Can’t recommend this restaurant enough , straight from the start we were treated with very high levels of customer service. Are waiter Maryann is a testament to how attentive and knowledgeable a waitress can be in the hospitality industry. You can tell there is a lot of love and care that has went into the food and drink menus as both were outstanding, The flavours from the food was out of this world and the cocktails were so creative.

Went for a nice meal and they treated us like tourists I live up in Glasgow and I’ve heard good things about this place but they were rude and decided to only give us one menu which only contained one thing which was just under £40 per person we complained then they gave us the other menu but it was too late by that point there attitude towards us and the fact they thought they could scam us by only giving us that one menu ruined my birthday dinner so we left very disappointing I don’t recommend

Never actually heard of this restaurant, so I checked out the menu online. We ordered guacamole and nacho, which you can't really go wrong. THEN we ordered pulled pork tacos and Cod Tacos and some skin fries with one extra halloumi, My tacos were OK the filling could have been anything not any great flavour the Cod taco I thought were smelly definitely there was a strong fishy smell. but not fresh, We liked the atmosphere and a great band playing Mexican music , The server was very good with lots of smiles, I don't think it was good value all flash and no substance

Although it is quite expensive, there are dishes for £8-9 that are delicious such as the nachos, the empanadas (the best), the croquettes and something else that I don't remember, they were finger-licking good.

As much as the food and entertainment were 12 out of 10 stars (and will go back), look closely at your bill. We got charged for an expensive bottle of wine and beer that we did not order or consume. I don't feel this was intentional but it did make us wonder. It can get very busy but still lively and enjoyable.

El Santo is a true gem in Glasgow! As soon as you step through the door, you're transported to South America with their vibrant atmosphere and delicious food. The continuous rodizio service is a game-changer - being able to control the pace of your meal while enjoying a variety of grilled meats is such a treat. From the succulent picanha to the flavorful chicken and lamb options, there's something for everyone's palate. And let's not forget about the Brazilian sides and sauces - they perfectly complement the main dishes and add an extra layer of deliciousness to the meal. Whether you're a meat lover or just looking for a unique dining experience, El Santo is the place to be.

I've never felt the need to leave a review for a restaurant before now but el Santos has definitely earned it! Me and my partner walked into el Santos for the last night of our holidays. We did not check the reviews of this place before we came which was definitely a mistake! First things first! I've never been made to feel more uncomfortable by a server in all my life. Think the blonde server was determined to dislike us from the off! Felt like she was annoyed by everything we did such as ask for more time deciding on food, not prononcing the wine name correctly and asking for our food all to come together ( not possible which was fine). Long story short we have to wait 35 minutes between tiny little places of food. I 100% get the wait time if it was busy but there was about 5 other tables in the place. Food was nice enough but definitely not worth the ridiculous price tag for the tiny winy portions. We then asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill (which I've never done before) for our server to then argue with us about it! I would have been okay with the slow service and over priced medicre food if the server had been nice to us - but treating us like we don't deserve to be there is a step too far for me. Pretty snobbish

Went on a Friday night and had high hopes. The restaurant is decorated very nicely. However, I felt the staff were quite rude. It wasn’t busy but there were a lot of people standing around. No one asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food is average, the portion sizes are small and it’s not the cheapest. The place itself is lovely, the decor and music make it a great atmosphere. But everything else is ‘meh’ - food was fine but nothing special for the price, our food came out at different times which was annoying but the waitress did apologise and offer a free round of drinks. Even after this the wait between courses was too long, they definitely need more staff on for a Sat evening. There are so many great places in Glasgow so I wouldn’t choose to return.

6 of us went for the Sunday Rodizio bbq menu The place is beautifully decorated very welcoming The waitress came to explain how it all worked but was very quietly spoken and we couldn't really understand her. You get unlimited sides Which were chips, rice, garlic bread, black bean stew, potato salad and dough balls Then they bring different meats around and serve you until you have had enough But this was a bit hit and miss The waiters seemed to be struggling to serve some of it, they served 2 of us with sausage ran out of it and never came back with anymore same happened with another meat too. And although most of the meat was delicious it was so salty as were the chips It would have been nice to have had some refreshing Salads with it rather than so many carbohydrates not a bad place but I've been to much better one of this style of restaurants.

It's a shame, the food was really good but the service was awful. Constantly having to chase to order drinks, drinks being ordered and not arriving, food being ordered and the wrong things coming out, mains coming out, sauces missing, main meals being finished and then sides arriving after the grill items were eaten 20/25 minutes later. The service was chaos. The atmosphere wasn't for me, too loud to the extent you can't hear the person next to you, waitress coming to the table asking who's ordered X but nobody can actually hear lol. Dancers every five minutes with sparklers and an annoying cameraman documenting everything with a flashing camera. Lastly toilets... you can't see if they are occupied as it's single toilets, you have to press every door to check if it's locked or not as its too dark in the corridor. Focus on the service and get the high quality food out. Less gimmicks. Food and service first. Need to stress the food was exceptionally good. But the service of the kitchen and front of house needs massively improved.

El Santo restaurant is an utter disappointment from start to finish. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with an air of indifference from the staff, particularly the manager, Panos, who seems more interested in chatting with his colleagues than ensuring guests are properly attended to. The lack of professionalism is glaringly evident in every aspect of the dining experience. The staff is poorly trained and oblivious to basic customer service etiquette. It's as if they're doing you a favor by allowing you to dine there. The food, if you can even call it that, is mediocre at best. It's clear that quality is not a priority at El Santo. Dishes are poorly executed, lacking in flavor and presentation. It's as if the kitchen staff couldn't care less about the culinary experience they're delivering to customers. The ambiance is equally disappointing. The decor is tired and uninspired, reflecting the overall lack of care and attention to detail that permeates the entire establishment. It's clear that no effort has been made to create a welcoming or memorable atmosphere for guests. In summary, El Santo restaurant is a prime example of everything that can go wrong in the hospitality industry. From the apathetic staff to the subpar food and lackluster ambiance, there's nothing redeeming about this place. Save your money and dine elsewhere if you value your time and taste buds.

Truly awful experience, the first time our main courses came out the were cold as we’re the sides. We informed the manager and we were told they’d replace them after nearly 2.5hrs we decided not to wait any longer on our main courses and asked for the bill, which was discounted. The previous courses from the set menu arrived sporadically with long gaps between. The drinks tasted great, but again took quite a long time to get to the table. We called it a day having booked our table for 8pm and by 10:25pm we were passed eating. The Ozzie Assistant Manager was really helpful, and genuine. I made a booking for my partner and myself on New Year's Eve to celebrate in a different style. Just one day before our booking I was notified that the restaurant will be serving ONLY set menu for £75 pp after 6pm (our booking was at 7pm). I had to call to reschedule the booking before 6pm because we wanted to try our own selection of food from the ala carte menu. Then it was just getting worse. We were rushed to order because the time was getting closer to 6pm. When we finally ordered, we received our guacamole premade, not made at the table as advised in the menu (which I understand, this is common practice when the restaurant is busy, however I saw the guacamole being made freshly at other tables). Afterwards, I ordered the raw salmon in citrus sauce/broth, which was fantastic! Definitely the star of the night, would recommend 100%. Then I received my main, which was the cod from Chef's Selection, and I had to borrow cutlery from my partner as I didn't receive a fresh set (he had tacos so he didn't use cutlery). A similar thing happened to our dessert - we were left with no cutlery and had to wait 15min for any waiter to appear on the floor so that we could flag them and ask for some cutlery. By that time our ice cream was half-melted. Generally, the ambience in the restaurant was fantastic, with a mesmerising live band playing popular songs and dimmed lights. Cocktails were also fantastic, beautifully chilled and balanced. However, the service was far from perfect. Long waiting times, waiters disappearing from the floor for 20min and disorganised food service. The lack of trained and experienced floor staff shows. And the restaurant was not that busy! We won't be back soon. Definitely not worth the price point!

Disappointed, this is nothing on the food, myself and my partner came here earlier in the year and loved it, so much so we had booked ourselves a table for Hogmanay, as such I phoned up to ask about availability around 4 weeks ago and had our table booked with nothing seemingly different than our previous visit. Unfortunately, 4 days before Hogmanay we were informed that we will have no choice other than a set menu, that neither myself or my partner were keen on, and we would have no other option but to pay £150 for the set menu, I completely understand restaurants doing set menus for Hogmanay as I myself am a chef in Glasgow, however to be told 4 days before or booking, which was in place 4 weeks ago, that there was only a set menu without previously being informed on the matter is quite disappointing. Again nothing on the food, as we loved the food on our first visit, however extremely disappointed on how they handled this situation and how we were left in the dark, especially now that I have had to make other arrangements for Hogmanay a few days before which has proved difficult due to high demand.

Lovely looking restaurant , food is nice too. At 5:30pm on Thursday with maybe another handful of tables sitting at the same time as us. They didn’t have the ribs and 2 of the other tacos on the Christmas menu. The waitress was dry with us the whole night, she seemed bothered that we asked about the menu, she didn’t care to ask if it was our first time there or explain or recommend anything, which in my eyes, it’s just standard when serving in a restaurant. I don’t understand why these places think it’s okay to add 10% service charge without asking as if it’s compulsory. It’s not , you can ask to take it off. Specially not acceptable when they don’t have food you’ve ordered from the menu and when the services was soo dry. We went in, in a happy mood to celebrate and as soon as we got served I wish I had got up and left. Felt pressured to pick something else from the menu with the waitress getting impatient standing over me. I feel bad complaining on here but some people should change jobs and stay away from the public. Oh ! They also add a gift a tree charge , without asking. If they explained that they are raising money for a cause and told us a bit about it , and I wanted to accept fair enough. But what do I know what it is , who it goes to or anything… just asume and expect the customer to consent out of being polite. I work hard for my money I don’t just give it away as if it is nothing to me. Specially whne it’s not at all worth it.

Some of our groups food came about 20 minutes later than the rest, we were sat for over an hour before any of our order arrived. I understand Saturday nights can be busy but it was really poor. Been coming here regularly at weekends mainly to have good cocktails in El Santito but sometimes food (they are way behind the curve on vegan food, but the little they do have is nice). We come often for the music as the regular DJ is damned good, but last weekend it was just weird. There was a sax player blasting out too loudly over bad commercial music, and then when the DJ did finally start, it was like R'n'B and just the worst commercial reggaeton and house...same guy that normally plays incredible Latin music....why has this changed???!!! A decision has been made to make this place more mainstream I guess, but we come here to get away from cheesy music! My partner is Brazilian, and I lived in Colombia for many years, so music is important for us, and after that last experience we are going to look elsewhere for that latin vibe.

The people that work there go above and beyond for their customers and even on a possibly wrong night where the food arrives late and maybe even with the wrong dishes (it happened to me), the staff is so nice and professional that they definitely make the difference between a disaster and a happy customer. I have read a few silly reviews about people complaining about the price of the food when the menus are available to all online! Check before you go and if it's not in your price range then pick somewhere else. Anyway the food was fantastic, almost too much to be honest. Drinks prices were pretty reasonable. Will definitely be back.

We went in for a late lunch using Itison vouchers on 18/10/23 The food was so bland it was almost tasteless. The staff gave incorrect information about the food on the menu and then did nothing when I said we did not enjoy any aspect of our food. More money should be spent on staff training than the decor in my opinion. Looks good but lacks substance and they need a new chef if he/she is happy to serve such bland food.

If I could give no stars I would. I dined here in July of this year with two friends. The place was near empty but somehow the table service was non existent for most of the time & a struggle to get anyone’s attention. The drinks weren’t that great. Margaritas that tasted too sweet & were served in tiny little Nick & Nora glasses. However that’s not the most disappointing part of the experience. When we received our mains, we had each ordered two tacos each & a selection of other items. I bit into my beef taco & when chewing it I felt something very hard hit against my tooth & nearly swallowed it. I pulled it out my mouth & to my horror it was a large chunk of GLASS! No waitress was to be seen when this occurred & when we eventually got someone they apologised & got the manager. The manager, albeit polite, had no idea how to handle this situation. He couldn’t even make eye contact. & asked if I wanted a replacement. Sorry, but no thank you! Not after finding that in the the food. He took the plate away to “show the kitchen” but when he returned there was no explanation given as to how they thought that glass had gotten into my food. He just told me my replacement was on its way to the table. Which I had to cancel & reiterate I did not want any more food from the kitchen after what I had nearly swallowed. We were offered a bottle of wine for the table instead which we declined as we were not drinking wine & ordered another round of drinks instead 5 minutes later. (Which we were still charged for!) But safe to say, none of us finished our food after this incident. No one came near us the rest of the meal really. We sat with uneaten food in front of us for over half an hour. No one asked if we wanted it all taken away when we had to complain about the glass. No one even asked if I was okay during the experience & whether it had injured me. We were ignored & avoided until we asked for the bill when we eventually got someone’s attention for it. The manager didn’t even bring it himself, he sent a member of staff to apologise on his behalf while he stood at the bookings desk. & the bill still rang in at £150!!!!!! A measly 20% off for food contamination by broken glass is shocking!!! & on departure from the restaurant the manager didn’t even lift his eyes from the screen to acknowledge us on the way out the door. Ridiculous & unprofessional. I had actually been really nice about the whole thing because I too have worked in the industry & know what it’s like dealing with these things but I can’t accept how poorly this was all dealt with & wish I’d actually just got angry about it & made the scene it deserved on the day. I detailed my bad experience in a private email sharing my disappointment on the service in general, how it was dealt with by management & the fact we were given no reassurance it had been investigated & dealt with within the kitchen as I didn’t want to leave a public review, but the poor inadequate response I received from Kayleigh who described herself “THE” Manager was much the same. She washed over all the concerns & points I made with a mediocre response that came to all of 3 half hearted sentences where she offered me a free meal at a later date. Again no thank you. & has ignored completely my response to her email showing that this venue & its managers just don’t care very much about customer service or their food hygiene & health & safety reputation. The place looks stunning inside & the food looks good too. But there’s some serious flaws with how that venue is managed & the product executed. It’s a real shame as this could have been a great venue but I will never be back nor will I recommend it to anyone after the poor experience & lack of care shown to me over such a serious incident of food contamination.

Unfortunately the only positive thing I can say about El Santos is that it has amazing decor. Everything else was a complete let down. The staff are extremely untrained, lacking in basic customer service skills. The cocktails made by the same bartender were inconsistent in taste and ingredients, we ordered the same drinks three times and not once did they resemble the previous order. We were looking forward to the food, however a few moments in to eating my friend pulled out a large piece of GLASS from her mouth that was in amongst her taco filling (details on separate review below) . The sheer lack of concern when we eventually managed to get the attention of staff was shocking. The staff tried to push a re-order of the same item, but considering these taco fillings are batch made, to offer another duplicate taco from the same batch, and continue serving other diners this food item for the duration of our reservation is truly astounding, given the severity of this situation… BROKEN GLASS IN YOUR FOOD Clearly from kitchen preparation. The staff including the manager showed zero concern that my friend and other diners may be at risk of swallowing more glass. The kitchen continued service as normal. The whole situation was handled so unprofessionally , there was no empathy or general human decency involved which should come naturally working in this industry. All 3 of us who dined also work in hospitality at a high level and know how a severe situation like this should be handled. We gave El Santos adequate time to try and resolve this situation, however they would rather play this situation down and ignore following up altogether, which has now resulted in this review.

Food. For me not a great menu. It’s not clear & there’s not the best selection. Tacos were OK not great. Out a packet? Surely not. Halloumi not bad. Mains. Chicken was nice. Sauce with it OK. Hake if I’m to be honest was pretty disgusting. Worst I’ve ever had. Sauce was gloopy & tasted terrible. Texture of fish suggested it was frozen rather than fresh. Some reviews like the hake. I have no idea how you could like that. Maybe they’ve changed it? Pork belly was nice & crispy. Cocktails were nice. Restaurant itself is beautiful. Toilets a touch grubby. Waiting staff. Lad in the bar serving cocktails was good and clearly enthusiastic about his cocktail menu. Waitress…I’ve got to be honest she did warm up slightly but I’d describe her as frosty. She wouldn’t get a job in my restaurant. No effort to explain the menu and basically unfriendly & unhelpful. Had that slightly aloof way about her. Scowled at us. The restaurant was freezing. I asked the staff to turn the air con off. They did but it came back on. Appears they couldn’t work it. For me this is another restaurant which is all show and very little substance. I couldn’t recommend as I definitely wouldn’t go back. You never know, but if it doesn’t up it’s game I doubt it’ll last long. A shame as clearly a lot of effort & money has been put into the restaurant itself. If I were the owner I’d be worried. I’ve given it 3 stars. I’m probably being generous as it’s the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve eaten in. I don’t like to give bad reviews but I just couldn’t say much positive about this place. My advice would be to spend your £50 a head somewhere else.

Everything right down to the plates & glassware were just beautiful, very pleasant attentive staff & looking forward to going back to try more things as the sharing steak on the platter looked amazing. We had 4 different types of tacos each one delicious as was my latte to finish it off. I mentioned off-handedly that the occasion was Chinese Valentines Day and at the end of the meal, staff brought us a plate of two truffles and chocolate that read 'Happy Valentines' 😲💕 (it was a surprise to both of us). Fantastic service in general, they made the night feel really special. Will go here again x

Beer was warm, the food was overpriced and the live singer was that loud you couldn't have a conversation across the table. We had asked for the bill which came with a 10% service charge and as we waited to pay we were told by someone else that we needed to leave the table within 10 minutes. We were waiting on them coming back with the card machine at the same time we were being rushed. Just as well we never orded dessert. Won't be back anytime soon.

Food was fine. Atmosphere was okay. Lighting was low. I mean, really low to the point I could barely read the menu. We had the chefs menu to share between two. A guy came out with a foldable table and mixed the guacamole in front of us in a massive pestle and mortar bowl. A bit gimmicky really and more of a nonsense. I'm sure the staff do not fight over who does that job each night. Just mix it in the kitchen and bring it out for goodness sakes. It's bad enough waiting long enough for the drinks. The dancers could be ditched too. No one was really watching them. No disrespect to them at all. They could dance but they would be best utilised on the floor bring drinks out to tables or mixing guacamole. The music was deafening! When I'm shouting and straining to hear my partner who is beside me (not across the table, I mean beside me), you know it's too loud. I remember the ringing in my ears when I came out of Archaos back in the day. I had the same experience leaving El Santos. Toilets are very dimly lit too. That's no excuse for the p**s all over the seat and the paper strewn across the floor. That's not the restaurants fault though, that's just down to the animals that were eating there that evening. Would I go back? If I was feeling flush and was absolutely bladdered so the music didn't bother me, maybe. Maybe but highly doubtful.
