one came to take our order. After waiting for fifteen minutes we gave up and left the café.On reflection, we were either very unlucky or invisible! We headed towards Dulwich Village, where we had lunch in a delightful little Italian Restaurant, Rocca di Papa.

It is one of those places that offers good enough food but the setting and the lovely vibe is what is on offer. If you catch a nice weather it is so lovely to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee. I have only had some cakes and drinks there so cannot judge food too much but it is a lovely place for relaxing cup of coffee.

Arrived mid afternoon last weekend with my son and grandson. Ordered tea and a sandwich. It seems the bar kiosk and cafe are run by different companies/owners. Table was covered with crumbs and no one came to clear. Tea, in paper cup, was ok but my smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich was a real disappointment. At almost £5 I would have expected the cream cheese, at the very least, to cover the bread. The salmon was equivalent to less than half the smallest slice in a supermarket pack.Ashamed to think tourists will take this as an example of 'places to visit' in London.

Had tea here yesterday after visiting the gallery. It was just what was needed - good choice for teatime, nice and cozy inside while it was pouring rain, although the outside seating area must be lovely in good weather. The staff went out of their way to be friendly, they were smiley and efficient.
