Lunch here today for birthday celebrations. Ages ranged from 3 to 91, everyone had a lovely time. Staff made us very welcome. Food was very good especially the belgian waffle with salted caramel ice cream. Had 3 dogs with us also made welcome

Lovely character pub in a village setting. Staff very friendly & knowledgeable. Food very good, slightly overpriced for what we all had. But nice experience and would revisit if in the area again.

Absolutely amazing food, couldn’t eat the whole lot because it was so much but honestly one ice the nicest meals I’ve ever eaten. 5 stars for sure

We go here when we're off to the cinema as its close by. Always lovely Sunday Roast, plenty of fresh veggies and a choice of meats and veggie options. Their soups are always home made, we would recommend it. Great choices on the menu for everyone. Helen and Jon and all staff are brilliant very friendly everytime, never been disappointed here. Clean everywhere which is a credit in a very old building, always a log fire going to keep you warm on cold days.

Wasn't overwhelmed by the food, but still enjoyed it. Service from the staff was spot on. Seriously need to look at the chairs saggy and frames loose as heck!

Update 2024 December Had the Christmas set menu which was fantastic, the traditional turkey was fine and portion size was huge, so don't eat anything before your meal. I personally thought it was couple of quid over priced. Don't get me wrong the food was good and service was out standing. The bar staff worked very hard so give them a good tip. UPDATE December 2023 Had our Christmas meal here. Great service and friendly staff. But to be honest personally I was disappointed with the mushroom soup, Christmas meal was good but could have been hotter. Still have a number of good range of real beers. Good range of draught beers, food and service excellent. Would have been nicer if the restaurant area had been warmer. Service in the normal bar area was sporadic.

I popped in for a drink with my son the other night. I was driving so wanted no or low alcohol beer. Was disappointed that the only offering was Heineken or Guinness. There are so many other no or low alcohol beers including IPA on the market that there should be more choice on offer. Please get at least an IPA. offering.

The pub is beautifully decorated for Christmas, with the log fire burning, very welcoming. Our meal was first class. The fish and chips was fresh and tasty. The beef and mash, and the chicken pie was also enjoyed by my friends. Hayley served us, nothing is too much trouble for her, assisted by a friendly young man in charge of the bar. A great way to spend a Monday evening! Looking forward to our next visit, that's Christmas Lunch with our MG Car club. Thank you.

Good food and good beer and friendly staff. Also very dog friendly. Visited again, usually go once a week whilst dog walking. Today went for dinner and had by request roasted tomato and red pepper soup which was fantastic, followed by pie of the day, beef and mushroom today and it was brilliant. Wholeheartedly recommend this pub.

Had an excellent afternoon tea - will definitely be coming back! Staff were very friendly and didn’t rush us. The food was great.

It's very much the 'locals', heads turn as you walk in haha. It's a little pricey on food but worth it. The staff a very welcoming and warm. We will definitely visit again for.a treat.

Lovely lunch!!! We tried little tapas dishes and sides and they were all very tasty. Had a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff!

The service in the bar area has gone downhill, the staff disappear for long periods into the kitchen or restaurant leaving customers to wait. I'm all for getting staff to multitask but not to the detriment of customers, perhaps a CCTV system that allows staff to view waiting customers may help. I write this as I was reprimanded for complaining about service, which I didn't, other local people were moaning and I unfortunately took the flak. Shortly after the same thing happened to someone else, the excuse by the barperson was "I was drying cutlery".

Wonderful place, the staff are so attentive and helpful. I'm gluten free, but my Afternoon Tea was so tasty. A lot of thought is put into the preparation. I'll definitely be coming back here.😋 Thank you for making my afternoon so special.

Took advantage of the take away roast dinner offering. Food was well packaged and hot. Portion sizes were perfect. Beef and lamb was good quality and a large variety of vegetables included. Would recommend.

Husbands fish was burnt black, my crab starter tasteless. Thing that annoyed us was a yapping dog in the pub garden that was allowed to keep barking and staff didn't tell customer to shut it up.It barked for more than an hour and was still doing so when we left. I love dogs but it was so annoying and definitely spoiled the £350 plus meal I had with my family I will not be going back or recommending it.

Went there as part of a large group of runners. We had asked before hand. The staff were friendly. Good selection of beers. Lots of seating in garden and outside covered area. Recommended.

Had a wonderful late afternoon lunch in the garden. Beautiful country setting, beautifully and tastefully decorated pub and lovely garden with colourful plants in tubs and bedding plants around the garden. Obviously popular with dog owners which suits me. Had burger, Mediterranean lasagna and mushroom wellington. Best pub meal we’ve had in quite a long time. Highly recommended and we will be back. We actually came for tapas which we’ve had before but was tempted by the main menu. Tapas is also great by the way.

The food was amazing, as was our waitress. Unfortunately, the pub lets itself down with dreadful toilets. Broken wooden toilet seat split in half, filthy toilet paper on the floor. No toilet roll and no soap. Unacceptable for your customers. Obviously, no one checks the toilets, and no one has bothered to have this toilet seat changed.

Such a great pub! Me and my partner stopped in after a walk for a meal and a pint. The food was excellent, great vegan options. The staff are lovely and helpful and managed to find us a table on a busy day. Will definitely be back at some point

Good family pub, with amazing surroundings.

Came for Christmas dinner. Starter was ok, so was dessert. Main was very underwhelming, potatoes only just roasted but very dry. Turkey was awful, extremely dry and hard.

The service was superb. We went with my son who has Coeliac Disease. The server (Helen) was phenomenal. She double checked if anyone had put anything with gluten in into the fryer used for chips. They had … meaning the chips were no longer gluten free. So she arranged for his chips to be oven cooked rather than him miss out. Truly going above and beyond. Fantastic food and first class service. Thank you

Can not thank staff enough. Last minute stop and find due to M20 closure and awful traffic jams took a break here. Would highly recommend. Thank you, guys, for great service. The children loved the takeaway and helped to ensure there were no hangry passengers on the way home.

Lovely little pub in the heart of a beautiful village. The food was a bit underwhelming - the veg lasagna was very oily, the roasts' Yorkshire puddings not cooked well. Very good fish and chips though. The place was really crowded, which might explain the food not being at its best.

The stuffed chicken was dry, bacon burnt and the filling was non existent. The crushed potatoes were hard and almost inedible, £18.95 wasted. The chicken burger was extremely dry but the chips were the best part of the whole meal. Shall not be returning!

Have eaten here on many occasions and have always enjoyed the food. Highly recommended.

A dog-friendly pub garden with plenty of space! Its outdoor space is stunning and well-kept, with breakout areas that never feel cramped! The interior has a lovely décor. The staff is friendly, and the food is super tasty. Prices are average for food and drinks! I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice space to enjoy the sunny weather and a good meal while catching up with friends.

Really nice and quiet pub. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. Food is good - had cottages pie and butternut squash bake - both were delicious. Great customer service. Toilets are clean and big with baby changing facilities. They have some board games to play if interested. Good little garden for outside sitting. Overall had a really good time and would love to visit again.

This was our first visit to this pub and it came highly recommended. The atmosphere and staff were spot on. Its a very welcoming place to eat and drink. Our meal was great and we had no complaints. My only disappointment was the lack of gluten free options as in none on the menu for starters or dessert . My husband is the ceoliac and refuses to to ask any chef to alter their menu as he appreciates all the hard work that goes onto planning and cooking etc. It would just be nice if just afew adjustments could be made to accommodate being ceoliac that nobody would notice any difference in the quality and taste. If there were more options available my rating would easily be 5 star

The food was wonderful. The restaurant area wasn't the warmest. I was OK but our friend wasn't warm at all. Drinks lovely. Toilets were extremely clean. Restaurant looked beautiful for Christmas. Friendly helpful very nice staff, think it was family run. Would recommend, and would really live to go back. Easy parking, too.

Food always good. The Duke burger is legend. Shame due to Covid and cost of food the lunch special have gone. Take the dog there are drinks and nibbles for them

The roast, both beef and nut, were delicious. Portions were a sensible size, though other menu items looked HUGE. Tasteful classic country pub decor... Yeah. Nice pub!

My dads family owned this hotel a 100 years ago. Can only wish to attend

Reasonably priced, but the meal was disappointing. The duck was overcooked and single-use condiment packets are dated, irresponsible and make it feel like a roadside cafe.

Lovely Pub, nice beer garden, Lovely food... Unfortunately it wasn't the easiest access for wheelchair use, I was decided it was best to try mobilise on foot with sticks.... Wouldn't fault the pub though as it is a good few hundred years old...

Crayfish salad disappointing and expensive for what you get.

Not blown away. Been a few years since I've been here but it's clearly gone downhill. The pub is still a lovely looking place in a quiet village but the service wasn't good. In fact it was hard work. They used to have a lovely selection of food but that's now been replaced by a very bland menu that takes an age to arrive. There's better pubs out there to visit.

We had a delicious dinner here last night 15th July. It was really good my hubby & l had duck which was cooked perfectly pink. My brother had ribs which was a really generous portion & so tasty & my elderly mum had salmon which she praised highly. . Will definitely be visiting again a real country fab pub
