We came here for Sunday lunch/dinner and were very disappointed. The venue itself is a bit soul-less and drab. With the execption of one female server, the staff seemed very unhappy to be there. Very busness-like and straigh-faced. We were not checked on during the meal and were not offered anything ese. When I had to use the bathroom, I was sickened by the strong smell of urine on the stairs. There is no way on earth the staff/owners cannot smell this! Cross your legs if you need to go. I was only thankful that I went AFTER I had eaten. Sunday lunch - I am not a chef but I could have done better myself. There was a fair portion of beef but it was fatty and chewy. The 'roasted' veg was heated up (barely) and defiinitely not roasted the way it should be. Tiny amount of mashed potatoes...although I was glad as it tasted powdery. I have been ill for over a month and have not been able to go out for dinner or lunch very often. I really wish I had chosen better. I am struggling to say anything positive so I won't try to. The prices do not reflect the establishment's merits. Not worth the money. Would I recommend? No way. Would we return? Definitely not.

We visited here at the weekend after being given a a voucher for a Sunday lunch. As soon as we walked in (around 12:30) I thought it smelled slightly odd, like old urine, as did my wife. We changed the bottle of wine that came with the meal for some soft / non-alcoholic drinks and there was no issue with that. The Sunday Roasts arrived and we're fine in general but I wouldn't have been impressed if we'd had to pay the menu price. The beef was cooked well and the few pieces of roast veg were tasty enough but I dare say that the mash was powdered and the Yorkshire puddings were frozen packet ones. Pretty much an average roast dinner but not what I would expect for the menu price... thankfully we hadn't paid. . Overall, it was a nice gift for us to have a free Sunday dinner but if it wasn't for that I dare say we wouldn't have visited for food. I do believe it would have a good atmosphere for drinks and to watch sport etc but for a Sunday roast I would head somewhere else.

Menu very limited and temperature very low We sat with jackets on the whole time I ordered stories and my cousin chose fish and chips Stovies were tiny pieces of sausage literally floating in a large bowl of horrible gravy Fish was smothered in salt My cousin complained about the salt situation on her fish but neither the waitress nor the male behind the bar apologised Just processed the bill and didn’t appear to care I works not return as complete waste of money for what should have been a nice lunch

Nice environment with multiple screens playing sports (football and tennis) playing music rather than the TV sound it also has a pool table It's a pub, not a restaurant but has a lot of seats I had the "Chilli Willie" bratwurst sausage served in a sweet hod dog bun with chilli and chips, it was ok but no better but the chips were lovely. I think at £14 it's very overpriced... But it was filling in a nice environment with pleasant staff, and I'm pretty sure I couldn't get better value in Glasgow In short the price was shocking but understandable and I enjoyed my meal and would go back

Booked for 14 off us for Dinner and Drinks on a Saturday early evening. Nothing was too much trouble and food was superb. Great atmosphere and service was above and beyond. Would not hesitate in recommending Scallion to anybody who just wants a drink or food also. Thanks again for looking after us. Stuart

Came in for a Sunday roast and was not disappointed! Beef was stunning, so tender and amazing flavour. Veggies done to perfection as well. 10/10! Definitely add on the cauliflower cheese, you will not regret it! Fabulous service, staff very friendly and attentive. Really lovely interior, relaxed atmosphere with a pool table too! Forgot to take pics as we were ravenous and inhaled our meal 😆 Be back soon!

We made a reservation online in advance, but when we arrived, the staff hadn’t put a reserved sign on any table or booth (all were filled) and so we felt lucky to even be seated, with staff pulling apart a table of 8 next to seat us next to another family of 4. (It annoyed me; I expect that when I make a reservation, a table is actually reserved.) Every time the door opened, we were hit with really cold air - the kids’ hands were freezing by the time we finished. Not great, but hey ho. They served us the dinner of the family next to us - not particularly an issue, but it happened. Chicken Kiev was REALLY dry and not very tasty, and the Scallion Burgers were overcooked, unfortunately. Service was very, very good. Excellent selection of cider - Original Strongbow on tap was amazing. We wouldn’t go back for food; for a West End gastropub in Glasgow, we expect much, much more. Drinks between friends, sure - but food? Dinner for a family? Go elsewhere.

We weren't going to write this review but noticed when looking that the two below people had written a bad review about their experience to which we were witnesses of. The staff at the Scallion were great and very welcoming to everyone. A large table came in who were upsetting other customers by running around the pub with their kids allowing them to go on to every table and dirty each table. We weren't sure what was happening but heard the customers saying to the manager who was dealing with them politely that the young boy server was stupid, throwing money at the girl and saying that is all their service was worth, this was after they had already complimented the service and the food. Throughout this whole experience the staff continued to be professional and kind despite how horrendous these people were acting. Please do not take these reviews seriously if you are thinking of visiting the scallion as we have been locals since they opened and have never witnessed anything but great service, banter and great food.

The staff here were very welcoming, especially with my pooch which is always a selling point for me and would lead to us returning. The food was good, apart from there being no kimchi for the burgers my brother in law and I had, which had been the deciding factor for us when ordering, which isn’t a huge deal but we could have been told beforehand. There were 8 of us in our party we ordered a fair amount of food and drink to the total of £212. When settling the bill, we noticed we were being overcharged for an extra pint. Im not sure where the error came from, but we knew we hadn’t had it. The manager was downright rude and argumentative, insisting this was paid for or she was calling the police. A dispute went on for a fair amount of time before we just paid and left. In my haste to get out of there, absolutely mortified I paid the extra, not realising until I left I paid for not only one extra pint but for two!! I don’t work in hospitality, but two of the people in our party do and were absolutely gobsmacked at the behaviour of this manager. They also work locally to here so you can be guaranteed plenty of others will hear about it. When a large party are spending that amount of money is the done thing to argue in front of other customers in the pub over a pint? This woman was then heard miscalling and discussing us with other customers in the bar. Very unprofessional to say the least. As I said earlier, we are always looking for somewhere dog friendly and this pub is a great location for us to all meet up as some of us live close by. Absolutely disgraceful customer service.

We booked The Scallion for a famly Sunday lunch. When we arrived the staff were welcoming and very attentive to the dog in our party. Two of our party ordered the Korean Fried Chicken burger with kimchi, the rest of us ordered the Sunday roast. The Chicken burgers arrived without the kimchi and when my brother in law asked for some he was given a small scraping. When he went back up to ask for more he was told they had none left but they would take something off the bill (they took £1 off the bill for the two burgers). The roasts were fine. the meat was cooked well but all of the veg was a tad under done, although nothing to complain about. There were a number of none drinkers in our party so rather than split the bill we all decided to pay for what we had, this is where the problems started. When we counted the pints we noticed we had been charged for an extra pint, however when we pointed this out to our server she was told several times by the manager that we had indeed had the extra pint and we were being charged for it, in actual fact the young man that served us actually brought us an extra pint in one of our rounds which in good faith we said we would probably drink anyway, so just to leave it, meaning in reality we were charged for two extra pints. However, this should not have been an issue, our bill was £212, not an insignificant amount on a Sunday afternoon and any pub manger worth their salt would have recognised this, however after a fair bit of backwords and forwards it became clear that the lady in charge was not for budging and said she had full faith in young Rory and would take his word over her paying customers all day long. She literally called us liars and threatened us with the police when we started to get annoyed. The annoyance was not necessarily over the extra pint it was the sheer lack of customer service. If you have customers in your bar spending over £200, does it make any sense to fall out with those customers over the price of a pint? We all live local to the bar and none of us will return. Whoever owns this bar needs to remind their staff that they work in the SERVICE industry and explain to them exactly what this means as the service we received was disgusting!
