Driftwood in Glasgow City

A truly awful bar, Glasgow city council should really be reviewing their license because of clearly serving underage teenagers. If your a visitor to the area I would recommend any other bar in a 1 to 2 mile radius rather than driftwood.

Lively wee boozer, friendy staff, good selection of drinks which are fairly priced.

Great wee pub before a night out on the town

Kirsty was overly accommodating for us, best bar in Glasgow undoubtedly - cheap shots and cocktails. Kirsty was very welcoming approachable and went above & beyond to ensure we were fully satisfied throughout our visit. Kicked me out for wearing joggies and didn’t even let me back in absolute rats

No one in the pub, and they wouldn't let me in by myself. No wonder it's dead. Staff were extremely rude about it, too. I'm not sure why Glasgow doesn't let anyone in if they're solo, absolutely disgraceful if you're travelling solo. Makes it so much harder to meet people. It was only 7 pm, too

I'm giving this place 1-star to really emphasise the issue we experienced that caused us to leave fifteen minutes after arriving. It was my friend's birthday and he organised a night to have with our group by booking a table for 6 (costing him £30) a couple days in advance. The table was booked for 7pm and we arrived at 7pm sharp (later than we aimed for, but we assumed it wouldn't cause any problems). The place was crowded but that was partially to be expected due to it being a Friday night. Unfortunately, the abundance of people was the root of the problem that came next. After waiting some time to be seated at a table - which for some reason wasn't already prepared upon our entry - we were almost instantly greeted with an obnoxiously loud group seated next to our table. Typical drunk behaviuor. My friend requested we be moved to another table, but this wasn't possible according to the bar staff. Our next request was for the noisy group to be asked to pipe down a tad, but they denied possibility of that too. In the end, the experience just wasn't worth holding out for the rest of our friend group to arrive. And it certainly, by any means, was not worth paying £30. On our way out, one of the staff apologised for our unsatisfaction. Apology accepted I guess, though we already made our decision regarding coming back in the future. Thank goodness Katie's and AXM were nearby to save my friend's birthday night-out. Driftwood, you have good drinks. I'll give you that. But it's not enough to promise a good night in the future. You need to do better.

My experience wasnt enjoyable. 7 people behind the bar, 5 people waiting to order a drink and you will still wait 10-15 minutes, also, alot of the other customers were quite rude and I'd imagine it's the same type of customers every week. Not the kind of place I'd drink in again

The food is dry, service is shocking and the quiz host Nicola has horrible social skills ( what kind of quiz doesn’t repeat questions) weird

Rude bar member, I assume the owner, older lady with blonde hair - place was not crowded very quiet and we were told we had to order a drink because this a 'bar', myself and a friend had only just come in and gotten water. Very rude and condescending from the staff, not interested in going back

Situated on the Charing cross end of Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, decor is basic, we sat outside enjoying the sun. There are excellent deals on shorts and mixers. Has a student clientele mostly, however if you are passing well worth a visit. Staff are friendly and helpful. Nice pub

Staff member wanted me to leave without my only form of getting home after my partner vomited. Treated me like I was the one that vomited. The place wouldn’t answer my calls to try find my charger. Won’t be back ever. Cheap drink but customers are not treated with respect. Might I add bar staff serve customers that are visibly drunk more drink which I find disgusting! Bar staff are extremely rude especially staff on shift for the date 03/04/23 Would rate lower if I could!!!

Shocking treated like dirt by rude bar staff you have to be 15 years old to be served bring your class mates from school you will be served no problem. Never will return there is better pubs that only stick by the law.

Went in at 4pm for food & were asked to leave AFTER being seated because my partner had (plain) black cargos on. It's Scotland & it was torrential wind & rain outside, why would he wear jeans? There were only 2 people in as well. Ironic how last time I was in years ago I was an underage teen without I.D & pretty drunk, now in my 30's I get turned away on a quiet afternoon looking for food. Save yourself the hassle & go literally to any other bar on Sauchiehall St & surrounding (Box, Bloc, Broadcast etc. are all excellent).

No regard for girls safety. was being harassed by a man in the bar. told the manger and she told me that “wasn’t how things worked” and she couldn’t remove him from the premises. felt very unsafe.

Apparently they don't allow solo customers which is one of the weirdest things for a pub/bar I've ever heard. Funny thing is went in Monday night also solo and was served a lovely pint so thought I'd go back. Guess I might go in next time if I have some mates 😂 absolute joke.

Watered down drinks fun music but don't drink or expect to get drunk

Whoever was serving on the 7th October around 5pm was the rudest bar member I have ever encountered. Not pleasant - down right ignorant and cheeky to my partner he was so taken aback that we left after 1 drink. Why are you working in that profession with an attitude like that? Will never be back. First impressions matter.

The place may be great but I wouldn't know - I was denied service because I was alone. They "don't take solo customers". I've been travelling solo for years now and I have never come across a policy like that. It was also a Wednesday evening, not very busy, and they have a bunch of seats at the bar and facing the windows that I can't imagine are very popular with groups. Not impressed.

Me and my friends tried their venom slushee and were all entranced, it tasted absolutely amazing and all at an affordable price .. there were seats outside for people who did not want to listen to the deafening music inside, which was really nice as well. It is also very well located contra other cheap affordable bars nearby.. it does not have very good subway connections meaning the bus is the only valid choice

Drinks were cheap, creative and yummy, music was good, and vibe was GREAT. Definitely the place to start off a night of clubbing in Glasgow.

Great pub with a fun cocktail menu and good prices for Glasgow city centre. Not far from the hydro and SECC as I went here before going to see Stereophonics at the Hydro. Just a 5 minute taxi journey away, it cost about a fiver and it was the same to get to driftwood from Buchanan street bus station.

My friend was told to leave as she was wearing ‘tack suit’ bottoms and this place has a no tracksuit policy, we showed the manager that these were labelled Adidas trousers on the website but the manager still told us to leave, I asked what the policy was about considering it’s a bar in Glasgow that sells cheap drinks, what customers do they expect to attract ? she said “90% of bams wear tracksuits”, I worked in a country club that wasn’t even as snobby and judgemental as this place, I also watched this woman speak about my friend behind the bar, please learn how to be professional and maybe some customer service skills would be lovely too as she was very blunt and just rude.

Driftwood is a great place for cheap booze and an energetic crowd. It's always a fun night out here and the staff are really friendly.

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! 100% the worst experience I’ve had in Glasgow. First of all the staff are rude and clearly need customer service training. We arrived on time for our booking and were left standing in the street for 15 minutes. Then when we were seated it took 20 minutes before they took our drink orders. The drinks were fine but you could get better from wetherspoons. We were in there for at least an hour before they came back to give us the chance to order food (wish we hadn’t). Food was bland and clearly just reheated from frozen. This was especially clear when one of the members of our party bit into a chicken dipper that was entirely frozen in the middle. The staff were unapologetic when we finally managed to flag down someone to replace them. Horrible staff, horrible service, horrible experience altogether.

My friend and I booked a table for drinks, initially we were asked to wait around 10 mins later than our booking and ultimately we were shown our ‘table’ which seated 2 and faced a wall. Despite our efforts engaging every member of staff no one actually took an order so after 35 mins we walked out. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE- ABSOLUTE DISGRACE

Great place, unfortunately the experience was tarnished by the bartender with glasses. We booked a table inside for later that night, and because we were sitting outside before that our booking wasn’t fulfilled, even although you can’t book outside seats anymore. So It literally makes zero sense. A place you thoroughly enjoyed tarnished by power tripping bartenders. Shame really.

I went here a few days ago and went in to use the toilet. I am exempt from wearing a mask as I suffer from a heart and lung problem but the staff refused me entry to the toilet because ‘they don’t allow exempt people in’. I explained to them this is not something that can be company policy, the current covid law states you do not have to prove your exemption and that you should not be discriminated against for your disability. Despite this, I showed the staff my exemption card and they still would not let me in. Bit hypocritical coming from staff who did not have their masks up inside either. Very disappointed at the ableism shown from the staff.

The decor is nice but the music is not. And it has a reputation as being a place for neds in all honesty

Had heard good things about this place so booked two tables for a group of friends. Got there and they had no idea about our booking the waitress couldn’t seem less bothered if she tried about this booking issue. We were lucky in that they managed to squeeze one table in for half of us while the rest had to stand outside and wait. Waited around 15 minutes and we eventually got a table. This same waitress in particular was very rude and quite frankly seemed to not have the time of day for us. We left after one drink. The only saving grace and the reason there are two stars and not one is that the drinks were very nice.

Me and my friends from Uni, had booked a table on Thursday, and despite the Covid restrictions on beer gardens, we were thoroughly impressed that they sent outdoor heating during the cold times! They really care for their customers, and even when the kitchen was closed, went that extra mile to get us 2 portions of chips. Will absolutely be going back when they open for sit in, as it was a lovely atmosphere. Staff are very friendly ❤️

Luego entramos y nos dijeron que no había mesa para nosotros. Luego regresamos después de otra hora y nos sentamos en lo que apenas es una excusa de una mesa al lado de la puerta. ÉramosLuego ofrecieron una mesa por dos chicas encantadoras que sabían que nos estábamos congelando y estaban a punto de irse. Luego se nos acercó una mujer que gritaba "NO PUEDES CAMBIAR LAS MESAS" (esto fue después de que ya habíamos pedido mudarnos debido al borrador. Luego se acercó a nosotros nuevamente y dijo "síganme por favor" después de ignorar nuestra orden y nos sentó una mesaPara dos, eso claramente no estaba socialmente distanciado, ya que había menos de un metro de la mesa de al lado con un frágil trozo de plástico entre ellos. Nuestra pregunta de si todavía se estaba sirviendo comida también fue ignorada. También tardaron 20 minutos en tomar nuestro pedido y otros 30 minutos más en servirnos 4 bebidas. Actitud 0/100. Atención al cliente 0/100. Ridículo.

Honestly the best night out in town that you can have. I come to driftwood pretty regularly and I always enjoy my night here, the staff are always lovely and friendly and keep the spirits up during the night. The drinks are cheap and (when the music was playing pre corona) it was amazing tunes. Would recommended driftwood to anyone looking for an amazing night out xx

Escuché cosas buenas sobre la madera flotante, así que reservé una mesa para 2 para tomar unas copas para la noche de cumpleaños de mi pareja. Enviado 5 minutos antes de la hora de nuestra reserva y nuevamente dos veces después, y cada vez se le dice que “vuelva en 20 minutos” porque “nadie quiere dejar sus mesas”.Cuando finalmente llegamos al bar, nos sentamos en un rincón oscuro y ruidoso. Fui al bar a pedir bebidas y me dijeron que solo era servicio de mesa. Esperé 20 minutos para tomar una orden de bebida y luego otros 15/20 minutos antes de que nuestras bebidas llegaran. Cóctel aguado que dejó la mesa como un charco, y una pinta plana. Ni siquiera terminé las bebidas antes de irnos.Sé que es un bar de estudiantes, pero era más como una discoteca de escuela primaria.

Siempre disfruté de una visita a Driftwood pero muy decepcionado con el servicio reciente.Cupones comprados de Groupon antes del cierre y durante el cierre. Ahora no honrarán los cupones a pesar de reabrir y ni siquiera me dieron una explicación, solo dijeron que lo hable con Groupon.¡Afortunadamente, groupon fue más útil! !

Después de descubrir Driftwood a través de las redes sociales, ¡hicimos planes para ir!Afrontando el mal tiempo, caminamos por la calle Sauchiehall y encontramos una mesa en Driftwood.Entre nosotros tenemos 2 macarrones y 2 fajitas de pollo. Las fajitas estaban chisporroteando y tan bueno y mis amigos valoraron altamente sus macarrones.También probamos algunos de los 2 cócteles y me ofrecí uno con el tema de Star Wars. 50Es un gran bar y sin duda volveremos.Lo único negativo fue que era un poco con corrientes de aire donde estábamos sentados, así que estábamos un poco fríos, pero esto realmente no era un problema.

Casi seguro de que este lugar diluye su alcohol ya tacaño para que puedan darse el lujo de venderlo a precios baratos. Entiendo que esto se comercializa como un bar de estudiantes, pero cuando básicamente estás bebiendo agua con sabor aguada, ver a los niños tratar de desecharse entre sí comienza a preguntarse.Fuimos porque nos gustó el sonido de su menú de cócteles pero nos sentimos muy decepcionados. Terminamos nuestras bebidas lo antes posible y fuimos a varios bares más bonitos un poco más adelante.

Went in with a Groupon voucher for pizzas and drinks then stayed for a few more as the vibe and service was excellent especially from Gavin who checked up on us and made sure are glasses were never empty, will be visiting again.

Drinks are cheap so this place gets BUSY. Music a bit loud that you can't really hear what people are saying to you... plus it's cash only which is a bit annoying.

Loved it 1.50 for a gin and tonic in a plastic cup. Also did the worm on the dance floor. Everyone thought i was a hero

Literally stuck to the floor so sticky there was nearly an accident. New mop needed as they were cleaning the toilets with a mouldy mop and it really smelled. A good clean and wiuld be a better rating.

I went on a Thursday night so it was busy with students. The atmosphere was great and the music was mostly cheesy pop and rock that everyone could sing along to. The bat staff were friendly and served quickly. I'd go here again.

Everyone needs a trip here... Just 5 mins in a taxi from Glasgow city centre lies Disney cocktail heaven. All the cocktails were £3.50. £10 for a fishbowl. Relaxed atmosphere and good music. Perfect for catching up with friends

A decent place to hang out at night. Fish tank, cheap drinks, nice music. It’s also close to a lot of great pub and late night food. A fair choice for student and young people especially.

Great to start a night out, the atmosphere, pricing and drinks are damn good. The seating is okay, however good luck getting a place to sit down if you arrive past 9. It gets very crowded and it takes very long to get drinks ordered at late times due to it being a small bar. Which you can't really blame it for.
