We were well looked after by Liberty and Rob. Good atmosphere with excellent service and good value food and drink for money.

We've eaten here on many occasions but never had the Sunday Lunch until today.We were greeted by a lovely young waitress to take our order.My Husband ordered the pork dinner and I had the beef,there was plenty of meat,vegetables all fresh not frozen,Yorkshire puddings were large and also home made.We ordered cauliflower cheese to share and that was excellent,the food was nice and hot.This is a really well run establishment,your treated like a customer and nothing's too much trouble.The Greswolde Arms Knowle could learn a lot from here as their food is nowhere as good and service is non existant.

Myself and my 3 children enjoyed a meal out today at the Drum and Monkey. The food was standard pub fayre- hearty and good portions. The service from Liberty and Max was excellent- so much so that my children commented on how kind they were. Both staff made us feel very welcome. They were incredibly helpful, enthusiastic and warm. It was the staff that made the afternoon special. Thank you Max and Liberty for making the last meal out of the summer holiday a good one!! 😊👍❤️

This was our third visit since April, and I can honestly say that we have never ever had a bad meal or experienced anything other than great service. We both opted for a mixed grill each, and everything was cooked to perfection. The two ladies serving were friendly and helpful. We even had a history lesson on the name of the pub and its previous life as a coaching inn.

Great spot for a lovely lunch. Cosy and comfortable with a welcoming atmosphere and a good buzz. Extensive menu gives you great choice of substantial lunches or lighter options. Good drinks selection Staff are really lovely especially the Manager Rob

We have regularly used the 'Drum' and always enjoyed our meal, however on our last visit something was missing. We were disappointed with the new menu which did not seem to offer as much choice as the previous one. The staff just seemed to want to rush us through and the portions weren't as large as previous although the prices had increased. The table beside us had to send a childs meal back twice due to it being uncooked inside. As there is such a wide choice of eateries in the area we won't be rushing back I'm afraid.

Easy to book online. Had a warm welcome. Service was very efficient even though it was busy and all the staff were lovely. There were three of us and we all enjoyed our meals. The food was excellent. Thank you. We will return.

We have a New Year’s resolution to drive around on a weekend and find new places to eat. This pub was our first stop for 2024 and it was lovely . We had a Sunday roast . Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was amazing.

Visited for lunch and the food and service were excellent. Max and Liberty were helpful and friendly. We will definitely return again soon.

We weren't impressed with our lunch, unfortunately. The restaurant area was fully booked so we were sitting in the bar area, near the door & it was cold - so much so I had to sit with my coat on throughout the meal. We ordered drinks & food at the bar although the couple sitting next to us got table service, so no idea why we didn't. We both ordered the no leaf salad which was well presented but neither of us enjoyed the taste - not sure what it was but we didn't like it. We found the staff to be very offhand (maybe they were busy) but won't be going back.

Christmas Day Lunch Was simply superb it was everything we hoped it would be & it most certainly was! It was a most enjoyable experience we didn't feel rushed at all & everyone were enjoying themselves. The staff were as always fantastic 👌 👏 It was very pleasurable to have a cigarette break between courses. This is such a great find. I went here as a family and all were really happy with the food, The server Debbie was lovely and very friendly as was the bar maid Sharon. But yhe top marks need to go to whoever makes the yorkshires, I can honestly say they are the best yorkshires I have ever had (I ate 2 but could have done 4 lol)

Our host was Liberty, and she was perfect. The food was lush, and the atmosphere is cosy and lovely.

From the moment of arrival to the end of our lunch we had a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional and the staff were really friendly and professional especially Rob and Debbie.

Came here for an early evening meal on a busy December Friday evening as a table of 6. We had main courses, desserts and puddings. We live locally so have been here lots before. However, this visit stood out from our other visits. The food seemed better than average but the main thing that stood out was the quality of service. Natalie looked after us and was so attentive, and particularly thoughtful with making sure the kids had what they needed. This level of service seems quite rare these days, especially when places get busy, so I had to mention! The only potential area I could advise on is that the kids meals are small so more suited to littler ones than those above say age 6.

We went for a family meal with about 20 of us in our own room for no extracharge. Staff were so friendly and had to work hard. Everyone loved the food which was great value for money.

Car park is so dangerous. Riddled with potholes. Drove off. Not safe. Concerned about trying or damaging my car. Never again

Debbie is lovely, really helpful , great with our kids. The food is typical English grub, tasty and good value especially with Tesco vouchers! We always bring the dog and he gets biscuits and made a fuss of. Love coming here!!

We are mid week regulars for the Exceptional Cod & Chips, my wife has always wanted to go for Sunday Lunch, today we did & it was sublime hot great portion of delicious Turkey. Probably our best Sunday Lunch out for a very long time!!! We have now booked up for the following three Sundays & to top our fantastic visit, we have booked for CHRISTMAS DAY😃 My sincere congratulations to the Kichen staff Debbie our waitress & Rob for sorting out our future bookings. I would have recommended this place to eat, until the 24th September 2023. The food is excellent, so I would like to say congratulations to the Chef. It wasn’t until it was time to pay the bill, the situation transpired into something really ugly. We experienced being bullied, mocked and personally attacked by the staff. My daughter had a 25% voucher,, which she had used a previous 2 weeks before (perfectly valid) the young person asked if I wanted to see the Manager, I automatically replied yes please, she wasn’t happy and flounced off to get her. When the manager eventually came over, we found her totally unhelpful, and found the whole situation amusing by smirking as her other 2 other members of staff continued to hurl a myriad of abuse and call us (the customers) rude and embarrassing. As a family that go to the Drum and Monkey regularly, have never experienced such immature, nasty and rude service. I could go on. The Manager totally lost control of her staff, and did nothing to diffuse the ordeal. My only hope is that the two young people who are waitresses, are not experienced enough to deal with such situations. Also, as the Manager was asked to come and see us, they should have been getting on with their duties, and not getting involved in something that did not concern them. They have a lot to learn. We are deeply shocked, and the Greene King Chain should really take this seriously, if their staff think it is acceptable to speak to customers in this manner, they are sadly incorrect.

Saturday afternoon with the family, 6 adults and three children. Meal portions very small and needed to order extra chips, charged £3.45 Total bill was £215.92. Three steaks ordered asked to be cooked differently all were the same medium well done. The premises looked run down and in need of a good clean, thick dust on the window sill. Beer Garden in need of attention. Could be a lovely pub but we won't be returning.

Just popped in for a quick pint. Nice getting from the manager and good service from the bat staff. The Abbot was on good form, as usual. This is one of the best pubs in the area for consistently good real ale. And there's 10% discount for Camra members. Would recommend!

Absolutely wonderful service from all at the Drum and Monkey! Fantastic customer service, the staff couldn’t do enough for you! To top it off the food was amazing!! My daughter and I popped in for a couple of drinks after a meal elsewhere. The first drinks were served without a problem, but my daughter went to the bar for a second time and waited while other people were served before her who had gone to the bar after her. She then asked what gins they had. The response from two staff members was “they’re round the corner” Any other pub/bar I’ve ever been in will usually tell you what drinks they serve and not expect you to search for yourself. Very bad service! There was also a table of young people in the pub who were getting quite loud. A man, who I assume was an off duty staff member asked them to be quiet, which they were for a while, and then they left. His response after they had gone was ‘I f****ing hate kids”. While amusing I’m not sure that’s appropriate when there are other customers still on the premises. Not sure we’ll be returning any time soon.

Running late on way home from a meeting I stopped for some food close to the company at house! What a poor decision on arrival the place was busy with locals so I was hopeful that the food might be ok. After waiting several minutes a member of staff finally spoke to me (after I blocker her as she was passing me) I was told to order food at the bar and go to a table I asked for a ‘dressed’ table close to the bar but was directed to a table near the bar area, I pointed out that all the tables were dirty and full of plates!!! Finally the bar man lifted the plates but didn’t clean the table! I waited expecting someone with a cloth to arrive but the mushroom starter came first! It was not so bad so I was hopeful that the food might be better than the service and cleaning! Unfortunately the mixed grill arrived and was dry and lacking flavour, the sides were worse than the mains which was quite an achievement considering the quality of the mains! All in all I wasted almost £40 on a meal that was £4 quality (starter) Just to make it worse when the mains arrived they didn’t even remove the plate from the starter! All in all a place to avoid get a CooP meal deal give the shop £15 for it and it will still be better value than this place!

Another good lunch, good service and good value for money. Shame they don't do the smaller plates now which some of us wanted but apparently not practical now. Their menu is widening so not just good pub food now which may be off putting to some as the prices are also higher.

We called in here on Friday 15th October at lunchtime with our 2 dogs. Dog friendly pub, lovely pub inside, advised we could sit in the bar with our dogs but we chose to go into the garden. We visited the drum and monkey earlier in the year, and just had to rave about our recent visit. We were once again in the area and thought we would give the drum a revisit, and it somehow got even better than we remember. Not to repeat myself from last time, but if you are in the area the drum is well worth a visit even if it's just to sample their gorgeous ales! Well done once again drum!

4 of us visited this restaurant for a meal for my husbands birthday, The first time since Covid, The menu seemed reduced in choices, and upon choosing dishes 3 were unavailable,, requiring us to settle for 2nd or even 3rd best. The food was good and the service was applauded by the staff working hard to please us. The restaurant was very noisy due to more children than usual, when some of them departed they went outside but were really annoying by banging on the windows opposite our table and gesturing , we alerted the staff and Rachel ..a lovely lady went immediately to sort out the problem. By this time we were disappointed with our visit and left early to return home.

I’ve been several times over the last couple of months and found every time service with a smile and really friendly staff. Last visit was for my moms 70th and we was a party of 11. Food was excellent and i think it’s good value. Food came out as requested. I like the signature hunters chicken and recommend the sharing platter starter. Pub has a really relaxed feel to it with a nice beer garden.
