El Santo's in Glasgow City

My partner and I, Michael, were kindly able to celebrate his 30th birthday with a 2:1 cocktail masterclass with Jack (Sorry if we've remembered your name wrong) our wonderful bartender enthusiast. The team let us have an exception small group in June after I emailed them from Australia to confirm options before our travels. Jack kindly accommodated us in a 2 hour experience, with so much knowledge, patience and positivity. Thank you so much for a lovely memory of our time in Glasgow and an extra, extra level predrinks experience to our Green day concert that night. We would most definitely recommend the venue which had a great vibe, incredible food (especially the tapas style dishes) and staff were all so lovely. If we ever come back to Glasgow, we will surely return! Best wishes from the land down under ☺️

This is a great place for a date night. The South American dancing is an unexpected but top tier addition to the experience. The food is great too, even if a bit on the expensive side

cool venue Have previously dined but this time I was in back room for drinks and salsa dancing! The back room is a good size with plenty of seating and it's own bar . The bartenders are skilled at cocktails making ( mine made me a surprise mocktails which was lovely) however there was only two people serving on a busy Saturday night. Everyone wanted the good cockails which led to slower services and longer waits. however , it was was great fun- the DJ was excellent and everyone had a great time. After the meringue the music went more clubby / party than latin and the party full started. Recommend!

Food was O.K. apart from the massive curly hair found in one of the tacos… Drinks and cocktails good and service was fine. Took over and hour and a half to be served our mains and 50mins for starter which was only crisps. Really poor

It was one of the terrible experiences I have ever had. It took around 30 minutes to bring our drinks,which were just ice and tiny drinks in it. After 50 minutes, the salad and sides came. Then because they brought the food too late, two of souces, which were made by butter, became solid and I asked the waitress with green shirt to change it for us, and she never brought another one. There were a good number of waiters and waitresses, but unfortunately, most of the time, they were not available and should wait for a long time to order or ask for something. The area was too cold and not comfortable.

Attentive and friendly service. Food was all tasty. Good range of gluten free items including tacos, breaded prawns etc. Drinks took a lil while to arrive. And food was probably a bit too quick, not leaving much breathing room.

Great vibe...Great food..outstanding decor. After being here you don't need to go anywhere else after. Won't forget being here.

Attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the menu. Had chefs recommended menu which a good way to try the menu but was expensive for the portions provided especially for main course options. Advertised brazillian entertainment never started as billed and we left an hour after it was supposed to start. Disappointing as we had come to have that part if yhe experience specifically

Interesting place, great food. Had some beautifully cooked pork. Their cocktails are too notch too. We were there on a Friday night, they had some live dancers come out throughout service which was great fun. Speak easy pretty cool too, dj was good. Definitely be back.

We were there twice in August 2024 and had excellent food and drinks. The service was incredibly dedicated and very friendly. We'll definitely be back for a cheer peach or caipirinha!

A delicious and welcoming night out. We missed the experience that Viva Brazil used to give, and so we were very interested in trying the Sunday Rodizio BBQ menu at El Santo. On Arrival the resteraunt looks bright, clean and inviting. The staff were quick to greet us and we got our table. The sides for the Rodizio grill were delicious and being able to reorder them when you want, they were ideal. Then the meat starting coming... and coming and coming. The flavours and texture, the smell just delicious, and with staff who are so happy to bring your favourite back to the table for round 2.. it was just a delightful night. Special thanks for the Chef that night, and our servers Mo, Emma and Jack for looking after us so well. We will definitely be back, and maybe even try a different night to explore the rest of the menu...

Was looking forward to this restaurant but oh my what a disappointment! It is chaos ! They are very understaffed in fact we only seen our waitress when we paid the bill. The food is so average and definitely not authentic Mexican that’s for sure ! Not a chilli in sight and totally tasteless. The dancers cute the first time they come around but by the end of the evening it’s all a bit boring ! For what they are charging I certainly won’t be back 🤷‍♀️

Had a phenomenal Meal in El Santo. The Food was amazing and probably the best Guacamole 🥑 I’ve ever eaten and I’ve been to Mexico 🇲🇽. The Staff were friendly and attentive at all times. 100% will return 👍

Went on a Sunday for the Rodizio BBQ Grill, and it was absolutely amazing. Go on a completely empty stomach and you won't leave hungry! Cocktails were different from anywhere else and so delicious. We were served by Mary Ann and hands down was the best service we ever had in our lives.

Emma, Mary Anne, Lucas and Emanuel were wonderful. They were interesting, engaging and fun. They all gave great recommendations for drinks and food along with recommendations for places to visit in Scotland when we return. They were also very gracious when we asked to have photos taken with them. The food was top notch and the drinks were so tasty. Do yourself a favor and plan to visit El Santo in Glasgow. Would 100% recommend El Santo and will definitely return. 10/10 across the board.

Waited ages at table. Not offered drinks. Had to ask them to serve me. Then same with food. Tacos are like cardboard no taste. Then 90 minutes for main. Bought me wrong dish and my husbands was cold. Sent back and then his was reheated and finished before I even got mine. Did apologise n say kitchen busy. Ended up taking % of the bill. However I really can't find a positives so won't be bwck

Decent rodizio, very pleasant floor staff once you get their attention. Met by a passive aggressive guy who I can only assume is the manager / owner , as soon as you enter. Eye rolls and smirks aren't a great look to be greeting customers with.

I went to El Santo with my family (4 of us). The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was amazing. It was all presented beautifully and tasted delicious. We ordered a selection of dishes and they were all very tasty.

Well what can I say about El Santo Great decor great atmosphere and nice ambiance colourful playful use of furnishings The food was on another level We had the lunch menu and dishes that were expertly cooked and flavours kept coming with every bite The staff are very polite and tentative I’d highly recommend Can’t wait to go back for more Especially the Sunday roasts 😜

Absolutely amazing the place is gorgeous inside. Made me feel very special that day. Will definitely be back. Date night sorted for next time we get a chance to get out. I was also impressed the detail that went into the cocktails. It opened my eyes a little to how passionate people are to making their own twist on drinks that taste so fine. Wow. The service here was terrible. We had booked a table at 4pm stating that we were using an itison voucher. Booking accepted. On arrival there was 1 other couple in the building and a whole host of staff. 1 other table. 1. ONE! The host gave us menus to which I replied that we were using an Itison voucher (details of which given in original booking). She corrects and gave us the lunch menu included in the deal. As we sat deciding what we were going to order she returned to tell us that she actually couldn’t let us order from this menu. #SorryNotSorry ONE other table in the whole restaurant. ONE. You are on Itison for a reason. You had time to phone me and tell me that the time of my booking was unacceptable for me to rearrange i.e. 5 mins before the “deadline” I was in town from 3.15pm….but instead you allowed us to assume that our booking was ok ….and yet it was not. With experience in this industry I would have been mortified turning away my table, and yet none of your severs seemed surprised. Mortified. ONE other table at 4pm on a Friday. I would have understood if the place was packed. Embarrassing. Clearly came from the kitchen. Wow. Sort out your priorities!

Positive friendly staff , gorgeous cocktails.. the place looks absolutely amazing , service was amazingly even though it was super busy, Fran , Nikkaya! What can I say just brilliant Didn’t get other staffs name (sorry) also an absolute credit , My partner said it was some of the best food he had eaten and he is a big foodie.and the cocktails 10/10 . Was very reasonably price for the gorgeous food.and not to forget the dancers just loved it. Thank you will definitely be back soon ! Dee.

We loved this place. We were just strolling along hungry on a late Sunday afternoon, and smelled the food and walked in, we were perhaps slightly underdressed, but the staff welcomed us in with our kiddos. It was a special on Sunday they had where it was Brazilian steakhouse Style they just bring meats out and you get sides and a cocktail for £39 I believe. We tried many cocktails and they were all fantastic. The service was amazing, our waitress was so kind and attentive.

Quiet Wednesday night, was ignored at the door by a manager and bar team member, someone finally came over to greet us and told us they had ‘no capacity’ even though we could see at least 8 free tables. Must be doing okay to be turning away any passing trade. Rude and ignorant staff.

Was really lookin forward to this but very disappointed !! No formal greeting on arrival ! Service was slow very slow waited 20 mins for 6 drinks and the place wasn't overly busy !! Service was shocking tho one girl was trying her best to help speed things up , no explanation of menus either ,when dinner did arrive the wee boy said whose this for so I asked what is it his reply some kind o tatties !! Best thing about the pls e was the lively dancers !! We tried to make the best off it as it was a 50 th celebration !!

Great Mexican restaurant sharing plates for two great value

this is a review you will NOT want to skip..... we visited el santo for my friends 29th birthday. there were 15 of us. we booked in advance knowing the social media hype of el santo recently, and it was a Sunday so we thought it would be busy. we arrived and we were the ONLY people there. we were sat at the large long table at the back of the room. we gabbed away, as a large group does, and waited around 20 minutes before the waitress took our first drink orders. everyone ordered - and remember , ONLY PEOPLE THERE. the bar man then came to our table and said that due to the venue being very understaffed (there was only him and this waitress and the manager) , could we not order cocktails as he's the only one on bar. we obliged, and ordered simple drinks. we proceeded to wait another 15/20 minutes for these. the waitress then spilled an espresso martini all over my friends cream coat, and tried to pretend she didn't notice it happening. That was an unnecessary dry cleaning bill. the waitress took the first half of the tables orders, and left out the second half. so while half of the table is eating a starter , the rest of us were sitting confused. a couple and their baby then came into the venue , and out of the WHOLE EMPTY VENUE, were sat directly next to us. firstly, why you sitting a couple with a baby next to a table with a baby? there's a full venue??? the couple obviously had the same idea as they requested a table at the opposite side of the room. which is understandable. 15 people talking over each other is hardly a quiet situation. the bar man then came up to us after they moved and told us all to shut up , there was other people in the venue. we looked at him confused - we weren't shouting , or being wild , we were just 15 people talking , which can sound loud. we went back and forth with the bar man , and then a member of our group stepped up and said cancel all orders - we are leaving. we went to leave , and the manager on the way out said to us "sorry about this im just very hungover and too f**** to deal with it" I then made a tik tok about the full day , as i was previously known for having reviews of places in Glasgow (500k views on Cineworld, Jobs with loreal, hotels , fashion , etc) I spoke truthfully on our experience, and the video went viral , with a newspaper getting hold of it also. whilst this happened, the owner caught wind and started harassing me online , trolling my account , and calling us liars. i know this is the owner because i have a friend who has worked with the owner on a previous job , and he was known for making fake accounts to fight people online that he didn't like what they had to say. every account that harassed me , was saying the same thing again and again. I find it absolutely mind boggling that an owner would not take honest criticism, and instead of fixing the issue, choose to Harass and troll the person posting. you completely ruined my friends birthday!!! since then, we noticed that all good reviews of this establishment were made by social influencers, so people who were asked to go review and leave positive notes , to hype up the company. yet, on my video that had over 300 comments , 299 of them were negative. instead of bullying people online - fix the problem.

fathers day was a major disappointment. We were left for 30 minutes when we arrived with no-one approaching us for orders. I complained to the manager and was told I would be given a discount, fair enough but this was then wiped out with the service charge they applied! The garlic bread was rock hard, some of the food being served was cold(lamb and beef) and no one bothered refilling our sides unless we asked (these were small sauces etc that were not enough for 4 people). The whole experience was a major disappointment and I have been to similar with Viva Brazil. I felt very sorry for my kids that were paying for this.

Ate here as part of a large 15-man stag do party on Saturday night. There had been an issue/error with the pre order, but the waitress (I'm so sorry I didn't get her name) was absolutely brilliant in helping us get food ordered and making sure we were well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was brilliant - especially with the two dancers who were incredible to watch. Thank you and I will definitely be returning!

Nice venue with lots of tables set up for larger parties. The menu is confusing so much so that we opted for the chefs menu £40pp with a couple of extras as there were three of us. This gave an opportunity to try things which I would have normally shied away from. The meat was very fatty which was a little off putting for me. House red wine was very palatable. Not sure that I would make another visit to be honest

Excellent food and atmosphere. A mix of Brazilian and Mexican culture. As a Brazilian, I definitely recommend it.

Food tasted average price is ruthless for the small plates in Glasgow usually service is decent but this was awful with no friendly smiles or even knowledge of the food or drinks menu I know it’s a new place but share the vision better if you want to succeed

Insanely good fish taco. Crispy batter, taste is well balanced with citric. Guacamole is freshly grounded with mortar in front of you. Those are fresh with squeeze of lemon juice, paired with nachos. Pina colada is infused with coconut cream and super creamy. Margarita and ceviche nothing special.

Food was completely overpriced for its portion and quality. The ribs were awful as well as the sausage plate. Service fee and gift tree? were included in the price without asking Regarding the food being to this restaurant has been unfortunately one of the worst experiences I have experienced Service was good though

It's a nice place, very colorful with nice music, we went to have birthday lunch there, the staff is amazing. Many choices and combos. Nice presentation of the dishes and drinks, however I think they can improve on the drinks. Food was very tasty 😋 we went on Wednesday and we had almost the whole restaurant for us. I definitely coming back. We had drinks, appetizers, Maine dishes and dessert we spent approx 100 quid. I didn't see parking place I'm not sure about it.

Very good food and the restaurant is very nice, large, pleasant and with a good atmosphere. A very kind man attended to us and we understood each other very well in Spanish.

Can’t recommend this restaurant enough , straight from the start we were treated with very high levels of customer service. Are waiter Maryann is a testament to how attentive and knowledgeable a waitress can be in the hospitality industry. You can tell there is a lot of love and care that has went into the food and drink menus as both were outstanding, The flavours from the food was out of this world and the cocktails were so creative.

Went for a nice meal and they treated us like tourists I live up in Glasgow and I’ve heard good things about this place but they were rude and decided to only give us one menu which only contained one thing which was just under £40 per person we complained then they gave us the other menu but it was too late by that point there attitude towards us and the fact they thought they could scam us by only giving us that one menu ruined my birthday dinner so we left very disappointing I don’t recommend

Never actually heard of this restaurant, so I checked out the menu online. We ordered guacamole and nacho, which you can't really go wrong. THEN we ordered pulled pork tacos and Cod Tacos and some skin fries with one extra halloumi, My tacos were OK the filling could have been anything not any great flavour the Cod taco I thought were smelly definitely there was a strong fishy smell. but not fresh, We liked the atmosphere and a great band playing Mexican music , The server was very good with lots of smiles, I don't think it was good value all flash and no substance

Love love loved my first visit to El Santo. What a fantastic place. Fab service, fab staff, fab drinks and snacks. Can’t wait to return

Although it is quite expensive, there are dishes for £8-9 that are delicious such as the nachos, the empanadas (the best), the croquettes and something else that I don't remember, they were finger-licking good.

As much as the food and entertainment were 12 out of 10 stars (and will go back), look closely at your bill. We got charged for an expensive bottle of wine and beer that we did not order or consume. I don't feel this was intentional but it did make us wonder. It can get very busy but still lively and enjoyable.

Food was unbelievable! So were the cocktails. Service a little slow and had to wait a while for drinks but the staff were incredibly friendly and I would definitely be back! Worth the wait!

Jack makes the place special! We had only visited once before and he remembered us and made us feel so welcome, he has such a great passion for Elsanto and makes amazing cocktails! Jack you are worth your weight in gold, Elsanto are lucky to have you.

Beautiful interior but the food was just ok with really small portions at high prices. Same with the drinks which were nice but really small. The margarita was £10 and it was tiny.

El Santo is a true gem in Glasgow! As soon as you step through the door, you're transported to South America with their vibrant atmosphere and delicious food. I went to El Santo last night with my Husband and friends. Wow it was truly an amazing experience , the staff were very polite, always checking everything was ok. The food and drinks were nothing like I’ve tasted before, out of this world and the atmosphere was brilliant with a musician playing in the background. If your looking for a good night out this is the place to go 😊

I've never felt the need to leave a review for a restaurant before now but el Santos has definitely earned it! Me and my partner walked into el Santos for the last night of our holidays. We did not check the reviews of this place before we came which was definitely a mistake! First things first! I've never been made to feel more uncomfortable by a server in all my life. Think the blonde server was determined to dislike us from the off! Felt like she was annoyed by everything we did such as ask for more time deciding on food, not prononcing the wine name correctly and asking for our food all to come together ( not possible which was fine). Long story short we have to wait 35 minutes between tiny little places of food. I 100% get the wait time if it was busy but there was about 5 other tables in the place. Food was nice enough but definitely not worth the ridiculous price tag for the tiny winy portions.We then asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill (which I've never done before) for our server to then argue with us about it! I would have been okay with the slow service and over priced medicre food if the server had been nice to us - but treating us like we don't deserve to be there is a step too far for me. Pretty snobbish

Went on a Friday night and had high hopes. The restaurant is decorated very nicely. However, I felt the staff were quite rude. It wasn’t busy but there were a lot of people standing around. No one asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food is average, the portion sizes are small and it’s not the cheapest. I wouldn’t return, there’s plenty of better places in Glasgow - with nicer staff and better food!

6 of us went for the Sunday Rodizio bbq menu The place is beautifully decorated very welcoming The waitress came to explain how it all worked but was very quietly spoken and we couldn't really understand her. You get unlimited sides Which were chips, rice, garlic bread, black bean stew, potato salad and dough balls Then they bring different meats around and serve you until you have had enough But this was a bit hit and miss The waiters seemed to be struggling to serve some of it, they served 2 of us with sausage ran out of it and never came back with anymore same happened with another meat too. And although most of the meat was delicious it was so salty as were the chips It would have been nice to have had some refreshing Salads with it rather than so many carbohydrates not a bad place but I've been to much better one of this style of restaurants.

Great atmosphere, food was OK (smallish portions, limited menu) service was fair (staff were very busy working hard, a few extra would be better) all in all a good night out. Bill included a 10% service charge and £1.23 for a Gift tree???

The place itself is lovely, the decor and music make it a great atmosphere. But everything else is ‘meh’ - food was fine but nothing special for the price, our food came out at different times which was annoying but the waitress did apologise and offer a free round of drinks. Even after this the wait between courses was too long, they definitely need more staff on for a Sat evening. There are so many great places in Glasgow so I wouldn’t choose to return.

Amazing food and atmosphere- caught some live music near the end of our meal - excellent. The chocolate cigar dessert is one of best things I’ve eaten. One small gripe - the waitress staff for afternoon were efficient but not friendly. The later staff much better. Pricey but worth it. Brighten staff and this is 5/5, 10/ 10 100%

Great belated Mother’s Day lunch. Panos was fantastic at advising us on the menu. We tried the trio of desserts which were amazing. Highly recommend.

Lovely cool vibe in a cosy, classy but not too formal environment. We shared the tomahawk steak, medium rare and cooked to perfection 👌. House merlot was fabulous. Stunning bar and loved watching my cocktail being made expertly and with flair.

We went for a special anniversary. My wife is from Latin America, so we thought this would be ideal. We had the set menu, and it was delicious and served with flair! The staff were very pleasant and attentive. We also tried a couple of cocktails. Would recommend the caiparinhia as the house special! They had Latin dancers, music and sparklers when we were in on a Friday evening. It may not be suitable if you are looking for a quiet meal, but it was perfect for us and a Latin heart in the centre of Glasgow!

Fantastic food every time, I have been multiple times and will defiantly be back

It's a shame, the food was really good but the service was awful. Constantly having to chase to order drinks, drinks being ordered and not arriving, food being ordered and the wrong things coming out, mains coming out, sauces missing, main meals being finished and then sides arriving after the grill items were eaten 20/25 minutes later. The service was chaos. The atmosphere wasn't for me, too loud to the extent you can't hear the person next to you, waitress coming to the table asking who's ordered X but nobody can actually hear lol. Dancers every five minutes with sparklers and an annoying cameraman documenting everything with a flashing camera. Lastly toilets... you can't see if they are occupied as it's single toilets, you have to press every door to check if it's locked or not as its too dark in the corridor. Focus on the service and get the high quality food out. Less gimmicks. Food and service first. Need to stress the food was exceptionally good. But the service of the kitchen and front of house needs massively improved.

El Santo restaurant is an utter disappointment from start to finish. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with an air of indifference from the staff, particularly the manager, Panos, who seems more interested in chatting with his colleagues than ensuring guests are properly attended to. The lack of professionalism is glaringly evident in every aspect of the dining experience. The staff is poorly trained and oblivious to basic customer service etiquette. It's as if they're doing you a favor by allowing you to dine there. The food, if you can even call it that, is mediocre at best. It's clear that quality is not a priority at El Santo. Dishes are poorly executed, lacking in flavor and presentation. It's as if the kitchen staff couldn't care less about the culinary experience they're delivering to customers. The ambiance is equally disappointing. The decor is tired and uninspired, reflecting the overall lack of care and attention to detail that permeates the entire establishment. It's clear that no effort has been made to create a welcoming or memorable atmosphere for guests. In summary, El Santo restaurant is a prime example of everything that can go wrong in the hospitality industry. From the apathetic staff to the subpar food and lackluster ambiance, there's nothing redeeming about this place. Save your money and dine elsewhere if you value your time and taste buds.

Arrived for an early evening meal and was really impressed by the decor. Service was prompt and friendly, both of us enjoying our meal. I asked the bar staff about the white Malbec and they promptly brought me over a small sample to try. Prices are what you would expect for what's on offer, and it's only a couple of minutes walk from George Square. A bit of sunshine in the heart of Glasgow on a rainy day. Give it a try...

One of the worse service experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. We waited 1.5 hrs for our food, we had no starters just mains so no real excuse. The place was about half full and there was a decent amount of staff but we had to get their attention to speed things up as none approached us. The food when it eventually came was okay but nothing special.

Love the decor and style of El Santo. Even the staff are wearing beautiful colourful shirts.The place is immaculate, and well organised. We were greeted with a smile, taken to our table, our coats hung up on a cold day. We had lunch on a Saturday at 2pm. Not too busy, but busy enough for some chatter and atmosphere. We opted for the £40pp sharing menu, and a bottle of white wine. The wine list gives plenty to choose from. Service was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious, we look forwsrd to our next visit. Well done team El Santo, we loved our first visit 👏👏

The place is cool but service is very bad and slow. It took 25 min to get our drinks and 1:30 to get our dinner. The waiters took forever to came back to see if we wanted more drinks. Really disappointed because is not a cheap restaurant.. they really need more staff . Ceviche was good but tacos are not great. They don’t have spicy sauce 😞

Truly awful experience, the first time our main courses came out the were cold as we’re the sides. We informed the manager and we were told they’d replace them after nearly 2.5hrs we decided not to wait any longer on our main courses and asked for the bill, which was discounted. The previous courses from the set menu arrived sporadically with long gaps between. The drinks tasted great, but again took quite a long time to get to the table. We called it a day having booked our table for 8pm and by 10:25pm we were passed eating. The Ozzie Assistant Manager was really helpful, and genuine. Overall we wouldn’t return and would not recommend. The atmosphere is great but the food and time you have to wait on it means it’s not worth ruining a night out for.

Staff were nice but not very attentive perhaps because they were busy. The food was average and took a long time to come up with no warning from the servers of the wait times. The décor was the most impressive thing of the full place with a lovely round bar.

Great from start to finish the guacamole was the best I've ever tasted and loved the theatre of it being prepared table side. The ceviche was amazing and could have eaten it all day. Rest of the meal was great too would highly recommend for a team lunch

If I could give this a 0 I would, instead I will give it a 1. It was awful, if I wanted bad tacos, I would go to Taco Bell. It was overpriced, under seasoned and a sorry excuse for “authentic tacos”. I don’t know if they got their authenticity from the international section at ASDA, but I’m from Texas so I know a thing or two about tacos. The drinks were too sweet, but the service was good and the atmosphere was beautiful. Terrible food but would make a good club.

I made a booking for my partner and myself on New Year's Eve to celebrate in a different style. Just one day before our booking I was notified that the restaurant will be serving ONLY set menu for £75 pp after 6pm (our booking was at 7pm). I had to call to reschedule the booking before 6pm because we wanted to try our own selection of food from the ala carte menu. Then it was just getting worse. We were rushed to order because the time was getting closer to 6pm. When we finally ordered, we received our guacamole premade, not made at the table as advised in the menu (which I understand, this is common practice when the restaurant is busy, however I saw the guacamole being made freshly at other tables). Afterwards, I ordered the raw salmon in citrus sauce/broth, which was fantastic! Definitely the star of the night, would recommend 100%. Then I received my main, which was the cod from Chef's Selection, and I had to borrow cutlery from my partner as I didn't receive a fresh set (he had tacos so he didn't use cutlery). A similar thing happened to our dessert - we were left with no cutlery and had to wait 15min for any waiter to appear on the floor so that we could flag them and ask for some cutlery. By that time our ice cream was half-melted. Generally, the ambience in the restaurant was fantastic, with a mesmerising live band playing popular songs and dimmed lights. Cocktails were also fantastic, beautifully chilled and balanced. However, the service was far from perfect. Long waiting times, waiters disappearing from the floor for 20min and disorganised food service. The lack of trained and experienced floor staff shows. And the restaurant was not that busy! We won't be back soon. Definitely not worth the price point!

The food & service was amazing we can’t rate this place highly enough. We started with the guacamole & chips which is mixed at your table a really nice touch and without doubt the best I’ve ever tasted we then had the rump cap steak medium rare which was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely amazing . We finished with the chocolate cigar and the churro’s with caramel sauce once again so tasty and out of the ordinary. All in all if you love great food , great service and reasonably priced for the city centre this is the place to eat 10/10

Disappointed, this is nothing on the food, myself and my partner came here earlier in the year and loved it, so much so we had booked ourselves a table for Hogmanay, as such I phoned up to ask about availability around 4 weeks ago and had our table booked with nothing seemingly different than our previous visit. Unfortunately, 4 days before Hogmanay we were informed that we will have no choice other than a set menu, that neither myself or my partner were keen on, and we would have no other option but to pay £150 for the set menu, I completely understand restaurants doing set menus for Hogmanay as I myself am a chef in Glasgow, however to be told 4 days before or booking, which was in place 4 weeks ago, that there was only a set menu without previously being informed on the matter is quite disappointing. Again nothing on the food, as we loved the food on our first visit, however extremely disappointed on how they handled this situation and how we were left in the dark, especially now that I have had to make other arrangements for Hogmanay a few days before which has proved difficult due to high demand.

Arrived at restaurant and our table wasn’t ready - told to wait in the bar which had no free seats (although bar staff were great, and v friendly). When we were seated, waitress was rude and standoffish, waiter was lovely. Had to ask for multiple things (glasses for water, more drinks etc) rather than being checked on (I don’t think we were checked on once). On the sharing menu, not clear that you receive one of each choice of taco - pretty useless when it’s sharing. Would maybe go back for drink only and some table top guacamole, but nothing else - much better places in Glasgow to eat!

Really poor service. Arrived on time, our table was not ready in spite of there being two available. Were told to wait at the bar where there were no free seats. Food was very average. Very slow to come out. Waiter was lovely and bubbly, waitress was absolutely not cut out for hospitality. Very dry, had to ask for everything rather than being checked on from time to time. Loo's were chaotic, clean enough...but very messy with excess loo roll lying around and a loose tap. More like a club's loo than a restaurant. Food was not worth the price tag. Cocktails were nice. Would not go back from what I experienced today.

Lovely looking restaurant , food is nice too. At 5:30pm on Thursday with maybe another handful of tables sitting at the same time as us. They didn’t have the ribs and 2 of the other tacos on the Christmas menu. The waitress was dry with us the whole night, she seemed bothered that we asked about the menu, she didn’t care to ask if it was our first time there or explain or recommend anything, which in my eyes, it’s just standard when serving in a restaurant. I don’t understand why these places think it’s okay to add 10% service charge without asking as if it’s compulsory. It’s not , you can ask to take it off. Specially not acceptable when they don’t have food you’ve ordered from the menu and when the services was soo dry. We went in, in a happy mood to celebrate and as soon as we got served I wish I had got up and left. Felt pressured to pick something else from the menu with the waitress getting impatient standing over me. I feel bad complaining on here but some people should change jobs and stay away from the public. Oh ! They also add a gift a tree charge , without asking. If they explained that they are raising money for a cause and told us a bit about it , and I wanted to accept fair enough. But what do I know what it is , who it goes to or anything… just asume and expect the customer to consent out of being polite. I work hard for my money I don’t just give it away as if it is nothing to me. Specially whne it’s not at all worth it.

First visit in here yesterday after a recommendation,stunning inside, food was great and with a live latino singer in the background, just added that extra touch. We were not aware there was also another bar with live music next door to the restaurant. A wee bit pricey compared with other lovley food restaurants although definitely worth the experience for the decor and vibe alone

Loved it! I went with my wife and wanted a special dinner. This place didn't disappoint. The food and service were excellent, abs yes it's not cheap, view I've laid more due a lot less. We will certainly go back

This place is amazing. I have been 3 times and each time I fall more in love. The food is devine, one of the best steaks i have ever had, and who knew corn on the cob can liven your taste buds. If you haven't already tried you must try their spicy strawberry and habanero margaritas. They are outstanding. The service is great and good to see familiar faces each time i have visited. The cost is worth it, not on the cheap side but you leave feeing like it was worth every penny. Best restaurant with the best vibes.

We recently held our daughter's 21st birthday party in the beautiful margarita bar within El Santo. From the outset, Daniel was fantastic helping us plan a fun party. We had around 80 guests and was the perfect size of venue with an amazing atmosphere. The decor is stunning, the food is delicious and the cocktails are amazing. Special mention to Jack and Orgil who did the best job running the bar and worked so hard all evening. Also huge thanks to Panos, Fran and Destiny for taking such great care of us. Thank you for making the party so memorable.

Visited El Santo's on 25th November for a group dinner, 14 of us in total. The only good thing was that the food tasted good. Service was awful, about 6 items were missing from our order and when we queried this the waitress argued with us and said we hadn't ordered these things and the kitchen was now closed. Some of our groups food came about 20 minutes later than the rest, we were sat for over an hour before any of our order arrived. I understand Saturday nights can be busy but it was really poor. The cod taco only came as 1, which it didn't state on the menu. The halloumi was £9.50 for two really small squares, the small plates were really overpriced. I would not recommend.

Been coming here regularly at weekends mainly to have good cocktails in El Santito but sometimes food (they are way behind the curve on vegan food, but the little they do have is nice). We come often for the music as the regular DJ is damned good, but last weekend it was just weird. There was a sax player blasting out too loudly over bad commercial music, and then when the DJ did finally start, it was like R'n'B and just the worst commercial reggaeton and house...same guy that normally plays incredible Latin music....why has this changed???!!! A decision has been made to make this place more mainstream I guess, but we come here to get away from cheesy music! My partner is Brazilian, and I lived in Colombia for many years, so music is important for us, and after that last experience we are going to look elsewhere for that latin vibe.

My friend and I visited El Santo for dinner before a concert for her birthday. We were welcomed warmly, seated at a lovely table and almost immediately given a bottle of water. Our drinks order was taken quickly and our waitress Oana could not have been more helpful. Oana described all the dishes and recommended the set menu which did not disappoint. It was fun having the guacamole made at the table and all the dishes were delicious, particularly the croquettes. We selected one pulled pork and one cod taco and the Peruvian chicken as the main. All the waiting staff were very friendly and smiled while passing the table and checked frequently but unobtrusively if there was anything we needed or to take empty dishes away. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. Lovely decor, great food and exceptional service. Oana in particular helped make this an amazing evening for us. Thank you.

This was my first time visiting and I was fairly disappointed. There was a singer (who was good) that was being blasted extremely loud (which was bad). We couldn't talk to each other and my ears are still ringing. I did ask the waitress if the speaker could be turned down which she ignored. The food was really great and the interior was very nice. The service was bad. It was slow and the staff were clearly unhappy. I never saw one member of staff smile all night. Most likely they are sad about the fact they were now deaf. I actually felt a bit sorry for them as they all looked so miserable. It's a bit pricey which I would pay for a great experience. But this was not a great experience. Wouldn't recommend.
